In what interview did Oda explain why he doesn't often kill characters?
I can't think of an interview, but in SBS Volume 4 he says this:
R: Why doesn't Luffy ever kill his enemies? If you look back, he didn't kill Mohji, he didn't kill Helmeppo or Captain Morgan, or anyone. Well, Zoro was the one who beat Morgan, but still. Why?
O: Ahh, good question. First of all, Morgan is still alive. He's being held in prison now by his former subordinates. So why didn't Luffy kill him? In this era, people put their lives on their beliefs and convictions, and fight. When he goes into battle, Luffy is destroying others' beliefs. And when these enemies' beliefs are shattered and defeated, they feel a pain equal to death. I think that for these pirates, killing or not killing is secondary to winning or losing.

I don't have the source but in one interview he said he hates when writers kill characters just to get an emotional reaction. And something like he doesn't like to kill characters if they are still useful to the story.

That's a bit of cheesy excuse if true, because he does everything short of actually killing the character. The emotional buildup, the dramatic reactions, the implied death - they just happen to come back afterwards with a scar or two, otherwise it's no different from them having died.

I am sort of confused with what can hurt Luffy and what can't.
Rayleigh said that Haki was required hurt someone with a certain DF (Luffy's rubber for instance), and that without
Haki a blunt force attack wouldn't hurt Luffy, right? I found that disappointing, but reading the older chapters it seemed certain attacks still damaged Luffy.http://www.mangapanda.com/103-2331-7/one-piece/chapter-224.html
Obviously Bellamy doesn't use Haki, but in the next few pages we see Luffy is obviously scuffed up.
So would punching Luffy not hurt him, but a hit that slams him into the ground or wall would?
Do objects have Haki or something? -

Do objects have Haki or something?"Scuffed up" and being hurt are completely different. After having your head smashed through a counter you'd get pretty dirty/cut up.

What IS the secret to Dr. Kureha's youth?? Yes i know, i'm sure someone has asked this :P
I think it's the plum wine she drinks all the time. Was it plum?
no actually the answer is: "being happy". It's stated in SBS.

Not related to the manga
Why is Robin's singing so weird in the Family character song? -
Why doesn't Oda draw more color spreads like this one:

WHY???

WHY???
Maybe because there are young children read the manga?? and it's not a hentai….
Oh and it also only has 2 characters in it.... What's the point of that?

I was afraid that one piece would turn into more like fairytail when I saw the post-timeskip Nami and Robin but Oda has kept things together pretty well. One piece doesn't need stuff like: couples, fan service or moe to be awesome. Even tho personally I love the fact that mugiwara crew has 2 beautiful females giving the crew more color.
My question: Why does Roger know how to read poneglyphs or did his crew have an oharan archeologist?

Roger didn't know how to read the poneglyphs, he had the ability to hear the voice of all things.

Someone knows how much One Piece has sold over these almost 15 years? How much over 200 million copies? If you can answer me, please, do so and quote this post so that I can see Haven't been able to be much present on threads.. Oh and if possible, with the font. Thanks a hell lot in advance!

If the Sky People came from the moon, why do they look so much like humans? xD

Probably has nothing to do with anything. The answer is probably as simple as, they just do.

According to Anime News Network, One Piece has over 260 million books in print. Exactly how many of those books printed have been sold to customers, I don't know and I'm not even sure that data is available.

I have a question that´s been bugging me for a while. How and when does Luffy´s new attack "Red Hawk" work?
I don´t mean any physical or biological explanation, i just want to know when one of Luffy´s attack ends up as "Red Hawk".
The reason i am asking is because i always thought that Red Hawk is the result of Gear 2 + BS Haki combined and that Luffy only uses BS in his normal state otherwise (for example against Hodi or the Dragon Luffy used either BS Haki or G2 alone). Unfortunately, Luffy had already used this combination before (http://www.mangareader.net/103-58198-13/one-piece/chapter-601.html) , so i am a bit confused about this matter. -
I'm not certain he uses haki there, he only uses gear second in the run up. Although I suppose his hand does look black in the next panel.
Edit: Hmm nvm, pretty sure he does use haki there. No idea then…

It seems that CoA Hardening interacts with his devil fruit. It may be confusing, but there is a difference.

I'm pretty sure he's purposefully vulcanizing his arm, just like with Elephant Gun.

can somebody explain plz, how do normal people get from grandline to blue seas? Or from one blue to another? Like Sanji did.
Like…calm belt everywere, and revers mountain from blue seas to grand line, so....It's something simple, i guess, but still i don't get it :) Link please, if there are any. -

Like…calm belt everywere, and revers mountain from blue seas to grand line, so....It's something simple, i guess, but still i don't get it :) Link please, if there are any.I don't think it is ever said specifically how Sanji came to be in East Blue, but we know that there are at least 2 ways to travel the Calm Belt. The Marines do it with sea stone coated hulls on their ships so that Sea Kings don't notice them. And the Kuja Pirates use their Yuda snakes to fend off the Sea Kings and a paddle boat. Also, Rayleigh was able to swim through the Calm Belt from the outside. Not to mention, Fisher Tiger was able to climb the Red Line, and it was mentioned that the WG does allow over the Red Line travel(but not for pirates). So there are many options for sea to sea travel, but it is not easy. Most people that aren't pirates or marines just stay on their respective islands due to how hard it is to travel.
-
well, i know all that, it's just don't help in any way
I think there should be some easy way to get from one sea to another for a commoners. Without crossing calm belt, or going through marijois. Gotta ask Oda :ninja: -
Yeah, we certainly don't know, I am really waiting for Oda to explain this. I suppose government bridges like Tequila Wolf are a possibility. Or maybe a the government has a service that ferries people across the calm belt, we'll know some day.
-

Or once you're on the GL - Unless you're strong enough to cross the Calm Belt you stay in the Calm Belt - although that does then raise the question of how Don Krieg managed to get out - because from the look of it, reverse mountain seems 1 way.
-
mihawk just sliced reverse mountain for the Lolz

Wait, how would a ship as big as Don Krieg's, get over Reverse Mountain in the first place?
I'm guessing that it simply crossed the Calm Belt,
and that Sea Kings were unwilling to attack it because it was too big, or because it looked like a ghost ship.
This theory is strengthened by the fact that Mihawk goes to the New World shortly afterwards,
so he's probably just crossing the Calm Belt at that point, killing Sea Kings as he goes. -
Speaking of Roger's 'voice of all things', i'm assuming that it's just extremely adept usage of CoO. Is there any reason to think that idea is unlikely to be the case?

How strong do you guys think Ivankov really is? It is a very vague subject
What we know about him:
-He's the most notable ally of Dragon(so far, at least)
-He cannot defeat Magellan
-affiliated with Kuma in the past
-Decimated pre-timeskip Sanji
-Spams Death Wink and variations of Death WinkWe can also assume that however strong Sanji has become after the timeskip, that Ivankov is stronger. (since his and Mihawk's roles were similar)
There is also some varied ideas in Impel Down regarding Ivankov's strength:
Don't ask what chapter this is from but Ivankov implied that he could leave Impel Down whenever he wanted(He said something along the lines of "I don't need to saved by Bon-boy. That's cute.") But still didn't come close to defeating Magellan. Why was he so confident about being able to leave?Hopefully, Dragon's most notorious comrade is at least vice-admiral level, but there is some evidence against that.
Still, its hard to tell if he really exerted himself at impel down/marineford.Opinions/thoughts?

It comes down to weaknesses.
1: He may have been defeated because of trying to protect Inazuma or some other newkamas. I mean, he wasn't even that defeated, as he soon enough bashed his way to the top floor and was still in good enough condition to fight for a while.
2: My main point: Other than Death Winks and their variations, Ivankov's attack are pretty physical, which sucks against a Poison man. How would Sanji fare against him? Only Deayn Winks and Rankyaku's would work, even diable jambe would poison Sanji (unless Oda pulls a "the heat burned through the poison" moment).
'Untouchable DFs" like poison and magma just generally outpower physical fighters. Up to a point, obv.We have no confirmation of Iva being adept at Haki, or else his fight against Magellan could have gone the other way. I personally believe Sanji can use Haki now, but it doesn't explain why Iva didn't seem to use it against Magellan or Akainu.

so far we haven't really seen any haki imbued DF attacks, so it leads me to think you might not be able to imbue haki into your DF attacks. Luffy's case could be different because he's become a different substance permanently (unlike other paramecia's such as magellan/who can "activate" their powers), it seems like physical fighters like luffy and jozu could have h4x abilities because of this advantage. Since death wink is really just pressurized air i suspect he can't really imbue haki into it, and magellan probably has enough DF mastery for ivankov's CoA to not be good enough, without going into a power level discussion i believe he was close to admiral level pre-ts, but his lack of haki really has me asking questions.

Was this supposed to be "Soru run"..?
What's Doru run?
Wax run?

Boa's pistol kiss apparently had Haki when she shot Luffy. Not to mention the way Haki visually affects Luffy's rubber hands.
Though the Death Wink is an interesting subject and I have no idea if it can be imbued with Haki. I wonder if that counts as a projectile? A flying form of armor Haki, hmmm… I'm certain being the right hand man of the most wanted man in the world means something and he already knew what Haki was. I don't doubt he can use it to some extent. Plus he was so confident when battling Magellan I can't imagine he believed he had no hope to win.

I think you mean that non-physical attacks, cannot be imbued with Haki.
Because we've seen it in conjunction with Luffy's, Jozu's, and Hancock's DF powers. -

Ivankov close to admiral level?? Unless he was really holding back(I mean really), there is no way that can be backed up.
Or did you mean Magellan?
-
I am going to say, based on personal observation…
Stronger than Crocodile and Hancock.
Perhaps as strong as Jinbe and Kuma.
Weaker than the Admirals. -

sorry i didn't specify, magellan that is. ivankov in my mind was above VA but under magellan/shilliew, he is 2nd in command of revs, so i'm still confused about him/her/it not using haki either. Magellan should be able to also, he does have to guard level 6 prisoners after all.

Not really a question about One Piece, more a question about Oda.
Why does Oda keep out of the public eye so much? Is it because he's shy? To me, anyway, he seems like a rather shy person.

That's always been my guess. He really seems like a little kid at heart. Yeah, he's a father and such, but he still loves to write something children will love and seems to have a lot of that in him. I always picture him as that shy kid that doesn't really talk, but once you talk to him about something he likes he'll never shut up!

He wants people to look at the Straw Hats as the stars, not him. That's why when you'll see interviews with him you won't see his face. He requests that to the photographers.
Though after seeing how he looks I doubt he'd stand out in a crowd.
I don't think he's shy. He's managed to attend JUMP Festa just fine and speak in front of his fans. I remember reading about one such occasion where he left the stage and then came back and while he was gone, Mayumi Tanaka told the crowd to tell him something when he came back. So when he did come back they all personally thanked him and he broke down in tears.

Rayleigh said that you have to undergo specific training to master Haki, so it wouldn't be too much of a surprise.
On the other hand, Ivankov clearly has knowledge of Haoshoku (perhaps Dragon can use CoC). -
http://eatmanga.com/Manga-Scan/One-Piece/One-Piece-570/page-5
To me Iva's line in the upper left panel seemed to imply that Dragon has CoC as well since those are Iva's thoughts right after Luffy uses CoC.

Is the tsunami created by WB at the war bigger than the tsunami at water 7?

I don't know which was bigger is size, but if Aokiji did not freeze Whitebeard's Marineford would have more damage than Water 7 since there were actually TWO tsumani coming from opposite directions.

Oh Ye of the Occult! How long will it be before we see the next cover-story? If I remember correctly, some people mentioned that there's some pattern Oda follows with this(?)
