Ideas for new Islands/Arcs for the new world?

I think the new world has so much potential in terms of story. People seem impatient with the progression of the story at times. Lets savor the greatest sea on the grand line while it lasts.

If Oda asked for ideas from his fans regarding Islands and Arcs, what would you suggest to him?

The new world was what people called the western hemisphere in the 16th century i.e. the americas. We have seen islands up until now but what about continents? What if there was a continent that resembles the wild west period of the United States? Of course, this continent would be lawless and home to outlaws, pirates, and most of all, bounty hunters. This could be a great opportunity to expand on the bounty hunters in the one piece universe and actually have formidable and menacing bounty hunters.

I have always thought Vegapunk was from the future, which would explain his ability to produce technology that was several centuries ahead of its time. Which leads to the idea of a time travel arc. Yes, it seems cliche but I think Oda could make it work. Maybe the time machine Vegapunk came in explodes and sends the crew into Vegapunks native time. They could be sent to the time of the pirate kings reign or maybe even the void century. They could all be sent to different times, which could add to their individual character development.

I like this idea quite a bit, and it seems like something that could happen eventually..It'd be like a mix of Whiskey Peek and Mock Town, but a whole continent of it.

As much as I love time travel, and things that remind me of Doctor Who..The only thing I find appealing about that is the individual character development, and you don't need time travel for that.

This thread has some potential, but I'm too lazy to time any of my New World island ideas right now.

Well, we've had a lot of great different settings so far, I think Oda's delivered on many areas - what I feel is missing so far is a greater city that's actually pretty advanced, although Water 7 kind of fills that niche as well. It'd be cool if Elbaf wasn't just for giants, but all plant life and such were gigantic as well, so the Strawhats would be only as tall as the grass that grows there, somehow Alice in Wonderland style. With lots of creatures.

If it isn't, I want that.

I'd also like a Gladiators/Caesars etc sorta kingdom but maybe that's too silly… It wouldn't be like, overly done, just subtle things, like the Chinese influence of Amazon Lily. Mostly aesthetics.

I want to see the homeland of a race such as Moria-Sama and Magellan "You know, people with black wings and/or demonic looks". It would be awesome to see a fight between this race and people from Sky islands… (it's like a fight between angels and demons).
I think Wano and Elbaf are two important countries too but still there is no need to make huge arcs out of them.
I wanna see Davy Jones ghost, his locker and a two shichibukais arc.
Every time I think about the new world.. I go crazy.

This could present the opportunity of inviting an ex marine into the crew. An ex marine would have contempt against the marines and world government. Maybe he/she learned the true nature of the world government and was disillusioned.

Another island could be the home to world renowned hunters. They capture unsuspecting pirates from all over the grand line and set them loose on their island, so they can hunt them for sport.

An interesting island could be a city that's reminiscent of new york city with towering skyscrapers. The whole island is a city like water 7 but full of skyscrapers and could even be floating around. It would have cars on the ground and floating in the sky. It would be the most technologically advanced and commercial city in the world. This is accomplished due to the tireless efforts and genius of Vegapunk. Also, it would be the perfect opportunity to introduce a organize crime component. Yes we have been exposed to the slave trade and black market i.e. the brokers. Maybe we have only scratched the surface regarding the underworld of the One Piece universe. We could find out that Capone Bege is one of the lynchpins of the mob in this metropolis overlooking the final sea.

I can't stop laughing at the fact that the entire arc would be the complete opposite. The crew would hunt the hunters.

It would obviously have an environmentalism theme with Luffy beating the big bad and the sky clearing up almost instantly. I admit it's not the best idea, but Oda's pretty much done everything short of aliens and evil twins.

Reminiscent of Bioshock or Legend of Korra? Great idea.

I was also thinking of an island that's just a chasm that leads to a subterranean world. The heat from the planets core could of preserved creatures that appeared around the jurassic to the cretaceous period i.e. dinosaurs.

After being exposed to seastone for so long, the straw hat df users have memory loss and don't recognize one other. Basically, all the df users return to their former selves before meeting Luffy, which provides for some interesting reading.

Maybe we would encounter a situation where zoro or franky or sanji tries to reason with luffy by explaining he has amnesia. He would explain luffy's life from when they first met until the present but interrupted because of one detail. The mention of Ace's death causes luffy to go into a murderous rage and attacks his crew mate.

Sounds like a cool idea but if I remember correctly there was already a filler where the strawhats lost their memory after having joined the crew, so I doubt that something like that could happen.

As for me I just want to see Raftel, it would be cool if it was something like memoria from ff9 where the memories of their journey form the actual island.

I am still wondering how Oda is gonna put that much content into 15 years. We already have definitely a Vegapunk arc, Wa No Kuni arc, DD arc, BM + Kaidou arc, Elbaf should be a given, there should be at least one Revo arc and these are all the arcs we can expect, you still ahve to add the arcs that are not obvious (PH for example).

I also think that we should discuss the social issues that counterpart each island seeing as how social issues are heavy in One Piece. For a casino style Island the social issue can be greed… (I know that's lackluster but I can't think of anything better at the moment)

I was always a little skeptical about this idea, but when I really sat down to ponder about it I can actually see the validity of such a place existing based off of one thing: Fishmen. The existence of Fishmen has already proven that non-DF animal/Human hybrids can exist as a race.

So if we have half fish/half humans, then its very likely that the OP world also has a half mammal/half human race. I would love to say that the antagonist of such an island would be some sort of beast like character (e.g. lion), but I think CP9 already fit that bill.

Perhaps an arc that has to do with the cruelty to animals but more specifically, the subjugation of the den den mushi. Think about it, these are living creatures that are presumably displaced from their homes to serve human beings. What if they are processed and distriputed from their native island in the new world. Destroying the primary processing plant would disrupt this burgeoning industry greatly.

Luffy could liberate these defenseless and docile creatures from the clutches of humanity and ultimately, the world government.

Well if this is the same Emerald City that is based on the Wizard of Oz, we may see something like that in reference to Vegapunk (who may possess some resemblance to Oz himself).

The actual mentioning of Emerald City stems from Bellemy's quote:

As Bellemy puts it, this island is regarded as another myth island, which brings me to think that the only way to reach such an island is only via some sort of special case (e.g. Upstream to Skypea). Dorothy reached the Land of Oz through her dreams. (Maybe the Strawhats will enter an island through their dreams?) That would actually be interesting. Kind of like a twilight zone case where the Strawhats can't wake up

Also, really looking forward to Elbaf. What would make it even more awesome? The Giants and the Dwarves being at War with each other on the island, with Kaidou leading the Dwarves. Yes. Make it so, Oda.

That won't happen. The whole theme to Impel Down was hell and it was based on Dante's Inferno. That would be like having an environment based on Heaven when we already had Skypiea.

When I was playing Zelda: Skyward Sword at the part in the Lanayru Desert where you hit the timeshift stones to go back into the past, it gave me a cool idea of an island similar to that in One Piece where it's just the remnants of an ancient civilization possibly from the void century where only these stones are left and when Luffy or someone else accidentally hits one of these stones, the ruins turn into a thriving metropolis and thus hijinks ensue.

It's just a thought, but the idea of time travel has always appealed to me.
