punches you hard
No -_-; I disapprove.
Entirety of the album "Hospice", by The Antlers
It is the most intensively painful story about cancer, relationships and death in music and it makes me cry easily. It's my go to album when I want to listen to "sad stuff" because it has perfected it.
Screw crying, this a step further and makes you want to die. (A+ album). The entire point is that it's a story, though, so linking you a single song would ruin the "crying" effect, although every song is good standalone; the power comes from listening to the entirety.

Not a tear jerker by any means but a nice sad awesome song is emma by hot chocolate
Have a free nostalgia trip to de-frost your heart.
Not a conventional tear jerker but if you don't get a warm fuzzy feeling in your chest and rosy cheeks while listening to this, you have no soul.
just watch Gungrave if you need to cry.
My favourite song, there are so many emotions in that song.
Simply brilliant.
Over half the stuff by Simon and Garfunkel.

Is that enough? I still have more, tho…
I don't know but the Peter Gabriel cover of "My Body is a Cage" by Arcade Fire kind of gives me that gloomy feeling whenever I listen to it.
I mean I doubt you would cry or even get a tear off but it gives off that gloomy feeling.
!
this is for you two.
h_lolzIf you are close with your dad this one might just tear you to shreds.
IDK Something about the beat of the song, the subject matter, what happens in the song - it all just combines together to make a song that really pulls at your heart.
this made me cry the first time I watched it. I had the lights off and was all alone in my room, which definitely attributed to it. but damn, that tear he sheds at the end.. fucking intense.
Every version of this song.

Cyan, I love you for posting Whiskey Lullaby.
This one could make me whimper since I fist heard it in Junior High:
:(
Futuramaly.
Also Haha Naru Umi. One Piecely.
Futuramaly.
This song is even more hideous than the woman singing it.
Also pause it at any point around 0:44 to see more weird ugliness.
edit: Did I mention you're doing it wrong?

Not so tear-jerkey but if you're in the right mood…
Was gonna post Johnny Cash's Hurt, but that was taken care of on page 1.
Yeah, Cat's in the Cradle is a nice one.
Agreed on Cats in the Cradle.
^personal favorite
How can you even think of sad songs without thinking of this one? (Maybe its just 'cause I'm a mom–its about his child--so sad.)
Argh! There was a song I listened to endlessly as an angst ridden teen. What the heck was it now? I think it was Kansas…
Carry on my Wayward Son? Nope--that wasn't it.
I found it! Dust in the Wind! That was it! LOL.
This song, also from the 70s, may suit your present circumstances more, though, Smudge dear–And the ones after (once I started looking, one song lead to another, so I thank you dear for that little trip down memory lane)--hidden for the now ridiculous length of the post--especially the last one. Jim Croce. Classic crooner. They just don't make them like that anymore, LOL! (Yes I'm old. Deal with it.)

Oh yeah, how could anyone forget Dust in the Wind and Tears in Heaven.
After seeing Cats in the Cradle I remembered this song that makes me cry literally every time I start singing along with it
