I'm chiming in to say that I'm in the same boat (or coffin) with everyone else regarding the handling of Phantom Blood by David Productions. The adaptation was fantastic. The pacing and acting really helped make what could've been a so-so adaptation of a so-so story into an immensely enjoyable one! I thought Phantom Blood was okay in manga format but now I have a new found respect for it after the anime adaptation. Hell, the anime adaptation even made Jonathan, yes, Jonathan Joestar into a memorable character who will live on in our hearts. The final episode of this arc only cemented that.
The only issues I had with the adaptation pretty much stemmed from the corner-cutting of animation by the studio, the omission of the Wang Chan battle and Erina escaping in the coffin. The coffin bit in particular considering a certain scene in part 3. Hopefully David Productions will be aware of this and come up with an appropriate workaround by the time part 3 hits.
But all in all, kudos to David Production for the adaptation! Looking forward to Battle Tendency!
