Calling him Barrage is like calling Naruto Narudo. Regardless of whether or not "Barrage" is a cooler name, it's still not a correct translation.
I'm not super up in arms about this or anything–I'm going to subscribe to Alpha because I want to support Horikoshi. But it's just a fact
yo, no gliblord nevermind I was just
goofing around
I never said I disliked his name being BULGE nor was I endorsing "barrage" lol was just making an unimportant/unfunny note about people reacting to its name
it's not important
don't mind me I'm seriously not saying anything about the title worth paying attention to
It's funny because his real name is Astro anyway
Excuse me in japan it's called ATOM not astro
alliiiiiiieeeeeenns

The difference is that neither Naruto or Narudo mean anything to an English speaker. But an adolescent, bright-eyed sci-fi story/character named "Bulge" that doesn't have anything to do with sexual innuendo is a no-brainer alteration for any localization effort that intends to be taken seriously and do credit to the spirit of its source material. It's the reason why Char Aznable's alias is Quattro Bajeena rather than the original intended name of "Quattro Vagina" because, y'know, he's supposed to be an iconic and masterful villain, not a dude with four pussies. Railing against the fact that the name was altered doesn't mean it wasn't a good idea.

Lol at Quattro Vagina
I get you, but wasn't simply "Baruji" an acceptable localization, too?
Hahahah! Even Bajeena sounds weird.
Not gonna lie, the first thing I thought upon seeing the title was what stephen described.
I'm not upset. I'm just curious. lol This character obviously never intended to come back, so what would motivate him to re-enter the manga? It's all pure speculation.
Because he's young, and realized he made a stupid mistake like most teens do?
He won't come back to save the people though, he'll probably just come back because women won't sleep with him because he's a bum in the slums.

The missing fore-arm and gaping hole in his head aren't helping either.
Not to mention his body being dead.
Why are those that follow basic shonen writing so predictable I wonder?
Always believing a character is dead, and always pissing themselves off when they find out he/she isn't.
If there's anything I'm looking forward too, it's that exact reaction in the foreseeable future.
@Sonic:
Not to mention his body being dead.
You can survive being shot in the head.
Can't wait for chapter 3
Also, I'm reading oumagadoki and I gotta say, kohei's character designs are second only to oda.
Chapter's Out on redhawk scans
http://manga.redhawkscans.com/reader/read/sensei_no_bulge/en/0/3/page/1
Really was not expecting this. Pretty much destroys most of wat I was predicting. Although I still expect him to have to fight someone with a grudge against the real Bulge before they find out it isn't him/he's "different" and become an ally. Its nice to be so thoroughly wron with a manga like this
Sold. I'm a regular.
This was good, not as good as the previous ones, but still good.
So… Redhawk will have to take out the chapters that Alpha puts on?
The part where the King is telling Astro about the journey reminded me of getting quests from the Jarls in Skyrim. Other than that, I'm still not impressed by this series…
This shit is getting better and better. A bit generic of a story? Yes. Fantastic design, cool themes and lots of potential? Hell yes. I'm sticking with this until it ends or goes full Fairy Tail.
Awesome chap. I'm really curious about the world now. Even more than before. It's a bit sad that the mission didn't go further than a simple suppression. It might have been wiser to attempt going straight to the hideout with a few more soldiers, but yeah. Not too bad. The character design the world has this Radiata Stories lore to it, but with aliens. Which is cool.
And this chap made me like Taimat. I mean, he was okay before but he really grew on me.
Even though it's depressing and fairly dark seeing the run down decrepit structures and landscape, just simply having aliens kinda for me at least lightens the mood. You know they are bad and evil but I just can't bring myself to loathe them, instead it's kinda light hearted which I am enjoying.
Also, that car on top of the carriage was a really nice touch.
Okay chapter all around. Astro gets more character development and learns he can't do everything just because he has the ORG.
Though I'm concerned about how fast it was. It went straight from "lolkay Astro we know who you are and we're fine with it so you're the new Prince" to "okay, so you've been here for like a day. TIME TO GO DEFEAT BANDITS!!!". You'd think there'd be at least a chapter or two grace period for him to get settled in.
All I'm missing is more of a "happening" when leaving the city. I wanted to see an immense gate or something.
That was another good chapter. The alien looked really detailed and cool. Its good to see the typical shonen protagonist done well for once, for the start of the series you dont really need much originality, but good execution and a few aspects to set the series apart from others. I think the space theme, unique art style and the focus on family rather friends is good enough for now.
Chapter reminds me a bit of Samurai Deeper Kyos beginning. Only with less rampant fanservice, less bishonens, a main character who isn't a smug smartass, and a lot more aliens.
In other words, a lot better.

I only have a problem with this manga, I think his previous work was better than this and that's why I keep thinking why did it have to end?!
I wonder how efficient space travel will be rationalized in this series. I mean, it can't be cheap to travel between planets just to raid poor villages.
The only thing I disliked about this chapter is that line:
"I won't forgive you!"
Why do heroes always say that? I don't think the villain cares man.
I'm still in love with the art style though.
It's really more of a shorthand for ''I'm gonna beat you within an inch of your life!'' No mercy.
Amazingly, no matter how fatal an attack seems, it usually is literally within an inch of their opponents life.
Oh yeah, and the villager who likes boiling people should get help.
Loved the shooting sword. And the chapter was really nice.
I wonder when the elephant in the room will be adressed;
namely: the real prince didn't just die, he was assasinated. Raising the questions of A) why? and B) is no one afraid of another attempt, this time on Astro?

I think this one has a lot more potential than the last. It's a SciFi/steampunkish/alien/frontier planet with an entire universe around it. There's just as much room for awesome characters designs and much more room for interesting plotlines and cool settings. @The:

What if the King did it because he knew his son was a dick!?

He's a prince with a powerful weapon that could be used to stop aristocrat aliens from doing as they pleased. Pretty sure they set that up.
This chapter felt kind of weak compared to the past ones, but I really liked the duo mechanics of Astro and Tiamat.
I think that the artist is kinda worried to start an arc this early in the series, as he might be worried about it happening like Oumagadoki, where they had to quickly solve the entire story in a few pages. He wants to play it safe for a while.
It's "The Author", using the Artist you imply that there's a Writter and a Drawer (the artist) of the manga, and… this guy, is just himself. Yes, manga can be art, it isn't about that, but it's the terms popularized by Bakuman, and shonen jump itself, and going against them can lead to confusion.
Nice chapter, but I think that we'll see more of the bandits, as they haven't rescued the rest of the people.
Just read the first chapter in SJA. Nice quality. Nice translation. But I gotta wonder why they translated ORG as orgue.
Here's the message from the author:
I like American comics, so I'm excited about my own manga coming out in English. I'm going to work hard so that many people will be able to read it!
Lol, as always Engurish is hilarious. (assuming that IS engurish and not your bad spelling)
Do we see this girl further in story from oneshot:

She has interesting design, and it would be funny to see tiamat reaction.

Hmm, I wonder if any of these crazy concepts will make it in the final. I mean OP's several one-shots had a Nami look-a-like and Garp in them. I'm even more excited to see how this does now. Spaces whale things? Blackhole-looking things? All looks cool. Also thought the new chapter was out, but sadly wasn't.
I also found out that Bulge can also mean a tight group of stars in the center of a spiral galaxy in astronomical terms, which is interesting.

Bulge will eventually have to go into space, so yeah, I can see him eventually taking on entire fleets of ships in the future.

The prince's name is Bulge. The main character is Astro.

Dude, no, that's crazy. You make it sound like the prince got replaced or something.
Psht..
