Who's that with kid Asura? Is that Vajra's human form? When was that shown? I thought Vajra's human form has yet to be shown or even mentioned yet.
Soul Eater COMING TO TOONAMI FINALLY

Lol.
It's kid Stein, man.
-
You can picture her being a boy with huge nipples if you want.
What the fuck are you blabbering about you creepy retard

What the fuck are you blabbering about you creepy retard
Who are you and what do you have against retarded people?
-
I don't get why Chrona's gender was such an issue for some people. It was pretty obvious to me she was a girl.
Anyway, pretty good chapter. I was glad Stein was holding up against Soul, seeing as how he hasn't done anything particularly impressive in about a year. I'm interested in seeing what Medusa is up to, since she's probably my favorite villain.
-

HUGE NIPPLES? OH SHIT! Those are tumors.
Anyways…where is this proof people are talking about...Chrona and her huge boobs?
On the matter of It is so obvious....HAKU disagrees with this mentality.

Give a brown name to the first insignificant clod out there and he thinks he can pull off the "who are you" shtick
-
Read chapter:
! Pretty nice seeing Soul be confident, and I like his Piano Scythe moves. Also, the thing with the Imp being big makes me think that it might be a comedic nod to the anime (possibly).
EDIT:@Aldrich:Give a brown name to the first insignificant clod out there and he thinks he can pull off the "who are you" shtick
Well, correct me if I'm wrong, but aside from your recent activities in this thread and a few others, you've been inactive for how long now? Last I remember you posting was when Franky joined.
EDIT 2: Bleh, since it might come up, I used to lurk in the spoiler threads a lot back then, where I saw your user name come up a lot. Never talked, though. -

I just have no idea what your problem is. Your comment seemed quite random. Could you see I was talking to the poster above me? Or are you just another smartass twat that stirs up trouble for no god-damned reason?
edit: Screw this shit. Added whoever that was to my ignore list. I'm not going to bother adding more fuel to this fire.

No but seriously what the fuck was the "huge nipples" comment all about I don't get it
Does your enfeverished confused mind somehow picture Crona with massive tits or something
More generally I was wondering what's up with the obsession a lot of people seem to have with seeing "proofs" of Crona's gender when the whole point of the character is that it's genderless/ambiguous
That might not be something to get worked up about, but it irks me because
1-it shows a blatant lack of understanding of very simple characterization
2-it ends up feeling like a bunch of sleazeballs trying to convince themselves there's another shy underage girl in mango for them to slobber all overedit: Screw this shit. Added whoever that was to my ignore list. I'm not going to bother adding more fuel to this fire.
lol delete your post then if you didn't want me to reply instead of dropping that last turd and running away

Aldrich posted quite a "bit" ever since Moria's survival actually. Why don't you just check his post history?
-
1. We saw chrona half naked some odd chapters ago. He/she did not have big titties
2. If chrona's gender is revealed, it's not going to be on the cover you MORANS
Edit: also, aldrich thank you for that image you posted. I didn't have that one! :)

Ur welcome
And since I'm here might as well make a contribution to the thread that doesn't involve me being an argumentative dong so here's this month's cover cropped up
!
It is a pretty nice picture if I do say so myself

You have to read the comment above his to understand he was merely joking with Sognatore, but obviously the joke struck some kind of chord in you which is fine if you didn't understand it and/or like it. I just hope you're not taking it personally.

I find it a curiosity which for me was put to rest on the cover page because it was just so…well...unambiguous. Blatant really that she's a girl.
Nothing beyond that really. I just like...no I prefer to know the gender of my characters.

I assume you're referring to this picture.
! Yeah, either I completely forgot about it or it didn't convince me because I've seen too many "girls" that turned out to be guys in anime/manga. I'm going with both.

Get out

See that's what I meant when I say I don't get that line of thinking, there's absolutely nothing "blatant"
It's entirely in your head, you're taking your personal preference for a fact and ignoring obvious author intent, and that's a bit annoying
Nothing beyond that really. I just like…no I prefer to know the gender of my characters.
Well tough shit then because to quote myself in case I wasn't being clear enough the first time
the whole point of the character is that it's genderless/ambiguous
It's one thing to say "I like Crona better as a girl" and another to go WELP STOP THE PRESSES BREAKING NEWS CRONA'S GENDER 100% CONFIRMED everytime a new illustration picturing Crona looking as androgynous as ever is released
What am I doing arguing about this
At my age
I'm out

What's the point of telling someone to get out of the thread,
and then deciding to leave the tread yourself?

Because common sense seems to fly right over your head. I pointed out the "obvious" for you because I mistakenly thought you misunderstood it. Instead it just seems you're hopelessly angry about a joke which had nothing to do with you.

And this is the problem. You assume I'm trying to convince everyone she's a girl. You assume I care what other people think on her gender. You don't even know what my "personal preference" is. No, all I stated was for me she was confirmed a girl this chapter. Why you care so much about what I think a character's gender is, is beyond me. Breasts aren't blatant indications of being a girl? It's all in my head?
Lol, who cares!? I understand you want to see her as a undefined character in regards to gender, but isn't that your personal preference in opposition to mine (the one you claim I have)? If the author wanted to keep her gender so ambiguous he's been slipping up recently.

Everybody calm da fuck down

Chrona is a very damaged and sheltered character. The point of him/her 'appearing' feminine is solely based on the idea that chrona's only parent and role model his Medusa. Chrona tries to emulate Medusa through appearance by cutting and styling his/her hair (probably with ragnarok or a rock, and very poorly I might add) the same as it's parents.
Medusa is also sick fuck who fucked this kid up three ways from Sunday, and gone to great lengths to make sure Chrona has no self worth, or sense of identity. With the amount or experimentation, who knows if chrona even HAS a gender any more (or ever did).

I see what you're saying and that's what Aldrich was saying (the author made the character ambiguous and appear gender neutral) and it makes a lot of sense for the reasons given. But for now I just look at Crona as a…girl. When I started out I saw her as an 'it' you could say. I could have been swayed either way to view her as a boy, girl, or stayed with none of the above but right now I can't see 'it' as any other way other than as a 'her'. Maybe that'll change in the future and maybe the author will confirm something. But really it's just a matter how you look at it.
I highly doubt the author cares what gender you think Crona is. Just as long as you were confused at some point and you can be swayed.

You're an idiot the end
ALRIGHT THIS TIME IM REALLY OUT
SEE YOU AP
WOOOOOOO

I think chrona has the head of a goat between it's legs
I don't think the author will care that I think that!!! Now I'm gonna go write some fanfiction

"At my age"
Anyway…
I'm glad to see the Maka can still keep Soul in check when she needs to. If it weren't for her who knows where'd he be right now. And vice versa.
-
Glad that's over with. Personally, I don't really think the author intends to use the "issue" of Chrona's gender in such a deep matter, unless it was said so. Soul Eater could end and the fans could still have a hard time trying to figure it out like it's some kind of loose end.

Chrona's lack of gender identity is important to hint at the kind of life it's had with Medusa. And Ohkubo is definentally the kind of writer who would put in that level of detail. Maybe you're used to Oda who sort of designs an infinate array of characters and rarely puts that level of subtle detail in his designs (unless it's important and the character eventually comes out and tells you why), Ohkubo is very mathmatical when it comes to his characters, and he seems to love to hide their stories in their designs. He WOULD make Chrona's gender ambiguous to give a glimpse into it's life.
-
wow missed a huge fight
I loved the keyboard thing, that was brilliant I hope he can do that even when he doesn't have madness controlling him, soo cool

I know what you mean about a design showing more than actual dialogue. I'm quite familiar with Chrona being an entity that does not really know its purpose and does not understand emotions/having emotions. It's like completely different take a Frankenstein story with more padding and room for growth.
The gender thing just never really occurred to me until the anime completely threw it off. Before, I just identified Chrona as girl mainly because I didn't fully understand the character during introduction. I then looked it up to make sure it's canon in the manga only to realize that the translation of what Chrona "is" is vague, all speculation and always up for debate.
I forgot to mention instances in where scanlators pick a gender to throw off the whole ambiguous gender thing too. It's gotten to point in where I don't really know what to believe aside from my own personal view.

So far as translations go, there's no real way to translate it and have it sound natural, right? Because japanese gender pronouns are so ambiguous. Translating it to English, you can't identify and call Chrona "it" or "shim" every time heshe's on screen. It's easier for most folks to pick a gender to call him/her and leave it at that.
Even though I personally think Chrona's gender is ambiguous, and intentionally so, and it could really go either way, I still say "her," when referring to shim, because it doesn't sound impersonal like "it" does or stupid like "shim" does. But if "she" was a "he" it wouldn't really make much of a difference to me.
Though there definitely are folks it does matter to (the Chrona fappers).
-
Chrona is obviously a chick.
-
Chrona is obviously a chick.
-
As I've said before. Who cares what people think Crona's gender is? If the author made Croana ambiguous then the author purposely left Crona open for interpretation. People will take that opportunity and define Croana as they see fit (whether it's to see a gender or not), and by whatever course the author takes with the character.
It seems to be the author's intent to have people confused and obviously disagree with Croan's gender, if any. But hell people it ain't that much of a big deal.

I would like it if people would stop arguing about Chrona's gender and start discussing interesting topics like what Medusa and the other villains are planning. I personally think Chrona is a girl, in fact I thought that was confirmed, but apparently not. Either way probably doesn't matter.

Medusa is planning to tell everyone that Chronas a chick.

How does a snake hatch a chicken?

How does a snake hatch a chicken?
That's a good question. You know what…who's the father?
-
I know Medusa has insisted over and over again that she's Chrona's real mother, but.
But.
…I really struggle with this concept.
-
I believe that the more people think Chrona's the girl, the more it's going to end up being a boy
you're playing right into the author's hands
-

Either she really does go all out to get what she wants for her experiments, or Chrona could be a test tube baby….maybe.
...I'm trying really hard not to think about things the author probably never intends for us to think about right now. -
I have a feeling this arc Chrona's gender will be more ambiguous than ever…
And I still love what the author said in an interview when asked what Chrona's gender was. For those of you who don't recall, it was "I don't know..." XD
-
Well, a new chapter of Not! came out. Light-hearted as before, not completely hilarious, just kinda fluffy.
and Ox is such a good guy, like, seriously.

Wow it has been a while since there has been any discussion here. Okay I have a question. I've recently had a discussion with Gliblord where he doesn't want to read Negima or Soul Eater because he hates the sexualization of underage girls, so he won't try them out despite those being two of the best Shonen manga out there. If that is his problem then I definitely can't recommend Negima to him, but I think I can still recommend Soul Eater because the fanservice with Maka became a lot more sporadic as the series progresses. At least from what I remember its kind of been a while since I read this series. So can anyone confirm my statement that the Loli fanservice lessened greatly around the time Asura appeared (maybe even before that). I definitely see why he doesn't like that, and it's a controversial issue to say the least. But I just think it's a shame that he would neglect not one but two of the best Shonen out there right now. So I'm just looking for someone to confirm me.

There really isn't any-hardly any fanservice anymore. The author likely just used it to help get a fanbase, and when he knew that he no longer needed to include it, he no longer used it.
-
As I said in the Fairy Tail thread, Soul Eater is great stuff, and the little fanservice around definitely doesn't detract from the story, or the action.

Just got done reading the latest chapter. Did anyone else think Midvalley the Horn Freak with the way Soul was using the piano blade?
