The gas needs to come into contact with skin to petrify them.
Since Brook does not have skin, all he need to do is hold his breath, and he will be fine.

It's supposed to work like volcano ash (i.e. Pompeji). It's covers and petrifies everything it touches. Brook may have survived because he doesn't have skin or lungs, but that would be kinda illogical. Then again it's One Piece we are talking about. :ermm:

Why would it be illogical ?? The canons were working fine even afterthe gas was released, and Franky was able to go out in in his 'Big emperor' form. So, I don't see why Brook would not be able to move after being in the gas.

The gas had already spread it's ashes outside and petrified everything so Franky could go out in Big Emperor. The idea of petrifying was that while victims were conscious, they couldn't move because of ashes covering them. This should work on Brook too because his limbs would be stuck in place.
BTW what cannons are you talking about?
I wouldn't be surprised if Brook used some revive fruit powers to form a chilling gust of wind to blow the gas away for a brief moment.

Caesar had a couple of cannons outside to take out walls of the lab.
I wonder what Monet's up to currently… can't imagine her simply lying there, being petrified by Shinokuni. Girl's surely got a plan B for such cases (or at least I hope as much). Vergo, on the other hand, is probably chilling in the SAD room while not giving two shits about his predicament.
Okay chapter, better than the last one. But those two completely uninspired characters with the most bland powers might cause more stalling in this arc, I hope they get it over with and move to Dressrosa asap since this arc has barely been of any point.

So, on your 3rd month reading One Piece huh? Those early days are magical.

U need to reread the whole arc ,because if this is the first time you are reading only 1 chapter a week u will miss out on some great scenes and the point of the arc. This arc was perfect so far cause oda needs to face Luffy with a Yonkou and Doflamingo but they were 2 strong opponents as of yet so now we have a pirate alliance of the supernovas ahead of us , a trip to wano island (in my opinion) , stuff about vegapunk , Law's plan , Doflamingo arc , Tea party where Big moms treasure will explode in her face ,we finnaly found out what doflamingo was thinking when he said at Shabondy : "the era of slaves is over the eara of smileys is beginning, things about the changes in the world-marines ( Coby's progress the new schibukai , marines plan that law mentioned -" they were preparing for something" ) u can't say this arc has no point when it was an intro into a larger arc kind of like Whiskey peak was intro into Alabasta :).

What is the point of the adventure if you only care about the destination?

Aside from being scared to death(doubt she plain on not being able to put herself together), Tashigi took her out. If Tashigi can't even take care of that she really is useless.
I think it'll be an uneasy task to cure shinokuni.
For it to happen, VEGAPUNK is needed.
If other than him come, the island the people is cured by itsele, then CC is like a fodder character.
And so does changing back kinemon's son to normal. And don't forget the kids too!
So we'll witness a lot of chopper and franky scene too in the future because of the man (vegapunk).
the matter is.. How can SH meet vegapunk?

Monet's not going to die, though. This is One Piece.

I know. Just saying she shouldn't be able to go out or have been able to forshadowing this. I suppose she will simply dive in the snow.
She probably used her "Kamakura" igloo.
Hm, looks like prediction was spot on with Franky and Baby 5/Buffalo; only time will tell what happens next. Also, anyone else thinking that Monet somehow snuck aboard the Sunny and is currently waiting to ambush Luffy and the others when they get there? Stupid I know, but hey, it would make a decent surprise.
So, on your 3rd month reading One Piece huh? Those early days are magical.
Won't be surprised if the guy came from Narutoforums. Lots of OP-hating HxH fans there.
Calling it now baby 5 / franky laser battle. _

I get your point. But the journey itself, or this arc of it, is quite crap. A journey isn't about stalling. It's like they're just reaching a dead-end, returning to the main route at the end of each arc, and hitting another dead end with arcs like these, till they get it right with arcs like Skypiea.
@Romance huh? I started reading OP around a year ago, and caught up in….July I think
@nefra.....re-read...the whole arc? Nah i'm better off catching up to vagabond or something

If you can't take criticism, which isn't even directed at you personally, and call it "hating", I suggest you take butt medicine.

The funny thing is according to your logic, Skypiea shouldn't be much better.
It starts from a "dead end" with a new story, then "stalls" quite a bit and then ends with back on the "main journey" with another "dead end" and a new story to start.
Turns out it is just as pointless as Punk Hazard is, or as a matter of fact any other OP arc because all of them have a formula like that.
Especially if you looked at it in terms of sagas, not lone arcs.
–----
In Punk Hazard the only things that could've been made shorter is the running and some of the stuff with the kids(that is maybe around 2-3 chapters of content that could've been scrapped). The rest is fine.
In Skypiea, so far only the dials, Robin's revelation and the foreshadowing of haki and Merry were important. The whole arc essentially could've been cut by half or even more.
Unless you mean of course that you really don't like the story itself, that is Doflamingo and his broker's network, the alliances, ties to a Yonkou and Wano being set up, more mystery with devil fruits thanks to SAD and SMILE, a lot of plot thread and character introductions this arc in general; well, in the end it all comes down to an opinion, I guess.
The figh will be short next chapter and it ends by ceaser escaping or law reaching the spot and sayng something so awesome that some members will complain were .
.

Yeah I figured as much. Your One Piece reading comprehension hasn't matured yet. That and/or you go in with the mindset of "why is this considered to be so good? X series did something like this way better."
To not see the clear and obvious value that this arc will have on the rest of the series is just laughable.
Gonna get flamed for this.. but I feel like Baby 5 is a potential SH candidate. (I usually don't like talking about new SH members, but Baby 5 feels really unique to me.)
I hope frank show us alot moore but he is inside the suit so but this 2 arent stronger than CC, vergo or monet so maybe he can beat them, im really curius to know where the crew is going next, dress rosa or big momma or another island.

Meh, I'm still holding out hope that Monet somehow becomes part of the crew. The crew could wind up on the Sunny where Monet's waiting for them with like a gun looking all desperate because she failed her mission and she's terrified at what Doflamingo will do to her, so she goes all mental. Then, she passes out because of her wounds, wakes up in Chopper's medical room and Luffy agrees to protect her from Doflamingo when they eventually face him and his crew. This causes Monet to trust the Strawhats more, so much so that she eventually becomes the crew's lookout/scientist.
It's fun to dream sometimes.
I've always thought if Monet were to join anyone it's Law cause he still has her heart.

Right now, I have no idea what Oda is gonna do with that plot point.
Also, what happened with Smoker's heart?

Ceasar was supposed to have it, right? I assume both his and Monet's heart thing will be resolved soon.
Well, there we have another reason to not judge the arc yet. A lot of the things are still unresolved. Honestly, really looking forward to the fall out for this one.

I don't think Caesar had their hearts on his possession, he doesn't seem like the kind of person to have that kind of foresight. He probably hid them somewhere in his secret room where Usopp will them and give them back.

Well, of course. I meant that as in Ceasar had Smoker's heart when he was stuck in the cage.
I don't see why people hated Skypiea Saga so much. I for one loved it. It felt like a real Adventure arc, the writing was superb, the story was excellent and there were great characters and really amazing moments. It did drag a little, especially in the anime but Oda couldn't have told it better any other way.
ps. I'm still praying for Monet to join the crew
Edit: Ceasar has Smokers heart, Law has Monet's and Vergo had Law's

Yeah, I'm betting either Usopp or Luffy will find it accidentally.

Don't hate Skypiea and don't really love it either, it just hasn't been that relevant in the long run and just has some really draggy parts, especially the priests.

What do you mean by "relevant"? Yeah, it was mostly a story contained to that particular island, but most of the arcs are like that. But the events of Skypiea had plenty of carry over to the rest of the story. If you count Jaya(I do), then you have Luffy's first meeting with Blackbeard(BB missed the chance to capture Luffy and instead went on to capture Ace(hugely relevant in the long run)), and even the first glimpse of Doflamingo's reach with the appearance of Bellamy.
Then you have the history of Shandora, which ties into the Void Century and the Shandora poneglyph, which tell the location of Poseidon(which we just recently got to see in person). And Gold Roger's message which solidified Robin's drive to tie the poneglyphs messages together.
Usopp got dials that he used to make weapons for himself and Nami, which were huge powerups for them both.
The crew also got a lot of gold that ended up paying for their new ship that will take them to the end of the Grand Line.
Not to mention, Enel escaped to Fairy Vearth, and though this is just speculation, what he found in those ruins regarding Moon people descending to the Blue Star seems like it will be incredibly important to the history of the One Piece world.
And if nothing else, the time they spent in Skypiea gave Robin time to gain interest in the Straw Hats and justify her sacrifice for them.
If anything, Skypiea grows more relevant in the long run IMO.
Unless that's not what you meant by "relevant".
But yeah, I agree that parts were draggy. Specifically the Priests challenges/survival game.

Nobody can be fodderize to this degree by a strawhat and become one. And she's way too evil. Maye she can get it on with Law but I would be kind of sad if he took such fodder.

To me those things sort of seem still minor, in that it's just mostly foreshadowing, there is no pay-off in that arc in terms of overall plot. It still has relevance, but too little for what length it has. This is probably just me, though.

I can't imagine a woman who wouldn't be insensitive to Sanji in the crew.
She is fodder against big shots, but she would be great asset for law in terms of batle strategy, she lost against zoro but she has enough for like 3 or 4 of the crew.

The problem isn't about her real(Usopp was weak), but rather how fodderize she was. I doubt you can found worst than that in the whole OP history. I would feel bad if one of the supernova end up with her(scared to death dammit). At first I really loved the idea of Law getting her in his crew( too cool and evil for strawhats) but after such treatment I really don't know.
Baby 5 and Buffalo vs Franky should be very interesting… hopefully a good fight with Law intervening.
I just remembered that there is still no explanation to the room with the frozen people…

may be they are the guys who proposed monet and see she froze them up!! :ninja:

This has already been discussed to death. We've all come to the conclusion that they are the World Government's failed giantification experiments.
I just remembered that there is still no explanation to the room with the frozen people…
Oh ya! If they got loose it would make for one hell of a climax!

So, just because she was unlucky to face Zoro, she is suddenly considered too weak to join a Supernova? Despite the fact that she is/was part of a Shichibukai's crew and is probably strong enough to beat half of the Strawhats? Not to mention how she almost defeated Luffy and would have defeated Tashigi easily (Marine Captain with Haki) if it weren't for Zoro?
