None of them are Oda. He's not in those two pictures.
Yeah but he's got Nami and Luffy's VA's to either side of him, plus Oda's wife is there. He MUST be Oda (maybe he looks a bit fatter now from all the $ lol)
-

Nah. Oda doesn't like having his picture taken as far as One Piece goes. He's oft-quoted as saying that his characters are the stars of the show, so he prefers not to have the spotlight on him. He's not in the photograph.

(somewhat) New posters!

There's a message from Oda on the second poster. Can someone translate it for us?
friend translated it and says
it's been 3 years since the last movie!! If i do it i don't want it to be second - rated!! I prepared lots of surprises!! All the staff are burning ( excited) ohhhhh-'-!!!!
-
Considering Ace's popularity I'm suprised that he never appeared as a main character in a One Piece film (he and the strawhats cross paths on the sea and he joins the adventure). Like Rock Lee from Naruto and future Trunks from DBZ who appeared in movies when their popularity was at their highest
-
Gotta admit that sounds pretty good, usually the SH crew are in different clothing in the movies so it would've been interesting to see what ace would've looked like.

"Reunion with fellow Islands Sherbondy episode of" ⑨Wait, does this mean they made specials for Enies Lobby, Marineford, and the reunion arc like they did with the Nami special, AND the new movie?!
If so, then good lord. No wonder the anime has been disappointing lately.
…Unless it's just showing a few episodes from those arcs? Either way, I'm intrigued...
-
A full-blown special for material that's barely a year old? Yeah, I doubt that unless they're just splicing old episodes together. But if that's really true I' have to voice my disapproval of the idea. Feels self-indulgent and a drain on resources that could be put to better use elsewhere.
-
Does this mean they're showing a condensed, better paced Enies Lobby arc, Marineford arc, and Return to Sabaody arc?
Cuz that's what I'm assuming based on the titles.
The fifth one appears to be a mystery. Wonder what it is?
-
I agree with Crossword. I understand remaking the old arcs is cool, but I'd rather see new Straw Hat adventures.
-
I doubt those are movie remakes. One would think they would make a bigger deal out of it.

It says more details will be revealed on the 6th. The Nami Special was announced about 2 months before it aired too.
-
I hope the 5th movie is Skypiea's one. It's the only left arc

That or Thriller Bark would be fine by me.
-
While I also think that the resources would be better used in the new eps, I think that these specials could be a great asset in terms of getting folks caught up with One Piece should they ever be released in the west.
-
@Galaxy:

Yeah but that was still a TV special at the end and these are being screened in theaters. I think it's just episodes of the anime being presented in a theater.

Not sure why'd they do that. The elaborate titles suggest otherwise.
Oh well. We'll see what they have to say on the sixth.
-
The titles aren't special. Just because it says "Episode of Enies Lobby" doesn't mean it's a special. These are translated from Japanese so grammatical errors are abound. No I'm not saying I don't want specials, but I wouldn't get my hopes up for basically the entire part one of One Piece being re-animated. What purpose does the original anime serve then?

Nope, they all have the same Engrish "Episode of …"-title as the previous recap-movies. But yeah, I seriously doubt they've actually done a complete reanimation of ALL those arcs.
-

Well.. they do have 2 months to produce them. Maybe they're going to show clips from each one and air them in 2013?
-
I doubt that. You know how long it would take to animate all of those, how many resources that would eat up? Episode 521 alone was half-a-year in making, they can't roll out four two-hour reanimated specials in that time frame, it would be an insane amount of work. Or maybe they are that insane, but it just seems to be too much on one's plate at once.
-
Can anyone tell me when to expect the first long trailer for this movie? Or just tell me about when the first long trailer for Strong World came out?
-
Good point. We should have one soon, the movie comes out in two months.
-

Interesting, any more story behind that? Though that said, while it is odd that one episode took so long, since typically they do produce many episodes a year not sure if the outlier really says much there.
-
I wouldn't say it's odd. I've read that the average anime episode generally takes three-four months to complete, though I don't know if that's just the animating portion, or if it also includes storyboarding, script writing, etc. Episodes with more spit and polish take longer, like with 521. So that's why anime shows have multiple animation teams, so that they can work in tandem and turn out weekly episodes instead of bimonthly or something.
-
Well, taking half a year being what twice the norm you mention, I guess that's a least a little bit odd. It'd take a whole lot of teams to get a year of One Piece out at that rate. Though that said, yeah, how many teams are there on One Piece as is? If one team can only make about 4 episodes a year, I guess we'd need about 12 teams? That's a lot, pretty impressive. Also, do you know on average how many teams are in one anime studio?
And it is wacky how little I know about Film Z, when it's out in two months. We gotta have a trailer folks.
-
So I loked at the film website for more details on the awards thing, and there seems to be a voting site. Too bad I can't read Japanese, If anyone here wants to help translate the questions, it'd be appreciated
https://www.onepiece-vote.com/ -
Maybe the one that gets the most votes is going to be made?
I have no clue otherwise. -
none of them look even close to him

! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v634/Mormegil84/inoueoda1.jpgI dunno why but his expression in the first pic is killing me
-
The site is just a site voting for your favorite character. Now whether or not it pertains to "which character's costume do you favor most", or "which character are you most looking forward to in the new film" I have no idea.
Also, I feel like if there was some sort of site or even a hint at brand new One Piece specials in the works, there already would have been a blurb or something about it in JUMP or one of it's affiliated magazines, and that (at least as of now) hasn't happened.
-
I figured it was something like that, but I'd still like to know exactly what I'd be voting for
-
It's a vote to decide which voice actor will say what line during the One Piece Award opening ceremony.
Basically, click on the character, type in a quote from the manga (anime original lines too? i dunno) and 1 of the top 5 votes will be spoken live during the event.
By voting, you're also eligible to win a ticket for the event itself. -

Nami looks so rawwrr. xD I think that's Inoues style.

Looks like filler for the anime.
-
That says ''Prologue Story''. I dunno what NOTTV is, but if it's anime filler I hope for everyone's sake that it's a hell of a lot better than Little East Blue was.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Ah, NOTTV is a broadcasting station.
-
Looks like a short film that will serve as the entry-point for the actual film, sounds fillerish.
-
Sadly this special will be viewable on smart phones only. Hopefully there will be a DVD for this special later on.
And now we know why we haven't seen Eisaku Inoue for a while now, artwork looks fantastic. He must have had enough time to work on the special.
