But I do like to read Fairy Tail. I just don't think it's great. And I only own the volumes Gajeel comes out in during the Phantom Lord arc, because Gajeel is awesome like that.
About Fairy Tail, I honestly think the lore and some chars are cool. And all the magical things are interesting too. And even if there are some really crappy things, I think this manga isn't to blame.
I think this manga is cuter than amazing. And fun too. The good things are the different characters, their different magics and how Fairy Tail members act with each others and with other people. Even if the story sometimes sucks, if there are a lot of clichés, and unexplained Natsu power ups.

compared to naruto or bleach, fairy tail flaws are still manageable. Fairy tail has good premise, I just wish mashima was a bit more unpredictable and less linear. Fairy Tail gets a lot of thrashing from nautards in OneManga forums. I guess the narutards who used to bash One Piece for being overrated couldn't say sh*t anymore about the series and started targeted fairy tail.

Fairy tail is a person ??? are we talking about the manga here or something else. Their is a lot of stuff fairy tail took from one piece as inspiration, so is that what your referring to.

I've never actually read Nagai's comics. He might put out a book better than Berserk, but I'd be 10 times more likely to ever shake Miura's hand.

I am very skeptical when people make such claims about series better than berserk. Honestly, Berserk is damn good, too damn good. Berserk is up there for me with one piece so this nigai person should have a damn good series for it to beat berserk. I'll try reading that comic as well, but as bucaneer said, the verdict will likely fall in berserk's favour

Nagai has a shitload of mangas. A hell of a shitload of them.
He's famous for his Mazinger Z, but it's a surprisingly tame manga compared to the likes of Devilman or Devilman Lady here.
I've only read Devilman, and it dares to go to places I didn't think it would dare to go. And it's depressing as hell. Which was so werid to me, because as used as I was fro my childhood days to Mazinger's style of drawing, to suddenly see it used for such an ultra-violent, depressing and harcore stuff was really shocking.

It's the old school manga that's closer to literature. It had no stuff like acting cool or dropping one-liners.
Devilman Lady's plot is even more shocking. -

Devilman Lady has insane designs and the plot is just as insane, and the epicness is greater but Berserk handled emotion better. But the theme of Devilman and Devilman Lady is great.
And Jun Fudo, she has been raped countless times in the most bizarre ways possible and only Satan can impregnate her. The final battle is fucking epic.
Over all I would say Devilman Lady.
If you want I will spoil you why DL's plot is mind-blowing.

Miura's inking is great but Devilady takes the cake, I like how atmospheric the line work in Nagai is in contrast to Berserk though Berserk has a more fluid character design. But with that in mind neither of them can compare to this.

Miura art = God. That manga has always appealed to me just like one piece. Another really good series that I really enjoyed is blade of the immortal, the fight with shira was so cool

None of which you posted blew me away, at all. There were some decently shaded pages and the author can draw backrounds decently, but I haven't seen a single spread you posted that matches Oda in detail. Also I got into One Piece because the artstyle was different from your average manga, it had the same feel as those Chuck Jones/disney cartoons and that's what drew me in.

I don't know… it's... missing something. Maybe it's just me, but the art is a little forgettable. I mean, after I first saw One Piece (an AMV, if I remember right), many faces just randomly came to my mind and I even dreamt about two of the characters. And that was when I thought it wasn't worth reading/watching it.
That's just my opinion though.
