Question guys, is Toei a bigger anime production company than Madhouse? If so how comes they have been so shitty in art and animation for a really popular anime like one piece while Madhouse has been producing a consistently high quality Hunter x Hunter every week, shouldn't one piece have a higher budget or something, or am I missing something?
Really loved the second part for some reason I found it to be intense and I really like that they didn't drag out the sea kings bit.
Toei Animation is larger, but that's also the reason why One Piece might not get better animation. Toei spreads itself thinly across multiple TV shows and films. In recent years they've really recommitted to their film sector and tried to produce big name films. One Piece Film Strong World, Bhudda, and now Asura and One Piece Film Z. Their TV division also seems to be focused on maintaining higher quality animation for shows like Pretty Cure and Saint Seiya Omega, the latter which has a huge international fanbase and will likely only run for a year as it is. One Piece receives the short end of the stick because it will rake in money nevertheless so there is no need to higher more staff or higher quality animators and directors for a series that likely won't end for another ten years and won't be profitable past it's initial broadcast (nobody is going to buy the entirety of a one thousand episode-plus series).
