It's not Inoue's drawings only as I initially thought, but also of Yoshihiro Takeda, Yoshikazu Tomita, Hidenori Hanesaka, Yoichi Mitsui or Naoki Murakami.

So there was an advertisement for Movie 11 or whatever we're on now, in this week's JUMP, and if I'm looking at this right, it appears that Masayuki Sato is returning for this movie too. I certainly wouldn't say no to that.

Yeah, I was so happy when Digimon ended, but I heard he is currently working on Gundam. (I don't know which one, hopefully that ended as well)
That would be a good start for him in the arc, at least the ep will be interesting.
I couldn't help but picture him doing the
! Franky Transformation scene. I could almost feel that Toei won't let this scene go without making it flashy, would help the pacing as well. Toei have a thing for transformations.
So far, the animators that will most likely continue working on the arc or in other words the main animators of the arc are:
Kenji Kuroyanagi (Currently, One of the main One Piece animators and one of the best, please do the fight in 549!)
Yukihiro Urata (Inspired by Tate, this guy have really improved a lot, did some outstanding scenes recently)
Naoki Tate (The King is back, but for how long? Hopefully the Toriko ep was just a warming up ep before the Epicness)
Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru (Veteran animator, will most likely do some important parts of the finale)
Masahiro Kitazaki (I think this guy is responsible for some few great scenes, still confirming)
Shuichi Ito (Not really a special animator but they let him handle some important scenes, he is good when he gets time)
Animators that might join to help with a scene or two:
Yoshikazu Tomita (Flashy scenes and glistening skin, anyone?)
Naotoshi Shida (A fan favorite, nuff said)
Naohiro Shintani(Another animator inspired by Tate, A really great animator)
Yuki Hayashi (If you don't know who she is, then stop reading & go find her works, she is currently one of the best animators around, style fits Luffy's attacks perfectly)
Ken Ootsuka (Small chance he will work again on OP, His specialty is swords and Mecha action)
Kenichi Fujisawa (I heard he got busy with a project recently, so unless he works with Nakatani again, I doubt we will see him)
I'm hoping for some special episode directors, cause if they have good connections, they usually hire special animators to do the main parts of their episodes. Like Takashi Otsuka(521), he brought with him Kenji Kuroyanagi, Ken Ootsuka and Yuki Hayashi for his episode.
I'm expecting a lot of talent for this arc, I hope Toei will do justice for most of the special attacks. While I don't think everything will look great, I just hope Toei will surprise us.
I'll be away on a vacation for more than a month around when the action starts, so I'll be missing a lot, but it would ease the pain of waiting weekly for the next episode to come. I won't join the episode discussions, but I will keep my eye on this thread for reactions on the upcoming episodes.

Well, it's not the same case. Tate have been working on the show for years, he was one of the main animators on the show. I know that he worked on other stuff as well during the same peroid, but whenever he did he still worked on One Piece.
Tanaka is a freelancer so you will find him everywhere. Shida is one of the main Toei animators, so they let him work on the important stuff on all of their shows.
What I'm trying to say is, I hope he doesn't stay on Toriko while the action is about to start soon, it will be disappointing, IMO. Especially since Tate improved his style to new awesome levels.

553 should be good, the Series Director with the character designer usually bring out great episodes. Hopefully we get Shida, but most probably it will Nakatsuru who might work in the ep.
I hope the fights have actual choreography to them, something that the manga largely failed at.
Nakatsuru is good, but a bit strange maybe the style, but I hope they not fuck up episode 554 and I don't need to worry about Luffy appears.
I honestly hope they decide to 1.5 chapter pace the climax of the fights at least. Padding out action scenes is horrible to see, and I don't want to see another repeat of Marineford's horrible padding.

why anyone is worried about deguchi making episode 554? there are a lot of epic scenes in that episode and is one of my favorites (luffy's amazing haki and gear third) i really hope they make that well, i cant understand why they waste izhisuka and shingaki in this lame episodes and i really don't know in witch way toei make this kind of decisions like hey let's use the amazing ishizuka in this average episode but call deguchi to animate luffy defeating 50000 men with haki.
Pretty much because Deguchi is the weakest animation director on the team. Historically, he's been proven to be more suited for simple talking heads episode than more climactic, actiony stuff. But unlike his last episode, I'm sure he'll have more than two or three key animators with him this time, so hopefully his episode will be a competent one.
Though considering how the rotation has been, I do kinda wish that the better animation directors were spread out more instead of bunched together. Yeah, it is cool to get Kawamura, Ishizuka, Shingaki, Nakatani, etc. back-to-back-to-back, but then we have to do the same with Takagi, Deguchi, Shimanuki, etc., sometimes right when the material qualifies for higher-quality stuff.
Perhaps if One Piece had a better series director….:ermm:

@vic1337, that's what I though as well. But if you read the chapter again, you will find that it was mostly event less, and had 70% talking only. There are 2 scenes worth good animation, So hopefully at least one special animator will appear. Remember the important ep in Marineford war that Deguchi did (482), he had Urata(Akainu Vs. Ace) , Nakatani(Some random scenes here and there), and Naohiro(Ace and Whitebeard scene). So, for the main stuff it looked great.

If you look at it from Toei's point of view,
Ishizuka's ep = Introduced the Main villain of the arc
Shingaki = They find some revelations like this important
Hisada = We all know why It's important.
Deguchi = Nothing happens, other than the end.
Kawamura = Action kicking off
So, Toei handles important revelations better than action, it's been like this since the beginning.

As long as THAT part of Chapter 634 is animated good, I could care less if the animation is a little sloppy during the rest.
That would be fine with most, but I wonder if THAT part really deserves to look gorgeous.

The animation of the last 30 episodes is really bad.I don't know if it's just me,but I find the animation and the art style really blunt and without any beuty,unlike the episodes of e.g. Enies Lobby or Thriller Bark.Also the transfer from paper to the screen in the last episodes seem like it didn't work all that well..Still,maybe it's my idea..

Hm, I'd give Takagi a **1/2 (out of *****), Yokoyama the same, and originally Shimanuki was a three-starer, but after his recent performances I may have to bump him down a bit.

I wouldn't be surprised if you're right. I can't really prove that I was reading a credible source either.
I don't think a rough estimate like this is too outlandish. It's pretty common to see recycled mouth flaps on static characters and low frame rates cleverly manipulated.

Because Toei has a bad track record as of late making the most out of the given content, stuff is stretched out the wazoo, and stretchy-filler seems to be preferred by them over not doing anything for a week or two?
