Fairy Tail Discussion III

Well, I guess we did learn that the girl only has one hand/arm.
Or could be sealed. Maybe it's a "Demon Arm", and that's what Gerard sensed being like Zeref, rather than the girl herself.
-
That was dissapointing for the 300th chapter, the fillers were so not worth the waste of time.
-
Absolute identity cocktease. Shit chapter is shit.
Also, fuck the cat.
-
The cat died so this chapter is awesome :)
-
Wait so the Cat just…, died?
Goodbye old man, goodbye cat.
R.I.P.
-
! I find having that old man go down by the lame ass who just got his ass kicked strangely satisfying. Plus, the fact that Minerva approves is an interesting plot twist!
! Funny thing, I find my favorite scenes in bad manga tend to involve a-holes getting stabbed through the chest.

That old man was supposed to be the strongest mage in their guild and then he gets oneshotted by the idiot who overestimated himself from the getgo
That is how you write a story, ingenious
-
Sure the recent chapter was pretty shitty and it had more cliches than a single Love Hina volume in one chapter, but this one wasn't all that bad in my eyes.
Obviously the cat didn't get murked. If it did, then Frosch no longer would have a point existing other than moping around and would have been killed with Lector.
Harsh? Yes, but we all came to the conclusion that the damn thing was teleported away by some bullshit reason.
If you liked Lector (Why?) then just remember death is invalid in this manga and there's only Edolas.
-
Mashima is such a troll. The chapter wasn't bad but there was no big revelation so what was the point of those 2 fillers chapters?
-
Hah, oh Mashima you.
So everything was planned by Minerva? It doesn't seems to be related to the main plot. We'll have to wait for the next chapter I guess, "King of Dragons" can't be the title of a chapter that can let us down, right?…
Right?Edit: Or maybe since Sting is a dragon-slayer, does Minerva have something planned using him that ends into the main plot?
Also, a link for the chapter before we reach 2 pages of discussion about it without posting the link.

Minerva uses space/time magic and can warp things. It was already shown being used several times. That's not exactly "bullshit".
-
I am a cat person, but I still want that cat to stay dead. He was annoying little imp.
And it's chapter 300. And I was like "Eh? That's all?" in the end. If something good happens in the next one, there wouldn't really be any point in 299.
-
I don't get why the cat was showing off the mark in the first place, but I know I was cheering when it got not-killed.
I don't feel that was the intent, though. And its propably a translation gaffe, but I got a good laugh out of Wendys lines of:
"I learned a technique to listen to the voices of dragons in the "river of the sky". And I thought it was an attack magic"
Whuh?"But what if…it allows you to communicate with dead dragons?!"
No! You really think so Wendy? -

Because the master was all ''who the hell are you?'' to Lector before he blew him away.
-

Ah, I missed that one panel the first time.
Heh, You know I think I was more invested in the Sock drama than in Lecters fate.

He got stabbed by light, what's weird about that.
By the way, which chapters explain what happened to Lucy's mom? People are talking like this is obvious, but I guess I forgot the chapter.

She supposedly died the same day the Dragons left for their unknown destinations, which many have come to speculate means that she's somehow connected to them.
-
Now that I've slept, and had time to digest what I "read";
What pissed me off was that Sting didn't even powerup when he stabbed the old fucker. He just attacked him after brief grieving. Minerva warping Lector was possible, but really, how weak was that old guy?
If gramps killed Happy, Natsu would be devastated, become a giant dragon(?), and then try to eat gramps, and then MAYBE, maybe gramps would lose.
The leader of the strongest guild from 7 years ago willingly tried to fight of the black dragon, while the leader of the current "strongest" guild got killed by a light punch (no pun intended).
Fucking sabbertooth, there's a reason the animal you chose is extinct. Fucking weak.
-

I wonder if Natsu managed to deliver that attack before Minerva blocked it (or stopped him from doing it, I don't remember), the same would happen. I guess everyone overestimated him so much, that he never had to fight or to prove he's strong.
-
Meh. Unless I am certain about concrete results I won't even bother analysing this, besides I wouldn't even care if he went along with it, to be honest.
Pretty uninteresting, especialy for a landmark he went out of his way to push forward.

http://www.mangareader.net/fairy-tail/300Yeah you people have developed a habit of doing that.
-
The plot's advancing in quite a few directions it seems.
- Gayrard and his crew are talking about the mysterious person without giving away anything that we didn't know already. I'm getting impatient, Mashima. Reveal the girl already.
- So old dude (Genma if I'm not mistaken?) does indeed punish his former two superstars as well. That part may have been a little harsh but it was needed to establish a certain authority. To show that Genma rules with an iron fist. Until he killed the cat and got one-hit by Sting. Now Minerva's 'perfect' could mean many things. Perfect as in "Now he's pissed off the old man and the geezer is going to tear shit apart" or as in "Sweet! Sting turned into a brutal monster- mentality wise- and now I can fuck 'em up all". We shall see.
- Next the scene switches to our favourite dragon-slayers exploring the dragon dungeon (let's go with the RPG route. You know you like it). Lucy, Gray and the cats are tagging along. Dragons' bones are being shown again and the various reactions were as expected, honestly. What happens then is kind of an asspull though. Coming up with a convenient technique named Milky Way (trusting the translation for now) that enables the user to talk to dragons' spirits is, well, pretty darn convenient isn't it? But there had to be some sort of way of finding out what actually happened back then so I think Mashima did the best he could in that regard. Frankly speaking I'm eager to know what really happened so bring it on!
- That last bit of the chapter was so random lol. Casually sitting down, writing a list of earth-shattering events while enjoying the beautiful sky- isn't that the dream?~
-
Minerva is a sith.
-
Chap felt pretty uneventful for a #300. All that stalling and I expected more.
The cat dying was great I would've preferred both cats and the two dragon slayers dying and then the daughter killing the guild master.
Now if that guild master is really dead it shows how weak sabertooth is. Makes me think old guy was just an egomaniac focusing on being the best but he and his guild wasn't that strong. Other than the clear illogicalness of it all.
-
If he got pwnd by an injured loser who didnt even power up, what if he finished his fight with Natsu?
-
@Sonic:
Minerva is a sith.
I just thought of one thing: Since Mashima has this thing with elements and stuff… Sting is a light dragonslayer; Minerva is trying to "corrupt" him, making him go to the dark side. :ninja: And then he'll be the dark dragonslayer.
-
Natsu's going to get even more powerful.
-
Also, seeing Rouge hold his little frog wearing kitty made me realize…I don't think he and Sting are supposed to be teens. I think they're kids in teen bodies. It fits especially well with Sting killing someone on impulse when someone killed his pet.
I mean, I guess it fits for a shonen manga for our protagonists to be kid-like, but this chapter just shatters the illusion.

He's just child-like.
-
strange, was expecting some kind of a reveal in the big 300 after having 2 chapters seemingly stall to reach it.
But no we just got more suspense and cliffhangers. We find out the Wendy is going to hear what dead dragons say, but not get to hear it yet. We don't see the mystery womans face or name yet. The only thing that we found out at all is that sabertooths guild leaders daughter is planning something. Oh and I doubt that cat is dead.
I don't really have anything against this chapter, seemed fine imo, BUT didn't live up to the hype i guess for 300. Not that i expect manga series to have special things for number chapters like 100, 200, ect, BUT the fact that we had a to be continued on 297 and then two seemingly filler chapters to stall for 300 it feels like he was planning on something special for 300 and yet there wasn't.
-

Well, it's been implied that Dragonslayers are made older than they appear or actually are because of their magic. During the Festival Arc, Both Gajeel and Natsu were unable to escape the barrier Fried established even though it only affected people over 80 (Makarov) and statues (all the girls). So far, Wendy is the only DS with a given age, of 12.
-
lol, seems like i'm the only one who felt sorry for the cat.
Though as a result i was extra satisfied when the guildmaster got taken the fuck out.
Karma, motherfucker. -
Glad to see there are still threadgoers finding ways to justify reading this sexist, catkilling manga :D
-
Good to see the iritating cat being killed of, he was really annoying.
Maybe Minerva considered the guild master weak and will use this oportunity to take control of the guild herself.
-
I actually wish Oku would take over this manga so it would crash and burn much quicker.
-

Im only still reading because it's better than Naruto and Bleach.

Fairy Tail is getting silly for some time now, I liked the concepts Mashima has been coming up with at the beginning much better. Despite how silly it is, its still enjoyable to read for some reason, I have yet to figure out.
-
Big improvement.
I know it's not hard to be better than those series, but as long as it's not them, I can still read a trainwreck.
-
Funny that Genma was fooderize. I really didn't see that coming.
-
the ending was hilarious
LIST OF THINGS TO DO
-buy eggs, cereal, asparagus
-pick up prescription
-get sheets from dry cleaner
-destroy planet on July 7thoh shit gotta run!!!
-
Is that an OAD for the chapter that just came out?
-
I think it's actually for that one episode of ''training'' before the tournament. The one where Mashima was trolling the audience before going on to troll his characters.
-
^ Ah, ok. Forgot about that one. Odd that they'd make it an OAD instead of using it as a filler episode to grant themselves even more time for Mashima to create more material. I'm really surprised they're still doing those at this point.
@Thousand:
The cat died so this chapter is awesome :)
Don't be so naive.
Did you forget Wendy's "death" during the Hades fight?
-
Did you really just copy the image link to my sig (I know it's a quote and I didn't even make the image in the first place) and make it your own?
Nicely played now I think that I'm looking at my own posts.
Oh well, you can have it. I don't really care. But at least have a link to the original post in it.
-

Agreed. To me, it was actually like a "discount version" of One Piece at the start. An actioned shonen series with a core of badass guys - a series that didn't take itself too seriously and hence also had many funny moments and some fanservice, but also managed to pull some really emotional moments through. It also helped that the style was similar to One Piece.
Nowadays, the style is rather different from One Piece, and the series has also taken a different reaction. It has become a silly gag manga bordering to ecchi and harem, and now the actionized shonen moments are actually the fanservice because they serve to divert the reader with something else than gags and boobs. And while before it was a light-hearted series that didn't take itself too seriously, now it seems to almost take itself TOO seriously among all the comedy by alluding to the Eclipse plan and all that.
But yeah, it's funnily still enjoyable, and it hasn't completely lost its awesome moments. However, when I read Dragon Ball for the first time, I thought that was the most enjoyable thing I ever read.
-
It's almost with Naruto and Bleach.
-
The latest one is interesting. We get to know some stuff, and I don't think that guy is telling all of the truth.
-
WOW! Very good chapter for FT-standarts
