becuase its an ex-shichibukai asking luffy, their captain almost a favor. meaning if they were to fight Hodi, they would make luffy look as though he can't keep a promise. Also, Jimbei said the message is for luffy is ecause luffy is the CAPTAIN. there is no reason why he would have the message past onto someone in his crew, sepcialyl when jimbei has never met a single one of them.
It was a request not a promise. The request was to Luffy not to his crew. Furthermore, their knowledge of the request does not mean they should assume Luffy would adhere to it. Even if Luffy got the message that does not apply to anyone else in the SHs. Bringing up that Luffy is the captain does not matter unless he gives an order to do the same as him.
In this scenario where Luffy hasn't even gotten the message there is no reason for the crew to apply the message to themselves on the hunch that they too should be obeying it as if Luffy gave an order.

Hodi came to the tower for a fight. The SH are there and they are human. Hodi hates humans so i think Hodi will attack them. Message or no message no SH is going to let themselves be attacked and not defend themselves. I also don't think that Zoro and the others will let Hodi and his crew attack tied up people who can't defend themselves. The way Oda staged the scene makes it very likely that a fight between Hodi and the SH will happen unless something big distracts them.

Well I can see Zoro at least block Hodi to not let himself and the rest beat himself up but not fully fight him.
But if he truly ignores the message and will fight him I can see Hyouzou blocking the fight.

Let's not forget Caribou is still on this island somewhere capturing Mermaids and doing whatever else he wants to. He'll play some important factor in the arc that's for sure. He'll definitely be an enemy of the SH's (especially Sanji) for capturing mermaids with the purpose of selling them on the black market.
He's probably the only "bad" human we've seen on this island so far. He may have something to do with Madam Shirley's prophecy. If not he still will make a reappearance somewhere and cause some more mayhem the SH's will have to deal with.

Agreed. I think I'm leaning toward something/someone interrupting them, as the reason why it won't delve into a fight to the death just yet. The princes, perhaps? They could tell the SHs to get out of there while they handle the invaders, and then later they're defeated thus hyping the NFP. Though I'd really like to see them actually fight…
Someone also brought up the palace possibly getting flooded. Oda has made sure that all the DF users (except Brooke) are out of there, and that would conveniently handicap Zoro, Nami and Usopp. In fact, I'm going to make the prediction that flooding the palace is what one of Hodi's officers are doing, since they've split up. Bet on it.
Zoro beats Hodi, Luffy beats VDD.
Jinbe comes back to fishman island. We go to fishman district.

There one thing that bother me: The Border Patrol said some dangerous individual has entered Fishman District. That couldn't be Hodi since Hodi's gang was leaving the Fishman District to go to Ryugu Palace. Also Border Patrol said they not here to shop, it could mean that they are Human since FI is a tourist island/gateway to New World, well Fishman could shop too but that could be a possibility that they are human foreshadow maybe?
Since the Poneglyph was mention and quite a few people feel that there no way Hodi, Decken can be the main villain. My thought is there gotta be a BIGGER villain has yet to show.

That would make Hodi and VDD the most pointless villains in one piece.
IMO, hodi and dekker a not that much of a threat of enemies in this arc, rather something to do with big momma will be the true threat.

There's a lot of speculation that Big Mam is the main villain but I see her being more of a friendly. It's highly probable that she's lola's mom and will play a role in the NW. The only reason she was mentioned in this arc was probably to explain how FI has not fallen into choas. Luffy has only needed to defeat 2 shichibukai so far, while another 2 have become allies. Just like with the shichibukai, I see one yonkou (small fraction) being an enemy and the others being allies or in Shank's case a mentor/goal. I can see Luffy fighting either Kaidou or Blackbeard (if he's become one). I still don't know about Kaidou, because he may have tried to stop whitebeard from going to war in order not to upset the balance, and shanks probably kept him at bay because he doesn't believe in interfering in another man's fight. Kaidou might be decent since the yonkou's we have seen so far have been shown to be level headed and use their name to protect territories. Of course they're still pirates and pose a terror to the world and government, but you don't become a Yonkou if purely barbaric like many of the pirates we have seen. I'm probably wrong though. Shanks is the only one I can see really being like Luffy. I mean if Luffy and WB didn't become allies for the occasion of saving Ace then perhaps Luffy might have fought him. It worked out better this way though.

im enjoying it a lot personally. it doesnt feel like arabasta at all to me, sure the goal of taking over a kingdom features in both but the ideals, methods and styles of the villains are very different. mentioning the lack of storyline seems a little unfair to me, the arc doesn't seem like its going to end anytime soon - and oda has already given us a nice sense of the place. remember that the crew have all powered up recently with new moves so i can see where oda is coming from not wanting to delay fighting too long, the readers are excited to see what the SHs can do.

The arc is still pretty early on, though. I also don't think it's really that similar to those other story arcs. The only similarity with Arabasta is that you have a group of rebels, but that's not really much of a similarity at all.
There's been a fair amount happening in the past few chapters, and I think things will start to become clearly over the next few months.
I'm curious with what's inscribed on the fishman poneglyph. Will it be the name and/or location of another ancient weapon, or will it contain information on the void century and the ancient kingdom?

You Judge Jones and deckans skill on nothing but speculation. For all you know they could be power houses. All we know about jones is that he can destroy a entire pirate crew with just his teeth and little effort at all.

We first saw Fishman Island and these guys nine chapter ago, and already their raid has started. If it's a short Arc after all, fine but if it's a long one, some Arlong clone and a stalker isn't going to cut the mustard.

When Decken gets owned he probably won't be showing up again unless theres a world war later on.

Decken doesn't look like a complex villain although he's been set up to be someone who is the main villain of the arc seeing as how he's been terrorizing shirahoshi for ten whole years and most likely was the one who assassinated the queen. I doubt he will be defeated so quickly. Imagine if he caught up with luffy and instantly got KO'ed. Pretty anticlimactic.
Looking at that Colorspread again makes me wonder if this was Oda's way of teasing us about what he was intending to do with Zoro's eye … it just seems a little bit too coincidental not to be a joke of Oda's. [And just to make myself absolutely clear: I [B]do not think a Macaw gave Zoro his scar – or that this image had, or will have, any impact on the plot of One Piece.]
I just read online so I don't have a Jump to be proof of it but that colorspread is a old one with those squares, I'd say is a mangastream thing since they took an old colorspread and put those squares on it too. Also it would look pretty weird to have an old colorspread featuring in the end of an up-to-date chapter.

Just a unlikely possibility with nothing to support it but "gut feeling", pretty stupid but I get excited about this kind of thing, would be nice to show one of them after the time-skip and his relantions with the New World.

Racism doesn't exist amongst fishmen / mermen before it was brought to them by humans. They never differentiate or judge people by their looks simply because their random gene probability in birthing their children.
I bet if humans were the same (e.g an Asian parent can birth a European or African child), racism will cease to exist.

I agree. Hodi doesn't seem liek a villian right now and I believe this arc will lead to something bigger.
We still have the strange candy factory of Big Mom, which truly can have some ties to the pills Hodiis using.

It's one of the last color spreads before the timeskip. It came with the magazine I believe, on an insert card with holes missing with the idea that you put it over a certain page, and the letters that show through the holes create a secret message. Typical stuff for kids really. I have no idea why mangastream decided to scan and clean the decoder card, though. But hey, I appreciate the effort.

I still think there's going to be some Final Fantasy like final boss that comes outta nowhere this arc. They're almost at showdown time with the current villains and I can't see that happened yet. And this arc didn't have any Oda moments yet so I think what's happened so far is just a red herring.

Well I definitely think the strawhats will sneak into marine hq on the new world side of red line. I'm not sure of the reason yet but luffy's already been to all the other major institutions so Oda will probably come up with a reason for them to invade the new hq. My own little fantasy is that they'll break in and run away with the secrets to Rokushiki but thats just me. Maybe jewelry bonney will be there who knows <.<.
(I just kind of think that the rokushiki secrets might help them upgrade their own techniques, like the secrets behind rankyaku might help zoro surpass mihawks greatest swordslash or something. After haki, rokushiki seems to be the next best thing.)
