Soul Eater COMING TO TOONAMI FINALLY
-
-
I really do like Justin so I enjoyed this chapter :)
-
nice chapter, if a bit short.
I love Tezca, so it's good to see him… doing things. I was going to say "kicking ass" but he didn't really do any of that. Step it up, Tezca!!
-
This is why Tezca Tlipoca is a superior Death Scythe.
-
Clones are for Naruto, I'm more interested in what else he can do, like the last page.

Shouldn't the reason be this?
-
Wouldn't want to meet with that in a dark alley.
-
New chapter's finally out. Well hot damn, I'm off to Manga Reader as soon as I get home.
Edit: There was nothing particularly wrong about the chapter itself but I'm still pissed. Because we wait a whole month and all Okubo gives us is 19 pages. Is he going through some personal issues or something. Seriously how the hell do you do that?I'm gonna be honest I never really liked Tezca, he was never really one of my favorites, but the chapter was still cool while it lasted.
-
So short! And confusing! Also awesome! But confusing!
-
that was like…half the length of a normal chapter...HALF.
what the fuck? seriously?
-
@MDL:

How unsensitive of him not to work during the earthquake!

Uh, this? ^^^
the hell's the matter with you folks.
It's not like you're PAYING for this.
-
shut up. i never suggested that.
i simply thought that there was a standard amount of page numbers that mangaka are required to use for each chapter, so i was surprised that this chapter was accepted for publication.
unless the magazine it runs in took the opportunity to use something else to fill the number gap or something.so if my understanding was wrong, and mangaka can submit whatever page numbers they please, then i accept that. XD

I guess you forgot how many chapters during Marineford arc from One Piece had just from 15 to 17 pages then.
Of course they can submit whatever page numbers they please!
-
i didn't forget, i just didn't think it was relevant.
weekly series = / = monthly series. They both run with different page limits and different magazines.i simply noticed that soul eater's pagecount was significantly low, which raised question marks.
but they've been answered now. :) -
I heard some publishers were running out of paper, but they expect to have recovered next month.
-
i see, good to know :)
-

Wow, I actually didn't think of that, sorry Silence and maxterdexter, I didn't mean to be insensitive. If that's the case then I can understand. Maybe Okubo knew someone who was injured in the earthquake or something. And you're right I'm not actually paying for it, it's just I like Soul Eater a lot and I dislike waiting a month for a new chapter, and especially when it's half the normal length. But the earthquake was a major disaster that killed nearly 100,000 people, so I guess I can see why some manga aren't coming out or are shorter than normal.
Pray for Japan. -
Tezca was pretty cool, and the stylistic art was awesome to look at.
Is it just me, or did Justin almost seem to have four pupils on that one page with the close up of his face? I know it was probably just the ways the eyes were drawn, but it still looked a tad funky. -
Well yea… thats Soul Eater for you... it takes "madness" to a wholllee other level (visually ofcourse)

That page looks like it would make for great stickers.

but they've been answered now. :)If you want low page counts for a monthly series than check out the page counts for Hellsing, when that was coming out once a month it was usually 8 to 10 pages you'd be lucky to see 13 pages…and i'm not joking.

Madness was one of the main things that brought me in to read soul eater.
Does anyone else miss the old Justin fighting style before he had to perform fusion with a clown?

i see. i didn't know this because i got into it long after all the volumes had come out.

I remember Hajime no Ippo having some pretty low page counts back in the day.
I think I remember the odd 8pager, normally max of 14 or 15.

You my friend got lucky. Having to wait an entire month just to read a 10 page chapter was frustrating but at least Hirano Kohta's art style is freaking awesome (IMO)

I have yet to read past volume 1 of Hajimme no Ippo what were the page counts?
EDIT: An in case your curious here is the epic 8 page hellsing chapter: http://www.mangareader.net/205-13779-1/hellsing/chapter-54.html

I've been very irritated by how a good number of the Hunter x Hunter chapters are 15 pages or even just 10 pages. I want 17-19 pages for weekly series and about twice that for montly series. Yeah, I know I'm not actually paying for it, but I still want my full chapter experience.

How can you ask for something you aren't even in any vague sense of the word paying for? Nothing you read in scans is owed to you: least of which anything for a manga where nearly ALL, if not all, of the volumes are out and released here, like HxH.
I can understand being upset when chapters are shorter than usual - but only a little. The minimum amount. If you aren't buying Jump or buying Ippo or buying HxH or Soul Eater or whatever else [very rarely] has a few chapters short of the max, you really have no right to complain about less than the usual amount of your 100% free entertainment. To say "I want something" but not actual give something is pretty unfairly entitled, for a moocher. Like "I want hot water and electricity, but I don't wanna pay rent."
Manga is a privilege. We, are pirates.
Navigate those murky moral waters however you please, but all of scanslation is straight up piracy. I ain't saying be grateful for what you get… but I wouldn't be wrong to? Cuz the people who have the most right to complain when Togashi skips work or Soul Eater spits out half a chapter once in a blue moon are the fans who pay for each issue of WSJ or Monthly Shonen Gangan or buy the tanks.
Your full chapter experience is of little or less value to Atsushi Okubo.
-
If I could, I'd pay the 2-3$ a week (or month) to get the magazine.
That's why I hope that THIS initiative works

Alright I get ya, perhaps I phrased it wrong. I guess very irritated is too strong, more like slightly irritated. I just wish the chapter was full length, but you're right I'm not paying for it, so I should be glad I'm getting anything out of it. I appologize, I just prefer to have a full chapter.
-
thinking about it… if i was paying for the magazine that soul eater came out in, i would definitely be disappointed that my experience was caught short.
"WTF i didn't pay good money to be let down like this!"but i guess it doesn't really matter to me, because i buy my manga in volumes. so i probably won't even notice.
(because i seriously didn't notice there was an 8 page hellsing chapter while reading the volumes) -
SOUL EATER NOT CH. 4
-
Could Soul Eater Not be a factor to the decrease in the chapter pages for Soul Eater?
-
Why would it be?
Soul Eater chapters were the regular size all the other weeks it was released. Unless it's somehow too tough for Ohkubo to do by now, it'd be surprised if this were the reason.
-
Why would it not?
Soul Eater chapter page numbers were consistent until now since Soul Eater Not was released. It wouldn't be strange to think that it might be taking a toll on Okubo. Having two series going simultaneously is not exactly a breeze walk.

All of the chapters before this have had around 33 pages without any problem. That includes the chapters released alongside Soul Eater Not. Doing two concurrent serializations is no small feat, but at the same time… it's strange to shortchange the number of chapters on the regular series to have a full chapter for the spin-off, isn't it? You really think his editors would let him do that? It could just as easily be any number of things for this month: other manga in the magazine had a special issue and so were running longer pages and that conveniently worked out for Ohkubo... it could be the already mentioned paper shortages that the publishing industry has been experiencing.
Or, um, the absolutely catastrophic earthquake leading to some authors running behind schedule or being unable to make deadlines. It could be the pages for Not (considerably easier and less complicated to draw than Soul Eater's) were already finished before the earthquake, before the paper shortages.
It could be anything, but I honestly don't think that of those things, Soul Eater Not's serialization is the most likely, suddenly, after four months of publication. If forced to choose, the magazine will drop Not like a brick, rather than sacrifice a few pages of one of their headliner series. Does that make sense to you?

Not really, having NOT as a recent series, it needs the boost it can take. A drop on the SE's chapter numbers for this month would not significantly affect the already stable series, that's how I see it. Do you think the editors wouldn't let that happen?
Basing on your earthquake example, if he did actually did that wouldn't that show already that NOT was a factor to SE's decreased chapter pages. Doing NOT first instead of SE, it is already affecting SE no matter how you see it.
If SE continues to drop its chapter pages affecting its popularity as a manga then dropping NOT would make sense but that wouldn't happen right away. They don't base dropping a series on one occasion, that is why they have statistics. Does it make sense to you now?

I understand what you're suggesting, I just think there are any other number of circumstances more immediate and more probable than it just being Not.
The earthquake was an unexpected event - Soul Eater and Soul Eater Not being drawn simultaneously could easily have affected one over the other. If Soul Eater was delayed unexpectedly because it was still being drawn when any of these catastrophes occurred, it's not Soul Eater Not's fault that Soul Eater had fewer pages - it's the earthquake's.

(because i seriously didn't notice there was an 8 page hellsing chapter while reading the volumes)it's kind of easy to overlook that cause the begining of a chapter doesn't tell you how many pages it has unless you physically count the pages. Whilst reading it online you can find out how many pages a chapter will have.

I've been reading the manga for a long time, but just started watching the Soul eater anime on netflix because I was bored.
This is one of the most hilarious animes I've ever watched. I'm talking the type of funny that has me loling the whole episode. (for the episodes that are meant to be comedy ones, like Excalibur)
I wonder if I was loling just as much when I read the chapter that involved them all studying for that test, and Black Star and Soul tried to cheat, and lol @ Kid.
-
I have bad news for you…you will know why I said this when you finish the anime series and read the manga up to its latest chapter.

You talking about the anime having an alternate ending?

I've heard that Maka is able to defeat Asura by punching him with HOPE! But that's just what I've heard. Either that or friendship.
