:getlost:Great job Naruto you rasenganed off Tobis face.. now we will never know.
Naruto and Bleach II: I don't have the heart to care anymore.

@The:
That has to be the most lazy bankai I've ever seen. It's a white blob with white tendrils, only Senbonzakura can rival it in terms of drawing ease.
As for the chapter, in a nutshell:
Yamamoto zones out, and gets hit by lightning while having a flashback about stuff noone cares about.
Wakes up, instantly vaporizes enemy.
Entirety of time spent just standing around taking hits like a dork?
Pointless.Any character development at all is a step up for me. Manly bonds and badassery and what have you.
-
Rocks must be Kishi's newest fetish. It now sits alongside Sasuke and eyeballs on a special corner in Kishi's mind.
How does one combine those 3 elements?
-
I dunno, I kinda like Naruto's chapter. Wouldn't say it's epic yet, but i think it tops OP this week. Just saying. I also think the art's pretty good this week. The final page was awesome. But yeah, Naruto's line was really cheesy.
But i will never understand how these jutsus work. haven't read Naruto in a while and i'm just enjoying the show though i don't understand the heck's going on. -

Pointless.Daz will bash kubo until the last chapter….
It's funny how young Yamamoto looked like this guy
!
-
I am so annoyed by Kubo's drawing of people. Everyone looks like Sarah Jessica Parker.
-
I kinda hope Tobi's nobody. Just some guy who found Obito and took his eye and became really powerful. No connections to any important people. Just a random schmuck.

Kinda reminds me of what happened to 21st century boys.

So I take it the bankai wasn't a featureless mass of white energy, and that the chapter didn't focus on that least riveting of all characters, Sasakibe? I was mistaken? Good to know.
Any character development at all is a step up for me. Manly bonds and badassery and what have you.
Ehhh, I'm all for character development too, but
a) This is posthumous development for perhaps the most bland, boring character in the entire series
b) No cameraderie or bond of any kind between Yama and Sasakibe was ever appearant when the latter was alive.
The whole thing feels about as important as a chapter long flashback of Whitebeard and Satchs good times together before Newgate bashes Teachs face in, only that would make slightly more sense since Whitebeard has more compassion ina single moustache hair than Yamamoto has ever expressed. -
Honestly, I'd like to see Yamamoto get that worked up over Komamura, to see some more of that relationship
-
First time I've said this in years… Simply for presenting me something that was not a total snoozefest... Good Bleach chapter.
This isn't to say any of the development was appropriate or anything. But it at the very least stepped outside of the white-washed box it's been sealed in for so long, if only for an ephemeral moment.
-
I kinda hope Tobi's nobody. Just some guy who found Obito and took his eye and became really powerful. No connections to any important people. Just a random schmuck.
Actually, that wouldn't really be that bad of an idea, remembering Naruto's original idea of "Hard Work Triumphs All", being turned around on itself and the idea of some random schlub who dared to seek to improve himself aginst Super-Mega-Ultimate-Ninja-Love-Jesus Naruto.

I would absolutely LOVE this chapter if it turned out Yamas flashback was him falling asleep, and in the end he just woke up all "ZZZZZZzzzzzz…Huh? Whazzat? I'm getting hit by lightning? Eh."
vaporization -
Just sayin' Daz will bash.
-

well he cant be a nobody. After using sharingam so easy and with no aftereffects to his body suggest he is an uchicha at least and we all know those eyes are special for kishi. Now if it turns out to be a complete nobody then it will be even worse than the all mighty secret of him being obito
-
Wait…does Naruto want to know who Tobi is? ... But...but...why did he hit him in the face? :S
-
@Sonic:
Just sayin' Daz will bash.
Uh, for the record, you will actually find me praising the Angel Nazi arc several times in this thread. I'll be the first to say that its a definite improvement over the Fullbring travesty.
Doesn't mean that this invasion isn't currently lacking any real direction or momentum, and that I really can't be bothered to feel anything for Sasakibe of all people. -
Wait…does Naruto want to know who Tobi is? ... But...but...why did he hit him in the face? :S
I dunno…maybe to take that stupid-looking mask?
-

Kakashi can do Kamui like Tobi, right? (Serious question. I don't remember most techniques and stuff) So maybe he could just be a guy who trained hard and was able to achieve this despite the belief that it's not possible.
Wait…does Naruto want to know who Tobi is? ... But...but...why did he hit him in the face? :S
To break his mask. :-/
-
With a powerful attack that could possible tear his face apart? or did I miss something about Rasengans with black balls inside it. :S
-
I have a question. Doesn't Kakashi have like a shit ton of abilities stored away cause of the eye? Or does it only remember recently seen abilities?
-
Was anyone else amused by Naruto being referred to as Kakashi's "subordinate?" Granted, it might be a translation issue, but Kakashi himself said they were equals back when Part 2 started, but now he thinks of Naruto as his subordinate? It's even funnier when you consider the fact that Kakashi's probably nowhere near his level anymore…
And I agree with Daz about Bleach. Yes, manly bonding is all well and good, but only when it's between two friends, not an angry old man and a piece of background decoration (and I don't mean all the whiteness)...
-
Naruto is becoming a Luffy fan, streching arm and using is own variation of gear third
-
I have a question. Doesn't Kakashi have like a shit ton of abilities stored away cause of the eye? Or does it only remember recently seen abilities?
No, no, you got it wrong. He can only remember the techniques Kishimoto can remember as well. So… it's not looking very bright on that side.
@Renegadesoul:With a powerful attack that could possible tear his face apart? or did I miss something about Rasengans with black balls inside it. :S
Next chapter- Tobi's face got distorted so badly that no one can tell who he really is.
Kakashi: "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

Yeah that made me laugh too. Kakashi thinking that Naruto's his subordinate. Poor delusional guy.
-
Naruto: Not much to say. Yet another slow-paced chapter that keeps wasting our time, while Kishi delays and milks the big reveal as much as he possibly can. But if the the next chapter continues the fight and it still isn't revealed that it's Obito, then I swear to god I will….........criticize it most unfavorably.
Bleach: You know, I like the idea of this flashback and history between Yamamoto and Sasakibe. But as Daz, it's way too late for us to care since we're 500 chapters in, Sasakibe's dead, and there was never anything interesting about him.
-
Yeah that made me laugh too. Kakashi thinking that Naruto's his subordinate. Poor delusional guy.
He still is his subordinate.
-
Too much trouble just to break Tobi's mask.
-
-
Sure he is, and the Konoha 11 are still relevant.
Naruto is still a Genin who works under Kakashi. It doesn't matter if he's stronger than him.
-

Considering that strength seems to be the only basis for rank and status in this manga and that Naruto is literally the savior of the world, yeah, I think it does matter.
Also, could you tell me the last time the word "genin" was used in this manga?
-
Wait, backstory for Yama ?
Goes off to read
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Okay so....
I'll be honest. This was the first chapter in Bleach since Yama's fight with Aizen that I actualy enjoyed.
It shows us young Yama, gives us a bit of a backstory and a bit of a character to Sasakibe. Sure there's the gaping hole of Sasakibe getting knocked out by Ichigo's non released fist, but....
Also there was no Ichigo, no Hitsugaya, no Kenpachi to stain this with his bladness, no Rukia being useless, no Chad and Orihime being there yet acting as if they themselves don't exist etc.
I legitimately enjoyed this, I like Yamamoto because he's an enjoyable stock character type used sufficiently well. Yeah awesome beard guy got taken out but still this has to be the first time Yama literaly burned someone to ashes. I half hope that's not retconned to a simply non disfiguring charcoal burn like what he was doing before.
-
What kills the stupid Obito teory is that on chapter 509 is that he said to Konan that not only he gave the rinnegan to Nagato and impel Yahiko to form akatsuki being these two older than Minato so unless he has time machine inside his *** is impossible on my eyes being Obito who would have 360º change of personality and also being not even be born (im still pissed that bastard beats konan which such asspull technique who suposely is forbiden to use and the old tobi who i miss more)

Pointless.Well yes but it does bring up a bit of a backstory for Yama. And in this series this is the most you can hope for. And as I enjoy a "badass old geezer" character type, I enjoy Yamamoto and him actualy having the whole chapter focused on him is probably the most enjoyable thing this series has done for me since his fight with Aizen where he almost took him out by literaly letting himself get stabbed in the gut, nearly overcoming Aizen's double hax thanks to using his immense cockiness. (Btw I would so wanna see how Zebra of all people would take to Aizen's constant well o' self flattery)
This is a chapter that's infinitely better then focusing on Ichigo or god-forbid Shrimpo by far. Whatever the best rating for a Bleach chapter is I'd probably give it to this because this is probably as good as it gets.
I mean you guys know how much I hate the many omnipresent aspects of Bleach. You know how I hated the last arc, you know how I can't stand any of the popular characters, you know how I hate the actual main cast being pushed aside for years at a time doing nothing, how I hate the lazy art, horrible pacing, ginormous panels with nothing in them, close ups so huge you could perform a throat cancer examination, the improvised plot twists not making any sense, humongous plotholes, the world building being flaunted when it's just a bunch of crayon drawings done by a four year old because Kubo intentionaly chose not to actualy think through it, and most of all Kubo's self-glorifying, constantly lying, not even capable to let the people he pays to assist him do his job for him form of pretense that is the genesis of all this wasted space and the deliberate refusal to actualy think through any details of the plot before submiting it to print while still trying to make an "epic" story with plot twists and world building.
So you know when I say I legitimately enjoyed a chapter of this series that has to account for something.
-

We've seen Naruto work under Kakashi and Yamato after Kakashi said they're probably equals in strength.Naruto is a low ranking ninja and Kakashi is a high ranked one and Naruto's team leader, so Naruto is still his subordinate. That's a fact.
And how it matters that Genin hasn't been said in a while is beyond me. They weren't retconned out or anything, so they still stand.
-
Rapiers are made for fast and precise strikes. You can't really get more fast and precise than a lightning bolt.
Unless you're Enel and you delibaretely decide to forfeit this advantage against something you already know is immune against it head on instead of using the speed to your advantage.
-
I'm glad some of you were able to enjoy the Bleach chapter because I found it boring as sin.
-
I'm glad some of you were able to enjoy the Bleach chapter because I found it boring as sin.
But it wasn't teeth grindingly offensive or mind numbingly stupid. And there was no Hitsugaya !
Speaking of which, similar to SFDebris' Voyager reviews and the "No Neelix bonus", I think we should immediately raise a Bleach chapter's rating a notch when it's doesn't feature Hitsugaya.
-
@No:

Well that's a really low bar set.
"Hey my arm just got horribly mangled in a saw mill accident but at least it's starting to scab over!"

Hitsugaya's absence makes everything better.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Also Yama is like the only character in SS that I even slightly enjoy. All the others are either Byakuya, Hitsugaya or Kenpachi. I don't like Komamura that much and he never does anything anyway and the same goes for Mayuri.
-
waits patiently for obvious Tobi troll reveal
-
This was an enjoyable Bleach chapter. Why the heck are people questioning a OHKO from the strongest captain in Soul Society? I see no problem here.
Naruto I'll look forward to next week, just for the interesting cliffhanger. Boring otherwise though.
-
I think Yamas main merit is shutting up absolutely retardedly overconfident characters, because man this OVAHKILL Quincy is the most optimistic guy ever.
"What, you think you can beat me, Yamamoto?"
"Yeah!"
"Using a stolen bankai you don't have complete mastery over, and doesn't constitute your main fighting style?"
"Yeah!"
"Using a bankai from my subordinate, a vice captain?"
"Yeah!"
"Vice captains being amazingly inferior to their captains in terms of strength?"
"Yeah!"
"Even though the bankai in question is Sasakibes?"
"Yeah!"
"And I'm the friggin Captain Commander?"
"Yeah! the way you're making no effort to dodge my attacks and don't seem to be affected at all is a GREAT sign in my favor, don't you think?"
…
Disentegration -
We've seen Naruto work under Kakashi and Yamato after Kakashi said they're probably equals in strength.
When was this? Back in the Sai arc?
Naruto is a low ranking ninja and Kakashi is a high ranked one and Naruto's team leader, so Naruto is still his subordinate. That's a fact.
None of this is relevant anymore. Naruto beat an enemy all by himself when the rest of the village combined couldn't.
When Guy said that Naruto was Kakashi's subordinate in this part, at most he was referring to the timeless bond of master and student they share. If he meant it sincerely, that Naruto is ranked lower and should take orders from Kakashi, then that's just stupid.
Oh yeah, and speaking of the Pain arc, I guess Kishi totally forgot the idea of, "Back off and leave everything to Naruto" deal he had going back then.
And how it matters that Genin hasn't been said in a while is beyond me. They weren't retconned out or anything, so they still stand.
No one cares about genin/chunin/jonin ranks anymore. They haven't been relevant in forever.
Naruto is one of the top 3 strongest people in the world.
-
I enjoyed Bleach, and Naruto this week.
Kakashi being awesome is always fun… but Naruto being able to shit out so much chakra is ridiculous.
I love that his only explanation for being able to do so is: "Because I'm Naruto!"
Also... why did Guy say Kakashi has always been ahead of him in fighting? Guy has the most wins..
Oh yeah, and speaking of the Pain arc, I guess Kishi totally forgot the idea of, "Back off and leave everything to Naruto" deal he had going back then.
You say this like it's a bad thing.

You say this like it's a bad thing.
No, this is better.
The problem with this fight is that it's blatantly dragged out and I have no idea why Guy is here (I know Kakashi is here for the inevitable Obito reveal).
-
@No:
Hitsugaya's absence makes everything better.
I suppose there's merit in this statement but we've still had horrible chapters in the past even without ol' Shrimpo.

I thought Guy was going to die in this fight so Rock Lee could take over, but Kishi really is going to end this series without us ever seeing all 8 gates.
