One Piece 700 : His Pace

But… Doflamingo stands no chance against a purple tiger. It's a freaking purple tiger!
Probably why Law is confident that it won't be an issue if Doflamingo brings his whole crew.

@Panda:
Alright, some (as) Quick (as they get) Thoughts on the chapter from me.
Typical amazing transition / set-up chapter, really, with plenty of things revealed and pieces set up for the upcoming arc. I'm sure pretty much everything content wise has been brought up in the thread already, and will continue to be discussed.
What I think is one of the more interesting, if subtle things in this chapter, though – and that while I've seen brought up at least once in passing, I don't believe has been talked about much -- is the title. At face value, it seems a little odd that a chapter with so much going on in it, even by One Piece standards, would be titled after what frankly comes across as one of the usual Luffy-being-Luffy gags. I suppose it makes more sense once you realize that it's connected to the reveal of Ace's devil fruit, but I think it goes even beyond that.
Perhaps the most common complaint I see from the group of posters who, near as I can tell, must have had their puppies killed by Law when they were children or some such given how enraged they get by his presence in the manga, oh god I digress let me start over.
Perhaps the most common complaint I see from people who dislike Law is that, more or less since his re-introduction during Punk Hazard, he's had this sort of smug 'just according to plan' thing constantly going on. Put in other words, they dislike that One Piece has, in a way, been moving at Law's pace. I believe those people, especially, should love this chapter, and what it implies, because I think that the 'his' in the title is actually purposely ambiguous. Law has his pace of careful planning, which even in this chapter we see get slightly disrupted as he is distracted from his own objections to Luffy's 'wing it' attitude by being swept up into the manic, care-free pace of the Straw Hat pirates. Meanwhile, Doflamingo, who has been showed becoming enraged due to things moving Law's way, out of his control, is shown collecting himself, planning a way to get things moving back in a way he wants them to be. On top of all this, we have what is presumably one of the new Admirals being sent into action, who no doubt intends to handle things his own way.
Finally, of course, there is Luffy himself, who has and will always do things his own way, consequences be damned. If I had to say the title were referring to any specific character, which I'm hesitant to do, I would honestly say it was referring to Luffy. After all, One Piece is, ultimately, his story, and despite what some might argue, I personally believe that as such it has always moved at his pace. We definitely have one involved arc coming up -- with all the plans and counter-plans, all the the parties involved -- and in the end I am willing to say that it will be Luffy that brings all of that crashing down, Law's carefully laid plan gone haywire, Doflamingo's fiendish setups in shambles, and Luffy, the Strawhats, and his allies victorious.
One Piece, after all, moves at his pace.
Panda, I always enjoy reading your post no matter how long they are. You write as long as you want!

Yeah.
It's like Akainu's "Red Dog", Kizaru's "Yellow Monkey", and Aokiji's "Blue Pheasant".
Calling it now: The final Admiral will be Orange Tortoise.

offtopic but i found this
Just because Foxy has refer in a past discussion about Blackbeard's animal theme to be a Pig
(don't know if someone already metioned about that)
-
@Maynard:
If Oda does it well then I wouldn't mind but I don't see it happening. It was said that Blackbeard has a special body, Luffy doesn't have that or atleast isn't aware of it so it's unlikely. Ace had his own adventure and powers just like Luffy.
Mihawk said in the war that Luffy has the most dangerous power by being able to make many allies. He has all 3 haki and had been trained by rayleigh He doesn't need another hax thing like being able to eat 2 devil fruits, it just doesn't fit with the story either.
Actually it fits with the story surprisingly well.
Consider for a sec that like you said BB is supposedly "special" this would most likely have to do with his status as a D.
which could very well apply to Luffy too. If we believe BB is the main antagonist of One Piece by regular villain standards
the dude is OP, from what we've seen and been told BB has Haki + Yami + Gura.I'm no expert but usually in these kind of situations the main character will get some type of huge strength boost to match said antagonist,
people can cry "No, this is One Piece!" all they want, but even Oda the genius that he is can't avoid some common tropes.
Especially in the Shounen genre. My point is Oda put Teach on an entirely different level and if i'm supposed to believe that Luffy will beat him with just
Gomu + Haki then thats when I have to call Bullshit. Even before the Mera popped up Ive always thought Luffy would need another
significant power up before claiming the title of Pirate King. Ive always assumed another gear would appear, but shit maybe this is enough. It doesn't have to be as much of a bad thing as everyone makes it out to be, imo its poetic
Luffy defeats the man responsible for Ace's capture, with the help of his late brother's power?
That's Brilliant. -
Do you guys think we can rule out the VA's that already got an animal name (Momonga, Onigumo, Doberman and Dalmatian) to be Fujitora?

This is from One Piece Wikia, correct? Not the best source of info.
Case in point….Blackbeard had no former bounty…..and what the heck is "Flintlocks"?

Pistols. Pirate pistols.

Pistols. Pirate pistols.
…Oh, right. Well, I wouldn't call having a pistol an ability or a power. It's not like BB is a sniping master with one.

That's not the problem, for everyone caracter with wepons they add them in this category
-
Oh btw, I don't think I've read anything about this in this thread but the title 'his pace' is really a bad choice for this chapter. I understand that Oda doesn't want to spoil stuff from the chapter itself, but from all the things why Luffy's meat trance ?

Some interesting stuff (or not) about cards:
I was wondering at Trébol (clover) rather than clubs. Turns out diamonds were originally Careaux (tiles).
And the club suit was originally Trèfles (clovers) indeed, though it in turn was based on the German Kreuz (cross) suit.
The Spades are the most interesting, I guess. They were Piques (pikes) but in English took their name from the Italian Spada suit, which actually had swords. Then later it was made into a more spade-like design. But even more weirdly, in Germanic countries, it actually was based on a spade's blade.
Hearts are the only one that are still what they were in teh original French decks :p -
Do you guys think we can rule out the VA's that already got an animal name (Momonga, Onigumo, Doberman and Dalmatian) to be Fujitora?
Dalmatian and Momonga can be ruled out entirely.
Onigumo and Doberman not so much, but maybe.
Remember, doberman dogs doesn't have a moustache, but tigers do, so Doberman can be a purple tiger~ -

It's better then Wikipedia's approach of "TWO HUNDRED CHARACTERS PER PAGE,NO I DON'T CARE IF YOU CAN'T FIGURE ANY OF THIS OUT"

Nice chapter. So they're going to go storming Dressrosa and this will probably be the arc where Doflamingo is the main antagonist. So we have two (Law's not out yet but soon) Warlord positions that need filling. Buggy is a Warlord, which people have been saying since he got that letter. I wonder who the Warlord that they didn't name is though. Maybe Sabo? I like the idea that someone had quite a few pages ago, that Sabo will end up eating Ace's fruit, and potentially joining Luffy's crew at some point. I don't think he could be the Warlord in that case though because I don't see Oda getting rid of another one any time soon.
I'm interested in that unnamed Shichi as well but I doubt its Sabo lol! Seeing as how Oda addressed him I think he may be someone really badass. Might be one of the Supernovas or some new character?
By the way I love your signature - I'm ashamed it happened in my country though! :ninja:

Yeah, I was wondering about that. Is Doflamingo's pace really a power of his to make Luffy think of meat or does the title of the chapter refer to the abstract idea that Doflamingo has the Mera Mera no mi, something that could entice the strawhats to do something than what was planned?
-
Dalmatian and Momonga can be ruled out entirely.
Onigumo and Doberman not so much, but maybe.

I'm gonna be annoyed if the new Shichibukai is someone that we already know. -_-
-
I'm still upset with the OP wiki for claiming that Monet is dead. Shame on them
I'm gonna annoyed if the new Shichibukai is someone that we already know. -_-
We'll be getting a whole new host of characters in the NW. I don't mind if the schichibukai is someone we knwo
-
Wow I am impressed. Dofla must have spend enormous resources to find this logia fruit(I am curious wher the fruit respawned after Ace's dead) and it's very interesting that he is keeping it in reserve. This fruit with the right person can be a real game changer. A fire logia would be one of the toughest things out there. I can only imagine what someone with Vergo's training could have done with it.
I am also curious on what is going to happen to the fruit. I can't see any of the normal Strawhats eating it. It would make them way way too powerful. I can maybe see Luffy just smashing it to bits just once again to show how unpredictable he is
By the way here is a crazy suggestion for the mysterious new Warworld. How about Gin? He had potential and by now he could have had enough power boost to be at the minimum Warlworld requirments(like Moria).
-
If we're going by cards, who is the Queen and who is the Jack?

The point is, the wikia is not an official source to cite BB's animal theme. :P
Anw i take wikia as more official rather Foxy :D

This post is deleted!

I can't take the Warlords seriously now that joke of a character has been confirmed as a Warlord. Other than that awesome chapter
-
Dofla vs fujitora incoming, awesome :D
I hope this happens soon. I thought that they would send Admirals rather than just one after Doflamingo, that part kind of disappointing me though… Hopefully if this fight happens, then it's a little more excessive than the fight with Kuzan and Doflamingo goes back to his kingdom with quite a few scars.
It looks like Doflamingo will use Ace's fruit to ruin their alliance and get his chance to kill/own Law. Problem is he won't expect the way Luffy will react.
I can't take the Warlords seriously now that joke of a character has been confirmed as a Warlord. Other than that awesome chapter
Same here. You have someone like Doflamingo quit, and in the next chapter you have Buggy finally revealed. The only thing that made it slightly less unappealing is that it was expected he took over.
-
I'm gonna be annoyed if the new Shichibukai is someone that we already know. -_-
16 chars of NO WAY
-
That's the point.
Buggy the Clown is that typical weak, likable, shonen gag character, who achieves pretty great things through sheer dumb luck.
-

So you won't take Mihawk seriously when he's fighting Zoro to the death?

I got it from this page, it's about as official as you can get. And don't trust One Piece Wiki, they always get shit wrong.

He won't fight Zoro to the death. Because he'll be killed by Shiliew (of the Rain), the swordsman of the Blackbeard Pirates, before Zoro can fight him for the title. :ninja:

Anyone remember Vergo and Monet? We haven't heard from them in a while. I'm starting to think that they might actually be dead.

i know from where you get it but this is NO a way to titled someone his animal theme
-
38 pages already- you guys sure are fast.
Having read the chapter there's like a 1000 things I want to mention but for now I'll settle for Franky and his surprisingly frightening look on that page. Combined with his current hairstyle it scares the shit out of me. Now off to read this thread I am.
-
Anyone remember Vergo and Monet? We haven't heard from them in a while. I'm starting to think that they might actually be dead.
Nah, you'll see Aokiji have is own cover story where he goes around collecting Monet, Vergo, and Yeti Brothers and
taking them to Impel Down orfreezing them to their imprisonment -
We'll be getting a whole new host of characters in the NW. I don't mind if the schichibukai is someone we knwo
Well I understand that and I'm all for it but what I meant is if its someone we already know , the perfect time would of been when we found out abt Buggy.
starting to feel like this Jack person that was mentioned a few chapters back is the last one.
-
@The:

Why not? Luffy calls Law "Tiger-guy." It seemed oddly specific to just randomly call Blackbeard a "Bearded Pig."
