This sounds like a bad filler, like the one with that kid having some clone of the nine-tails chakra a while back.

Honestly Kishimoto its not hard to come up with a fucking decent plot all you have to do is research your material; you did fine with Haku and Zabuza arc and even better with Exams.
My guess would be that he didn't actually write that stuff, one of his assistants did the work.

Kishimoto has an extensive cast that he doesn't develop or give screentime and yet is finding time for this guy. I don't understand.
Kishomoto created the lamest excuse to give Ginkaku and Kinkaku near unlimited chakra to use weapons that are useless if you don't have at least 3 of them…So, if a ninja is swallowed and decide to ''play'' inside the tailed beast's belly, he/she can make the beast regurgitate him/her and as a prize to survive the digestion you can have near unlimited chakra? Oh most definately. Although, I'm not sure it's working to it's full extent. The game designers of the last game on the 360 even seemed confused as to who from the series belonged in the fighting game. A girl like Karin, who never fought and had to be given a made up moveset, was playable but a boy like Konohamaru, who was strong enough to take out one of the Six Paths of Pain, was background fodder.
Looks like Kishimoto is paving the way for Naruto to lost Kyubi and survive (see the Gaara evidence) while keeping his kyubi-mode. However, he is paving it with bullshit pavements.

Obviously "Naruto" is no your average entertainment manga, and it never was.
Every detail from very ("lighthearted" – however "lighhearted" assassination of Hogake could be to some) beginning of it was not casual and bore meaning, meticulously unfolded in later arcs. Kishimoto is very calculative and planning in that. And 50th volume and later is consistent continuation of the whole concept.
"Naruto" was always meant to be of "War and Peace" scale. If Carlo wants it to be something else – some simplistic story -- then still his criticism is totally misplaced. There is no point to even begin wanting single-line plot developments and recurring use of characters which were already expressed via prior arcs.
It is strange that Carlo wants familiar characters, while plot comes to war which includes many parties that have nothing to with already used characters. It is no typical shonen manga where most of characters are used and reused again and again, gaining all of sudden new abilities in a short time. Naruto has only few of such characters.

Besides, doesn't matter if I haven't read for 20 chapters, I should be able to recognize at least ONE name in a spoiler. If this were one piece, yes i wouldn't know who Hodi, or Decken or princess or many others are. BUT I would still have recognized Zoro, Luffy, Usopp, Sanji, Chopper, Brook, Hatchi, and Jimbei who were all in this chapter.

Also I'm not saying the 4-5 or whatever Kage's they are are not important, though they are relatively new. But their attendants are not important at all. I do recal that chapter though and that attack, though did not care to learn his name. Just saw he was a black guy, thus a thunder nation, and saw his attacks. Actually as said earlier, thought he was the other black guy who thought flicking a pebble destroyed konoha. Again don't know his name. But what happened to those two? You know who else I don't know names of? Like 9/10th of the Whitebeard commanders. And doubt I'll ever learn them, but you know what Oda isn't doing? He isn't making them have spotlight and taking all important moments in the FINAL battle of the series. We didn't spend two chapters watching that shark dude or the shemale or many other commanders fighting. They were background noise essentially. When it comes to the end of One Piece we will be seeing the strawhats, we will be seeing Jimbei, we will be seing Hancock, Vivi, Croc, Marco, Shanks, Coby or whatever you name it. People that WE KNOW and are important. We aren't going to be reading 2 whole chapters dealing with Sweatpea fighting some NEW secret CP10 or something. We would see Hancock fighting lets say Smoker. Durai has shown to be a beast. He has become one of my favorite characters along with Kakashi/Sasuke. The way he uses the door everytime Raikage smashes a wall is funny. He was also given a general position.

We got two guys, never mentioned before in the manga, having weapons who also were never mentioned before despite actually being said to belong to a legendary ninja we heard off before (by the way, if those weapons actually existed, I don't really see how anyone would still say that guy himself is a legend, but no in the mood of pointing out plotholes). They also have kyubi chakra, with a fucking ridiculous explanation.
They fight three characters: one was made up on the spot, one got like one panel of screentime and one had a minor role in one very recent arc, also basically getting asspull powers never before hinted at. Instead of them fighting underused and actually developed side characters.
It's like Oda makes a never-mentioned before former Yonkou show up next chapter and let him fight Hodi or Kubo lets one of the main villains of the new arc fight that video-game kid and actually expect us to care despite barely knowing those characters. It's just fucking horrible and stupid.
Oda's war arc was completely different because the battles involved at least one character with well-etablished powers all the time or at least with hype and buildup for about one hundred chapters (Whitebeard). You can't really compare that because those are actually characters and not just asspull plot devices because Kishi needs to milk his manga as long as it still lasts or whatever came to his mind when he decided not to use actually popular characters for those battles.
There is also the possibility that Kishi was advised not to use old known characters, mainly because they wouldn't bring anything new to future battles technique-wise, but that's not really an excuse.
This war partly has gone wrong with focusing on characters we shouldn't care about as others mentioned. Kishi should have integrated Akatsuki somehow into the Rock country, and have the Rock country wage war on the Fire country alone, so we could have some simplicity, and clarity. We could have had interesting fights, dealing with territory gains/losses, new techniques being gained throughout each battle, dealing with death, espionage/stealth missions, etc. The potential is all lost to stupidity. I'll say it again, this war is incredibly confusing. We have ninja we don't care about fighting in the most bland environments, face to face. It's depressing and boring.
I've read spoilers. Don't know if they are true, but it seems Kishi decided to implement anime filler to the story quite a bit. You know with the Sora story?

How they got the kyuubi chakra wasn't clear. Raikage was going off a myth he heard. Just like people thought Sasuke defeated Zabuza. Stories get changed overtime. What the hell happened all of a sudden?
At least in the start of the war we were dealing with characters we cared about at least a bit. Sure, not many on here are big Sai fans, but at least we know who he is. Same for Kankuro. And we had opponents we knew like Sasori and then later Zabuza and Haku.
Now all of a sudden we've had like 3 or more chapters dealing with enemies and allies I don't give one damn about at all. What's more - the abilities being used here are incredibly stupid and ridiculous? Getting absorbed by chanting your catchphrase? The fuck? I realize this may be some sort of religious symbolism going over my head, but it's not very interesting at all.
not sure at all I like the idea of him being able to transform like that…anyway .. the fact that ginkaku got taken out like that makes me think that they were not that much without the weapon.. and its not supposed to be the case...

You got to realise your trying to defend Naruto on a Onepiece forum, where most of the fandom hates Naruto and most of the posts are insults to the manga rather then normal chapter discussion. If you think this is bad check out Narutoforums. Some of their topics have been digging Onepiece to the dirt lately. Though I will say Naruto's Fandom is a little ok.

I really dislike the weapons used the last two chapters. They are deus ex machinas, used only to dispense of the two newly created characters. How bad is that? I just hope they are not further used later on. You'd think Kabuto would hold on to such valuable weapons.
