Damn, how can Nurarihyon no Mago be even lower than manga like Pajama na Kanojo ?

Found this graph comparing the average number of panles/speech bubbles in the WSJ manga thanks to Ruggia @OneManga Forum. Bleach has the lowest number of panels and bubbles. It would explain why the story just barely inches along each week.
Where is gintama?
-
Does anyone here read Nura? Can you tell me why it does so bad in the rankings, yet sells a whole bunch of volumes?
For the same reason Naruto & Bleach often get to the first positions despite both are shitty as hell. Nura is top tier quality, more people should read it.
-
Where is gintama?
The dark purple circle in the lower right square seems to have its kanji. But for sure it doesn't have as few bubbles as the chart shows.
-
I like how Bleach is just brooding in the corner there.

Has someone have knowledge of these new series(Koisomi, PSI, Koganeiro…)?

Koganeiro's a mini series, but there's nothing besides that (it doesn't even have a summary on Mangaupdates). Nothing about Koisomi either.
PSI is about a psychic dude.

I looked at the first few pages of Koisomi and it looked like a love story based manga… albeit I might have been looking at the wrong series, it had 2 chapters scanlated.
-
Koisome Momiji is a romantic comedy about a high school actress who asks a guy to be her boyfriend in order for her to get experience for acting. Saiki Kusuo no Psi Nan is a gag manga about a psychic boy - what a surprise, eh - but what is intersting, before it was serialized it was published as one shot quite a lot of times, enough to have a whole volume zero out. No news about Koganeiro yet.

Wtf happened to the scans for Magico?

Wtf happened to the scans for Magico?
No idea. Either they dropped it or they are very busy with other series and their social life.

Bleach lol.
Actually, I'm surprised Bakuman isn't higer up in the text level.

No seriously that suprises me a little too.

Nisekoi in 3rd? Wow that was unexpected. We need a thread for that manga, because I like it very much. :D

Hmm, interesting. I saw my message in double and deleted the first one… and then they both disappeared. Lol, whatever. Anyway, I made a thread for discussing Nisekoi: http://apforums.net/showthread.php?t=35484

About the TOC, didn't Toriko get a color just recently?

I can't believe Nisekoi is doing so well. And it looks to be only a matter of time for Magico.

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2012-06-01/top-selling-manga-in-japan-by-volume/2012-first-half
For a manga that's nearly always in the top 3 now, it's surprising that Toriko is so low on the list.
-
Most of those charts are fairly misleading. Plenty of series sell well as a whole, but less so as individual volumes. And visa-versa. Toriko has been increasing in sales each volume whereas things like Bleach and Reborn have been going down. Also stuff that explodes in popularity do really well in those 6-month charts, like recently Thermae Romae, Gin no Saji, Uchuu Kyoudai, and Kuroko no Baske. Though Kuroko was like 5th in overall sales in that period, none of its volumes were in the "individual volume" sales thing. And Toriko's anime and movie started last year, but its still held up well and sold well in individual volume sales. I think it's the 11th highest in that period on a per-series basis. But like I said, stuff explodes because stuff comes out. And some don't sell well as a whole series, but the individual volumes still sell well. Like Bleach and the like. Then there are series that are popular, but don't have volumes that come out often. Like Berserk, Ao no Exorcist, Shingeki no Kyojin, etc. Bakuman and Kimi to Boku are high-selling but they're ending. Basically what I'm saying is that those charts can be misleading. And you're better off looking at long-term trends. The yearly ones are a little better, but still somewhat subject to the same thing.

YEEEEES!!! A new series from the author of one of my favorite manga? Awesome. A shame he didn't decide to expand on his shopping manga because that seemed really interesting but the title for this one seems intriguing too. Betcha the protagonists will be a sadistic teacher and a female student who will get whacked by the teacher with a ruler all the time.

Yesss, another Matsui Yuusei manga. Just what I needed. I read Neuro on my Christmas holiday and I loved it so much, and the previous oneshot he drew was really amazing. The name doesn't really strike me as something that interesting, to be honest, but knowing his track record it will probably be good nevertheless.

Oh, yeah, the Shopping manga, I think that I called it "The greed toriko" I hope that the female character is the one who gets to be abusive this time.
-
Talking about Neuro; which is the best translation to read it? I've been trying both a spanish one, and the Mangareader and Mangafox ones (I don't know by which groups, sorry), and I've been having a lot of troubles following them. Just on the 3rd chapter, btw, but really, none of them sound natural, more like a more polished google translator talking, and even between them there are a lot of changes, like, the Mangareader one could perfectly say the opposite than the Mangafox one. Really, really confusing.
Any ideas here?

What a strange TOC.
-
Haha Bleach, wow.
-
So was Mago even wraped up ? I know it was in danger of cancelation several times in the past.
Also Bleach is in the bottom 3. And yet Kubo choses to remedy this with a chapter where literaly no plot progression happens. At least whe the FB arc began to tank Kubo seems to have scrapped everything and went into over drive just to finish it as quickly as possible.
-
Jump's lineup is weird these days. We already had 7 series with less than 100 chapters, and now they are starting two more, at the expense of Nurarihyon (and probably Magico in the near future). Isn't it better to start new series with a higher chance of being successful and becoming a long-running flagship, rather than some crappy series like Pajama? Bakuman ended and Bleach is not gonna last for more than two years, Naruto as well. If this keeps up, Jump will only have rather unknown series in its lineup (besides One Piece, Kochikame, Toriko and Beelzebub).
As a side note, why is Binbougami here? Isn't it from SQ? Is this a special chapter to promote the anime?
-
Nurarihyon no Mago (END)
Since it was basically always at the bottom, is it ending because of cancellation or just the authors choice? I haven't been reading it lately because, well, mangareader wasn't sending me any notifications of a new chapter. Don't know what's happening in the manga right now.

Would you cancel a series that sells close to 400.000 copies per volume? It was very obvious the manga was ending. And let's not be mistaken, Nurarihyon no Mago isn't a battle manga.

The new series:
-
I don't know what happens behind the editor curtains, but seriously I think editors should ask authors if they know how they'd like to end their series when they begin. Talking with them about what kind of story structure they intend to do.
One of the points that makes One Piece so ingenious is the setup up of having arcs on islands. Every Island leads them closer to the end of the story yet every island can be it's own story at the same time.
If we look at stories like magico, nura and their pacing which is really aweful at times than you don't really get the idea that they have any clue about proper structuring and just try to adjust their vague stories within the weekly shedule to whatever editors advice them to do.
Of course this isn't meant as a look down on these mangas since being a jump author is somewhat hard if we believe the reports.
But we've had now a large round of really mediocre titles, some with really incredible starts/potential but none that could capitalize on them/it. -
Well that sucks for Nura
