I keep telling you to stop asking, and you keep asking. Stop asking. Thank you for riding with Jackskellinghog transit, the exit is to your right.
P.S. I'm illegally legally buying digital volumes :ninja:
I mean, your GIVING them your money… I don't see the problem here :)
About to buy Volumes 12 and 13, because I love Logue Town!

I'm suffering through the Kuro arc in my attempt to reread one piece And get used to viz releases.
This pirate speak is just sad… But the quality is great.

Yeah you've just got to look through it I guess, I've got a Youtube show in the making and I'm going to review a few of the digital volumes. I'll keep you up to date with when it'll come out etc.
I know this question is sorta late and all, but after reading sj's Facebook and stuff ppl are actually disappointed at the print ending. My question to you all is do you care for the ending of the print shonen jump issues? Bare in mind this question is coming from someone who only bought 1 issue a while ago…
There are so many reasons for my curiosity, One being the print volumes are not ending.

As I had to import them when I wanted them or had to go to a specialist shop and pay 5-6 dollars more than I should I steered away from collecting them, but currently have 8 different copies of American Shonen Jump and 1 Japanese Shonen Jump

I'm fine with it ending, in fact I wouldn't have subscribed to Shonen Jump if it wasn't for this Alpha deal.

I can't help but feel like It was really sub par as a print magazine but as a digital magazine it will have a lot more potential.

I only had a Shonen Jump subscription a few times, and when I had it I really only read One Piece and Yu-gi-Oh!, and Dragon Ball, and Yu Yu Hakusho when those were a part of it (man, I feel old) and Naruto when I still read that. Eventually, I really only got issues for the Yu-Gi-Oh! cards and whatever extras were there (like the recent bounty stickers). Out of the two years I only bought the issues with Luffy on them. However, Alpha has renewed my interest, and I may pick up a subscription this week. I don't like digital media, but as long as the volumes are still printed I don't care. Alpha seems like a great service and hopefully Viz will add in other series like Hunter x Hunter in the near future.
Also, the magazine now isn't what it used it be. It used to have tons (well, at least much more) of color pages, better paper, and much more content. I would say these are many of the reasons why the publication is ceasing. Alpha seems like a great idea and one I can support.
I am a little upset at the print edition ending, but at the same time I somehow knew it would. When Shonen Jump was at it's prime it had columbs like "Jump Shot", where they answered fan mail, art galleries, Brain Benders, Nihongo Lessons, and so much more cool stuff to add on to the awesome manga printed in it as well. But as soon as they kept getting rid of all those things (minus the manga, though as to be expected some series were omitted from the magazine) I had a feeling it was because of popularity decrease, and that it would eventually keep weening down until it was non-existent.
I am sad to see it go, and I hope they add some stuff like that to Alpha. But it was the right move and I feel it will increase in popularity, especially since online piracy is being cracked down on harder, and the fact that they're now only two weeks behind Japan doesn't hurt either ^^
Yep, I have too agree there Sam Wise. It'd be idiotic to say since SJ rebooted them selves with the blue logo that SJ was cutting budget.

Let's all go down to the SJ ALPHA and get ourselves some chapters
Wait, what? I hadn't heard that the magazine was finishing. Damn shame.
…the regular book releases aren't going anywhere though right?

Well, the print edition is at least ending, but we'll be getting a digital version.

Same here. It was a choice of staying woefully behind with an ever shrinking book and an ever-growing price, and this digital version. I saw no contest.
LOOK WHO'S A NINJA LEGEND NOW
If not for the interview, you'll want to read this for the impressions and tidbits of what to expect in upcoming issues. ;)
So I just pre-ordered last night and paid. It's acting as if I never did and I can't access the issue. Is anybody else dealing with this?
Yeah same here, I paid for it earlier this month. It seems this is happening with others as well. Going to contact VIZ and see whats up. I suppose it should appear in my manga very soon.
Man I want to read it now!
Man I want to read it now!
I understand very well. I haven't read the last three chapters at all. I stopped scanlations entirely so I could keep up with it legally, and this is what happens. My luck.
Oh well, if it's a widespread issue than it most likely isn't something for me to be worried about on an individual level. I'd imagine it will get worked out pretty quickly.
SJ's Twitter is answering as if it isn't ready yet, so perhaps that's the issue.
It's not up yet! I was having that problem to and was going to go crazy! Hopefully it will be up soon! I've been away from One Piece for too long!
Hm, sjalpha.com is working fine for me, and I gotta say what a nice layout!
EDIT: Hm, it only seems to work if yo only type in sjalpha.com, as opposed to www.sjalpha.com

It doesn't work for me on Firefox (my default browser of choice), but it does on Internet Explorer.
However, I still can't access the magazine. SJ's Twitter now acknowledges that those of us who pre-ordered will have to wait a few minutes, so I'll take their word.
Okay, it says it's up, but it's trying to make me pay for it even thoughI have a subscription. Anyone else having this problem?

It looks like everyone is having that problem if you look at the comments on the page. According to their twitter, Viz is aware of the problem and trying to fix it.

Okay! Thank you very much! Can't wait!!!!
comon viz get ur shit together before i go back to scans -.-
seriously 2 months to set this up and u cant figure out the issues BEFOREHAND
Calm down bro, these sort of things happen. Hell, Call of Duty Elite still doesn't work that well.
Meh, works just fine for me.
It seems like only those that pre-ordered can't get access. From what I understand those that were already subscribed to Shonen Jump magazine have access.

I subscribed and pre-ordered and still have no access.
They say on their Twitter that most who pre-ordered should be sorted out.
So I'm now in the minority. (and other members here as well.) -_-
And I'm getting worried that I may have to wait a long time as I've had issues with the site before. For one VIZManga took forever to work for me. Initially I only got redirected to the page describing VIZManga. And now the SJAlpha site does that same thing.

Oh, I see. The Toriko-One Piece crossover will be in the March issue.

…That's probably the problem, why would you pre order if you already have free months of membership?

Like, for Christmas my mom got me a print subscription and I converted it to a digital one.
FInally working for me
It is now taking forever to load for me. =(
Hopefully that means they're fixing it.
EDIT: It did, but still loading slowly! But at least now it says "Read" instead of "Subscribe"!
This is good news! Any idea on how to find it on the iPhone app?
been looking at the Alpha forums and so far it seems like the majority of the posters say One Piece is their favorite shonen jump manga. Lets hope this continues
I still cannot access it. This is really annoying.
I was able to get on! I just read One Piece and Naruto. I love the translations, the scans were much cleaner than the fanslated Mangastream ones. When I first got on it was kind of laggy and I needed to refresh, but after that everything worked pretty well! Only thing was that after zooming a bit, I couldn't always shift the page around by holding the left button on the mouse and moving it, I needed to try it a couple of times sometimes to get it to move.
Overall, despite the issue with getting the pre-order people on it, it's everything I hoped for!
Good chapter, good format, I was lucky enough to see that it didn't load at all, the pages came up right away!
This week was good! Smoker! And for those of you who read Toriko, you've gotta check out Komatsu's muscles! So funny! Bakuman was very heartworming, and I hope that Reversi gets picked for the anime adaption over Zombie Gun, even though I like Nizuma a lot. And since Kubo took a much needed sleep-cation (which he confirmed on twitter) I had already read this week's Bleach.
The interview with Kishimoto at the end was very enlightening on his choices as a manga artist. Good stuff! Can't wait for next week! And the next week… and the next week... and the next...
In regards to Kishi's interview, I'm personally of the opinion that some lines were complete PR bull. I find it hard to believe he still enjoys and wants to make Naruto when everything about the series has been in serious decline, including the art
My dad got me Color Walk 2 for my b-day! It's so awesome!!

[/h]the art declining can hardly be considered an opinion. Unless you know someone who likes amatuerish artwork like we get now?
Just because it's not that great doesn't necessarily mean Kishimoto doesn't enjoy the process.
