Interesting pics. Thanks for posting.
Toriko
-
-
Yeah! Komatsu slicin' sumthing it seems.
-
Nice to see an official romanization of Zebra. I mean, we all pretty much decided it was Zebra, but since his character has nothing to do with actual zebras, it was kinda hard to tell.

¬¬ it's beside "Torico" and "Komatu"…
-
Yeah, those aren't "official". Toriko's name has been written with a k in a million other places in the manga and Komatsu's name is Japanese, it's not open to interpretation. Also it's been written as Komatsu in a few official places. Those names are stylized to look weird or "cool".
-
The mural looks to me like the birdmen are harvesting the tears of the chimera (?) and that is most likely the mellow cola. Very cool chapter all around, Komatsu's "intimidation" was great to see. Sent that snail running pretty fast, at least.
-
Good chapter. Looks like
! the mellow cola is the tears of some massive beast. I hope the beast is still alive or they at least left some reserve of the soda behind, or the guys are out of luck. Also neat to learn that the bird men are the ones who built the massive pyramid… or so it appears. The explanation about the massive amount of kcal that Toriko and Zebra expend was also neat... though it makes me wonder about how he survived the fight against Tommyrod if those statistics are true... he expended way more energy than 3,000,000,000 calories fighting him. Didn't it say his anti-freezing ability used a ton of calories by itself?
-
Yeah but he replenished himself once if I remember correctly, also upgraded his cells.
And 4.5 billion cals? Ain't even mad…And finally Komatsu slicin'.
-
Seems like Komatsu has started to gain the mentality of a 25 year old man in the short amount of time that he has been with, and gained guidance from Zebra. Very good chapter overall. Hopefully Komatsu will gain some swordsmanship skills later on, and actually be Toriko's partner instead on his luggage.
-
Seeing that is prety much his age I think it was about time.
Now if on his next off time he goes on to a little visit to Melk, then I will stop calling him a walking tumour on the face of humanity.
-
Awesome chapter! Finally glad to see Komatsu gain some backbone, even if it did end up not the way he expected.
By the way Kewl, is your group still on the ball for scanlating Toriko? There hasn't been any word from you guys lately.
-
That was a prety good chapter.
Also MS's trans finaly seems to be less awkward sounding.
-
It's incredible how much calories Toriko and the other Kings burn.
-
God damn, Toriko burns more calories taking a shit than I'll ever burn in my whole life.
-
We have our first official episode title courtesy of Naruto Forums:
"Landing, Gourmet Island! The Gourmet Hunter Toriko Appears!"
Ah Toei, you and your overblown episode titles!
@Uncle:God damn, Toriko burns more calories taking a shit than I'll ever burn in my whole life.
Ell oh freaking ell, man. If I didn't love my sig so much, I'd sig this.
-
Yeah, their titles usualy are a little overblown if not outright spoilerish.

Yes, how DARE Toei spoil the debut of its main protagonist to the viewers!
-
Worst off, they spoiled that it's episode # 1

What? No way! I'm fucking pissed!!! There goes my Toriko fandom! I hope Toriko dies!!! :whistling:
-
They should do a crossover where Komatsu lends his knife to Zoro…He wouldn't even need legendary swords then.
-
in the picture the things looking at saturn, maybe that means it's an alien, and it cries when it's planet comes into view….. idk just a though probably wrong
okay so lets see here
one piece = haki
Dragon Ball = chi
Naruto = charka
Bleach = reitsu
Hunter X Hunter = nen
Reborn = dying will flame
Yu Yu Hakusho = spirit/demon energy
.......
Toriko = calories....... I love it, keeps great with the whole "everything's based off food"
-
Haki really shouldn't be in there, seeing as how the others are required for most advance attacks and special powers in their series, and are of they type where you run out then you die, whereas we've heard nothing of the ability to run out of Haki in One Piece
-
For some reason Komatsu's face impressions of pure shock or fear always make me jolly. Somehow, his gimmick haven't got old. For me, at least.
And nice seeing him finally using the knife to defend himself. He will need experience to handle it, but even now it sure is enough to protect him for a while.
And for some reason, I think the meaning of Zebra's words:"The kid is the reward" is that he wants Komatsu to join him. That's dumb, but I sure think Zebra wants a partner too. -
For me they got old before I first saw them.
They're so annyoing they actualy transend the boundaries of space and time.

How the hell did they notice the tremor from Komatsu's attack from there? Thats like 30kms distance.
Little confirmation : for each "ren" it costs 30 mil calories for Toriko. (3 ren = 90 mil, 15 ren = 450 mil so it's kinda linear)
-
Actually, that tremor was just a weakly received ripple effect compared to the massive shakeup that Komatsu caused at the epicenter. However, I'm not sure how tremors can be measured underground considering that the area around the castle is completely enveloped in sand.

i never know they can run out of chi in DB or nen in HxH.. is this true?:wassat:
-
A chimera monster. Nice
Oh and its on tears. XD
-
It was a decent chapter. Not as good as some before but it was more of a setup chapter. Now we have confirmation that Zebra is the strongest of the Four Heavenly Kings like I always thought. I was hoping for the GT Robo to appear but a possible alien/mummy is good too. I thought that some of the monsters this chapter were a bit lamer than usual but that was my only nitpick for this chapter.
-
What GT Robo?
A true bird man species exists.
-
What GT Robo?
A true bird man species exists.
I guess it could be the bird man, but I find it more likely it's a GT Robo searching for the cola.
-
Somehow, the idea that a monster can cry a high-sugar laced carbonated beverage seems wonko.
-
You should really learn to expect this sort of wackiness from Toriko by now.
-
With the whole earthquake thing there've been problems getting raws early. We're working with a couple other groups trying to figure something out. I just released our scanlations of 132 and 133. Hopefully by the next issue of Jump, 2 weeks from now, we'll have something better together.

Well you like Kain, while I think that thing is rarely bland, generic and retarded, just an ugly convultion of Mashima. So for each his own.
-
Kain does a bitchin rape face.
Komatsu does…..

Yes, but I needed an excuse to use the smiley.
-
Nobody uses it around here anymore :(
-
Despite the drawn with a left foot stone painting, I really felt crying monster's pain. Cruel, selfish bird things.
And about Komatsu - in a manga about super strong macho men, a simple, down-to-earth annoying weak human which could both play a straight man and be someone for the reader to assosciate with is a normal thing. You might like him, you may not, but it's nothing unusual. Although to hate Komatsu you probably should be either a walking mountain of muscle, or a spitting image of the boy.
-
By that logic, No Maam looks exactly like Komatsu!
-
So with Komatsu how many forms of intimidation have we seen through the manga?

So with Komatsu how many forms of intimidation have we seen through the manga?
We've seen Toriko's, Coco's, Sani's and Zebura's, as well as Starjyuun's. That's it, I think. So with Komatsu, it's 6 forms of intimidation.

Komatsus intimadation was a real beast (Because of his knife)
But… It makes me wonder, if the other guys intimidations have been real beasts as well? (would have been sweet)
-
The Heavenly Kings are beasts.
They take down monsters like they're puppies with their own bodies as weapons.
But seriously…Toriko did mention he was once a cage animal.

I had no problem with Komatsu except for the Melk arc where I felt he was too over the top even for this manga. It was like almost every expression out of him was a silly face.
He still had some good humor bits like, "There's Nothing There!" but that was the arc where I didn't like him. Aside from that he was generally fine, I didn't really like the Melk arc in general, it dragged a bit and was kind of boring. Things picked up alot with Zebra I'd say.

The Toriko/One Piece movie special came out today I believe in Japan. Anybody have any news on how it went?

One of many.
