@Master:
Does anyone remember the Double Dragon cartoon?
The Double Dragon cartoon rocked. I remembered waking up at 6:30am every Saturday to watch it. Also, does anyone remember that one Cop cartoon where it was kind of GI Joe? The leader of the cops was made of steel or something like that. I think the name of the show was called "Cops", but im not sure. Im a 'tard like that sometimes. I can't believe that i can't remember the name, can anyone help me out??
-
Freakazoid was another one. I used to watch that like a religion. Anyone used to as well?
-
There was a double dragon cartoon. wow, that's something I missed.
I know chipmunks was already menchioned, but I remember the movie. I still love it. The chipettes are soo kawaii!! -
The good old days when cartoons were funny and cool, Freakazoid, (Dexters older brother "ahh it's the blue guy"). My favorite back then was absolutely Pirates of Dark Water and Swatcats, Swatcats was so cool, i just loved Darkcat, Metalicats, the Pastmaster, and their gagets, i wanted something like that.
What do we get today Alpha Teens on Machines  (ATOM they think thaaat sounds cool):bang:.
And i just watched a cartoon for five seconds and those five seconds were WTF. Those anybody know Super Robot Monkey Team Hyper Force Go . I must repeat myself WTF. -
When America tries to make anime, it's usually stupid and insults your intelligence, like Wulin warriors…
-
I thought Wulin Warriors was a badly dubbed Taiwanese show.

I know chipmunks was already menchioned, but I remember the movie. I still love it. The chipettes are soo kawaii!!You mean the movie where they traveled around the world in hot air balloons? YES, I loved that movie! I still love the songs, and if I can ever find them to download . . . .

@The:
I mean: The land before time having sequels is nothing but lies and slander! Lies, i say!
The suggestions that they exist are lies, more lies, and damnable lies.
Hmm…I actually remember it as pretty stylized, with the colours especially...the way she blends into the rock.
I meant stylized more in the sense that, while you got a pretty good idea what happened to Bambi's mom, it had an… abstract, I suppose is the the way to put it, or unreal touch compared to the way Littlefoot's mother died.
No I'm pretty sure the one I saw was a series…Main char was a dog, Female was a squirrel, I think. I've never seen the other.
I dunno about a series, but Rock and Rule featured a glam rocker trying to summon a demon with a girl's singing voice and the main characters in it were animals mutated by a nuclear apocalypse that wiped out humanity.
You sure that wasn't it?
Agreed. The one with the Sewr Alligators puppet theatre is one of my fav's; come to think of it, didn't a "courage…" episode use somewhat the same idea?
The phrase "the same idea" and Courage the Cowardly Dog can only be used in the loosest sense as Courage put a thoroughly unique twist on everything it did.
It's about a small girl named Rosie, who'd face som adult-related problem, and dream up a solution.
I kind of vaguely remember it, but more as a show that I never watched than anything else.
Too bad; it was a great show, nicely animated and faithful to the comics -and with great Va's, in Denmark at least.
I've read a few of the comics and really enjoyed them. If I ever get a chance to watch some of the animation, I'll be sure to do so.
I heard him not long ago….not sure really.
They're still using the same voice clips (I heard the "Nobody understands him but his woman" Bobobo clip on Saturday), but I don't know if he's recorded any new voiceovers lately.
It's like, how far can we push this to make it as crude and shocking as possible? But there was something in the grittiness of the style that I found appealing, as with a lot of his work. .
That's one of the things that always bugged me about Bakshi's work; so much of it was designed around pushing the envelope for the sake of doing just that. Three decades later, some of it isn't particularly all that shocking anymore so what else is there?
Nope. Like I said, I'm still waiting for a widescreen uncut editon. The anniversary edition is so not worth buying.
Man, I hate when they do that. Not as much as I hate when people release four episodes to a DVD rather than a season set, but yeah, I hate it when people release a subpar DVD with the obvious intent of releasing a better edition down the road.
-
This isn't a cartoon, but the other day I found myself longing for the old classic version of All That. Y'know, when it was good.
Someday I want to go to the local library, find people chatting, then yell "QUIET! THIS IS A LIBRARY! THERE IS NO TALKING IN THE LIBRARY!!"
Ahh, classic.
-
Yes that was indeed classic, my favorite moment of classic All That is "Welcome to Good Burger, home of the Good Burger may I take your order!" Man I also missed Kenen and Kel that show rules, and that how I begin to love Orange Soda.
-
Hey, im new to this thread, but there are only two words to describe where my entire childhood took place:
EARTHWORM JIM!!!!!1one -
Oh my god, I love Earthworm Jim, when it was on Saturday mornings when I was a kid, I would watch that and Freakzoid back to back. hehe
-
QUOTE:No I'm pretty sure the one I saw was a series…Main char was a dog, Female was a squirrel, I think. I've never seen the other.
This is a quote from a quote....um, not sure, but could this be "the get along gang" I think that's what they were called.
These cartoons arn't that old, but anyone remember the shows, "Cibersix", and "Nighthood" (another version of Lupin, I perfer over the anime)
-
This is a quote from a quote….um, not sure, but could this be "the get along gang" I think that's what they were called.
The notion of the Get-Along Gang trying to open a gateway to Hell amuses me immensely.
"Let's all open a Gateway to Hell!"
"YEAH!"
"Uh… maybe that's a bad idea."
"There you go thinking for yourself again!" -
Dude, I love YouTube.
You guys want nostalgic? How about the original singular episode Pryde of the X-Men!?
Anybody remember this? It was a pilot for an X-Men cartoon that never got greenlighted, but they put the pilot on tape as a kind of OAV. It's cheesiness to the extreme (Brotherhood of Mutant terrorists!?) but I love it all the same.
Partly because it has this scene:
Blob: NOBODY MOVES THE BLOB!
Nightcrawler: And I wouldn't dream of trying to. Aufweidersein. bamf
Blob: Where go? -
You guys want nostalgic? How about the original singular episode Pryde of the X-Men!?
I have that tape!
The theme song, hell the entire thing is a trainwreck.
Even crazier is that the guy who plays Wolverine plays Volgin in Metal Gear Solid 3.
-

You sure that wasn't it?
Sorry, but I'm sure. In the one I'm thinking of they were just animals by default, and it was set in a pirate world. The setting was some islands where the heroes were hiding from an evil pirate, and his occult ally.
The phrase "the same idea" and Courage the Cowardly Dog can only be used in the loosest sense as Courage put a thoroughly unique twist on everything it did.
Agreed. Attack of the eggplants anyone? Or the one with the plagues…Classics. But perhaps theres some litterature/ urban legend involving a sewer alligator/ puppet theatre? Or perhaps it's some weird spinoff of Phantom of the Opera...
I've read a few of the comics and really enjoyed them. If I ever get a chance to watch some of the animation, I'll be sure to do so.
You should. Most Europeans have basically declared Tintin the best comic of all time.
-
Hey, im new to this thread, but there are only two words to describe where my entire childhood took place:
EARTHWORM JIM!!!!!1oneI love you. Earthworm Jim is so darn funny.
 Hope it'll be on DVD soon. That'll be cool.More old shows:
Heathcliff-It wasn't around during my time, but the videos were okay.
Speed Racer- I use to stay up late and watch that.
Johnny Quest- Still cool.
Wacky Racers- Kind of funny.
Tom and Jerry Kids- LOVED that show.
Smurfs- Was interesting to watch.
My life was based on television.
-
OMG, Ubiq, You just reminded me of JEM! How could I forget Jem. she's truley truley truley outragous I wonder if I watched that again, if it would suck now. I hope not I loved Jem.
btw, no one has menchioned Rose Petal either. Ya… I watched girly cartoons. I am a girl. :P
-
Blob: NOBODY MOVES THE BLOB!
Nightcrawler: And I wouldn't dream of trying to. Aufweidersein. bamf
Blob: Where go?Haha….I don't think I saw that, but I should watch this. XD
Yes, I watched Freakazoid and Earthworm Jim. I miss both those shows. I think Freakazoid comes on somewhere, but I don't know when or where if it does.
Did anyone ever see that old movie "Gay Purr-ee"? It was an animated movie from WB in the 60's, about the cat that wants to go to Paris, and her boyfriend cat chasing after her? It's beena long time since I"ve seen it, but it's cute. They used to show it once a year on local stations. Same with The Yellow Submarine, and The Amazing Mr. Limpet.
On an even more obscure note, did anyone ever see "Shinbone Alley"? I rented this a loooong time ago. It's a pretty unique animated movie, and more adult-themed then one would expect, although in a very tasteful way.
-
Oooo! Gay Purr-ee! I loved that movie! I remember watching it on Disney when they would occasionally play animated movies that weren't theirs.
I loved it for two reasons:
1. French cats. How can you not love French cats?
2. Judy Garland was the voice of Mewsette. This woman has one of the most amazing singing voices ever. -
Does anyone remember watching Little Nemo Adventures in Slumberland? I remember watching it before I knew what anime was. I loved it of coarse. What company made it. The animation style reminds me of Studio Gibli, but I've never seen it listed as one of their films.
-

It was a pretty good film, but that's almost a given when Chuck Jones has anything to do with an animated project.
I remember watching it on Disney when they would occasionally play animated movies that weren't theirs.
The Disney Channel sucks anymore compared to what it used to be. I especially miss Vault Disney where they used to go and dig obscure things out like Blackbeard's Ghost and Elfego Baca.

That used to pop up on Disney Channel a lot, but I don't know if I ever actually sat down and watched the entire film.
What company made it.
Shinsha or something like that. Same company that makes Sonic X.

Nemo was originally Winsor Mckay's creation. The only link ghibli has to it is that Miyazaki worked on preproduction (but then quit). Although I just recently saw a Clip of it and can see why it gets confused alot. I remeber seeing it when I was really young and getting frightened at the villain. x3 I also had the NES game too. I'm really depressed that my mom sold it.
Has anyone here seen Song of the South by Disney? =/
-
Has anyone here seen Song of the South by Disney? =/
Of course! I love that movie. I loved the soundtrack as a kid, too, I used to play the record all the time. Hasn't it been outlawed in the US or something for not being PC?
Edit:
Hehe, this is why I read TV's Bialy's journal, she posted these links to some old toons:Anyone remember
?
Or this short from old Nickelodeon? The Cat Came Back -

Anybody who's been on Splash Mountain should know it!
But seriously, I think I watched it waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in the day. You'd think they'd have put it on DVD by now. (then again they might think it too racist/prejudiced)
But I do love the song Zip-i-di-doo-da. I got to hear it sung in Japanese when I went to Tokyo Disney. shudder Some things just don't translate . . .
-
Of course! I love that movie. I loved the soundtrack as a kid, too, I used to play the record all the time. Hasn't it been outlawed in the US or something for not being PC? I don't think it's been banned, they're probably just afraid to do anything with it. I've never seen it before actually~
Edit:
Hehe, this is why I read TV's Bialy's journal, she posted these links to some old toons:Anyone remember
?"MY COOS COOS!" I've seen that movie kinda recently I think. o_O Maybe 2-3 years even~
Man, I LOVE youtube. There's alot of old stuff on there <3 Check this one out:
edit: OMG. I just found this one cartoon that I really liked as a kid! O__O Totally forgot all about it! Talk about a trip!
-
I just found one of the coolest show I watch as kids, Animaniacs. Here the theme song if anyone forgot about it. hehehe.
-
I have that tape!

I came to the thread solely for this. I remember you mentioned it before… Aussie Wolverine was definitely the greatest part of my life as a 5 year old.

Yay, inspector gadget! I haven't seen an episode in a long time.
edit: OMG. I just found this one cartoon that I really liked as a kid! O__O Totally forgot all about it! Talk about a trip!
Haha, the Wuzzles. I remember them. Before they ever existed, I always mixed animals together.
-
I just remember being really nuts over the Wuzzles theme song.
That's another thing. Is it just me or are cartoon theme songs really lacking in this day and age?
-
"Song of the South" was banned in the 1960's because Civil Rights activists saw it as a reinforcement of sterotypes, rather than a humbling representation of black culture. As a result, the only way to get "Song of the South" is through bootlegs; I was lucky enough to get a VHS transposed from a subtitlted (for songs) Japanese laserdisc. Haha!
-
It would be easier for me to name the cartoons I don't like. I'm a toon fanatic.
Short list of toons, I liked.
Speed Racer, SuperFriends, Fat Albert, Smurfs, Garfield, Gummi Bears, Robotech, The Disney Afternoon shows, Tiny Toons, Animaniacs, Pinky and the Brain, etc.
-
It's about time you found this thread, OP Man!
That's another thing. Is it just me or are cartoon theme songs really lacking in this day and age?
Yeah….not too many memorable themes these days. But I can break into a whole lot of older ones easy.

-
Tell me about it. I can seriously sit down at a table at the dining hall, just go "Duck Tales!" and everybody sings the f-ing themesong word perfect!
The only current cartoon themesong with the same sing-ablility is, sadly, Spongebob Squarepants. Like the cartoon or not, that's a catchy themesong!
-
Yeah, it is kind of catchy….although I hate it. :P
I think the new TMNT song is kind of catchy, but the old one is much, much better.
-
That's another thing. Is it just me or are cartoon theme songs really lacking in this day and age?
Dunno, I thought that the Teen Titans song was kinda catchy. The show wasn't that good, though.
-
Oh, I do like the TT themesong. And the show. But it kind of got old by the 3rd season.
-
I just found the most kick ass thing on youtube yesterday. I want to share with you guys, since I think you guys probley enjoy it. It's from a show probely most of us did watch when we were kids.
I hope you guys enjoy my find. -
Power Rangers? Never thought I'd hear that song again. That was one of the many shows I loved back then.
-
Yeah Power Rangers. I when I found the origanl season 2 opening with the Green Ranger, I thought of this theard, and I need to show this far. Now I kinda relived my childhood crush on Kimberly the Pink Ranger. And of course Lord Zedd was a bad ass until the parents complain about how evil he was, and tone him down a bit when he and Rita got married. But Lord Zedd still will be one of my most favorite villians from childhood beside Negaduck, The Shredder, Cobra Commander, and Nukus I think that was his name from the 2nd season of Beetleborgs.
-
I don't know if this has been mentioned yet or not, but Dog City. It was half cartoon and half puppets. It was another show I totally loved. The one episode that seems to be engraved into my brain was the one where the Gangsters kidnapp the mayor's secretary Miss Yopants. So what insued were stupid jokes of pants. "Gimme Yopants!" "I'm not giving you my pants!" "Not YOUR pants YOPANTS!" Ah, what I would give to watch that episode again.
-
I remember Dog City. I recall there was a one-shot special that aired years before the series came out that I have on tape.
-
It's about time you found this thread, OP Man!
Yeah, I was a little reluctant to post because like I said, there are like a thousand cartoons I've like over my lifetime.
I liked Dog City's last season. I loved Darkwing Duck especially the eps with NegaDuck and I can still sing the theme song word for word.
-
@OP:

Man aleast I'm not the only one who can sing the Darkwing Duck theme song, but I mostly sing ether the oringal TMNT, Darkwing Duck, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Power Rangers in Space, and Pinky and the Brain.
-
dont even get me started with MMPR. I was raised on that shit. I remember coming back home from kindergarten and seeing the first season on tv.
-
Hehe….I was in High School when MMPR came out. I always hated it personally.
