Pretty nice episode, we're almost to the climax! Which hopefully will be as good or better than the manga.
Oh and Zeo and Dosun were awesome in this episode.

@great:
Those Posun, Dosun, Dogan types of words have meaning? I just thought he was using a new word for each "power level" he was hitting.
Here's how chihirou translated it when the manga came out:
Alright, guys. You guys might not know the idea behind Dosun's power gauge, so here you go:
Dosun, the initial sound Dosun is adding to end all sentences coming from his mouth means thud,
Kotsun, the sound he's adding when he's extremely weakened, means clink,
Potsun is equal to English drop, as if rain was falling,
Posun is the harsher potsun,
Tosun is the weaker dosun,
Dogan is the harsher dosun.
Bokan means thump,
Sugan is the sound for a heavy swoosh.Bagon is a heavy wham,
Gyaban would be a furious strike.I think it's funny, but without knowing japanese, it's hard to get it. XD
To me, it's basically like someone shouting out "Crash!", "Pow!" and "Wa-bam!"
-
HAHA That is hilarious, thank you.
-
This was probably the most entertaining part of the episode.
-
Hmm, well it makes a bit more sense. I still don't think it's that funny, but I'm not one on word play. Most of Oda's jokes make me roll on the floor, so it's okay if I don't find ALL of them funny.
-
I have a serious bone to pick with the Fishman Island construction crews that build all these places from paper-mache. That Hyouzo-cutting-up-giant-building scene was cringe-worthy, even by the One Piece laws of physics. Also a couple of really wonky background shots with Daruma toppling the candy factories.
Very glad they made Hody's hair white, though, instead of the blue Oda randomly gave him in the volume cover. Even though in the manga they specifically talk about his hair turning white.. you just never know with Toei's coloring department. They like to play it wild.
-
luffy and jinbe shouldn't even have appeared.
Agreed.
! The straw hat's absence for like 4 weeks made their entrance even more epic because we were excited to see them. I thought Zeo was the highlight of this episode lol.

Yeah, but then again, Oda clearly doesn't give a shit about color schemes. It's like he doesn't put a lot of thought when he's forced to color something.
That's why i chuckle everytime i see a passionate color scheme debate about OP. -
I took Oda's colouring of Hody on Vol. 65 to be similar to what he did on Vol. 14 and 57, except that he coloured Hody's eyes to highlight his cold, menacing stare.
-
Like said, the animation of these chapters is pretty brilliant. Not only was the NFP showcased more which makes them all the more likable, it was very well made with Hody's experience and that of those around him when Hody transformed.
The moment where the ones behind him ask if he is okay, there is a moment after he responds that they show worry. I liked that moment because of how much focus the transformation got throughout.
Agreed though that the Luffy/Jimbei bit wasnt needed at all, couldnt they have stretched out NFP showcasing during those 30-40 seconds instead? Did they really think the audience needed a reminder that they are still not finished arguing? Thanks to that bit, it makes me feel as if they're showing Luffy and Jimbei to be screaming at each other constantly as Hody makes way for the Plaza.Zeo: Awesome showcase of stubborn nobility?
Dosun: Even if his ranked stepping of the ends to his sentences, the anger shown felt genuine. an okay if not good scene.
Hyozu: Rather enjoyable, if the structure just wouldn't have randomly exploded behind him.
Ikaros: I didnt feel much for this, but it wasnt bad either. an okay showcase for Ikaros.
Daruma: It would be an okay bit for Daruma, only that I found the sound effect for his chewing to be annoying. Maybe its just the sound being as sharp as it was, or its repetive and constant noise whenever he tunneled.
Hordy: Genuine feel all around. To me it felt like this scene with Hody was given the most focus as both the crew around him and he himself experienced and showed their reactions to the transformation. -
Ratings this week were the same as last's: 8.8
And 5.5 for OP Special Edition (episode 9, i think) -
Refresh my memory, was Hody's hair on that cover old-lady blue (aka stylized white), or was it Fukaboshi blue (aka…blue blue). There is a difference.
-
!
-
Okay, that looks like old-lady blue + shadow to me.
-
dunno, after he got transformed in his overpower form, it looks like he got a boner or something o____o or its simply weird drawn or it was the perspective…cough His crotch was wider as usual...
-
One thing that never made sense to me is: why the side effects of the ES transformation are the same as when someone simply ingests some few ES without transforming? I mean, if you'll suffer the same exact side effects in the end- just get old -why restrain yourself taking just one ES when you can take a bunch instead and power up a lot more?
I really thought that Hody and Hyozou would get more fucked up than the rest of the new fishmen pirates because of the transformation thing, but in the end…well... it just didn't happen.:wassat: -

! At the end, they all looked old, but we can assume… or just imagine, that the ones that transfored became older and more frail
! I hope Hody suffers from artritis and a loose bladder haha, do you imagine him with adult diapers? :P -
Amazing Episode as always!
-
@Dahaka.:
Where can I see ratings for one piece?
-
Huh, the New Fishman Pirates are actually entertaining in the anime.
A lot more than in the manga.
I even enjoyed the 'Posun, Dosun, Dogan!' thing.
I thought so too. The gags sort of paced better in the anime. The manga was a bit too manic, which is unusual since the manga usually handles its manic comedy pretty well.
