Looks like the only thing FUNi announced at their panel was 2 new live-action movies and We Without Wings.
Funimation dvd discussion II ( UPDATED 8/4/12, FIRST POST FOR F.A.Q)

Looks like AX is still our best bet. Shame about Higurashi though. I'll hit up J. Michael Tatum and Chris Ayres at Portcon at the end of the month and I'll let you guys know if anything major comes out of it.

Hmm? What about Higurashi?

It's been confirmed on the FUNimation Beta forum that FUNimation isn't picking up any more, as with Familiar of Zero due to really poor sales. As bad of news as this is for Higurashi and FoZ fans, this is god news for One Piece fans as we now know how a series has to go in order to get cancelled.

Awww. That's disappointing news. I love Higurashi and especially wanted to get the other seasons (I would've even bought them on Blu-ray). The same goes for Familiar of Zero! One of my friends told me about it, I bought it, and I freaking fell in love with the first season.:cwy: Well, I guess Higurashi and Familiar of Zero could always get picked up by other companies, like Sentai, Media Blasters, or NIS. I do agree that this does give us more insight to how series need to do when it comes to them being canceled, especially considering the fact that Funimation was rather upfront about poor sales warranting the non-continuing of said series. I guess it's still a waiting game on our end until Funi officially announces season 4 of One Piece. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for the widescreen masters.

I hope widescreen masters even still exist for the episodes leading up to Water 7. I hope if FUNimation does have to settle for the cropped masters for those episodes, they fold them into Season 3 instead of forming a Season 4 out of them and starting it with Water 7 instead.

The DBF arc being made to be Season 4 or an extension of Season 3 means little to me. Funi wouldn't be the only ones "settling" for cropped masters, we, the customers would have to settle for it. I just hope that isn't the case, because I've seen how much gets cut off on the sides, and I just don't like it. But as said before, time will tell.

Schedule has just been announced at AX. Funi's panel is July 1st at 6:35 pm.

Not that I'm currently aware of, sorry. I base my statement on the KF release (cropped) and this older sub group called Balkongo Fansubs (widescreen). I will say that it's been quite a while since I saw both versions, but from what I remember, I was surprised by some cut-offs.

intresting. you would think their would be a thread about it somewhere, if memory serves me right, someone mentioned that their area views the cropped versions.

Is anyone going to be at AX? I should be at Otakon so I can tweet from there.

I'll be at Otakon also, though I don't know how fast I can tweet the announcements.
-
I think the podcast might be going but I'm not 100% sure on that.
-
When is Otakon gonna be?
-
-
When is Otakon gonna be?
Otakon is going to be in the Baltimore Convention Center as per usual on July 29th.
-
So what i understand is that there will be another KON? in July
HOPEFULLY there gonna anounce something or anything about One Piece release.
this is taking freaking long!
I know it is allot of work and all, but say too the fans what you are up too. and how ur gonna do it.
all this mystery mess about season four is going nowhere.
they have the licence i saw it on google.
One piece is one of the best they have with Dragon ball Kai.
A minor anime doesn't attracked this many fans.stupid waiting….

funimation have not yet acquired the license for season 4 and so forth, someone falsely reported this some time last year and it has since been proven wrong.Negotiations are still(we are led to beelive) going on between toei and funi and everyone is realy getting their hopes up for a big announcement in one of the upcoming cons.Something along the lines of " we have finaly acquired one piece episodes 206-406 and have began dubbing the davy abck fight arc" ,would be incredible!

FUNimation does not have the license. They're in the process of obtaining it now, it's just that it was falsely reported at one time that they did. If you actually read the article on the website reporting it you would know that dubbed Season 4 was disproven.
-
I'm going to be hopeful and assume they have the license already. Anime Expo is where they drop that bomb, i'm counting on it.
-
Technically they might have it by now if the deal has been closed since the question was last addressed. We know that Funimation wants more One Piece, so it's probably just a matter of time (unless this turns into a Sailor Moon situation, which seems unlikely considering the translation job has been 99% accurate to the original with just a few small hiccups here and there so I don't see Oda flipping out over small beans like "Zoro killed Mr. 1" or the gold logo).
I'm not worried terribly worried about it at this point. I'll be annoyed if we have to wait for the 2012 convention season, though.
Actually, there's always the chance we'll get the announcement as a press release - that's how Funimation announced both the acquisition of the series itself and later the simulcast - I think the voice cast was a convention announcement but I'm not sure (same goes for the DVDs starting at episode 1). Considering we're in the middle of con season, though, it would be strange unless they don't want something as big as One Piece to take away limelight from something else.
-
Yeah, the voice cast and the DVD order was announced in a con. In fact, I believe it may have been the same one.
-
One Piece Collection #2 coming September 27th. Apparently it is now pre-orderable.
-
Ugh, it's gonna take forever for the collections to get into the season 3 stuff.
-
As soon as this shows up on Right Stuf web site I'll order it and then get two emails a week saying it's not available yet. 1 box set every 2 months, thats 12/12 release for Volume 8 guestimation. 6 months later 6/13 Season 4 announcement with new voice actors cause the old ones will be retired. then 12/2013 Box 9 release date.
-
Well judging from Collection 1's cover the seconds one's cover should look something like this:
!
Also, it doesn't look like we'll be getting any NEW One Piece for the rest of the year. December if we're lucky.

[/hide]if we don't get any new OP before years end I wouldn't be surprised. I was kinda suspecting maybe spring/summer 2012, at the earliest, anyways.

Yeah, unfortunately, at the very least we have to assume they haven't dubbed anything new yet.
-
Why do you think we won't get season 4 until December or later? Why so long of a wait? What happened? This show is great! Also i'll be getting Fairy Tale too when that's dubbed by funimation…
-
man i actually really want to know how these new box sets hold up. hopefully they are using other material then the card board they are using for the 13 ep sets. mine are slowly starting to peel away.
guess well have to wait and see

Personally, I'm hoping for what they're doing with the Anime Classics line where it's a traditional clear 4-disc DVD case with a cardboard slip cover. I just think they're easier to marathon when you're not having to deal with thin-packs.
Also, if my math is correct and if they fold six-disc sets at the end of Seasons 2 and 3, there would be enough collections to have all seven Straw Hats on their own cover. Case and point:
Collection 1: Luffy (s1v1, s1v2) Theme Color: Red
Collection 2: Zoro (s1v3, s1v4) Theme Color: Green
Collection 3: Nami (s2v1, s2v2) Theme Color: Orange
Collection 4: Ussopp (s2v3, s2v4) Theme Color: Yellow
Collection 5: Sanji (s2v5, s2v6, s2v7) Theme Color: Blue
Collection 6: Chopper (s3v1, s3v2) Theme Color: Pink
Collection 7: Robin (s3v3, s3v4, s3v5) Theme Color: Purple -

If there was a collection 8 I'd have to say the "Crew member" for that Collection would be …... the Going Merry.

(although i dont think they would mind keeping the old ones on there)
-
Sorry, I don't know a Rorona Zoro.
Ha! That's a misspell on FUNi's part then. Anyways, here's what Collection 3 will probably look like (which I think it comes out in December):
!
Also please excuse the whole "Nami the Navigator" thing on the poster. I do not know why they chose to put that there. Especially since it was a 4Kids thing.

Volume 5 will be the Vivster. No boats allowed.
Just ordered Collection 2 from the Right Stuf website. Also Color Walk 2. Can anyone house sit for me so I don't miss the UPS guy?
-
amazon.com is having a sale on all products FUNimation, so you collection goers who want more One Piece now, take advantage of this offer (though the prices have already dropped). And if not One Piece then some other FUNi shows.

I'll wait until the price drops to nothing, 'cause that's just how hardcore I am.

Episode 205 has just been uploaded on OnePieceOfficial.com.
Next week, we'll see whether 206 will be uploaded or not.
-
Hopefully it will, even if it'll be sub-only, but I'm expecting them to just stop uploading the older episodes.

That's what I've been hoping for for a long time. I've watched the dubbed streamed episode since they first started streaming the new subbed Japanese episodes, and have been hoping that they just air the next season as their answer.
I started wondering if anyone else knew that the streamed their dubbed episodes because no one talked about it here/
-
I honestly expect to at least see episode 206 uploaded, probably both dubbed and subbed. However, after that point, it's really anyone's guesses what they'll do. However, Anime Expo is coming up and will be on the first day of the convention (July 1st). This would be the perfect place to announce what the status is for the next episodes and would fall in line as to when 207 would be uploaded if they continue (which would be the 2nd). I can only hope this'll be the case.
-
I predict next week we will get…......nothing.....
Hope I'm wrong though. But it's not likely.
-
If we get Episode 207+ In the simulcast, I assume they would probably be Subbed only.
-

Don't expect it. If they continue on, it will only be subbed. Unless they came out and shocked us and said that they had dubbed much further when they announced Season 4, but you can't expect that either as it contradicts everything they have said so far.
I have streamed all of the dub episodes as well, but most members on here do not discuss it because they've bought the DVD's and watch them on there. I have yet to find a job so that's my only way of supporting the releases at the moment.
-
Well I just got my season 2 of One Piece all voyages but the 5th one from amazon.com new. So I hope that helps sales for them to release the 4th season…I have been rewatching One Piece today and the past few days. I'm on the 13th episode right now of Season 1 Voyage 1.... in the past I have only seen up to the point where Sanji joins the crew so I got a lot of episodes to look foward 2. So that anime expo or whatever it's called....well will find something out about season 4 then maybe right? In July? Thanks

There are three big cons in July that Funimation is attending (there are other cons but these are the ones pertinent to discussion here), the first of which is Anime Expo. San Diego Comic Con is a little later on that month and also covers several other types of fandom (such as comic books, movies, and TV shows). Otakon is the last weekend in July. Any of those could have an announcement and are the most likely cons to have such an announcement in the immediate future. If we don't hear anything then, we're probably looking at New York Comic Con or one of the big cons next year.

They announced the Dragon Boxes at Otakon, so I have a good feeling about that one.
