@RobbyBevard:
They will. They're just saying that now to make sure people buy black and white instead of waiting.
Isn't it a Win-Win situation regardless of how they go about it?

Frankly I would prefer it if they dropped Pokemon Grey and instead concentrated on a true 3Ds title. The 3rd installment in each generation is just a rehash of the previous two games with a few additions most of the time. Instead of buying what is basically the same thing twice I want to see something new.

No, I believe this is the mindset of the bafoon they're trying to fool.
Hears their will be a Grey version: "Oh, Black, White and Gray are all the same, but Gray will have prettier pictures, I'll wait and buy that one!"
Hears their will not be a Grey version: "No third game for the 3DS? I'll buy it now then!" 1 year later… "Hey, there is a third one... but this one has prettier pictures than the one I own. Must buy..."
Screw Cave Story. I want me some La Mulana in 3D.

Working on a third installment for any generational pokemon game hasn't ever stopped Gamefreak from putting out a new pokemon game even if the new material is a mixed bag so they could easily do multiple titles at the same time.

I never said it would stop the production of a new game. Only that I believe if Gamefreak does not release a new pokemon game for the DS they are going to be chomping at the bit to get a 3DS pokemon title out much quicker.
I am sure that they could work on both at the same time but Gamefreak would most definitely not release two new RPG pokemon games at or near the same timeslot.
The games have sold like a million preorders already, stateside alone.
Of COURSE they're going to milk it. All they have to do for third games is update the move tutor selection to balance out some weaknesses that developed over a few years of playtime and add some post league challenge of some sort. Possibly add back in your front critter walking behind you. In this case they'd probably have to come to some sort of compromise for the city that is different in B&W, but thats not a huge deal.
They can probably crank out the third version with just a couple months of effort and a relatively small staff. And with the potential of selling another half million+ copies in Japan, and another half million+ copies in America, and another half million+ copies in Europe… Of course they're going to go for easy, guaranteed sales. It'd be insane not to.
They just aren't saying so now so as to not dehype Black and White. WHy do you think they're making such a big deal about the shiny legendary dogs? To give Silver and Gold one last push before people stop caring about them forever.
Perhaps I should have been more clear. I agree with you. I was just expressing my wish that they would stop pumping out a rehash of previous games and focus on something new. I don't actually think they wont do a Grey version.
Eh. I'd rather not see Gen 6 for another 5 years or so. Anything earlier is just overkill. Also seems too early for Raging Ruby and Strong Sapphire too.
I think Nintendo even announced that there ARE 3DS Pokemon games coming out. But it'll probably be those Dungeons or Ranger first.

Red/Green- 1996, 1998 US
Gold/Silver-1999, 2000 US
Ruby Sapphire- 2002, 2003 US
Diamond/Pearl-2006, 2007 US
Black/White- 2010, 2011 US
It was initially three years between generations, and then it extended to four along the way. It'll probably keep to about that pace, since that works out for the spinoff games, anime, 3 or 4 movies, merchandising, and the year of hype machine buildup in advance.
So it'll probably be less than five years. Fall 2014 seems a likely bet for Gen 6 in Japan. Still a long ways off.
Not to mention, that actually will give them 3 or 4 years of development for the 3DS, which is actually about the norm for pokemon games. They traditionally aren't launch titles, they hit a couple years into the system's life.
Ahh I just used 5 as a rough guess. Honestly couldn't remember if Diamond and Pearl were 2006 or 2007.
I asked at Grainger today and the people there had no clue about the price. They said probably about the same as Game/Gamestation/HMV but couldn't confirm.
Well their website has it listed as ÂŁ195 now, so that's really good. They said they would price match any high street retailer and Morrisions are selling it for ÂŁ197 so if the online price isn't the same as the store, at least it'll only be ÂŁ2 more. Forgot to ask them when I went to a store on Saturday >_<.
Edit: Hmm might actually be a limited time price on the website.
Everywhere except Game, Gamestation and HMV have it down to ÂŁ197 in store. I'm going with Sainsburys since there's one just up the road. I asked if Game would be price matching and they said they wouldn't because the supermarkets sell them at a loss.
In my experience none of the High Street stores will even attempt to price match the Supermarkets. Which is pants because the Galleries is a small shopping complex with Game, Gamestation, CEX, Grainger, Asda, Argos and Sainsburys. The ones with Game in the title don't even TRY to compete with the other cheaper stores despite it being just as easy to walk a few paces and go across to the cheaper shops.
Anyone know the japanese games coming out with 3DS launch? And what are your thoughts on how long it'll be till we can get them imported?
Japanese 3DS is launching with 3 nintendogs+cats versions, Super Street Fighter 4 3D, Ridge Racer 3d, Samurai Warriors Chronicle, Winning Eleven 3d soccer (will have a different name in the west I believe), a Proffesor Layton game, Combat of giants: Dinosaur Strike, and Puzzle Bobble 3D. They also announced the US launch lineup today which has 16 games (counting all nintendogs versions as one)
PilotWings Resort
Steel Diver
Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition
Nintendogs + Cats, available in three editions: Poodle, Golden Retriever and Bulldog.
Ridge Racer 3D
Samurai Warriors: Chronicles
The Sims 3
Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 3D
Super Monkey Ball 3D
Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars
Rayman 3D
Asphalt 3D
Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars
Bust-a-Move Universe
Madden NFL 11
Combat of Giants: Dinosaurs 3D
These are the American launch titles that from what I hear is day one titles.
But for anyone in Australia wanting Steel Diver or Pilotwings Resort will have to watch as Nintendo has confirmed both titles as non launch titles in Australia.
Did I post the Nintendogs List? I saw it online a few weeks ago so.
Personally I'm getting the Golden one since it has Cocker Spaniels in. Although I hope it's not the American Cocker Spaniel.
Also reviews are in for the Japanese launch games.

It'd be nice if the dogs would grow up in Nintendogs. I'd love to have a full grown Golden Retriever in it.

Working before day 1.
Some increase in security. :getlost:
Before any updates have been made. Oh ok. Plus it seems to work for DS games only.
Also "Let me just clear things up. This is not a 3DS flashcart. It is the R4 used on DSi. It is not possible to play 3DS games from it. You can't use your current DS flashcart (no matter what brand) on it. The R4 team has managed to hack the 3DS in order to make it run. Nintendo has made a "whitelist", built into the 3DS. It's a list that contains the names of all games that can be played on the 3DS. These guys have modified this list, making it possible to run their flashcart. Therefore, YOU can not do this, unless you hack the system yourself. Expect Nintendo to release a firmware update to block the R4 cards once again."
Man I do want to get my hands on Pilot Wings, I was like 12 when 64 came out…Jesus Christ I'm old!

R4 is ancient as fuck, nobody uses it except the Japanese who don't know about any other carts (such as Acekard and SuperCard).
Nintendo said that flashcarts wouldn't even work on 3DS.
Also, the DS flashcarts shouldn't even be able to run 3DS games anways. They would need a new type of flashcart for that.

You are in for a long wait.
Damn. I love these Nintendo warnings for the 3DS
http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/108071-Discover-the-Dangerous-World-of-the-Nintendo-3DS
Remember folks. Never shove the 3DS up your ass.
Wait. Is that rubber duck trying to kill that baby with the 3DS?
So, magnets will put your 3DS to sleep? and also what the hell does the chain around the charger mean? Does anybody just kinda put chains on their electrical plugs? Don't such people deserve to be electrocuted?
I am pretty sure the baby is using his psychic powers to steal the 3DS from the duck. Nintendo may have mentioned that would be problem in a press release earlier this year, I cant quite remember.
"Do not stare directly into the death star or you will die."
You are in for a long wait.
I am fully aware of that.
Though I may end up getting the normal one come next Christmas.

I confess that I have absolutely no idea how in the hell these AR cards work, but this looks very promising. It can apparently detect multiple cards at once, manipulate each projection separately, and it has some sort of hit detection between the projections.
The 3ds sold out in Japan. All 400,000 units have been bought by people. Holy shit, preorder your shit now guys,
Has there been an update of the ''It prints money!'' image yet?
Ninty's laughing their rich asses to the banks.
Gosh damn.

I'm going to wait a little while before I get it, so I'm okay.
future me is making a time machine for this moment
Anyone getting Super Street Fighter 4 3D? Because I am until RE M and other titles come out during the summer.
Considering the fact that it's the only launch title I have some interest in, most likely.
yeah, SSFIV is the only launch title I want. but then blazblue comes out like 3 days later, so I'll have two fighters to fondle.

A video of online play of SFF43d on the 3ds. But it's in Japan and Japan usually has good online, so I don't know about the rest of the world.
Some cool news:
Some concept art for a possible new Metroid game:

The 3DS launch title that has sold the most is…

! Professor Layton and the Mask of Miracle!
117,589 copies of the game have been sold!
Freaking sweet!

I'm shocked! I just counted! All 35 characters of the original SSF4 is there! Color me surprised!
yeah, they're all there. and with all the dlc color schemes, too. freaking amazing.
oh, and that concept art isn't for a new metroid game. That was concept art for the Prime trilogy. kotaku is just hoping that the concepts could be used in a hypothetical new metroid game, like maybe for the 3DS. so don't get your hopes up, everyone. :P

Aww. I was hoping for something to keep us away from Other M.
Oh well. Maybe next time.
But that's seriously awesome in terms of SSF4.
ironic that the best-selling title is the one with possibly the least 3D functionality?

This video here is showcasing what the 3DS Sound is like and how you can control how the music sounds and the video while playing the songs. If you haven't heard, the 3DS not only plays AAC files but also has been confirmed to have MP3 playback which is purely awesome.

This video here showcases how 3D camera works and editing it to your own wants and needs.
There's also other videos on there showing off games like Combat of Giants: Dinosaurs, SSF4 (which I showed already), Ridge racer. Also other features as Backwards Compatibility and AR games and the friends list. You can all check it there at the channel.
To reinstate the fact that Super Meat Boy may come to the 3ds, hinted via Team Meat. We all know how Super Meat Boy got canceled for the Wiiware correct? Well Team Meat has confirmed that they're 3DS developers, which means we might see Super Meat Boy on 3DS or other Team Meat games. So when we see SMB on release for 3DS, don't be surprised.

Also the only one not announced to come west yet XD
Anywho. Got a chance to test it out yesterday (the 3DS) was kinda impressed with it. 3D seemed to work better than the huge 3DTVs they had set up in the Electronics shop. Although I can probably say that I'll probably stop using the 3D after a month or so. (probabbly just try it out on new games etc)

Oh, which store did you try it at? Been looking out for a store with a demo unit but didn't find any.
Gamestation in the Galleries has one.
I'm heavily considering donating a ton of plasma to buy this on launch date (provided that I don't donate too much and get unhealthy).
