! Lol, it reminds me of Luffy's arm after one of Crocodile's attack.
What is really interesting is that
! After Nanika touches Gon's arm the 3 Zodiacs on stage sense some source of "power" but it isn't Nanika's. Hmmmmm, I think a new entity has just entered the fray.
! They could be sensing adult Gon's nen if he's recovering.
! Damn, if that's the arm that didn't get cut off I can only imagine how bad the other one must be (if it was even reattached :( )

Translation
! Pariston says that to be the leader of Hunters requires strength and experience, and he feels Ox is most qualfiied.
! Pariston says he will rescue Gon when the election is over.
! Ox says from his instinct Pariston is someone from the 'world of darkness', even though he has no proof and they must defeat him in this election.
! Final vote breakdown:
! Leorio 282 (44.4%)
Pariston 250
Ox 58
Chidol 16
! So now we're down to two candidates.
! Note: if Ox's guys voted for Leorio that would've been enough for 50%.
! Gin falls asleep during the election.
! Pariston asks Leorio what will he do if he becomes the chairman.
! Nanika touches Gon and screams.
! Ilumi, watching from afar, laughs and says this power will be his.
! Gon's arm looks like Netero when he used that really powerful move against Meruem. Leorio better beat Pariston in the election, I hate him.
! god, this is getting more intense. i hope LEOnardo dicapRIO wins
oh man, that picture is really intense ….......
oh man, that picture is really intense ….......
Well look who came crawling out of the woodworks again :P
The entire RAW is on mangahead.
! What, what, what, lol @ that Face Illumi made, this guy is psycho, maybe even worse than Hisoka.
[hide][/hide]
! Shit, Illumi looks so fucking crazy. I am now officially more scared of him than Hisoka. Never thought that'd happen.
Illumi has always teetered/tottered in and out of my fav character spot.
I've been thinking about how could Killua makes the next "wish" the last. Is this the side effect of doing two constructive wishes in a row? Or the level of Gon's damage would probably put Alluka in a permanent coma. I really wish to know.

! But is it right after? I interpreted that as them feeling something change in Pariston, especially since it came after the results were in. Then we had a page of a semi-stare down between Ging and Pariston–with Ging kind of ignoring him. Pariston's probably the only one with a clue about how much Ging has really been manipulating the election.
! Dangit, I really don't trust Pariston. He's making me nervous.

Actually, it would probably put Nanika in a coma, and Alluka would be the concious one. Alluka can't grant wishes. That's what's been hinted at, anyway.
I declare this week's chapter, out!
Omg! Okay it needs to be next week soon lol. Damn you cliffhangers.
Creepy hand there…hahaha.
The chapter was good, i guess next chapter Leorio is going to say something he shouldnt ,dont see what could be thought.
Pariston's got it in the bag, Leorio is going to lose momentum because he's going to overthink Pariston's question.
Just like in Rock Paper Scissors.
Pariston probably understands Gon has been healed now, and Leorio won't stand a chance now. Illumi's finally going to get the "screen" time he deserves.
Cheadle is such a fucking dumb bitch (pun intended).
Well, you have to remember that people started voting for Leorio because of the type of person they saw he was rather than just simply because they all wanted to help Gon out. Alot of his supporters could do that even without Leorio becoming Chairman which is the reason that Leorio just decided to take advantage of his spotlight to reach out to any hunter that could help him. Leorio himself probably only has the sole motivation of becoming chairman at the moment to do whatever is possible to heal gon at the moment though. He has no actual intention of really wanting to become chairman. If Pariston ends up convincing Leorio to not become chairman though such as telling him Gon is healed, then all of the votes could sway to Pariston though.
Next week: first NW OP chapter, and conclusion of this amazing arc. I just can't wait! :D
Oh man, this is heating up fast. So Pariston's muddling the votes without resorting to withdrawing his own. It's amazing how tight of a grip he has over his own voters. I am incredibly interested in what will happen next. It's hard not to reach a clear majority in a one on one battle, and I'm not entirely sure where Pariston is going with this. The shift to Leorio did make him lose his composure a bit, though, so clearly there must be some flaw to his plan. Maybe it's Leorio's personality that will do it. It's a battle between a master manipulator and an unknown quantity.
Also, Gon's hand…

The only way he could've possibly known that, is if that's who Illumi texted last chapter.
I'm pretty sure at least one member of the Zoldyck family isn't going to make it through this arc. But who? Who!?
The only way he could've possibly known that, is if that's who Illumi texted last chapter.
That's an interesting possibility, especially considering the chapter started on the note of cell phones.
I'm hoping Leorio gets a bit self-depricating and mentions how he has no experience compared to any of the other candidates. That might make Pariston shit his pants, haha. Pariston may not be thinking about winning, but neither is Leorio.
Man, this was a great chapter. Gon's creepy hand and one of the best cliffhangers I've seen in a while (next week can't come soon enouhg).
That being said, anyone else notice the art was a bit sketchy this week?

I thought so too. It was mostly still pretty good, everyone's reactions to Gon being healed seemed a bit off though.
God, this chapter was great. Next week is going to be crazy for this and One Piece, but especially HxH. I can't help but feel that either Pariston will win, or no one will. No justification for it though…
I hope Leorio Punches Pariston next chapter. Hell, i hope Leorio punches Everyone.
Man, page 18 may have had the scariest Pariston panel yet. Such a calm smile. Whatever he is doing is working, and seemingly well. I can't wait for him to show us what he is truly capable of. Also, Gon's hand.
@Oga:
Shit, Illumi looks so fucking crazy. I am now officially more scared of him than Hisoka. Never thought that'd happen.
I'm not quite sure how I feel about that. Illumi seems to be the type of villain with a master plan and a goal. He wants power of some sort and he has the background of an assassin. Hisoka is a complete unknown at least in background. I think Illumi is more dangerous in relation to the entire world, but Hisoka is much crazier and unpredictable.

I agree. Illumi does seems like the kind of guy who, if he wants something, he'll do anything to get it. In this case, Alluka. I find him scarier due to the fact that he's kinda like Pariston in that you just don't know what lies behind that blank, emotionless face of his.
Hisoka on the other just wants to experience the thrill of battle and to fight strong opponents, so if you don't intertest him and don't get in his way, you don't have too much to worry about. But who knows, maybe Hisoka is much more aware of current events and has more of an involvment in them than we think.
I want to see Pariston's killing aura, just like when Illumi and Hisoka showed theirs.
I am so happy to get caught back up with this. Great arc so far.
only just started reading HxH recently so this was my first new chapter and I've got to say that i really enjoyed it (i'm really enjoying HxH in general although I can't help but notice the parrallels with Naruto at times but considering that this came first I'm not gonna hold that against it per se)
Really liked this chapter and this arc in general, I really like the great variety of villainous characters that seem to be in the background waiting to make there move like Hisoka, llumi (or the Zoldyck family in general) and of course Pariston. I'm also really enjoying the relationship between Gon and Killua I really like how genuine it feels and I really believe that both of them really care about each other (Killuas reaction to Gon's hand being completely devoid of life was fantastic).
so to sum up, great chapter and a great series! cant wait till next week!
I can't help but notice the parrallels with Naruto at times but considering that this came first I'm not gonna hold that against it per se)
Why would you even think about holding it against HxH and not Naruto?
Can a Japanese speaker confirm that there is a mistranslation on page 4?
When Pariston says: "Candidate Cheadle has strength!!! and Candidate Leorio has experience!!"
I think he should say "lacks", not "has".
Page 18 seems to be suggesting that Pariston knows Gon was healed. He's watching Ging's shocked expression, and then as Ging breathes, what looks like, a sigh of relief. His smirk afterwards is him understanding Gon has been healed.
The only question if if telling Leorio Gon is healed will be enough to get him the win. Depends on what Leorio does I guess.
I'm hoping Leorio gets a bit self-depricating and mentions how he has no experience compared to any of the other candidates. That might make Pariston shit his pants, haha. Pariston may not be thinking about winning, but neither is Leorio.
Actually, Pariston said that Leorio lacks experience. That was a mistranslation on page 4 (3 in the raw)
.

Yep, that's lacks.

"Cheadle lacks strength, Leorio lacks experience, and I lack all three!" is the correct translation.
Superfluous translation explanation:
[hide]Literally, it's saying "In regards to Cheadle, strength; in regards to Leorio, experience; in regards to me, all three are not satisfied!" Translator didn't catch that there are 3 separate sentences, but the verb is omitted in the first 2, and you have to see the parallel structure to realize that the 3rd sentence's verb applies to the first 2. It's not grammatically correct; it's a rhetorical device. In other words, Pariston is a really good speaker, as a lot of shady politicians are irl. This works because Japanese because the most important stuff in a Japanese sentence comes at the end.[/hide]
Man.
Pariston and Illumi are working together.
Holy shit.
That panel with Gon's hand.
Holy shit.
Holy shit.
Yeah, you got it klet. It shoul be like you said.
I didn't see anything about Illumi and Pariston being connected here. But there's a good chance Gon being healed will turn the tables.
I do think though, that Kurapika will show up in the nick of time and change everything, though.

It might not be the case, but from his smile I got the feeling that Pariston knew that Gon had just been healed. How would he know?
And Illumi has been playing at a larger game this entire arc, so my thought is Pariston, this equally shady character, might have been informed about Gon's recovery by Illumi.
A lot of Leorio's votes are because he wants to heal Gon - but if it's revealed right here and now that Gon is perfectly fine, on what basis would Leorio be elected? Those votes might disappear.
Teradain's Anti-Chairman faction who posed a potential threat to Pariston were all wiped out by Hisoka and Illumi as well.
It feels like Pariston might have a hand in it all.
Of course, I may be way off base.
Pariston and Ilumi are scaaary  no wait I mean
He might not necessarily know that Gon's been healed (I got that vibe too, though). He could be using this opportunity to point out Leorio's short-mindedness (for example, by asking what Leorio would do with his position once Gon's been healed) and make himself look better in the process.
(Still not caught up on the series, btw, but I'm liking what I've read so far)
Or Pariston can incite Leorio to abandon the election by mentioning something happened in the hospital.
The main thing that can be taken advantage at this rate I think is the simple fact that beyond healing Gon, Leorio really doesn't want to become chairman at the moment. If it's somehow revealed that Gon's healed, Leorio has absolutely no reason to become chairman since the sole motivation to become chairman is to take advantage of the position to help Gon. The main reason people have been voting for him as well as like him isn't because he's going to heal Gon using the position as much as it is that he's the type of person that would use his position to do that. It speaks well of his character. Politcal-wise, everyone already knows where people like Pariston and Cheadle stood which is part of the reason why they were so high up in the beginning. That's why I feel the smartest move at the moment would simply be to convince Leorio that he has no other reason to become chairman and get him to give all the votes to Pariston.
I think Pariston was able to put two and two together with the big surge of nen and Gon's condition. All he needs for evidence would be to get someone to take a picture of Gon healed now, and show it to everyone.
It might not be the case, but from his smile I got the feeling that Pariston knew that Gon had just been healed. How would he know?
Well, right after Alluka begins healing Gon, we see reaction shots of all the Hunters in the hospital. If you recall, the conditions of Gon being healed forced them to stay outside Morau's Nen Space, so they have to be nearby. The hospital is near the Hunter HQ, so I would be surprised if the immense amount of Nen being released to heal Gon is easily detected. I got the feeling from the reaction shots that Cheadle and Manaistrom (Ox, whatever) felt it too. Leorio… not so much.
