There's a possibility that the AK was Shandora which once resided on Jaya. Never thought about bay of jaya though… but now you mentioned it, they could be connected. well, assuming both the reference and the AK = Shandora were true of course.

What you said in bold would make sense if the people of Shandora were friends or "allies" with the Ancient Kingdom, just like the fishmen, probably the giants and others people (Erbaf surely contains a poneglyph). The fact that Shandora possess a poneglyph just like Fishman Island and many other places, I think that all of these people were friends with the Ancient Kingdom. If Shandora was this kingdom, it would make sense for the Rio poneglyph to be there, but it's not.

We dont know if they were as advanced once they went to the blue sea, right? We just know that Shandora was " a prosperous kingdom", they probably had ton of gold but we don't know if they were an advanced-civilization as "futurist".
But let's take an example: our planet is dying, ressources are collapsing and we must move to the moon. We are the same people that made huge buildings and advanced computers but once we start living on the moon we have literally nothing, we must start a new civilization. Why are there no robots in the sky? In Skypiea?

I don't think it is needed in a fiction to erase the whole humanity in order to erase a century of history, even less in a shonen. They burned the books and probably a lot of other stuff, and they threatened the people to not talk about it by creating rules.

I agree with Kirk on that one. Erasing history is actually a lot easier than it looks like, especially if not many people are literate. Sorry to bring real world again, but it's just great example. We are missing great part of history and literature from ancient times, despite the fact that we are aloud to conduct research. Given that it's not hard to imagine, that in world after war, probably in great crisis with systematic bans on certain knowledge the whole century is missing.
There is also no slightest suggestion, that Shandora was ancient Kingdom. They seem to be in similar situation as Alabast and Fishmen Island.
Parts of this theory may end up coming true, but I feel like some parts miss the mark.
Notably, I'm pretty sure there's some sort of Avatar (nick series, not the movie) style reincarnation cycle that's going on with the Ds. The Roger/Luffy comparisons (especially suspect from Roger's recent, "Not going to die, partner" remarks), and Whitebeard's comments on Ace seem to lend support to that idea. And I'd guess that along that same theory, Blackbeard is the reincarnation of a D. who betrayed the AK back during the void century.
(Note: Avatar-style reincarnation allows for later incarnations to have distinctly different viewpoints and personalities than previous incarnations. However, some core aspects always stay the same. In Luffy's case, he has Roger's overall attitude on life/adventure, as well as a disregard for authority. In Blackbeard's case, I'd guess the main inherited trait would be the selfishness/tendency to backstab)
Beyond that, I think any destruction of reverse mountain/marijoa would be met with an equal amount of creation in the OP world. Meaning, thousands of new islands (read: endless new adventure) would be created in the aftermath.
I don't think it's an accident that most of the Poneglyphs and Ancient Weapons have belonged to non-humans.
I could see the True History being a story of colonization,
with the Twenty Kingdoms portrayed as the Conquistadors or European settlers.

There are a few problems with this theory, though: how does the world govt. managed to recreate those two spots? why is FI still here? if the One Piece plan was carried out in the past then FI should have been destroyed. also Joy Boy would have fulfilled his promise (if his promise was about bringing fishmen/mermen above the ocean to prevent their death).

you do agree that there are plenty of ways to erase history. And the bolded one, that's what I would like to suggest. If the WG had some metode/tech to effectively erase memories, why should they exterminated the whole people? There would be no point of doing so if they really had the technology. They could have killed them all instead in the first place.

some theories around were based on real life references, this will be one of them. It’s not mine though, it’s my friend’s at local one piece forum. His username is BonneySHP11st, so all the credits goes to him.
So,
In Indonesian’s history there was once stood a hindu kingdom named The Kingdom of Kediri. The kingdom was pretty known here, particularly because we study about it in high school.
Apparently, the kingdom has some paralel similarites with the ancient kingdom in One Piece. Here they are :
- The kingdom ruled over the eastern java from AD 1042 to 1222. It reached its golden age from AD1130-1160 under the reign of its most known king. <- AD 1130 - 1160. that’s approximately 900-800 years ago.
- The kingdom was remarkable for its well-known prophecy. It basically predicted the downfall of the kingdom, as well as the downfall of Indonesian’s archipelago to white and yellow race foreigners, then be independent and glorious once again. The prophecy turned out to be true. <- not sure about this, but I think you can relate it to “the promised day” and shyarly’s prediction.
- They left out 3 historical epigraphs, mainly tell about a big war beetween Pandawa and Kurawa clans <- you can relate it to poneglyphs and the war between the AK and 20 kingdoms
Despite the similaraities, they could be mere coincidence. I mean, it’s not like Kediri was the only kingdom in the world which ruled around that time, nor it’s the only kingdom that left out epigraphs and prophecy. The similarities were not really that convincing either…
However, the name of its most known king, it’s the one that strike me the most. His name was King Joyoboyo.
when you first heard about “Joy Boy” did it ring any bell for you? I bet it didn’t. I mean, did the name sound so random, lol.(There was a thought about Joy Boy being an okama name but that couldn’t be serious.)
Reference wise, I didn’t recall anyone managed to find a real person named Joy Boy or anything close to that who might be related… well, until my friend posted this theory.
Kediri and king Joyoboyo have been quite known here, though I believe very few foreigners know about it. However Oda is genius and unexpectable when it comes to using reference, so this might be plausible.

This thread is just…amazing, I can totally see some of this happening expecially FI destruction at the same time while Marinejois is getting demolished. Remember how Sanji said this is my All-Blue when he was in FI, that's because it is located in exact same place 
The finale laid out in this theory would certainly make for a grand conclusion. It checks many boxes and backs them up with compelling evidence, both in-context and from real world sources of inspiration, but as others have said it neglects to mention several things, key amongst them the origins and 'purpose' of Devil Fruits.
Whether it's right on some points or completely wrong it is very interesting and any theories this compelling, and this well put together, deserve to be discussed.

After thinking about it for a while, the idea of man-made Red Line and Grand Line might actually be a better reason behind the project of One Piece, than destroying the red line for mere sake of traveling freedom. I have a theory in mind about it, though it is a little bit too fantastic and needs some works…
so, the ocean was once united under the reign of the ancient kindom. It was a perfect world, untill the 20 kingdoms conspired to steal something extremely valuable which belong to the ancient kingdom.
They managed to steal the treasure. Apparently, its existence was something dangerous to 20 kingdoms and they intended to destroy it, but it couldn't be destroyed. Desperate, the 20 kindoms hid it instead on All Blue AND made sure the AK won't get it back by artificially constructing Red Line and Grand Line on the location (somehow). Short after they build Mariejoa on Red Line as an act of defense and a declaration of war to the AK.
the AK went utterly mad and answered their declaration by building the ancient weapons to get everything back to normal and reclaim the treasure. They lost the war, eventually... and the treasure has been buried beneath the red line since then, waiting for someone in the name of the AK to reclaim it.
there are different versions of this theory but the most important parts were :
1. Red Line and Grand Line were both man-made, so they could be eliminated by technological means
2. there's something extremely valuable hidden beneath either Reverse Mountain or Mariejoa --or both. No, it's not all blue nor the united ocean, it's beyond that. It is none other than the real One Piece that people seek. All blue and united ocean are just mere bonuses.

This is a great theory, but I think Joy Boy and the AK had to have a better reason for destroying Grandline and Fishman Island than just uniting the seas. It doesn't seem like uniting the seas is worth starting (and losing) a war over. If this magnificent theory is true, we will get more information later on about why the four seas need to be joined (and why some countries were so against it).

Many animals are capable of passing behaviors and information on to their descendants in ways that humans are not. It is possible that the memory of a united ocean is present in their genetic code, and that all young whales are naturally inclined to try to destroy the Red Line.
@ Stocaz, I don't think the ancient people actually succeeded into doing it.
Them NOT being able to do it fits the pattern of the Inherited Will perfectly. So that somebody years later (in this case 800) CAN do it.
Also, I don't think it's possible to rebuild the Red Line just like that.

Average giant races live for 300 years; that giant skypiea serpent has been living for at least 400 years; and the school of seakings at fishman island said that they were told to pull Noah someday. Nobody was able to cummunicate with the Seakings except the first Poseidon who lived more than 800 years ago– which could only mean one thing : Poseidon told them herself. yeah, they are that old.
Laboon species are probably the closest in size to the Seakings so they could actually live that long as well.
The biggest problem I have with this theory is that it would result in a calm and peaceful world. And such a world doesn't lead to adventures. Even the chaotic magnetic field in the grandline makes travelling harder and the trip more exiting. And as Oda said: The strawhats are in love with adventure. And Luffy even said at reverse mountain that they could just have another go at the grandline after finishing it for the first time.
There are many more such situations but basically Luffy won't destroy the chance for adventure and as such the final outcome is for him not a good one.
This theory is quite interesting, and I believe it's possible. As far as I'm concerned, OnePiece is a fictional story so anything goes, everything is possible. Even the most illogical things could happen. But I'm not saying that the theory is illogical or that it's true. Anyway, as far as I know, grand line is only accessible through the reverse mountain and through mariejoa. The calm belt makes it almost impossible for ships to directly directly from the Blues and to the grand line. And it's possible that the red line and even the calm belt is man made considering that someone could have done this since anyone could have any sort of power with the help of the devil fruits. If in case it's true that the calm belt and the red line is man made, it apparently serves the purpose of separating the north, south, east, and west blue. And All blue could have existed where reverse mountain currently is and that reverse mountain could have been the result of the rising of the ground on the ocean where the 4 blues meet. I also believe that one piece is not an object but a state of being, or something abstract.

Destroying an huge mass of land just for the sake of sailing is some kind of terrorism and I dont think Oda/Luffy would take that path. There are probably people living there, and I'm not talking about Mariejoa.
It's not like people can't be evacuated if such a scenario comes true. After all, only tenryuu-holes and the Gorousei live in MJ and on Rivers' Mountain only Krokus (and Laboon) lives.

Either way, there are ways to make an island unreachable by Log Port and I start to think that the WG did the same thing to Raftel, so nobody can reach it by needle.

3 blue seas are yet to be explored. Unlike the GL, they've been normal in the first place, but you can find equally weird and fascinating islands there like the Torino kingdom and Ohara. So I don't think such fact as "they're normal seas" would easily kill Luffy's curiosity of venturing the hell out of them. The same goes for the GL, some of the islands there were probably weird from the very beginning and not affected by GL anomalies at all.

someone suggested the exact same idea at another forum. I love the idea, seems like the only possible reason too if the theory was true.
The biggest problem I have with this theory is that it would result in a calm and peaceful world. And such a world doesn't lead to adventures. Even the chaotic magnetic field in the grandline makes travelling harder and the trip more exiting. And as Oda said: The strawhats are in love with adventure. And Luffy even said at reverse mountain that they could just have another go at the grandline after finishing it for the first time.
There are many more such situations but basically Luffy won't destroy the chance for adventure and as such the final outcome is for him not a good one.
Great point , thats why i guess Luffy will create the world in "One Piece" in another way.Could be metaphorically mean like "under peace and trust" or something like that.This is oda anyway.

I don't seem to understand though, why would Sky Islands cease to exist? Weatheria seems to be doing just fine with floating all over the world. Skypiea too seems to have no problems just drifting on its clouds.

Yes, Weatheria is doing fine, because it is managed by the scientist living there. They decide its movement. For other sky islands is not so. Why the sky islands exist only above Grand Line? Is it because of GL environment or not? We don't know that.

Yes, additionally in the ch.169 p.10 Smoker says, that this kairoseki, therefore substance "pyroglobin", exists only in a certain sea. So far we do not know the exact location of this sea. We only speculate on that.
Fascinating theory! I'm fully with "One Piece" being a continantal state and the etymology of Joy Boy is quite evident. But there are still so many unsolved problems:
1. Why should the WG hide a whole century, when it was only a "project"? They could easily just erase this part of history! Or has the whole culture, economy, science and so on of the void century been straightened to this project? What was it, that granted such wealth to the AK?
2. Can it really be, that it's "only" the freedom of movement that inspired the OP-Project? I'm really not too sure about the benifits of such a project. On the other hand the ancient weapons plus Noah fit pretty good into this theory.
3. If the opponents to this project won, why then the project of building a bridge at Tequila Wolf was started just by the World Nobles 100 years later?
4. Why didn't Roger complete this task, when it comes "only" to bomb two locations?
I know, I brought up many questions and no answer, thats because I'm still impressed by Ashuras theory, BUT I'm just wondering if the state of "One Piece" have once been accomplished and whether it were the good or the bad boys, who brought this plan up. In my eyes there are more reasons for such an organization like the WG is, to follow the plan of OP, instead of fighting it: boundless control. So there have to be more reasons to back or refuse "One Piece", than we could know at the moment:

It honestly sounds like the plot of a Bond villain. irl if you destroyed a large landmass like a huge chunk of continent it would alter the hell out of weather and sea currents, which would lead to some possibly apocalyptic conditions on certain parts of the world.
Human and animal/plant ecosystems have come to rely on certain circumstances local to them.

Thinking in OP terms, the Grand Line supports crazy islands through it's crazy weather. It's pretty much impossible for all sorts of climates to exist seemingly at random. Arid deserts in Alabasta, sweltering tropical rainforests in Little Garden, Mediterranean climate in Dressrosa, snowy forests in Drum Kingdom, tropical jungles in Jaya etc etc.
Pretty sure that these aren't results of natural climate. And are because of the strangeness of the Grand Line.

This theory doesn't have any holes, though you should mention that Roger was only able to reach Raftel because he had the ability to hear the 'voice of all things'. Rayleigh did not specifically say that this ability was attributed to a Devil's Fruit however so one could place it in the Haki category as an even rarer occurrence than someone to possess the CoC. To theorise even further, the Sea King's mentioned that other than Gol D. Roger, Luffy was the first non-posiedon character to be able to hear the sea king's. This is probably the first link to Luffy also having this ability. But there is a difference between the way Roger used his CoL (Colour of Listener [Voice of all things]) and the way Luffy has displayed it as Roger was clearly able to use this ability to the extent of finding Raftel without an Ohara scholar. There are a few possibilities for this reason:
CoL may, like the other Haki disciplines, be subject to the user's proficiency with it. Roger, as the Pirate King, would have been the strongest of his Era, this would include Haki use, Luffy would therefore not be experienced enough in Haki (certainly being totally unaware of his CoL as it currently stands).
Roger may well have been naturally suited to this CoL and therefore naturally possess a more heightened version of Luffy's to the extent to which we know he used it (finding Raftel through Poneglyph's), similar to how some users are more proficient at CoA instead of CoO.
It was a DF ability so Roger was just super bad ass like Shanks and didn't rely on DF powers in fights. (Still waiting on the Roger-Shanks flashback for the Mugiwara link).
I like this theory because it manages to solve all of the SH's dreams (problems). Furthermore it supplies us with the WG's covert intentions, explains Noah and the ancient weapons without sounding too conspiratorial. Personally I think Oda's vision will differ from this slightly but the foundations you've highlighted seem sound. The great thing with One Piece though is that Oda lays all of these foundations out throughout the manga and even though some of us are trying to piece it together or are sure they've pieced it together it can all change - When Poseidon was revealed as the mermaid princess with the ability to talk to the sea king's. Thumps up!

Well you've sullied the reasoning here. The now extinct great kingdom, which we are to believe was both powerful and peace loving, would have naturally wanted to expand out of both instinct and morality. We can assume the then WG (coalition of opposing kingdom's) was not the most humanitarian of government's and may have well been lacking in technology to the extent where citizen's standards of living paled in comparison to the extinct kingdom. Efficient expansion in this theory would have required the elimination of the two great obstacles to continental travel, the grand line and red line. Another Kingdom's expansion is a very threatening scenario for any other existing kingdom's hence opposition, cue war etc. Real world logic on ecosystems aren't applicable to a story such as One Piece where we have islands made of dessert…
Convenient sailing = Efficient travel = Globalisation = ???
