after seeing the total awesomeness of this chapter, I really cannot see why alot of anime fans dog One Piece. I am crying tears of blood at how great this chapter is. In fact, this could be a whole tunring point for the entire series. I expect bigger and better things to come. For all the people that think this sagas too long, there is a reason.
Jonas is threatening to ban me if I don't elaborate on why this was my favorite chapter in the entire series - he's a real tyrant, that guy.
This chapter illustrated everything I love about the series and gave me new insights in to the character of people who I've been curious about for some time now. While others have claimed emotional responses to earlier instances with Robin, this is seriously the only chapter that strummed any of my heartstrings with her regards (certainly Usopp's fight with luffy did as well in this volume).
I'm a fan of brevity - and I elaborate here out of fear for my membership, as I said - and this chapter really gives it to me. I need to re-read the chapter real fast, gimme a minute.

Thanks for waiting. I just needed to reabsorb it, it's that good. On page eight, there is what I consider to be the best panel of the entire series. It's a very small panel and all it shows is Robin riding her raft on the path Ao Kiji set, into the horizon. You'll notice that down the path, there are a bunch of clouds and he shaded it's dark looking, rainy, even. She's headed towards the inferno.
I really like that panel. MOVING ON!
Page sixteen, the panel with chopper, I just like how he's transformed. He's back to how he was near the end of drum, in fact, he's a lot fiercer. I like how Oda pulled off showing the facial expressions on all the strawhats about to fight, but page eighteen also makes me ask a serious question.
Why didn't Oda include Sogeking on that page? he included literally everyone else who was about to do the fighting. He includes him in the other pages, but I just found that interesting, especially since he's actually right next to Luffy.
I'm done elaborating YOU JUST TRY TO BAN ME TYRANT JONAS!!!
Majek I meant page sixteen, I just edited it.
And who's on the panel next to Choppa? Phantom of the Opera trembling with excitement ?
Octogon, I agree that it does play a significant role. They 'are' strong though, and will be much stronger after this arc is over. We 'know' Luffy is much stronger, he completly outclassed Blueno who is a member of CP9 and is considered "superhuman." Not only that, it wasn't quite the extent of his power, he had something else up his sleeve, he just didn't need it to win that fight.
In the world government's eyes the strawhats do have what the firepower to be their greatest threat. The world government will be scared shitless that the strawhats are going to try and ressurect the ancient weapons. That's what a normal pirate crew who declared war on the world government and had access to them would do, isn't it?
"Oh shit, we declared war on 170 countries and people like ao kiji etc, we have access to the ultimate weapons though, let's use them."
Strawhats won't do that, but the world government doesn't know that, and we already know they like to take every possible precaution. If just studying about the ancient history is a important enough to the wg for them to eliminate an entire island of civilians, knowing certainly where the ancient weapons are, and even how to build them must be slightly larger in scope, especially if said people who know how to obtain/build the weapons are flatly in allegiance with a man who has declared war on the world government.
Why didn't Oda include Sogeking on that page? he included literally everyone else who was about to do the fighting. He includes him in the other pages, but I just found that interesting, especially since he's actually right next to Luffy.

If you mean page 16, I don't think there's any deep motive to excluding Sogeking. I think Oda just ran out of space for drawing Usopp's panel. I could be wrong though.
the fights starting….I'm very amused
And who's on the panel next to Choppa? Phantom of the Opera trembling with excitement ?
Sogeking.
Oh by the way, the WG need to create powerful weapeons to equip the marines.
They are being too slow to find the ancient weapeon, plus they entrust an wrong man to find it and Spandam will not be able to fillful his plan which proves that the WG are weak and they fail to realize that someone working with them is planning to overthrow the Gorousei.
Croc and Robin? Well, there's no way of knowing what happened, but if not, it'd probably be because Croc's too cool for mutant jailbait.
I don't think that Don Flamingo ever flatly declared war on the World Government right next to CP9, under the threat of Buster Call, and on the World Government's doorstep where there are thousands of marines.
Yeah. Possibilities:
1. He did declare war, but was asked to be a Shichibukai anyway. Meaning that the gov't didn't really fear him.
2. He declared war, but turned bitch and applied. It should be crystal clear that Luffy wouldn't do this by now.
Amidst all the silly speculation…
I really liked this chapter, and for some reason the cover story was one of my favorites. I really liked seeing Crocodile and the gang again. I have to wonder what Oda has in mind for BW in the story again... it'd be goofy for him to go after Luffy again.
God... everyone raving about 16 year old Robin and wanting to bone her... pedophilia toward fictional characters, jeez.
Overall, a great chapter. The flag being shot was a powerful scene. But, I have a feeling the next chapter will be mere buildup, maybe some matching up, and the battle will begin in 400.
I'm really curious to see how Oda will have this battle done. A free for all melee, maybe, but that feels like it'll take away from the characters a bit.
This chapter definitely cemented this arc as my favorite arc in the series. I just loved how Oda resolved everything between Robin and the crew. And the emotions don't just end there as issues between Usopp and Luffy still remain. I can't wait to see how Oda resolves that one. This arc will definitely be a tough act to follow. Hopefully though One Piece hasn't hit it's peak yet.
damn the smile on lucchi face at the end was awesome
predictions:
cp9 hopes down in front of the bridge to stop them. then they fight their.
Dialouge predictions:
Lucchi:
If you want to pass you have to go by us…But lets make a little more fun...One on one.
Spandam:
Lucchi! finish them off quick we dont have times for games!!
Lucchi:
gives spandam a death glare Shut up...Or I'll kill you!
@Cap'n:
God… everyone raving about 16 year old Robin and wanting to bone her... pedophilia toward fictional characters, jeez.
No, it's pedophilia if they start talking about wanting to bone 8-year-old Robin. What they're doing here is just having an unhealthy fixation on a slightly-underage cartoon character. >_>
The Strawhats' combined bounty could be higher than Don's.
Let's see…...
Luffy: 100,000,000
Robin: 79,000,000
Zoro: 60,000,000
The total bounty should be 249,000,000 berri. Not high as Don yet.
Awesome. By burning the flag, the Strawhats are giving "the finger" to the WG.
Can't wait to see how the battles are held off, its literally Strawhats vs. The World.
I think that they are honestly giving more than "the finger" to the World Government.
At least we know damn well that Luffy takes flags very seriously, from the Drum arc. To see him parallel Wappol and have Sogeking destroy the flag is really something.

Generally the word "practically" doesn't mean "already."
Who knew that from the first few volumes of Luffy fighting giant beasts, fat mace-wielding woman pirates, clown pirates, and a butler with steel claws.
Would lead to the World Government about to go after their asses.
If the Straw-Hats declare war on the world, I hope it does not hit the peak. After this arc I'll like the Straw-Hat pirates resuming their innocent adventure and face many other oppointments.

Well…I did.
I mean, we all knew from the beginning, that sooner or later the strawhats will be the number one and that sooner or later the whole WG would be about to go after their asses. We didn't know how it would happen, but it had to happen at some point.
@Steel:
Awesome. By burning the flag, the Strawhats are giving "the finger" to the WG.
Now, if Luffy were to pull the Strawhat flag from somewhere & attach it to the flagpole on top of the Judicial Tower. Then that would be the complete "Fuck You" to the World Govt.
….one can always dream.

I really think the days of resuming an "innocent" adventure are over after this. They stopped having an innocent adventure after Luffy first got his first bounty, actually.

I'd like to see that happen too.

Well, there was the DBF…which I would call a rather innocent adventure, especially in the way it was presented...great comedy from start to finish.
did ne1 notice that crocodile on the cover had two hands? i thought he had a hook on one. i guess that was just for show…
Yep, it was mentioned awhile ago.
Crocodile is a trickster. But think about it, he's a logia user, he 'can't' be permanently decapitated, since he can reform his body.
Why could'nt Luffy turn the flag upside down? Oh and I'll like the five old man blow there brains out when they see that all they do is sit on their lazy asses gripping everything after this arc…..
Gorousei 1: Damnit! Why are we bunch of dumbasses!?
Gorousei 2: The Straw-Hat pirates rose their flag over Enies Lobby! Why are the marines so damn weak?!
Gorousei 3: What are there'er trying do?! Take over the world?! We must do something about NOW!!!
Gorousei 4: Damn you Spandam! We trusted you! How could you betrayed us!!?? FUCK YOU!
Gorousei 5: I agree! In the name of Justice make the marines stronger! Start creating high techology to destory the pirates! Let's do this now!
"Crickets chirps as the 5 Gorousei sits there in silance without moving a muscle"
Lazy Bums
Wanting a 16 year old is pedophilia?
I'm 19… that's not too big of a difference, right? Sheesh. It's not like this is a forum full of old creepy guys....
.........Then again, I don't like 16 year old Robin anyway..........

I love to see that. When news of this goes out to the world, even Shanks may have to double-take on that one. XD

Uh….if they surround him with seastone, then he can't become sand, just like if they doused him with water, then his head chops off pretty easily.
@Cap'n:

Well, I guess if they chopped off his arm while he was wearing the seastone, it'd be like losing an arm normally, but beyond that, you decapitate him and he just remakes it.

I wonder.
How far does the Seastone go with preventing the DF powers?
Croc has what must be Seastone cuffs on his hands, but do they affect his whole body, or just his hands?
Actually it makes me think of that scene in the super-edited DBZ…
Tien (when Radiz smashes his arm off): Ah! You just wait until it grows back!
Well, there was the DBF…which I would call a rather innocent adventure, especially in the way it was presented...great comedy from start to finish.
True, but they were of course dealing with other pirates. I don't see why they can't have similar repreives even after Enies Lobby. There may be other places like Skypiea where they're cut off from most of the world.
Amazing chapter, the scene in the last page was awesome, I can't wait for the fights to begin…
I wonder.

I think as it has been speculated before, especially with consideration to Robin & her cuffs. That the seastone minerals that compose the cuffs could be of a deliberately lower concentration, as to only do enough to nullify the DF power, but not to drain the actual person of all their strength.
I wonder.

Yeah, given fact that it made Luffy weak just by touching it (Croc's cage), I wonder how BW still have enough strength to smash those prisoners.
The prisoner's were probably chickens play for them and remember Mr.4 is there so he could've knocked out most of them

Well, at least one of them (Mr.4) hasn't eaten a DF, as far as I know…and, as we all know, Mr.4 is, though also slow, insanely strong...so I guess he alone would have been able to beat all those guys up...
Luffy felt weak by touching Seastone, yes, but how weak?
I know he "felt faint", but most of it seemed just comic relief to me. Probably seastone leaves you weak, but I bet a weak Luffy can still kick ass when facing random thugs.
~Wonders what happened to Lassoo?
Put to sleep?! ;_;
Hey guys, check out my scanlation of this chapter at the OP MSN site.
No, I didn't steal translation(s), the translation was done by my cousin, Ariel (which I had to fix up quite a bit).

I think the real 'hard liquor' of seastone was probably present in Croc's jail cell and most probably at the end or tip of Smoker's jutte. I'd think it would safely be the same for the Marine prison and perhaps they only snapped on the seastone locks as a double precaution.

~Wonders what happened to Lassoo?

Probably confiscated, he IS a weapon.
I can imagine him being in a sea-stone carry kennel thing..
If seastone only affected hands, then Mr. 1 would still be just as much of a threat.
Oh…..sh-!!!!!!!! O_o
T-this freaking chapter rules!
dance Yay! I get to see Sokeking burn the flag! ^_^
Thank you, verbatim for the santrans(sp?) and thank you BF for the raw!^_^
" Probably confiscated, he IS a weapon"
Even so, he is still a living, breathing weapon, so he could still die or be killed. If he were to be killed, he or.. it would probably cease to function altogether as a weapon.
