I'm pretty sure that's referring to TV's and such. At least, that's what that terminology usually refers to.
If it does include controllers, then TV + controller is multiple displays.

lets say teh console costs $250 to make. I bet eh controller only costs $75 at most
The controler itself is more potent than a DS XL, there's no way its 75 "at most", its at least 75 bucks.

how much does a touch screen cost?
i mean besides a touch screen there is really nothing new besides a camera that isn't already in a wiimote plus controller. is there?
The gyrascope is stronger and more expensive, same should probably apply to the camera, although don't quote me on that, the touch screen is pretty expensive too.
However, the real reason why this controller is gonna be expensive is because of the ability to stream images from the console to the controler, that's the truly expensive part of the controler, and the one you're ignoring.

" "We're considering our options with maybe two screens," Eguchi told Kotaku, who said he considers multiple New Controller games to be "an interesting idea." That would mean games that used two new Wii U controllers. "
so, it sounds like they aren't planning anything right away, but he didn't come out and say it was impossible. maybe 4 controllers is impossible? I don't know, but I wouldn't rule out the eventually possibility of multiple New Controllers.
nice to see. i'm fine with two. i don['t think four would really be used that much, but two would be a good number

I don't think they'll NEVER do it. It's too great of an idea to use. Take something like…. Lets use the example of a Wii U Advance Wars. Each person has their own squad and uses the controller to choose different units etc and it's all played out on the big screen.
well as with most things, i like this step.
same with when wii and kinect were shown. (ignoring move since basically wii) did i think both would be flawless and the most amazing things in the world? no, but its a step towards something greater. Ever since 2006 when wii was released motion gaming has only improved with better tech and better utilization in games and so on. Is it perfect yet? no, but they had to start sometime.
this new controller is giving me that same sense. Will we have 2+ controllers, maybe not, but just one controller is enough to start getting developers thinking of new ideas and how to work this so that in the future when we do have 2+ controllers they won't be noobs still for making things work good on that type of control
Well everything is not set in stone yet. So I'm sure we'll see some changes with how many controllers should be included.
So is the screen on the controller HD?
apparantly the 3rd party games shown at the conference were just clips taken from ps3 and 360 games. they were not on the wii u
really brings a smile to my face at the people that are saying "the graphics look worse than the current gen" you know considering they were exactly that current gen videos
So is the screen on the controller HD?
No, it doesn't qualify as HD resolution (1280x720 or 1920x1080). But on a screen as small as that HD is total overkill, as it's pointless to squeeze in that many pixels in such a small space. The sharpness should be about the same, but it probably has around 900 pixels the long way. Pretty much any android phone, iphone/ipod, etc, is the same way.
people who have had hands on with the controller guess its close to 720p
So what is actually stopping other companies from making some kind of same kind of WIIU controller as a addon for the ps3 and xbox360 before WIIU comes out.

Well, Nintendo has come out and said that it isn't HD resolution, so it'd be silly to think they're downplaying it. An iPhone is about 100 pixels short of 720i/720p resolution, so the Wii U controller is probably about the same. Kinda close, but not quite (90%).

Neither of those consoles have a video card that can support it. Nintendo can only pull it off with a new age ATI card that's built to handle multiple screens.

thats why i said close. they said its between the 720p resolution and whatever is one below that. i didn't know that number off head so i just said close

Not to mention very few devs would make a game exclusively for a peripheral that didn't launch the same time as the console without a huge bribe monetary inducement. As we saw with all the "kinect games" which also support joypad only.
I just watched some of the 3D game trailers you can download from the eShop. I am sold on Super Mario, Kid Icarus, Starfox, Zelda OoT and maybe even Mariokart. Seeing the trailers in 3D really makes the difference.
3D Excitebike is incredibly amusing.

That's true. I suppose it might be possible with some external device that has its own GPU along with the controller, but it would be expensive as hell and be doomed to fail miserably without dev support.
i really really like this excitebike. I now understand why it so loved :D
I got link's awakening and i'm up to the 3rd dungeon. I've started luigi's mansion again so i've been playing both
I really need to play Luigi's Mansion again.
Anywho. Been loving all of the spotpass updates for Samurai Warriors. A new stage a week is great! AND for Free. (And considering it's been going on for over a month now I've already got more FREE content for this than what you get in most paid for DLC these days)
People say that Dead or Alive has daily free DLC too. Very nice.
yeah dead or alives dlc is just costumes. I have like 8 for ayane now but i stopped collecting them because each one takes up space and i don't even use half of them :P
Ign may have found some possible details about the new smash bros games that we won't see till 2013. Apparently Sakurai doesn't just want to add characters and stages and graphics and thats it. That's why he stuck with 3ds one.
Sakurai believes 3ds, being a handheld, is more personal to one person than o multiple so the 3ds version may include customization and experience points that you could then send over to the wii u version and use on that.
This is the full article: http://uk.wii.ign.com/articles/117/1174416p1.html
Personally i'm gonna start clinging to every little detail i find about this game :D
Do you guys think credit card info is safe over the eShop? I'm not trying to get my info hacked like PSN, but I also don't feel like going to buy one of those prepaid cards.

Nintendo didn't save my credit card data after I made a purchase so it's probably fine. There shouldn't be a database of numbers for anyone to steal.
Hmm…I wonder why I got club nintendo points for Excite Bike and Pokedex 3D, two free games, while I didn't get any points for Link's Awakening, a game I payed for :(
urg, all these people getting their eShop gooddies… can't wait til I get home and have working wifi again...
also, I just realized how awesome Wario Ware is going to be on the Wii U. 3 vs 1 microgames.
the best feature that i liked about kinect was the whole voice commands that they did in mass effect and the few quick voice things they did with the ghost recon game gun customization
wonder if since the new wii u controller will have a microphone if it coudl be used for something like that? or will it just be used for voice chat online?

yup, it does have a microphone. Confirmed for use in Ghost Recon from Ubisoft.

I know how you feel… Except I am home, and I don't have Wi-Fi. =/
My stupid Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector stopped working (I can't get it to install on my current computer and laptop) and no where I have gone to has offered me a Wi-Fi connection that my 3DS would actually connect to.
It's very aggravating. I was so happy to get a 3DS because I would have a portable console that could get online, meaning I could go to an Wi-Fi hotspot. But nope. None of them are working. >_>

confirmed to be used for in-game commands or just confirmed for talking over teh interent with friends?
cause i know that ghost recon game is an online game, so want to know if the voice was used to do things in game, or just your typical voice chat

they used it for online chat, without headsets. Personally, I feel silly talking to myself, and would rather use buttons (or a touchscreen!!) to direct my men. But the mere fact that it has a built-in microphone opens the possibilities to other games using such a feature.
Odama Wii U, anyone??
I wonder how much battery life this Wii-U controller will have. PLEASE make it better than the 3DS
Non-E3 news. The new pokemon game has been announced. 'Super Pokemon Scramble' which is is sequel to the WiiWare one from last year. I'm guessing it'll be on the 3DS
edit: Yes. 3DS and out in Japan July 28th

how did you get points?
how did you get points?
For Excite Bike and Pokedex 3D? Well, first off, you have to sync your Club Nintendo account with your 3DS. Then you have to sign on to Club Nintendo and there should be a little survey for each game. Fill out the survey and you should get 10 points each.
I am 30 points away from being a platinum member. Hopefully, Zelda OoT 3D will put me over the top. I hope the platinum gift is something cool and not a crappy statue like last year.

Crappy? I thought that little statue was pretty cool, considering you're getting it for "free" (unless you'd like to think you technically bought it, considering the amount of money you paid for the many games you bought to add up all the points you needed to get a platinum membership).
I had hoped to get a platinum membership this year, but I just don't buy that many Nintendo games, and I hardly buy it within the month they're released to get bonus points. Ah well, maybe one of these days…

Am I the only one that thinks the Wii U is going to crash and burn within a month of its release?
Yes, pretty much.

Hmmm I sync my account and the 3DS (got 100 points for that) but I don't see surveys … well doesn't matter and thanks ;)

Now thats not a very positive attitude. Nothing crashes after 1 month. I think the cd-i and virtual boy lasted longer than that.
I wonder if we'll see soul calibur V for wii u. I want to play as link again in soul calibur and this time maybe ganondorf as well :D
I'm just not buying into all these fancy new consoles that have a massive pricetag and million and one gadgets I won't use or need. The only thing about this that I liked was the large screen, but apart from that it just seems like its trying to tick too many boxes without really excelling at anything else currently on the market. It would have been nice to have seen something new, but instead its pretty much what you'd get if you merged the iPad and PSP (2) together.
But as its still early days I'll keep following it and the various reviews. But I seriously doubt it could fill the position of either my PS3, PC or DS.
Nintendo is looking into ways for friends to bring their controllers to your console for multiplayer according to an interview
also Wii U has no friend codes
was about time!
hate the friend codes.
btw. many said that they downloaded E3 trailer of Mario Kart, Luigi's Mansion 2, etc. … is this US only?
Looks like Wii-U MAY have Mass Effect too.
it seems to be as us european and australian gamers don't seem to have this. I was hoping nintendo of europe would've improved with the new eshop (the nintendo channel was fairly bad for the latest videos and demos but only in europe)
Awesome i wonder if they'll release a collection or just mass effect 3
I wonder if we'll get AC… that'll be cool
AC = Assassin's Creed?
Was "announced" at the presentation, wasn't it?
Just which part is unknown and when

The only reason I haven't bought ME2 for my PS3 is I want to start with the first one.

Is it worth it to be a member of Club Nintendo? I've been considering registering, but I'm not sure…
@SonPan:

It'd be awesome to have Air Conditioning on the Wii U.
one controller per system … >.>
