That doesn't make much sense. Caesar is causing all sorts of trouble to them, why wouldn't he just knock him out?

When did it become obvious that Vergo wasn't going down. They were both drawing blood from each other. Vergo is the one who stated that Smoker was fighting unlike himself in a weird manner that worked against him.

So why would Smoker be doing that unless his goal wasn't to defeat Vergo himself but to get Law back his heart. It's only because Smoker was fighting the way that he was that Vergo takes him down but even then Smoker doesn't seem completely defeated. he's still talking and acting fine while on the ground so its not hard to assume that he wouldn't be able to just stand back up.
Just mean Smoker isn't 100% sure to win and no way in hell is going to death while indebted to a pirate.

And I'm not so impressed with that "slash", it can't be compared with a real swordsman slash of Zoro or Mihawk because the source of it is his DF, not his actual swordsman strength.

You're looking at this far too narrowly.
For starters he released Shinokuni, keeps trying to trap them in different parts of the building, and kept making holes in the lab until Shinokuni started pouring inside, making everyone run for their lives.
How many marines got taken out by the gas already? Only a matter of time before same happens to Strawhats, and none of it would be an issue if Caesar was out of the picture from his first run-in with Luffy.
Besides that who knows what else he may have up his sleeve. Luffy has all of 5 minutes to keep "toying" with him before he turns into a Luffy statue.
This helps: to be told, One Piece manga doesn't need neither of these statements:
1. Luffy is faster than Zoro
2. Zoro is faster than Luffy
3. Luffy is as faster as Zoro
4. Nami is faster than all Straw hats, (which is obviously the true.)Note: we have never saw X until now is not the same than X is not true or possible.
Since gear 2nd is about speed I don't why people can't assume Luffy is faster. But since even the Octopus manage to block it easy I don't really know.

The problem is that after this chapter, filling the room with smoke is a weakpoint when fighting against Haki users. I think Oda robbed himself of some cool options regarding Smoker's powers, but maybe I simply misunderstand Vergo's comments.
yeah the limit between his smoke and other elements either "being" part of their body or sort of left over shards (magma fists, ice clones) are no longer affected by haki is rather vague, so perhaps it's more like if you're giving your element constitution it's still a theoritcal part of your body because you can control it, whereas an ice clone that's already been shaped and left no longer is (akainu can't control the direction of his magma fists once they're launched). Though there's still the question if logia's can control their elements in their surroundings not created by their fruits. Caesar can remove oxygen from the atmosphere around him, but i don't see aokiji being able to turn an iceburg into an ice sculpture or akainu making underground volcano's erupt so yeah still a lot more detail that needs to be sent into that area.

You know a one punch K.O would do ( Luffy never killed anyway). I just suppose that Ceasar is resistant for some reason.( most likely plot, but maybe he have some past as a fighter, or lessen the impact somehow). But Luffy have always give a good beating to his enemy without plying. He's not gonna start that now that he's in a hurry.

Ah, then we are in agreement, although I still think Caesar is shown to be tougher than he should be.
I suspect Oda may have decided he needs to nerf Luffy and other Strawhats post time-skip in order not to make things too one-sided, so most enemies have turned into tanks.
Hody did get hit a lot more, but Hody is also tougher to begin with, and was enhanced, that's my point. If it wasn't for ES it would have been over for him with just the slash from Zoro.
If Oda wants him to be that tough, then he is going to be so tough and you think that he is shown to be tougher than he should be because you underestimate him. And I don't think that Caesar is so tough, I mean, he got a few punches and he is already crying like a baby

Actually, CoA Hardening has more power than his G2 attacks which in turn are faster, just look at the fight against the dragon where his G2 was too weak to seriously hurt the dragon´s skin while Hardening easily broke through it. So your complain is totally justified, CC should never be able to take shots that took out a Pacifista or Hody.

Luffy probably tries to avoid using g2 unless he feels he really has to. He over used it pre time-skip, and after the war he probably relized/Rayleigh may have told him to not rely on such a harmful power boost unless there's no other way.
The reason is quite obvious, his DF mastery and his physical power, durability and so forth have nothing to do with each other. CC is an extremely smart guy, so he probably figured out all the ways he can apply his DF effectively and perfected his usage but that does not mean that he has trained physically, especially considering that he is experimenting all the time. Vegapunk´s character (at least what we know at this point) is more realistic because he needs a bodyguard. The examples with Law and Chopper are also badly chosen because both of them have to get stronger to achieve their respective goals, CC does not. Robin on the other hand is a good example in which physical power and DF mastery have nothing to do with each other. She grew stronger over the TS, namely because she improved the usage of her DF but do you seriously think that she could take all those shots from Luffy? I certainly do not.

The people you mentioned have a background requiring them to fight. Not only Caesar lacks that background, but he doesn't have much of an ability as a fighter.

It isn't popular because there is nothing to back it up. Why would he be tough when he isn't shown being tough in any way aside from taking a surprising amount of hits without going down for no apparent reason?

I agree. It's been extremely annoying watching Luffy attempt to defeat a guy who by all accounts should've been defeated long ago. CC is a scientist. He has no haki abilities and he doesn't appear to be a guy who has had much experience in physical confrontations, in the NW or otherwise. He's mastered his DF ability for sure, but that alone should not be a reason for him to keep taking that beating that he has been. It's beyond ridiculous at this point. I mean, Crocodile (a guy with a ton of experience) also mastered his DF and he was beaten by much, much less.
I think CC is a very tough guy (For a scientist) physically, he gives me the impression that he has experiemented on himself in various ways to improve his strength. But he is the type that depends on the wrong types of strength, thus why he'll lose to Luffy. He is also a veteran of this world who has been dwelling in the new world for who knows how long, he is not push over. He just happens to be facing the man who will become pirate king.

But when it became obvious that Vergo wasn't going down, Smoker had to settle with getting Law's heart back in order to repay the debt.
Wrong. Defeating Vergo is a thing that would never count as returning the favor, since it was something that Smoker already wanted to do because of Vergo's doing, not because of aiding Law.
If you owe something to someone, yo have to Do something exlusively to help him in order to pay the debt. You can end up doing something that ends up helping (As something collateral) the person you must return the favor, but since you would have done that thing even if you didnt have to pay back your debt, that doesnt count as returning the favor in my book. I think because of this Smoker chose to retrieve Law's heart from Vergo and let him finish him off: That way, he really got out of his way to save him and pay his debt.
So the COLOUR of armament is black…. :ninja:

Interesting question, one thing to note is that there is no longer a hole in Smoker's chest like there was when it was first taken.

I second this. I mean he had no trouble with the fishmen pirates, not even an officer. So if he has trouble with these nobodies I'm gonna he annoyed. Those that are in the room were the prisioners from before, not even the pirates that were with BrownBeard in the New World, since Brownbeard made it clear in saying his men weren't there
the problem here lies in that ya'll "THINK" ceasar is weaker than he actually is (no matter how weak he may be)
the first instance of luffy v ceasar, luffy hit him twice with g2. after the second hit, ceasar was down until he stole luffy's air away and he fainted.
the second instance luffy hit ceasar twice again, the first was a no name surprise attack and the second was a jet pistol. after the jet pistol, luffy was about to use jet gatling to finish off the job but was interrupted by monet.
the third instance luffy has hit ceasar yet again, ONLY twice with regular(as in no gears) punches to the face.
first two instances show he's able to take a couple gear 2 hits but eventually gets saved before a finishing blow where he is able to regain (or atleast some of) his strength.
now, to compare it to what weve seen.
when it comes to luffy's attacks, from what we've SEEN the red hawk or elephant gun could be called his strongest(one punch) attacks. the red hawk being gear 2, with the black coating and w/e else it is and elephant gun a gear 3 punch with the black coating as well. what this tells me is when the black coating is being shown its seems like a stronger haki attack than a regular one. the reason i bring this up is that luffy has hit ceasar with the black coating only once, and it was a regular (as in no gears) punch and it seemed IMO to be stronger than his g2 no black coating punch by the fact that ceasars face is indented.
with that said, ceasar hasnt taken the blunt of luffy's strongest attacks and isnt just brushing the hits off, he has been injured each time. this shows that ceasar can take a few hits but in essence its nothing like what luffy did to franky in choppers body with the one hitter knockout.
the only flaw i can think of to this, and i'll bring it up myself as someone is bound to, was when luffy fought the pacifista. all i have to say about that is he used gear two and we didnt see the black coating before. but we never saw his hands after the follow through either. oda could have simply not wanted to show us yet and let sentomaru tell us luffy was using hardening, OR, the pacifista is a machine and the brunt of the damage hit a weak spot causing it to blow up, OR, oda messed up. pick ur poison.

When Sanju kicks the other Pacifista there was no such effect present, so I assumed that was how haki-imbuded punches were going to be shown, but I don't think that effect ever showed up afterwards.

So, unless Oda states that CC only got such a high bounty due to his horrible experiments (an exception like Robin, Caribou or pre-TS Kidd etc.) we simply have to accept that this mad scientist is strong enough to take a few hits from Luffy. He is worthy of his 300 million.
But anyway, people made me curious so I checked just how many attacks he soaked up to this point:
First encounter in front of the lab (671)

One Jet Mace to the face, impossible to tell if Luffy used hardening or not. His gloves are black and he didn't say hardening - Jet mace! However, he also used a (failed) hardened Gomo Gomu Bell without adding "hardening". So I assume that from then on, his attack is infused with armament haki.
Next came a Jet Stamp to the torso

This was all at this point (671). He got merely 2 attacks in before Caesar ended the fight with his Empty World move.
Now 10 chapters (!!) pass till they meet again (680).
Judging by Caesar's face, he had time to recover from 2 of Luffy's weaker attacks (Stamp and Mace are standard stuff ever since). Only Usopp, Brownbeard and Nami faced him during that time. In Street Fighter language: New round, Caesar's lifebar is back to 100%.
Luffy opens the fight with an unnamed move, probably just a very fast hardened punch (Caesar didn't even see it coming)

That was it! Monet interfers, stops his hardended Jet Gatling and traps him in the trash room

Means Caesar took 7 attacks in total, he had time to recover from 4, one had next to no effect. Leaves the last 2 standard moves, which fully connect and do some good damage, considering that they are nothing extraordinary.
Now Luffy didn't even use any of his strong named moves, so I see no problem with a 300 million guy not being oneshotted by his baseline stuff.
i don't know whether is it already been discussed,but i wonder what would/could happen to other people in the path of Law's 'cut'…?..he made 'room' out of whole mountain after all....so it was a all encompassing cut....

i thought it was coming from the pacifista since there was a bit that followed his head after the punch. and i just checked. there was some electrical discharge on sanji's pacifista, its shown before the blowup by after the attack when it was on the ground.
Isn't ceasar durability the same type of spandan durability were they suffer hilarious physical damage (especialy on the face).
What you want more ceasar being down by one-hit ko or see him suffer more and more because of the type of person he his?

Now Luffy didn't even use any of his strong named moves, so I see no problem with a 300 million guy not being oneshotted by his baseline stuff.

Spandam never took attacks from someone this strong, did he? Robin bitchslapped him, can't remember anything else to be honest. And what is more important, he spent the weeks/months after in hospital and couldn't even answer the Den Den mushi.

ahh, i figured as much, but from the chapters, only ONE hit that connected was hardened from what we saw. and when luffy uses hardening, u see his body part is still black after the hit. so to assume he was hardened for most of the hits is a bit premature dont u think?

So, unless Oda states that CC only got such a high bounty due to his horrible experiments (an exception like Robin, Caribou or pre-TS Kidd etc.) we simply have to accept that this mad scientist is strong enough to take a few hits from Luffy. He is worthy of his 300 million.
But anyway, people made me curious so I checked just how many attacks he soaked up to this point:
First encounter in front of the lab (671)
One Jet Mace to the face, impossible to tell if Luffy used hardening or not. His gloves are black and he didn't say hardening - Jet mace! However, he also used a (failed) hardened Gomo Gomu Bell without adding "hardening". So I assume that from then on, his attack is infused with armament haki.
Next came a Jet Stamp to the torso
This was all at this point (671). He got merely 2 attacks in before Caesar ended the fight with his Empty World move.
Now 10 chapters (!!) pass till they meet again (680).
Judging by Caesar's face, he had time to recover from 2 of Luffy's weaker attacks (Stamp and Mace are standard stuff ever since). Only Usopp, Brownbeard and Nami faced him during that time. In Street Fighter language: New round, Caesar's lifebar is back to 100%.
Luffy opens the fight with an unnamed move, probably just a very fast hardened punch (Caesar didn't even see it coming)
Next comes another standard move, a Jet Pistol that isn't even hardened
That was it! Monet interfers and stops his hardended Jet Gatling and traps him in the trash room

Judging by Caesar's face (again), he had plenty time to revocer from 2 of Luffy's absolute standard moves. Round 3, lifebar is back to 100%. This time Luffy is serious and opens with a mighty Elephant gun.
And it only grazed him. Enough to make him shit his pants, but it did next to no damage (he is nosebleeding, a small scratch on his cheek).
Next is another standard punch to his face, hardened.

I don´t know where you got the information for the bounties from but i can not agree wit any of the points:
1.) I don´t even remember Luffy comparing Hodi to anyone, i could be wrong but i do not think that this even happened
2.) CC expected the Yeti Brothers to take care of all the SHs (Law was not even their target), later on he only said that a guy with 400 mil ismaybe too much for them to handle
3.) Monet´s statement is actually the perfect example that the bounties are not a good indication for strength since she immediately understood that the bounties are not accurate
CC having such a high bounty is also easily explained, the guy has a Logia (one of the dangerous ones) which is pretty much invincible in the first half of the GL + he has high class information about the WG, especially their science department + he caused a massive explosion and killed many people while he also endangered the genius of the WG, Vegapunk. Another example for inaccurate bounty would be Caribou, normally you expect him to put up a fight against guys with 330 mil or 400 mil bounty but we all saw how that went. So it is safe to assume that CC´s ability to take that much hits from Luffy is due to lack of antagonists for this arc, could have been different if Law had betrayed the SHs (which would have made the alliance meaningless in the first place, so not a good point) or had Smoker attacked the SHs. Another thing, although it is not completely confirmed, i think it is still safe to assume that Red Hawk is a combination of G2 and Hardening and that Luffy only uses Hardening in his base or G3 state otherwise (the exception would be the gatling that has been blocked by Monet but personally, i think that it was a mistake like Luffy punching CC 2 times or Chopper eating a rumble ball).

As I said, I assume that they were hardened. If I try to understand a point (in this case: Caesar took all those hits and isn't down!) I try to see it with the eyes of someone who maybe just wants to see it that way.
So even if all those attacks were hardened (we don't know) it's still nothing special to soak them like Caesar did, when we take into conideration that all were standard moves (no Red Hawk, no Elephant Gatling, not even a Bazooka).
