1. The damage is clearly on the pin striped legs.
But Vergo is wearing white pants. INCEPTION!
It really is an x-ray view of Sanji's shin bone cracking

Something of note, when Luffy used his Gatling equipped with Haki it didn't turn black. Not the first time but at this point I think we can rule out Luffy's limbs turning black with every bit of Haki use.
I thought that it was already obvious that when he uses Gear2 he combines it with "normal" Busoushoku and when he is in his normal form he uses the "special" Busoushoku Koka unless he wants to do Red Hawk.
First off, i am happy that Vergo is just using Rokushiki techniques (probably not all 6 forms) and Haki, he is an appropriate opponent for Sanji. Sanji´s bone cracking a bit does not mean anything at this point, we have seen much worse injuries dealt to him. I also think that either Sanji and Vergo will finish their fight on their own (one of them winning) or they will get interrupted by the gas. Smoker should be on his way to the SAD room because he believes Vergo to be with Law (Law mentioned in the flashback that he will retrieve his heart). If by chance Smoker does not like what he will see there, a rematch between them would be possible. This time though, Law could not remove Smoker´s heart since it is already out. CC should also be on his way to the SAD, so i think we will have a really interesting situation there. I honestly do not know what Luffy is going to do now. I doubt that Oda will show Luffy fighting a woman who is not deformed in some way, for example like Alvida or the Gorgon Sisters. He could get a bit of information on DD though, depending on how ready Monet is to talk.
Yeah its definitely Sanji, cause his leg is bent while Vergo's is stretched out.
The breaking bone might have merely been a premonition… but if it REALLY broke then this could be a major thing, especially since Sanji relies on his legs...
Though Chopper might be able to sort it out since we haven't seen much of his medical expertise.
i dont think Sanji leg was fractured,he just had a premonition due to observation haki(just like Luffy with Mihawk during the war)
Brilliant, i would have never thought of that!
Another thing that i think is important. Why the fuck is G-5 deserted? Mistranslation? Maybe Vergo became a serial killer before he came to PH.
Great chapter, amazingly fluid panel transitions. Oda really is the best at drawing fights. Little shocked to see so many people dismissing Sanji as out already. Vergo hasn't even landed a proper hit yet! Did you guys think Luffy was going to die when Rob Lucchi blasted him into shipping crates?
1. The damage is clearly on the pin striped legs.
2. Probably, though he's yet to show it off.
3. For certain attacks. His haki attacks are yet to connect to Caesar.
4. It'll probably be fixed in the tank.
Item 1: It is sanji's leg getting broken. It's an x-ray of his bones. You can see vergo's white shoes if you look closely.
vergo will have sanji pinned down about to strike the finishing shigun when smoker shoots in and knocks virgo into shinokuni everyones happy but then like terminator virgos still alive but partly covered in the ash/smoke stuff and mega pissed
i dont think Sanji leg was fractured,he just had a premonition due to observation haki(just like Luffy with Mihawk during the war)
I doubt it. Vergo next kick is coming from the opposite direction, which makes it look like Sanji blocked, got his leg fractured, kicked off Vergo foot, which he then swung around the other direction and Sanji dodged it
However, its worth mentioning here–Vergo's only using his left foot so far. I don't know if that's important, but it seems unusual for someone fighting with their legs to aggressive favor one over the other.

I think G5's base being deserted is pretty appropriate considering what kind of people the G5 marines have turned out to be. They don't sit behind desks and write shit, they're out there
You mean as Zoro who came back after his whole torso got chainsawed by mr 1
Or Usopp who got his entire face structure broken and still fought
Or Sanji who had several broken bones against Mr2 but still could fight to the end and beat himSanji maybe got damage but he still is able to fight not even got pushed a tiny bit back by the kick of Vergo. So far nothing is settles and both aren't even shpowing all… No Diable Jambe or Vergo's bamboo stick and abilities.
Seriously I don't think Sanji will win, but to say the leg is broken that's it is for One Piece standards a weak argument
Those injuries you mentioned aren't the same as what might have happened here
broken ribs don't affect sanji's fighting style or strength
a broken leg, how do you expect him to kick someone with full strength when his leg is broken
tho after reading maybe it was a obs haki moment instead and he just thought leg would break thus kicking upwards after the focus on his face, which makes sense considering he still trading kicks the next panel
When it say's the forgotten G-5 I don't think it means it's been abandoned. There certainly are soldiers there, it's just that is the branch that is "forgotten" by the marines as a whole. As in they care less about it and don't care to keep the place in shape.
Great freaking chapter!
Luffy´s fight was okay I guess, though it annoys me a bit that Caesar always makes those facefaults and spits blood, but is totally okay afterwards -.-" But I guess that´s because, he´s a, you know…Clown xD
At first I didn´t even notice Sanji´s bones cracked, but that´s definitely his leg.
And is it that hard for people to view "CoA Hardening" as an evolved form of CoA? Cuz that´s pretty much what Vergo (and Luffy) is doing...(looks like it anyway).
i dont think Sanji leg was fractured,he just had a premonition due to observation haki(just like Luffy with Mihawk during the war)
Nah, look at his face. He´s in pain. And the panel would have looked differntly too, I think ( and I think the "snap" sound or something is there, dunno cuz I can´t read that….)
CC is a sith, lightsaber and force choke.
Haha, yeah :D
@Free:
Brilliant, i would have never thought of that!

MS translates it as "desolate", so it isn´t deserted.

How can you use your with full strenght probably if your entire torso is fucked up by a chainsaw… How can you use your handstands and such if your ribs are completely broken? Why Usopp was even alive after all after getting his face smashed by a 4 ton bat... Yeah this is One Piece a fictional manga.
if it would be that much of a serious injury than Sanji would at least pushed back a bit, would fall down in pain as against the PX pre TS, flying through the wall and for sure not simply avoid the next attack and just block the next kick with the same broken leg without being pushed once again
Of course it will have some effects and after effects. But we already have seen fights in One Piece where people were dozen times more injured
And to the CoO theory. Nice one… Could be as well
Man oh man how much do I love this arc?
I never even saw these fights coming a mile away, I though it'd just be Luffy V.S Cc the entire time and Smoker coming in between Sanji V.S Vergo and fight him, wrong on both ideas.
What is Law up to? It'd sure be intresting if he really did turn out to be the finale villain of this arc like some are saying.
I hope Sanji finishes off Vergo in the end now, let Smoker go after Law instead pretty please Oda.
I'm excited to see what happens between Luffy and Monet.
Dof coming in sooner than we thought? Man I love this series, thank you Oda ~
Hooray! One Piece has fights again.
To those who think One Piece doesn't need fights, I'll explain: Oda created characters with crazy powers, who have fought plenty in the past chapters. If One Piece was like the movie series "Pirates of the Caribbean" I wouldn't be looking for fights, who really cares much about Jack Sparrows sword fights? But Zoro, Nami, Robin, Luffy actually every strawhat has interesting fighting abilities. I want to see THEM.
plus dat Trafargar Law smile. squeeeeeeee
Since Law needs his heart back from Vergo, he's probably counting on Vergo following him to the SAD room. Besides, Vergo, Sanji and Tashigi need to get outta that room anyway.
Of course not, do you really think the strawhats had some kind of evaluation after Enies Lobby.
Luffy: "Phew, I sure hate those Rokushiki users, tekkai is a bitch.."
Sanji: "It sure is.."
entire crew: "hahahaha oh Luffy.."Luffy's motto is NEVER BETRAY NAKAMA
Vergo just slaughtered all his nakama after working so long together. If you missed that point after 681 chapters that it's all about nakama then I wonder if you were able to understand the more deeper plot points.
Honestly, I cant even believe we're discussing this.
Only thing that interested me this chapter is what Law is plotting. Other than that, don't really care…
Holy fuck, awesome chapter!
Loving the fight between Caesar and Luffy, really intense. Lovelovelove Caesar's faces, they keep getting better. I was not expecting Monet to interfere like that! The heck did she do there? Sanji VS Vergo is great stuff, and we finally find out what Law is after (after the commercial break). And as I thought, Caesar's powers are super interesting and versatile.
You can never really escape extreme danger in this manga lol, and this is exponentially the case with Punk Hazard. After they got through supposedly getting away from Shinokuni, it still leaks in through the doors.

Ceaser opened the gate again, letting the gas into the connecting tunnel.
Though it does beg the question of why he didn't shut both doors at the same time. Guess I'll add that to the "Evil Overlord" list: When trying to trap heroes escaping from a deadly gas, I will first close the last door they must get through to escape, rather than the first door. Better yet, I will close all the doors at once instead of closing them in turn. Nothing is better than watching a hero barely making it through a closing door only to realize he missed getting through the other 10 doors behind it.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Also, wasn't Diable Jambe first used because it's heat-based effects were unaffected by Tekkai hardening? I seem to remember that being a key part of Sanji's fight with Jabra, which makes it odd here since it should be completely inconsequential if Vergo knows it or not.
so is jimbei gonna leave caribou with the marines at g5? that is gonna be a really bad idea. just guessing but caribou will obviously spill the beans so they can let him go and the one that is likely to take that info for himself is doflamingo. him taking shirahoshi would absolutely make him luffy's enemy in the future.
The gorosei would know about Shirahoshi being Poseidon while trying to keep her under the surface. And Caribou spilling the secret to some pirate will most likely result in Luffy's return to FI. But we have ways to go before that
if someone takes on the fight between luffy and monet it would be awesome to be monet vs robin:ninja:
It doesn't look like Monet and Luffy are gonna fight hell she even knows the plan. Monet seems be going along with whatever CC is planning is because she'll die.
You know I feel the most amazing thing in this chapter is that Luffy actually remembers seeing Doflamingo at the war, I mean they never even directly talked or anything, I swear those 2 years of training really improved his memory.
Didn't Luffy witness the talk between Iva and Dofla? :wassat:
yup
!
Lol, Law ain't betraying the SH yet. If he was going to do it, it would be when they are actually facing the Yonkou he plans to take down.
Didn't Luffy witness the talk between Iva and Dofla? :wassat:
Which means he was him before, which is obviously pointed out. Just seeing someone once and knowing just who he is and what he is capable of is an entirely different story though.

But.
I would like to bring your attention to this:
What an insane chapter, I loved the manical smile that Law had on his face near the end. What I also love is how all of the SH's that are fighting at the moment are actually having a difficult time with their opponents, that's what I like to see.
For everyone thinking they would walk right through PH with little or no difficulty you better restructure your thoughts. Sanji's leg cracking a bit, and Luffy's gattling being stopped by Monet was just amazing. To think, a VA and a subordinate giving them a hard time I love it! (I'm comparing this to how overpowered the SH's looked at F.I, it's obvious that a VA is immensely powerful and a subordinate of Dofla's would be nothing far from strong)
I can already tell the New World is going to be filled with insanely strong opponents that will wreck havoc and push the SH to the brink of death just to let them know how things go down in the New Wolrd. I just can't wait to the arcs to come.
CC is quite the crafty one, loved the light sabre he pulled out!
Hmm, good chapter, but the only real curveball was in the cover page.
And that cover page really has me thinking, but not really about the Jinbe/Caribou situation. I mean, it's odd that Jinbe went from running to the depths to on the surface, which doesn't seem to flow very well, but these cover stories have always been sort of in fast forward. No, I'm thinking about the state of the marines in the new world. Before the timeskip, G-5 was the place nobody wanted to be stationed, and considering the location in made total sense. You'd expect it to be forgotten and look like a warzone. But after the timeskip Akainu was supposed to have increased the marine presence in the new world, and he even moved HQ over to that side. Yet last chapter we learn that the strength of G-5 is really just Vergo and Smoker, and it seems to be a battlefield. Basically, I've seen no impact from the changes Akainu is responsible for to this point, and I'm starting to wonder.
I'm not really sure I understand Law's dialog in Smoker's flashback. With mangapanda's version it seems like he's worried about both sides destroying each others hearts they have hostage. Mangastream's version is just weird. Also, there seems to be confusion on Law's conditions for Smoker as to whether they still apply after he gets his heart back. Either way, I have little doubt that Smoker will honor his agreement, and his singular focus right now is to find and defeat Vergo, and fix the heart situation. While I believe his intent is to track down Vergo, I question how immediately successful he'll be. He might have deduced that because he didn't pass Vergo on the way, that Vergo didn't go to where Smoker came from (I'm also really curious why that didn't happen, and if there's anything to Vergo seemingly traveling that distance faster). I think if I were Smoker, I'd suspect Law's location as the most likely place to find Vergo. And Vergo might run there anyway.
Luffy and Ceasar's fight is pretty good. The short maximum range for karakuni addresses that problem pretty easily. And the imitation lightsaber is just an awesome ability. I'm glad to see Luffy hit Ceasar without turning his arm black, since it confirms that Oda didn't just suddenly decide he needed a visual representation for armor haki where it didn't exist before. But then, he turns his arm black before the jet gatling and then his arm isn't black during the actual attack so who knows. I also like how the impact still causes Ceasar to turn to gas, but it doesn't really matter since it still hurts him. Fights against logias will be more interesting that way.
The Monet wild card finally gets played. She uses an ability that seems to come from her wings called igloo or whatever, but I'm not convinced that it's actually snow as much as it just looks like an igloo. That thing is pretty tough for it to just be made of actual snow. Then there's the fact that her wings aren't likely just made of whatever that stuff is, since her bird feet are different. Zoan has always been a real possibility, but she has consistently had the same form in present time this entire time, and she was a normal human in the flashback when Law first arrived on the island, so Law changing her body is hardly a stretch. I also can't imagine what type of zoan would be able to do something like that. And there's still the issue of her supposedly transforming in order to follow Law earlier. In the end, I still don't have a good read on what kind of ability she has at all.
Even after intercepting Luffy, I still can't get a good read on what Monet's role in all of this is either. It seems like Dofla trusts her enough to both keep and eye on Ceasar and protect him at the same time, which is saying a lot. Dofla probably just cares about having an army of giants in the end, which would make Ceasar valuable to him. That makes him the ultimate mastermind behind both the slave auction house and a kid abducting operation. For someone whose life is supposedly on the line here, Monet doesn't seem overly concerned with any of this, even Law's actions that freak Ceasar and Vergo out.
Sanji vs Vergo is pretty much as expected. Diable Jambe was enough to totally trounce tekkai by itself in Enies Lobby, so there must be more at work than just that here. There's still no real hint of his DF ability other than his arm and bamboo stick turning black when he attacked Law. But he manages to break Sanji's shin with his own shin, and that's quite impressive. Yet Sanji doesn't let that deter him at all, which is also impressive. They seem pretty evenly matched, but Vergo seems to have a slight advantage somehow. I still think this fight will have no winner and is really just intended to make both of them look good. The comment about Luffy hating people like him is a nice touch too.
S.A.D. room huh. And Vergo hitched a ride on an S.A.D. tanker to get to the island. So whatever this thing is, it requires resources that are brought in on a large ship. We know that Ceasar imports abducted children, but Law didn't seem to have much interest in all of that. I guess it's something new, since I can't think of anything that's come up so far that would fit. I certainly don't think there's betrayal at foot here, since we knew all of this was coming in general. Oda wants the readers to worry about the possibility, though, much like he did with Robin.
Something of note, when Luffy used his Gatling equipped with Haki it didn't turn black. Not the first time but at this point I think we can rule out Luffy's limbs turning black with every bit of Haki use.
Also Monet's I ice hut/igloo doesn't seem to be ice or snow at all, as Oda never drew ice like that before. It certainly looks and acts more like Mr 3's wax but what else acts the way flowing wax does that hardens? Cement?
Maybe cuz he only equipped it… he didn't USE/SAY HARDENING did he?
Maybe cuz he only equipped it… he didn't USE/SAY HARDENING did he?
Personally, i think that it was a mistaky by Oda (would not be the first time, Chopper´s Rumble Ball incident is still in my mind), so it should get fixed in the volume version. We already know that Gear2 + the special Busoushoku Koka results in Red Hawk but there was no sign of it in this chapter.
Woah, woah, woah. Does it say SAD or SDA in this chapter??? MP stated SDA and MS SAD. Feel like this is really important, since Vergo actually arrived to PH on a SAD Tanker
I know Luffy was always really fast, but this chapter it looked like he moved around incredibly fast, almost instantly, like he was teleporting almost. Has he ever done that before?
i think ceasar was maybe working on some super human experiment and he was successful and that samurai's son is one of the successful experiments. law stealing that technology and then making all of his crew and anybody who would join his fight against an emperor extremely strong might be enough to take down an emperor. think of it as the super soldier serum from captain america
I think this stuff has to do with devil fruit extraction. Maybe they want to steal Caesars fruit somehow? I have this weird picture in my head of law and luffy fighting over all the extracted fruits.. It would be really cool to see fruit users have to battle without fruits

G2 has always been exactly like it was in this chapter, as far as I can remember.

Red Hawk has more to it than that. Before the strike, when he used Red Hawk, he blasted a ton of extra steam out.

When he confronted Smoker in Tashigi's body outside of the lab. But really, has it ever looked different?
Guys did someone say whether it's sad or sda in the earlier pages of this thread? Cause if it's sad we have a major clue to what's in the room
It's SAD in the raw, I think.
Yeah Sanji's leg cracking took me a while to see but even if it's just a premonition it means Vergo's DF ability and/or tekkai and/or haki is very strong. My guess is Vergo will try to head to Law's location. Smoker will meet up with Law, Luffy will get some info from Monet but unless his crew is in danger he won't care. I don't get the point of Law killing Luffy now since he went through the struggle of trying to save him at MF. Also why does Law need to be a shichibukai to enter the S.A.D room? Considering DD is involved this arc I think he's going to become pretty important. S.A.D is obviously an acronym but it's also the opposite of 'smilies' which Doflaming says are in. Very good and interesting chapter, it's annoying to see CC get away again but at least we know Luffy owns. What is the english translation of Monet's attack?

Thank you for finally pointing out that there is a significant amount of debris. Theres also really bad patchwork that can be seen. So apparantally someon is upkeeping it.

Now you made me curious, what is the clue?
@Urouge: Went back and read 644 again, to me it just seems like G2 + Busoushoku Koka makes that much friction (how to explain it physically, better ask someone else) that extreme amount of smoke is coming out which also would go hand in hand with the explosion
Vergo got to Punk Hazard with a SAD Tanker. Let's assume that's a form of transportation fueled by SAD. Therefore, the room Law made it to at the end of this chapter is the place where this fuel is manufactured. I'm psyched to see what kind of material this is.
I agree with all the people saying that Monet will join Law. This will be the second Nakama that we see Law getting after Jean-Bart, and it still makes Law the only other captain that we see aquiring Nakama o.O.
Well, other than Buggy but w/e he's a gag character anyways.

I assumed SAD was just the name or something cause I assumed the tanker is how Shinokuni will be transported. But the idea that SAD is a chemical of some sort is interesting.
What? An early chapter? Off to read!
Am I the only one who doesn't think Vergo is taking his fight with Sanji seriously? I mean, his epithet was demon BAMBOO Vergo, and when he attacked law he used a bamboo stick, which suggests to me that his main weapon is the bamboo weapon. Which he isn't using to fight Sanji. Just thought I should point that out
