If you read the actual Hulu blog post they went though the Top 10 they choose and why. It is actually 11 but I guess their reason for 11 is good enough. If anything more One Piece the better.

The episode kinda dragged, but I did like some parts here and there (Ace thanking WB for one).
The Buggy filler was horribly out of place, and the fisting was…okay.

although im not gonna lie that buggy filler was stating to get old and plus it just throws off the whole mood, from something that was supposed to be emotional.
but then again, what manga to anime adaptation is perfect? anyways moving on, next weeks episode is looking to be really good, im more interested in seeing this arc get wrapped up.

Yeah, I agree. The Hancock fillers during the war were far worse than this and the end of the episode was amazing. No seriously, I can't stop rewatching it.
Hancock's "fillers" were more or less where they had actually been in the manga, and with only one or two added. The longest one in particular that I can think of is Luffy and Hancock running through the field towards each other, but it was during a canon scene at least.
Buggy just randomly pops up with his posse every other episode rather consistently whether they showed up in the manga or not.
I love him to pieces still, but that doesn't mean I'm happy about the animator's choices to use him so much and so often either.
It's not that I don't like Buggy and Hancock and the Buggy filler in this episode wasn't that bad IMO, but it was too long. Episodes 469 and 470 had Hancock's daydreams that didn't entertain me at all while on the other hand the ones before ID were actually entertaining to me. Marineford is slow paced but I still enjoy it. Hell, ID was even slower and I enjoyed that too. I even rewatched it a few times.

And when this manga closes out, and Luffy's arm stretches back to deliver that last punch, I wanna feel the crunch of the dream coming true.

dedication? anyways while this arc may not be the best animated (something im sure we can all agree to some extent) we still need to remember it doesn't always go perfect, its always gonna muck up somewhere.

The Hancock filler have been on and off with me. Also I hope this doesn't make me sound like a perv or anything but usually when the filler involves Hancock have a 'boob moment' as seen here, then it tends to be good Hancock filler. haha

I tend to rewatch certain anime episodes every so often. If anything because of the DVDs I have watch the series at once twice or maybe it should be once since I never watch majority of Season 1 correctly due to 4Kids. It does get kind of bad if I am looking for screenshots from certain episodes. I am planning to rewatch the last four episodes with my little brother since he would go crazy seeing what has happen. Though the craziest I gone with rewatching was last week when Funi uploaded Episode 182 and I ended up watching that like three times because it is a personal favorite of mines.

They managed to jerk some tears out of my face even with knowing spoilers. It's really earth-shattering to see Luffy in such a vulnerable state, not to mention how heart-rending the entire second half is with the twist-the-knife flashbacks to Ace's troubled childhood.
Oda sure has some brass balls to give all this emotional backstory right at the end, I must give him props for that.
My wife commented about how her favorite character in any show we watch always gets the boot in a tragic way, and once again I see her hypothesis holds up.

There was, actually. It was just this special kind of thing made around the time the anime was in Skypiea or so. Luffy and Goku teamed up to fight Eneru. It took up many screens and was in a whole room… I don't know how else I can describe it.
You're talking about that amusement park attraction. I forgot what it was called. I've seen videos of it on YouTube.

This week's episode was much better than the last. Some filler-ish moments, but great animation and overall, a good episode.
It looks like Funimation said "screw Viz's translation choices" and called Blackbeard "Teach" at the end of 484. Good.

Because Viz's "Oh Come My Way" spilled into the Simulcast Subs, because of Viz. It's surprising they didn't use "Teech" because they supposedly had to use Viz terms since the Simulcast was a "Joint venture between Funimation, Viz, and Toei".
Many assume that these "Viz terms" will be changed once the DVDs of these episodes are eventually released.
Plus, earlier Simulcast episodes spelled it "Teech". That's why I'm surprised they went with the correct spelling here.

It's obvious they've been stretching this arc out to give Oda more time to get progress in the manga for the next season, as this entire arc has felt extremely padded. I just feel kind of done with it, and am looking forward to them moving things along to the time-skip (it just feels like it's going through the motions until then).

Yeah. That is what I felt like too when I was reading the manga as well. It felt kind of slow. So right now you are feeling what most people felt after-Ace a year ago.
Personally I feel that the anime pacing right is much faster and more things are happening compare to what was going on in the manga for this part. Maybe because the pictures are moving. haha
