Ughhh. Tired. Gonna wrap this up quick (hope I've got everything and it's semi-conprehensible).
@SympathyX:
So you pay for releases when they become available? So does that mean that you've only read as far as One Piece volume 55 or as far as the US Jump has gotten in the Paramount War. Other than that I guess you buy the Japanese Weekly Jump every week. Even if you've bought all the books so far, if you don't buy the Japanese Jump's and read the scanlations then that's still stealing.
Remember:
I'm not at all trying to justify it mind you. Just pointing out that your pissing in the wind a bit here seeing as piracy isnt exactly a new thing here and I'm sure you do a fair bit of it yourself.
As I said in the very post you quoted, I pay for official releases when they become available. One Piece, for example, I have payed for and own every english volume. And I buy our english Shonen Jump every month. Trust me when I say when I use scanlations, I make up for them.
But I'm not here to have a semantics argument on piracy with you. But I'm guessing we're pretty much done here.
@Kitsune:
I don't get it.
If you buy chocolate ice cream and hated it, but I got it for free and legitimately liked it, I'm a bigger fool?
I'd work on your arguments a bit there.
Perhaps I should've been more clear. My post in question was directed toward SympathyX who pirated Sonic Colors, not you Kitsune. I can almost safely assume you've paid for it in some form.
As for my other argument (paying for it and hating it etc) I suppose that's just my oldschool gamer instincts kicking in when it comes to rentals.
The old mentality I've learned when I was a kid. The kind of feeling you get when you've saved up enough money for a weekend rental at a family video rental place for a game. You come home and play it and find out it sucks, but goddammit you paid for it and you're gonna try to enjoy it.
That's what I mean (if that made any sense). I wanted to enjoy this so much I payed for it (albeit a rental, but that's still better than my usual playing off friends' consoles). I'm actively trying to enjoy my rental so when someone pirates the game for free and enjoys it (aka, no reinforcement given to increase enjoyment), I feel something is monumentally wrong.
And I think the lot of you have a wrong idea about me too.
I may hate the Sonic series currently, but I'm not actively seeking to hate each game. I'm not bitching for the sake of bitching. I want to have fun. I want to be a fan of this series. I want a good Sonic game. I give each game a fair chance. Sonic Team just ain't providing.
Fuck me I'm tired. I hope this all still makes sense in the morning as it does in my head right now. G'night.
