He's also got a lot of endurance and will power. Most people couldn't handle their arms being cut off or having all their fingers broken with such ease lol.

You said he wasn't, just corrected that statement. He is indeed strong and you can't deny him that.
As for strong or not, you don't particularly have to be strong to slice people apart with razor sharp playing cards statement, strength is not measured only in those terms, intelligence and agility are part of strength as well. Just clarifying this with you, you seem to have a shallow perception of strength.
No, I just thought you were referring to physical strength. I'm well aware of the difference between a person's strengths versus his strength.
-
Edit: Biscuit "Being a good little boy wont work all the time! The ant incident is a perfect example of that. Don't forget!"
I'm wondering if that was targeted at Netero, Gon, or Paris Hilton.
IMO she was probably aiming her words at the general voters, reminding them that it took a crazy chairman like Netero to handle extremely difficult matters such as the ant crisis, so that they won't vote for Pariston just because he looks good.
-
Looks like Hisoka may be right behind him too. (going by what Hisoka said in that panel, "nope, just one")
R.I.P Lupe and Teradin.
lol Hisoka has absolutely no reason to be there or to kill them, so no.
It seems the hunters Teradain sent out to help Killua out have, in fact, backfired and actually helped Illumi find out where he is…
whoops! -
I wonder if anybody from the group Netero used to in is still alive.
-
@Fire Fist:
No, I just thought you were referring to physical strength. I'm well aware of the difference between a person's strengths versus his strength.
Even if that were the case, in terms of physical strength he is still above them. In totality, he is still stronger than all of those fodder hunters.
-
Hunters taking these maps with them that was so dumb you'd think they would be more capable… but well I think this had to happen to have killua and illumi face each other off.
-
Who was Pariston talking to? Lupe?
Anyways, kinda good chapter. Not as good as the last ones, but good. Lol at Bison's performance. 2 half-chapters and dies off-panel. 10/10 for him.
-
Chapter was fun. The plot progresses, and not only on Killua but on this political game too. I wonder when Leorio, amusing how he is still in top, will be approached by Teradain or someone else.
Just imagine if Gon will stay as Gon-san and will come to vote too. The scene will be awesome. It won't happen like that, but it's still awesome to think about. -
lol Hisoka has absolutely no reason to be there or to kill them, so no.

whoops!lol, I just said that because it kind of looked like Hisoka was responding to Teradin's question. Guess his still somewhere in the forest though.
-
I think Hisoka responding to that statement was just a joke.
And I get what everyone is saying about strength, but I was talking about Nen.
I don't see how it wasn't likely for anyone of those hunters to have an ability that wouldn't completely hinder Hisoka in some crazy way, such a crazy way that the other fighters would have to be retarded to lose.
For example, it doesn't matter how fast or skillfull Hisoka was, I don't see anyway possible for Hisoka to be able to defeat the Dart throwing ant's ability.
But this is manga we're talking about, where lack of common sense is the staple for most characters.
-
Because the author did not see it fitting to make one.
That would have been just trouble for Togashi to show impressive nen skills on fodder characters. A waste of panel space imo.
Besides, why would you want to divert the focus of the story on side fights between Hisoka and random majorly unknown characters who would end up dying anyways. :S
And if ever Togashi would go into that route, Hisoka would likely not fight all of them head on. By his nature of being deceitful and resourceful, he could just finish all of them one by one, not even giving anyone a chance to demonstrate their skills unless he finds one of them worthy to play with, only then would you get your coveted amazing skills fight,
-
I have hope that Bushidora faced Illumi and is now a neddle human.
-
A bit weaker chapter.
I might have misunderstood something, but how didn't Killua notice two giant needles sticking out of his driver's head?
-

I assume he got into the backseat while the driver was looking forward.
-
Killua knows that it is Illumi he is facing. He asked Morau for help precisely because of the needle control. You'd think that first thing he does - to check everyone he meets right now before blindly trusting them.
-
Killua was too enthused about having gotten away… and being minutes away from Gon... having for the moment won in general... that he let his guard down.
-
@RobbyBevard:

Agreed, he had a lot running through his mind. He also thought the driver was no where near his brother. Killuua made a error through.
-
Should've killed the driver and drove the car himself if he had remained sharp.
-
@Zik:
Should've killed the driver and drove the car himself if he had remained sharp.
That's most likely what's going to happen in the next chapter.
-
Couldn't he pull them out, or has there been some explanation that's said that they can't be removed?
-
@Oga:
Couldn't he pull them out, or has there been some explanation that's said that they can't be removed?
Killua's pulled it out once he became aware which is probably easier said than done. He knew about his brother's ability, however these are strangers who never met Illumi, so they mentally believe it's their normal course of action probably.
It took Killua a while to realize that it was the pin's influence on him, and not a taught assassin tactic.
Illumi also pulled his pins out of himself and reversed his process, so I think they they can.
-
@Oga:
Couldn't he pull them out, or has there been some explanation that's said that they can't be removed?
I'd assume regular humans would just pass out especially with no nen training.
-
It could probably severely damage the person's psyche or mind if they're forcefully removed without the proper willpower or some other treatment first. If I had to take a guess, any survivors'll probably end up being treated by that female doctor in the elections after this is over.
Killua was too enthused about having gotten away… and being minutes away from Gon... having for the moment won in general... that he let his guard down.
That makes sense since the entire reason Illumi didn't ambush him at the hospital was because Killua would have his guard up in that situation.
-
The female doctor is a virus expert, this is a nen curse, the nen remover that tried to cure gon would be more useful.
-

Is it even a nen curse? Killua took the pin out with his bare hands.
-

Ah. My mistake then. Now she scares me a little.
-
If it's materialization then a Nen remover might work, but Killua did pull out a physical pin so materialization is doubtful, unless Illumi's nen is so great the pin can be materialized indefinitely.
If it's manipulation, I don't really know.
If it's some kind of material art/ brain surgery thingy that's not related to Nen, you won't be needing the Nen remover.
I really doubt reinforcement. -
I was under the impression that Illumi puts some of his Nen into the needle and then sticks it in them. The Nen infused needle then acts like a reciever/transmitter, allowing Illumi to control them. That's why Killua was just able to pull out the needle and get rid of the effect. The needle by itself is just a needle.
-
You guys know that advanced nen users make use of more than their most attuned nen type.
Illumi has multiple kinds of needles. The one that stuck the driver this time is certainly one made with materilization and was hidden with in (at least that's the only thing that makes sense to me). -
Sorry, I worded that a bit weird. I was meaning to ask if Killua himself could pull out the needles, but as you guys have said, maybe even he can't. Illumi's needles may be made out of pure nen or something or it could kill the guy if they're removed, just need to wait 'til next wednesday-ish I suppose.
-

I'm fairly sure he can, didn't he pull out his own? Although that needle may have been slightly different as Killua was wasn't zombie-esque like some of the controlled people.
-

Yep exactly, Killua was obviously in control when he had the needle in him, apart from the running away from strong people part, and it didn't do him any harm when he finally pulled it out. Illumi can probably control how much influence he has over whoever he sticks the needle in too.
-

I see, thanks for correcting me. Didn't look carefully enough.
-
But Killua's one was hidden? Unless I have somehow managed to read the first 200 or so chapters without noticing a sphere in Killua's forehead.
-
No one of you saw "kiss of the dragon" with Jet Li? Well I think Illumi's needles uses the same principle. accupuncture, pressure points and all that stuff, accentuated thanks to nen. Just like how nen accentuated Kalluto's paper powers.
Now these needles right now are special because they also work as transmitters, so that he can order the puppet-people around. That's my idea on Illumi's power.
-

It was in his brain
-
And hidden by hair and the size of a bobby pin. And I think some nen dumbed down the feeling of it.

I really doubt reinforcement.I would catagorise Illumi as a manipulator doesn't mean that he can't do other things but it seems like manipulation is probably his strongest nen compatibility.

It seems next week we'll see gon's flahsback from his island which was skipped, doesn't it?. -
That would be a HORRIBLE place to put in his first meeting with Kaito. Assuming that is what they are doing.
Gon's first meeting with Kaito should come shortly after Gon and Killua see Kaito mistaking him for Ging right after Greed Island. it will make the most sense in
a story aspect. -

I can see why since it's what gave Gon his driving force in order to become a hunter but it would work for the introduction to Kaito especially considering that Kaito isn't even part of the story again until the chimera ant arc.

How does that make the most sense? His meeting with Kaito doesn't relate to his progress during the ant arc.
Kaito is part of gons past and the memories regarding him are relevant to his reason to become a hunter, so if anything he has to be introduced during the hunter exam. And really how is it weird that gon has to think about him when he is in the middle of becoming a hunter? You also can't omit this flashback since after the last test the license he obtains from kaito becomes a plotpoint with satotsu. We are at the start of the series (in the anime) this is the right place to properly introduce who these characters are (from a story telling point of view).
-
Imo the best way to introduce the flashback at this point is when Gon is fighting Hanzo, the moment Hanzo puts his Assassin's creed sword on gon's forehead and asks him why.
-
It has to be introduced in the hunter exam because of this

Good episode this week, though I hope I'm not the only one who ended up thinking "get on with it" after the, at least, 10 minutes of watching the protagonists sleeping, reading and watching TV. Not much to say about this week. No controversial scenes. Only thing that irks me is the fact that we're half way through the examination and Madhouse is deciding to give up a recap episode next week. Hopefully this is where they include the Kite scenes (a man can dream can't he) but really there isn't really that much plot in the exam arc to warrant a 24 minute recap in my opinion.
P.S: If anybody screen printed the eye catcher showing how to spell "bored" in Hunternese (Hey I just coined a phrase!) it would accurately sum up the first half of this episode.
-

Pretty sure that's the point.
-
What I don't see is why Madhouse used half an episode of filler and what seems to be a recap episode next week when they skipped cannon material i.e the sushi exam.
