I was reading that old Cable and Deadpool series and a question about his healing factor popped into my mind
Can guys like Deadpool or Wolverine actually drown? Or does the healing factor by-pass that somehow

I'm not sure about Wade, but I know that its been established that as long as a single cell of his remains Wolverine will come back to life.

It was confirmed (for now, at least) that, yes, Wolverine can be killed by drowning.
Uncanny X-Force 34 spoilers:
! Wolverine kills his son, Daken, by holding his face in a puddle and suffocating him.

! I'm not sure if Daken's death can determine Wolverine's powers.
Daken has a normal human mother, right? So it would make sense if his powers aren't as good as his dad's.

! Daken tried to drown Wolverine in that same story arc and would've been succesful if Wolverine wasn't saved.
! Wolverine has two human parents anyway. Powers aren't determined by parents.
Oh, duh!
Whoops, you guys are right!
Just caved in and bought the Vol. 1 hardcovers for Batman, Action Comics, Justice League, Green Lantern, Aquaman and The Flash.
Time to start reading the DC New 52 universe!!!
If I hadn't already sworn I wasn't buying any more Spiderman until they fixed One More Day, I'd probably stop reading it now.
But its been a couple years later and his deal with the devil/divorce from MJ/abortion of their child/revival of Harry/reversion to web shooters/undoing his identity reveal to the world are all still in place, (I understand the details of the retcon have been retconned, but thats all still in place regardless) so I don't much need to be bothered by what's going on now.
! Cause you know, Dock Ock trying to rape MJ by letting her think he's Peter, and Peter giving his blessing is soooo what I want from Spiderman.
! You know Pete, you could have called MJ or left her a note or something. "Hey, I know this will sound weird but… that's Dock Ock in my body. If I'm acting weird, don't trust me. Get Doctor Strange and Reed Richards on that, pronto."
At least there's still Ultimate Spidey where…
oh, right.
He's dead in that.
I bought Action Comics (New 52) volume 1 today. I like Grant Morrison and from what I've seen, Morales' art isn't so bad in this, so I chose it.

To be honest I find the Ultimate Universe great. Miles Morales is a good character and I enjoy reading Ultimate Spider-man.
Gah i need another deadpool fix! I've read the deadpool series with T-Ray, the mini series and cable and deadpool. What else is there?

You're in luck, Deadpool is the new Wolverine… he's in like 20 books a month now, including three or four titles of his own.

I heard good things about his new solo that started last month. It's written by two comedians (Gerry Duggan and Brian Posehn) and drawn by Tony Moore (co-creator of The Walking Dead).
Most Deadpool comics suck though.

That Deadpool popularity boom burst pretty quick. He only has one solo, a team book and the occasional mini now.

Daniel Way's Deadpool series was really solid. Ran for about 60 issues. The X-Men and Spider-Man guest appearances were especially great, and the DEAD arc was a lot of fun. Posehn and Duggan's Deadpool is pretty funny. He's fighting dead presidents.
Peter David had a stroke yesterday.
http://www.peterdavid.net/2012/12/30/i-have-had-a-stroke/
In a bit of shock right now, I've been reading his stuff since I was a kid. Really hope he makes a full recovery, strokes can be very serious.
Damn…. I hope he fully recovers. Even through I only started reading comics a few years ago. I really enjoy his run on She-Hulk.

So he's pretty much the new wolverine huh. That's good new for me
Most Deadpool comics suck though.
Blasphemy! Kinda true but still blasphemy.
But to be fair that's true of most of the big names.
Thanks for the suggestions guys.
Superior Spider-Man #1= Weaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaak
! Otto shows his a genius with his upgrades while defeating the "new" Sinister Six, then a rapey pervert and of course Peter is not completely gone.
Didn't someone predicted this already?!
This will be the best X-Men book EVER!
Man Marvel's digital comics app is a complete mess
There's huge continuity gaps smack dab in the middle of the comics and you can't turn of that crappy square by square reading mode
You should use Comixology.
I, Vampire is being cancelled. Constantine is joining the plot of Amethyst, thus becoming the magic version of Batman. What are you doing, DC. >:^I
Just found out about Hellblazer.
Excuse me while I commit a merciless global genocide on everybody in the world named Didio.
I read a couple comics recently, Batman court of owls and a couple green lanterns, which also include this one called the weaponer. Both of them were pretty good.
I am reading the first Kamandi: Last Boy on Earth omnibus. It is good. A lot of elements from Planet of the Apes, I think.
Randomly stumbled upon this (probably ancient) cover and all I gotta say is
WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOUR SPINE ?!!!

Welcome to Liefeld country.
!
Welcome to Liefeld country.
I know about Liefeld. But still.
This just looks like the shield threw him off and he drew Cap both from profile and at an angle at the same time.
But above, it's even inked and pencilled in a way that looks like bones are almost sticking out, that's what makes it look like some horrifying accident.
The sucking of Leifeld comics is one of those things on which most everybody seems to agree.
Yet the dude practically defined an era and probably sold millions upon millions. Robby's buisness sure is one hell of a strange one
Yeah, for whatever reason, Liefeld is an artist that everyone agrees has terrible anatomy, and yet, is one of the most sccessful and best selling comic artists of all time.
Its really bizarre.
There's stylization and abstract art and going for a certain aesthetic… and then there's just being so wrong its painful to look at.
Though I am one of the only people in the world that agrees the eagle on Cap's mask looks better than the giant A.
On the whole late 80's early 90's comics looked bad. On my merry way through the various X-men comics i've now gone from John Byrne pleasing my eyes with unbelivable beauty, via a whole bunch of forgetful stuff, to oh dear god my eyes. And the story seems to decline at about the same rate as the artwork. Inferno was all kinds of terrible and it wasn't even the worst of it all. So i guess back in the days maybe Rob didn't have that much in the line of competition?
But that old 40 worst Liefeld drawings article is still one of the funniest things on the web.
I have no idea how in the world DC ever thought about putting Liefeld on the New 52. Glad he's gone!
Finally got Brightest Day vol 3, the action was good, but some stuff in it I didn't liked so much…now I'm looking for what will be next to read that comes after it.

I certainly hope you're not criticizing Paul Smith and Marc Silvestri. Those guys were the shit (Silvestri only draws cheesecake now though). What's really sad is that people still think Jim Lee is a good artist. The only thing that made him better than Liefeld is that his anatomy was almost correct.
Inferno was the conclusion to a series editorially mandated events that started with cocoon Jean and ended with Maddie's death. Maddie Pryor is still much loved in X-fandom though. She was a great character and had much more personality than Jean. She also set the bar for being the character fans root for even though Marvel paints her as the villain, a feat her dearest husband would also accomlish some 14 years later.
I hated the Outback years when I first read them because it was so different from what I was used to. But then I reread them recently and really enjoyed it. Post-Inferno is really shit though. Especially once Jim Lee starts drawing and co-plotting. His nostalgia porn ruined the X-Men for a good decade (and sadly is still the most most recognisable iteration because of the cartoon and everyone growing up with it).
Mostly i'm critizing whoever invented 80's fashion. Page after page of men in teeny tiny ehm sports bra's i guess? And jeans shorts.
Worst part of it all is i'm like halfway through the X-men and still not a sign of Gambit. Sigh
Reading up on the new Super Man movie, I learned that Comics Supes has ditched Lois for Wonder Woman.
Lol, Comics.

Atleast he didn't sell her to the devil

They're making Act of God right about something.
There is no excuse.

Yeah. its not divorce when reality is rewritten!
It was later retconned to MJ selling Peter to the devil because she couldn't handle the stress of being Spider-Man's wife anymore. Know your Quesada fuck-ups, guys (this issue: MISOGYNY).
Speaking of ret-cons. As i understood it Gambit was suppoed to be a part of the Marauders attack on the Morlocks
But the dude never showed up. I take it that this is also because of extensive tinkering with past stories?
No, he was never part of the attack. He just took a job from Mister Sinister which involved finding the Morlocks and leading the Marauders into the sewers. Once he found out that they were going to kill everyone, Gambit turned heel and tried to save as many Morlocks as possible (including lil' Marrow).
Of course, everyone who read the Mutant Massacre knows we actually saw how the Marauders located the Morlocks; by following two mutants.
This particular twist came from Scott Lobdell, who seemed to have made it his life's duty to ruin great franchises (X-Men, Batman, Teen Titans).
@RobbyBevard:
Yeah. its not divorce when reality is rewritten!
Wow, was that truly the reasoning? Would it smear Spider-Mans image or what? I would personally think dealing with Satan trumps divorce in that case.
@The:

Yeah, divorce would make Spidey too old to relate to and Quesada also believed divorce is too much of a bad thing for a Marvel comic or some shit.
Nobody wants a heroe who has to make alimony payments
But i kinda get his reasoning. I mean i vastly prefer the old spidey stuff to the never but if you want to do that stuff launch a seperate line where he's still in high school. Don't make some insane plot twist that returns everything to the status quo of the sixties. There really should be a special division within the company that acts as a counter-balance to the editorial staffs insane wishes
And thansk for explaining that Kai, i guess i had gotten the bits and pieces i had heard wrong

I often wonder if rendering every single instalment of a series from the past decade and a half inconsequential with one fell swoop gives the editors a raging hard on or something, like it literaly makes them feel like god.
Cause lord knows petty sexual gratification clouding your mind seems to be the only logical explanation I can think of for why editors do things they know EVERYONE will hate.

Spiderman ended with One More Day. Any other stories set since then are in an alternate universe and don't count since they don't acknowledge the 20 years or so of stories I grew up on. So any retcons they put in since then to try and playcate the pissed off fans don't matter to me. Not until they actually FIX what they did and bring that horrible story to its proper conclusion.
Because its not like Mary Jane making a deal with the devil is any better. (And Peter still gets his public identity wiped, Harry revived, and loses his organic webshooters as a bonus!)

That's the worst part, they actually HAVE that. The Ultimate line IS Peter still in high school and its super successful and has been going more than 10 years now (and so has thus accumulated a little continuity baggage of its own… but not much due to Bendis' pacing.) The only real problem with the Ultimate universe is Spiderman is the only title in it anyone cares about, (And the first two Ultimates series) every other series in the line is only a mini or gets cancelled eventually.
They also have the Marvel Adventures line which is directly aimed at kiddies where Peter is... still in high school. And every cartoon iteration.
Once Ultimate line worked they should have felt FREER to let the status quo in the main marvel universe change. They have the safe nostalgic version, let the long running ongoing evolve. But nooo...
Also. Peter Parker is currently dead in both realities.
Yeah, divorce would make Spidey too old to relate to and Quesada also believed divorce is too much of a bad thing for a Marvel comic or some shit.
…Because dealing with Satan is much easierto relate to? The hero asking Mephistopheles for help is less of a buzzkil than divorce?
...
I don't think I understand this man.
I'm no Spidey buff myself, but I concur with Robby. What I actually did see from the series interested me; Peters powers evolved, his identity was revealed, aunt May was dying, he was in a real pinch, the story was going places...
And they just dismiss it all. All that potential, down the drain.
