bad-ass chopper! bad-ass zoro! all of them are really not that focused in their 1 on 1 fight cause they have time to talk and notice some things lol. but that's how it's suppose to be right? them not having much trouble against NFP. cause it will be bad if they are having trouble now and they're still not in the new world.
Chapter 642: Losing Face
-
-
this chapter shows that the pre time skip straw hats can beat them, although they will have a hard time beating them.
NFP should be as strong as the CP9
-
Sanji defeating Hitosuma just with that simple mind-trick.
Well, actually a cool way to defeat that childish character, but again NO FREAKING ACTION!!!! -
NFP are not as strong as CP9 …
-
If you want see the pictures in better quality, here´s chinese version: http://www.onepiece.cn/thread-3924-1-1.html
-
Not a bad chapter, but I was expecting more plot developement. Still, the SH's are looking cool, and surprisingly the other NFP are doing quite ok, while Hyozou, the supposed strongest of them, is doing so poorly against Zoro.
That's 2 years training with Mihawk, I guess.
The best thing, for me, the colourspread. Is it the first time Oda used this kind of colours? There's something there that feels really different. I like it!
-
Hyouzou, unless there is a twist, is easily the most badly handled character Oda has ever done. Bar none. Just… absolutely horrible. Luffy saying he's strong, introducing him separately and in a much more favorable light than any of the others, foreshadowing him since the AP arc, him being more of a veteran among all these newbies, giving him the ES transformation... all that for absolutely nothing at all? He might as well not exist. Ugh.
-
I have a feeling there's a reason Hyozo is shown like that and people are once again jumping to conclusions like they did with Nami and Robin not getting fights. I mean this was one attack and it destroyed Hyozo's swords not KO him.
Also, I just realized, but this is another colorspread drawn with watercolor, looks like that at least. Cool.
-
That's why I said "unless there's a twist". You'd better believe I'm hoping for that with all I've got, but if not…
-
Hammond is a pimp, who knew
-
^i don't know but is he really the strongest swordsman in FI? there is still a chance that he is not the one. he maybe be strong (and a veteran) but not strong enough for the SHs. Hody's ES transformation is also not good enough right? it's only because they're fighting underwater that luffy cannot crush him yet.
-
well if my memory doesn't get rusty ,Hyouzou is capable of poisoning his opponents .
-

Maybe in the future will appear the true one but this arc it won't happen. It is for hyping the SHs and showing how strong they have become.
I doubt that suddenly next chapter Mr 1 swordsmen and other foes will appear and say… hello here we are

Jumping to conclusions? He just destroyed all of his swords and made him go entirely shit-faced. Pretty hard to conclude anything from that other than Hyozou is a nobody compared to Zoro.

Hacchi is number 2 swordsman on FI. Hyouzou is stronger than him.
-
Im actually not dissapointed at all in this arc, It just shows how strong the straw hats now…..
The real enemies will be after this arc, where the fight will be much more serious
-

Sure before the NFP are defeated we won
t get to see such characters. But it would feel kind of weird to get now out of nowhere new strong fishman who didn
t bother to go against the NFP.
Maybe such characters were gone to another place and arrive after the whole action right now, but yeah it would look cheap. -
So people are still whining that the arc is "bad" because of Hody and his guys are week, I'm going to say it again, did you start reading One Piece when ffs? and how the fuck didn't you see this coming, Oda portrayed them as WEAK compared to SHs since the start of the fucking arc, for all we know Zoro one shotted pre transformation Hody…
This is an arc about showcasing the SHs and about the story of fishman island, shut the hell up with powerlevels, the arc has been great on what it was set to accomplish, I've really been enjoying it.

I doubt Hyzou is even taking the fight seriously…..he's an arrogant fishman after all...
He's gonna step it up a gear now, that he realises he's not just going to walk all over Zoro that easily... -
Hilariously bad translation from mangastream yet again. This is the true terror of the boss of the Tai…!!
-
The best swordsman is this captain tai guy hachi mentioned.
-
Great chapter overall. I loved how Sanji trolled Wadatsumi. XD And Zoro… awesome!
-

THIS.
i seriously hope that they get a better translator
-
Damn Zoro, why you so badass!? Definitely don't think that Hyozo's finished, he only looked scared shitless.

thumbs up my friend!!
this arc was never been bad at all!
I was always expecting that after the post time skip, the first enemies will be easy because of how strong they have gotten in those 2years of training…
Oda is actually saying in this arc that even the pre time skip straw hats can beat them in a hard wayJust wait after this arc,
The real enemies will be after this arc im pretty sure -
BTW
Jinbei's line is interesting for a certain discussion as well… But seems like no one cares about the things Hatchan and he said -
good chapter. zoro is badass. chopperheavy point is nice.
-
Hilariously bad translation from mangastream yet again. This is the true terror of the boss of the Tai…!!
I haven't read their version yet but holy fuck.
Seriously this naruhodo guy keeps fucking up important words. Take for example last week, true "character" was mistranslated to true "form" and the misled readers were then like HOLY SHIT IS HODY GONNA EVOLVE AGAIN?!?
-
If you think about it, the New Fishman Pirates are probably around the same level as Arlong's crew. Considering the SHs had a pretty tough time against the raw strength of Fishmen back then, it says something about how far they've come when they're easily dominating in an even larger group of them today.
-
Oda is actually saying in this arc that even the pre time skip straw hats can beat them in a hard way
Where does he suggest that? That seems incredibly counter-intuitive to the purpose of this arc.
-
Pretty mediocre chapter to be honest, not really much happened, It was mainly shit talking and tidbits from some fights. I was really hyped after last weeks cliffhanger, but we didn't even get one serious fight or a little hint at what Hodys motivation could be.
Hope HxH will be better. -

@Robo:

NFP looks nothing compared to the 2 years trained straw hats
-
Hope Brook vs Zeo's fight isn't overly one-sided and stretched for at least half a chapter (if the whole fight is covered in a single chapter, that is). I, for one, want to see Brook's new sword techniques but I'd also love to see Zeo's fighting style and techniques with his chains.
-
NFP looks nothing compared to the 2 years trained straw hats
I agree, but that doesn't mean that the Strawhats could have easily kicked their asses without the 2 years of training.
-

I did say hard way right?
-
Maybe we got some by Hatchan's statement
I think it's funny how you and I are the only ones who see that Hachi's statement basically confirms Hody is Fisher Tigers Son.
Also question for everyone in this thread : Since when Do antagonist have personal motives for the evil things they do ?:wassat:
Will Hody be the most developed Villain ever in OP ? Wonder what that could lead to :ninja:
-
I did say hard way right?
Did you mean "it would be hard for the Strawhats to kick their ass", or "the Strawhats would give them a serious ass kicking"? I read your post as the latter, but if you meant the former, then I apologize.
-
Good chapter, hachi and Den comment intrigue me,we got answer as to why to fishman folk arent fleeing to prevent death.
Im suprised at hammod appearence, looks like boss(unfortunely he has robin as opponent),funny scene with sanji. The new side of chopper its good to see him accepting what he is,poor zoro hyozu cant even kill is boredom,i assume the guy fails as warm up,zoro ftw.Interesting style the colorspread, its first time isnt it(this style)? Oda able to rock the pink.
-
Story progress couldn't be slower than this chapter. Well, at least it's nice to discover some clue about Hodi. Looks like he's indeed has some strong connection with Fisher Tiger.
The colorspread was adorable, Robin and Nami especially look great there.
-
last page on mangastream scan says
Zoro uses "kekkai" which usually means some kind of energy or magic barrier/forcefield or something
-
:If it collides with the island and the princess. everything will be over as was written:
No one commented on this line yet? There's something hinky going on about that whole prophecy thing - how would it be all over if the princess got hit too? I mean, sure, if the island got destroyed they'd be out a home and all, so I suppose you could call it all over, but he specifically added Shirahoshi to that statement. Just what does this freakin' prophecy say?!Good chapter though. I enjoy watching the crew all fight and I've really missed seeing them trounce their enemies. Considering that Hattchi is the 2nd best sword-fighter in FI, I'm not surprised Zoro is giving Octo-guy a major beat down. Hattchi was trounced before the crew even got to the Grand Line. There can't be too much of a difference in his and Hyozo's skills - even if Hyozo was a complete 'power level' above Hatchi, he'd still be way below Zoro.
Like someone said before, this arc is about showing off how powerful the crew has become before they officially reach the New World and start getting their asses handed back to them. Also, story reasons.
-

haha sorry about my english,,, im really not good at it…. apology accepted
-
Chopper ate 100 Shadows.
-
btw, Hammond is a dumbass.
Who rides on slaves into battles were you have to be fast on your feet? It's fucking pointless. They are worn out and fucked up, they are only going to slow you down. -
the scans on MS look really better than the scans on MR.
its more sharp on MS and on MR its kinda blushy.
That colorspread IS drawn differently. Usually Oda uses a black pen to draw outlines, but this time its sumhow purple or violet. Only the eyes of the chars are drawn with a black pen.
How a lil colorchange can change a picture that much…
Zoro cut Hyozos swords vertically, this is insane!
I know this time the SHs have no challenge, but do u think sth can happen, so the leaf turns again?
What I have in mind is that if Noah really crushes into FI, the NFP have their underwater advantage again.
Bout Hody: I think he is sumhow related to Tiger, but I doubt that he will be all good and fine after this arc ends. Except Luffy does sum CoC-ultrahax-brainwashing-blast to Hody (which I doubt).
But i look 4ward to the nex chaps. -
Question, in the third panel, does the king mean the ship and the princess? Because it says "If the princess and the island collide…."
-
Interesting thing I realized: Hyozou is using regular swords while all three of Zoro's swords are legendary and special swords. Of course the normal ones are going to break.
