NBA2K13? fuck yes disregard all my hate WII U HYPE OVERLOAD
Nah but more third party games is good. Nice list.
-
Curious to hear the Nintendo fans' thoughts on the Wii-U's emphasis on asynchronous gameplay. Do you like the idea of playing four players with one guy/gal doing something entirely different? I'm fairly mixed on this at the moment.
-
I loved how the Nintendo conference started, Pikmin 3 looks amazing and certainly worth getting. What the rest of the conference proved though, is that the Wii U is not worth getting.
I do admit though that I enjoyed all the random Reggie moments, classics like:
"I feel like a purple pikmin!"
"I like french food!"
"It's like working at Nintendo of America!"And then when I was hoping the video following the conference from Iwata-san would give us something to be excited about, instead I got my new wallpaper:
!
What a shame of a day, I regret even waking up to see this. And I admit I am seriously sick of Mario right now, SO sick. Why the flying f*** do they have a release date for NSMB2 already but not for Luigi's Mansion DM or Paper Mario? These two titles were mentioned LONG ago and they're the ones I actually want to play, not another Mario game I already bought, more than once. That really annoyed me.
Nintendo needs to get its priorities straight. They already got the casual market eating from their hand, now convince the rest of us why we should even keep paying attention to this industry. Especially when instead of ending this with a bang they ended it with a re-hash of Pacman Vs.edit: actually, I do admit Ubisoft seems to be doing amazing stuff, I actually wouldn't mind playing that ZombiU game and Rayman. They definitely won it this year.
-
If NBA2K13 on the Wii-U has a fix for the broken passing system, sign me up. I love those games despite my continued frustration with the passing.
Content wise, I don't think Nintendo has done that badly this year. But their presentation value in their conference was pretty awful. They've had a ton of stuff to show, so much that they split it into 3 conferences, but they presented it so poorly in their main one that it left a feeling of disappointment. I feel like the foundation for a great system is there, and it has a ton of potential, much like I felt about the 3DS when it was released. But my motivation to get it at release has dropped, for sure. I know I'll get it eventually, but I didn't feel motivated not to wait for the 2nd hardware build to do it, which will likely fix some small issues that pop up. I may change my mind, and there are definitely some cool titles coming at or near release (Scribblenaughts, Darksiders 2, AC 3, Rayman, ZombiU, Pikmin 3, NBA, and I still haven't picked up Batman or ME3 yet, which when I look back is a ton of great stuff for the first couple months of a console release), and I know I'll love the system like I always do, but Nintendo really failed to HYPE me up about it today, which is unusual.
I can't really get behind the people who are totally blasting Nintendo today, though. I think they're basing it solely on hype from today's conference. But in reality we also had Sunday's conference about the system which was good, we have the 3DS specific conference tomorrow which is bound to have good stuff since they're devoting an entire hour to it, and Ubisoft stole a lot of their third party thunder with their own press conference. The "wow" factor definitely wasn't there today, but in the long run that means shit and when I look at the big picture, the stuff that does matter seems fairly promising overall.
Sony, on the other hand, only really had a handful of cool games without much else and really managed to maximize the presentation for them to really get people excited. They did fantastically with their presentation itself. I think Nintendo got too caught up in what to announce and forgot how to announce it.

Sounds likelike alot of fun, but it's not all that surprised about it considering they've been trying to make this idea work since the GameCube (Pac-Man VS, Four Swords). However if the original Wii is anything to go by, then I only expect only Nintendo to do anything with this idea.

I got mad watching that guy. He just let the boss scoop up his pikmin, and he walks away. Like their lives don't matter to him. He lots 15 pikmin there, but it could've been more, he wasn't even paying attention. Then he failed completely to do something as simple as gather the pikmin, and got caught himself. holy damn I hate watching people be bad at video games.

I think I'm seeing a pattern
2006: Terrible conference from Sony
2008: Terrible conference from Nintendo
2010: Terrible Conference from Microsoft
2012: Terrible Conference, overall.
(yes I know it's a tad far fetched) -
WiiU has Rayman: Legends. Which looks dope as hell and fun as fuck.
But that's like it…
I'm not a Pikmin fan.
Batman is old and Mass Effect are good, but afterthoughts.
ZombiU just gives me Red Steel vibes... and we ALLL saw how that shaped up.
And a side scrolling Mario is already coming out on another system.
I'm completely not sold on WiiU.
I mean, this IS supposed to be coming out this christmas right? This was their chance to goddamn SELL this thing! Working in retail has taught me how important hype is. Last year Nintendo DOMINATED with the 3DS... and it hasn't even released Luigi's Mansion 2 yet.... but it spread HYPE!
Sure there is anticipation for the WiiU... and I see a lot of what yah'll are saying in it's (the conference's) defense... The unit has potential and will be cool with time and correct application. Miyamoto and Reggie are great personalities and great presenters... they really rock. And the other companies personalities could only dream of the respect they get (Ubisoft's two jokers pissed me off... and Kevin Butler was someplace else being awesome. Jack Tretton, is just uncomfortable and reminds me of corporate greed... and Microsoft... well... eh).
But right now, I see NO HYPE.
None.
Time will tell. Yes. But this was a really good opportunity to sell this thing.
We all hate on E3... but come on.... it IS E3. I'm not gonna say "worst ever"... or demand specific games or franchises... I just wanted to see the WiiU shine.
^honesty right here. Dun bite my head off.

Especially when instead of ending this with a bang they ended it with a re-hash of Pacman Vs.I'm sick of New Super Mario Bros, really, not so much Mario games themselves. But hey, it's Nintendo, so when Mario gets rehashed, it gets a free pass. I understand the whole "as long as the milk ain't spoiled" mentality, but the quality for these NWSMB games has relatively remained the same throughout the series. The first one was pretty good, the others were just ok. They're nothing special, really. Even COD has that certain quality that keeps it from being a completely awful game but it's always just "good" and nothing more, as well. It's not "spoiled milk" by any means, really. I have no problem whatsoever with those who buy every NSMB. They're fun games. What I can't stand is seeing those same people who buy yearly NSMB games bash COD, other shooters and yearly released games.
Also, I don't understand people hyping the games as much as I don't understand people hyping COD or Madden, and even though I have a guilty pleasure when it comes to yearly games (NBA) I never really hype them. That's a special case since it's more of a hype thing with NBA and the start of the season each year than the game itself.
EDIT: I agree with your post, Gekko. I think that's what I was trying to say but I couldn't really find the right words to say it. There is NO hype whatsoever, and while Nintendo's Defense Force might defend the conference and the lack of games shown, they have to understand that hype plays a huge factor in sales, especially when you're launching a brand new console in less than a year. (I'm sure they know this because it's pretty obvious anyway)
You also need answers, you also need to show its online, its capabilities, etc. Apparently I was wrong when I said that showing only the launch games was a mistake to some of you guys, but the point is, showing games even if they're a year or two away builds up hype for the console itself, not just the games. Everyone knew Pikmin 3 was coming, so no surprise there. Everyone expected NSMBWiiU, no surprise there. Wii Fit U? I didn't actually expect it but then again I thought "Lol never mind it IS Nintendo". They're pretty far off in what they think their consumers really want from them. And this isn't a metldown of any sort whatsoever. I got over my disappointment with the conference. I'm still buying Wii U, maybe even at launch. I'm just speaking teh cold hard fax.
Basically it was Nintendo's huge chance to prove all the haters and doubters wrong, kick some ass and take some names Reggie-style, and showcase a great potential console in a huge conference and presentation to attract potential launch buyers, but they did NOT deliver. at all. They had a year to prepare for this and still couldn't deliver. Honestly I was more hyped for the console in E3 2011 than I am now.
Dun worry Gekko.People will certainly bite my head off for this post, but being a fan =/= just sitting there and thinking that Ninty's press conference was actually good and had no problems or mistakes. There's a fine line between a fan and a fanboy. You guys can tell this isn't some bash post or anti-nintendo post, hopefully, because it isn't.

I haven't seen F-Zero in a fucking minute and all it would have took is that to make my head explode.
Complete with amazing soundtrack.
Just a picture of the Blue Falcon… or an Arwing..... or... i dunno.

Tokyo Game Show's going to be fun this year.

Funny and oh so relevant

Congrats. You made me find and dust off my F-Zero GX disc. You must be proud of yourself now.
-
wow =_=
Looks like Pikmen without all the boring.
But. I don't see myself buying this kind of game.
Make Vanqusih 2 and then we can talk.LOL at people calling this the worst E3 ever for Nintendo.
People seem to have forgotten E3 2008,which is honestly quite unbelievable considering that it ended with this…!
Holyshit. The memories. Put it away!
-
Congrats. You made me find and dust off my F-Zero GX disc. You must be proud of yourself now.
Wow, and the track I posted was from the N64 version.
So yeah, I am proud.

Yeah, that doesn't exist. We've had two NSMB games spaced between two years on a handheld and console. Now we're getting 2 more, 3 years later, but on two seperate platforms. I'll admit its dumb to have it on 3ds and wii U so close together, but it really isn't a yearly thing
-
Not a yearly thing but still getting milked big time.
It begins, lol.

Did everyone see the Dishonored gameplay on Spike?

God, Nintendoland better be a fucking pack-in game.
Oh my
"We're even putting the Nintendo name on the line by putting it in the title."
@ Nintendo Land during roundtable.
-
Just curious, but how do you know that it isn't a lot of fun? I mean, I agree it looks like it'll be like wii sports, but it could be a lot better than we think
-
Because I like bitching about games I've never played
I don't know I get the feeling it won't be worth 50/60 dollars. Looks like it'd make for a better DLC game.
-
Honestly it annoys me when people do that. I'm not saying you're completely wrong, but I am saying that its dumb to judge stuff like this from a brief look
-
F-Zero land confirmed for Nintendoland. It's a good way of introducing the IP to a lot of casuals so they could end up reviving the franchise.
-
The second I saw I can turn civilians into a giant sword and beat up robots with it, I fell in love with Project P-100.
-
Alright I just finished watching Nintendo E3 Conference I didn't have the opportunity to watch live due to personal circumstances.
Pikmin 3 looks pretty dope and Arkham City Wii U looks amazing and I think ZombiU and Lego City will be fun as hell.
NintendoLand is alright nothing I'm too hyped for.
Unfortunately I think Nintendo could have brought more to the table this year. But I'm going to see if the 3DS conference will bring any more.
-
I am shocked that this upcoming console launch has barely any games what so ever.
It rarely ever happens… -
I know right. I mean doesn't every console start with 100 new games, 50 of which are triple A titles and twenty of those are new ips?
-
I am shocked that this upcoming console launch has barely any games what so ever.
It rarely ever happens…Think he means they could have shown more.
My baby.. what have they done to you.. reduced you to.. nothing more than a simple mini-game.. :(
-
The problem with showcasing uninspired launch games is that those are generally what you're going to have for quite a while. The Vita had a stellar launch that had people excited about the system, even when press conferences concentrated on the launch window.
Those are still the only games we've got, for the most part.
-
Wii U will probably be the same as the 3DS for it's launch have next to nothing in the beginning and then within the next year or 2 will get awesome or atleast decent games.
-
I hope there are some localization announcements at the 3DS conference tomorrow and they don't piss the time away going over the same 3DS games they showed today.
-
Wii had several core first party games in its launch line up compared to Wii U's line up so far.
But either way I've bitched enough, the launch line up is good. I'm pretty excited for Pikmin 3.
Forgot about Aliens, too. It was meant to be demoed but somehow couldn't make it. Retro and Monolith's games couldn't be shown either, supposedly they'll need some more time to work on them.
-
Yeah, what happened to the third party support? There's maybe 3 games.
The Wii U Scribblenauts looks amazing though, and is really what I was expecting out of the one for the DS. It also doesn't have that annoying horizontal line that appears on Maxwell when he moves back and forth on the DS version which is nice too.

Here's a list of Wii Launch Titles: [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wii_launch
N](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wii_launch)ot that good, either. Cream of the crop was Twilight Princess (and, oddly enough, Wii Sports), and Zelda was basically a tacked-on Wii game. WiiU already looks on par with that, and certainly better than the PS3 launch.

I hope there's more to the mini games than just a 5 minute session, and they said they only had what, 13 "attractions"? I would like at least a couple of decently lengthy tracks for the F-Zero one.
I'm curious as to what the Zelda one is, but I imagine it's something like the sword fighting game in Wii Sports Resort.
-
The only way NintendoLand would redeem itself in my eyes is if it came free with the system, like Wii Sports, and if it got updated with new attractions every now and then, possibly as a strategy to increase interest in new games.
Also, now I remember, wasn't there supposed to be stuff for Kirby's 20th anniversary or something?
-

Did we all see different launch lists?
http://media.nintendo.com/pressroom/E32012/WiiU/WiiU_Upcoming_Games_List_E312.pdf There are at least 30 games on that list that will be ready at launch.
And there are quite a few third party title. Don't forget that Project P100, depsite being published by Nintendo, was developed by Platinum Games.
-

I suddenly fear that you're right…and at this point I wouldn't even be surprised

Ha. Ha. Hardy. Har.
There are still a lot of casual games, and kid games sure, but then you also have (among others):
NBA 2k13
Mass Effect 3
Assassin's Creed 3
Arkham City: Armored Edition
Darksiders 2
Avengers: Battle for Earth
Zombi U
Rayman Legends
Scribblenauts
New Super Mario BrosThat's a pretty solid launch line up. I'll probably drop money on AC 3, Rayman, Zombi U, and Avengers at Launch, based on reviews.
Mario, Arkham, and Darksiders are all things I'll also look into picking up down the road.
And I'm sure we'll see more games announced down the road before launch.
This blows the Wii and 3Ds's launches out of the water. and yes, it's mainly thanks to Ubisoft.
-
A lot of casual games, and kid games, but then:
Rayman Legends
Scribblenauts
NSMB:ninja:
Arkham City and ME3 have already been released though, and I wouldn't think someone who hasn't played those games already would get them for a brand new Nintendo console.
-
whistle Wow, Square-Enix's recent RPGs may be contentious, but they sure as hell know how to work their technology. The old man in the beginning I felt was especially impressive. It would be cool to have an RPG take place entirely in a Middle Eastern-inspired setting.
Heh, I just finished reading Star By Star, so those hyena-monsters made me instantly think of the voxyn.
-
Does this mean FF is finally going to get rid of its prerendered cutscenes? I haven't played hardly any FF games but do they still use prerendered cutscenes?
-
Well, it's a tech demo.
-
Good scott, it's going to take a massive amount of effort to make a game in coming years with the increased graphical clarity and demand for spectacle. Hell, look at the Years of Brown for current-gen consoles.
-
:ninja:
Arkham City and ME3 have already been released though, and I wouldn't think someone who hasn't played those games already would get them for a brand new Nintendo console.
I get that for Scribblenauts, though it's fantastically fun, but Mario is a classic, and Rayman looks fantastic.
I know people who don't have anything but a Wii, so they'll enjoy it, and if Arkham City is that different, and as rewarding on the Wii U as they say it is, I'll have to check it out.
But when it comes to games like these, however what's really important is what they represent. It means the developers will be back with their new games on the Wii U. It's a good sign when they take the time out to remake a game they're already done with.
