My mother.
No, seriously though, I honestly have no idea. Ever since the day Oda first revealed that to us, I've found myself interested in it ever since. In fact, I still look out for future references to it to this day.
@EvoWarrior5:
wow. never seen that before.
was that scene manga-only?
cuz i was anime only up untill episode 460.)
This was shown in the anime as well.

@Mr.:
I think he is stronger, at least in terms of physical combat ability. Luffy's DF is effective in that regard. If he can use CoA then Ace's intagibilty isn't a problem. We know that Jinbei and Ace were evenly matched, although Ace probably became stronger after that fight when he joined the WB pirates. But if we can get confirmation in this arc that Luffy is stronger than Jinbei then it is most likely that he is at least as strong as Ace. Even though he probably will get even stronger when traveling the NW, Luffy should at least be as strong as someone like Ace at this point.
I agree that, after this arc is finished, we should be able to place Luffy's point of power between the two at the moment, although if he really did become stronger than Jinbe by this time, I admit that that would be quite impressive. In all honesty, I believe that Jinbe is actually one of the stronger members of the Shichibukai, and the fact that he claimed to "of no use on land" and yet fought on equal ground with Ace without being submerged in water (although it's possible some water could've been present during the battle) is already a testament to his significant strength. Although, this is, once again, mostly speculation.
But yeah, it's probably more likely that Luffy should be around the power of Ace when the latter was still alive before the timeskip, but, technically, that would also mean he's more powerful than Vista, Thatch, Jozu, several other New World captains, and vice versa; that is, of course, unless either
a.) they too significantly grew in power after the timeskip (if we're comparing Luffy with their present states, that is)
b.) Ace wasn't necessarily deemed stronger than the commanders of lower rank in the first place
and/or
c.) the commanders aren't organized by their level of power
But yeah, then again, you never know…we should probably be able to compare through actual feats from the both of them by the time Luffy begins his fight with whomever he's matched up against.
He's definitely become immensely powerful, though, that's for sure; after two long years with the righthand man of the era's strongest being known to man, it shouldn't be too surprising if he did turn out to be stronger than Ace, in a way.
