Great Chapter, don't know how I'll survive without another chapter next week :(
Chapter 604: "Into the Depths" Discussion
-
-
@Xai:
I know. But Luffy specifically said "It's old man Whitebeard" and it seemed like he was waving. I am assuming that he saw the white whale, and mistook it for Moby Dick - which is just like Luffy.
However, Luffy knows very well that Whitebeard was dead. He even went to Marineford to apparently pay homage (but in actuallity, to send secret message to his crew) to the fallen pirates. So why would he say "it's whitebeard" and wave?
it might be a play on the legend of when one dies they become part of the sea, who knows it is luffy we are talking about
-
Loved the chapter, as always xD Lol-ed when Luffy and Zoro started conversing about that sword game and fire swords xD And also when they were just talking about how far they flew. I really wanted to know what they did during the timeskip too >< But ohwell, I guess Oda will hold that for later :) The pace the chapters are going at are good, and the front cover was awesome! I like the angle of the picture too, how if it were a photo, the camera would be pointing diagonally down at them.
Chapter was great and funny xD ONE PIECE IS AWESOME!!!

Nami mentions the word "Salinity", which is "enbun noudo" in Japanese.
Luffy doesn't know what it is, but pretends he does by saying "oh yeah salinity, right, I used to play that when I was a kid"
And Zoro misheard "en(salt)bun noudo" as "en(fire)bun node" and said "I've always wanted a fire node", again not knowing what he's talking about. It's a Japanese play on words.
thank you for the clarification blue beard I was confused on this since the chapter came out :D
-
It shouldn't be insect like at all, except for the more organic architecture. The flutes, funnels, fans and globe structures of sea sponges should allow for limitless diversity by Oda and his design team.
It would be like, say, a wasp's nest in terms of being a larger superstructure that consists of multiple smaller hollows, but the arrangement and size of each of those smaller structures would be a lot more diverse.
Your requests are always worthy of a moments time.
Thanks, and cheers.
Hopefully, this case isn't as much of a mockery of Halloweentown as TB was.
Oh, no, that's not what I meant – not Halloween-style campy-scary-goth, we've had that twice recently actually: TB and Mihawk's island.
I mean more that kind of quiet, desolate creepiness. Like if you've ever been in the desert after dark, where there's nothing for miles around and this sort of luminous haze from distant city lights and stars. It makes you feel really small and insignificant.
But in a good way.
After reading this chapter I feel educated … It feels as if Oda is making a documentary....
Yep. A fun way to learn interesting things about the ocean. (but shhhhh! don't tell that to the folks who are still arguing about bounties …) ;)
Meaning the last ones to pass were the supernova…
Nice! Now I hope that's true.
ultimateclima – thanks for the props, but let me extend that to DonQ, too. Much of what I came up with was based on his ideas originally.
It fits better with his dirty tactics, but I definitely think he's a lot less scared than he's letting on.
Agreed. It will be interesting to see if the SH's tactician (Sanji) can second guess him. Usopp seems to suspect lies already.

Ah, I've been in such situations before. You really get to admire nature for what it is and has become. Taking slow walks outside in the middle of the night is really relaxing, in my opinion.
Oda, it may sound a bit irrational, but I hope you can get every single panel in the soon-to-come chapters at FI to look grandiose and inspiring. You've kept your readers waiting for the place for so long; I trust you can make it worth the wait!
…Too bad he can't hear my request.

Oda has just spoken to me in a dream and told me to tell you that it shall be done. He also told me that the Kraken & Caribou will be the next nakamas.

I'm undecided on my view on caribou, although i would like a logia in the crew. The Kracken would be AWESOME in the crew, though its soooo massive i couldn't exactly see it working; though i want to. It would also be a good contender to fight with San Juan Wolf

This was my reaction as I read your post (really):
:w00t: -> :wassat: -> -
Can't wait to see this in the anime :)
-
Theory…
kraken will be the guardian of fishman island
Caribou is the repented sinner, will be the Chaplin of the strawhat crew
then caribou and kuma showdown

I hope Oda do a 3 chapters on an issue sometimes.
-
ugh these caribou for nakama ideas are bothersome. he's a frikken nutjob and murderer. can't see him fitting the SH at all. plus he looked at nami pervertedly. -16 points for that

Like Sanji and Brook don't do that already.
-
It doesn't look like Luffy wants him to be his nakama though.
I can't believe this guy has a higher bounty than half of the supernovas. He's acting like a low bounty pirate would.
-
Like Sanji and Brook don't do that already.

I agree, and I'm not a Caribou supporter in the very least, but saying that a character can't join cause he's a pervert is a bit silly when we already have two on the crew. There are far better reasons to argue against Caribou.

i just have a lust for nami lawl. but besides that, caribou just creeps me out. his tongue and eyes are just too creepy. i wonder what he's gonna do.
-
Come on guys, caribou can always get a makeover.
-
Yeah ans Caribou wills imply abadon his brother and the crew… even if they will come back to save him
-
@Mr.:
Come on guys, caribou can always get a makeover.
If he keeps looking at Nami the same way, I'm sure Sanji will give him one :ninja:
-
What I don't get… If Caribou is that scared of the Kraken... How did he want to sail to FI in the first place?
-
OMG!
Chopper: we should give him rehabilitation with low intensity photos
hahahahahhaahhahahaahahhaahah! funniest comment ever!!!!!!
I agree. Everyone is talking about the joke with Brooke but this one is the one that really made me laugh. Chopper is not that innocent
-

Why not? Duval's satisfied.

I can't believe this guy has a higher bounty than half of the supernovas. He's acting like a low bounty pirate would.
I find it more plausible in how he reacts. I don't think everyone with a high bounty should be jaded. Not everyone has seen all the fantastical and horrifying things the SH have seen. And even some of them freaked out a bit at the size of the Krakken.
Also he seems to be a passionate type of guy. Not a character that really forces himself to hide an emotion. So I think that he freaked out some cause he had a plan in mind, and it fell apart so suddenly. He seems to know his strengths and weaknesses. Like knowing he could not take on a Krakken underwater with the type of power he has. And so he might just be playing more cowardly than his is because he has to change his strategy.
But it's still pretty early. Who knows where this will all lead.
-
What I don't get… If Caribou is that scared of the Kraken... How did he want to sail to FI in the first place?
He said something like the SH's should return for the time being and try to go to FI since the Kraken may gone by that time … so I guess he had waited as long as the Kraken was there. (or he just said that to get back to his crew and he really has so much power to kick that Kraken's ass)

I have enjoyed this chapter much more on a second read threw (I read it some hours ago when I woke up).
· Love the color spread however, Robin's tiny foot keeps bothering me. Still, awesome.
· I seriously love every single shot of the crew and Sunny underwater. It's just too cool. It's one of those things you just can't wait to see animated (if done right).
· The Caribou Pirates vs The Straw Hat Pirates underwater battle was anti-climactic. However, it was very funny. I hope Oda does not plan on making Caribou much more than he is (I must admit he is growing on be a bit though).
· I can't believe the people were right last week about Mo-Moo's return. Sight for sore eyes she is. Is it me or does she look much smaller and cuter the before? Guess that is just relative to the newer and huger creatures we have now seen in the OPverse.
· As many others have said this does seem to foreshadow an Arlong return which I think is awesome (hopefully he has leaned some new tricks as well by putting the last 2 plus years to good use - I don't want to see Arlong-fodder).
· I know a lot people are tired of the Sanji's overly bloody nose gag but it still got a laugh out of me. It will get tiresome with time and if it is still used virtually every chapter but for now I still like it and I think Oda will know when to tone it down.
· Brook bringing his 'A' game in humor again. Chopper interrupting him was gold.
· Nami's explanation about the underwater sea currents was informative.
· I hope the things Brook were saying about 'ghosts' and 'lost souls' at the very bottom of the ocean is not another segue off the course to FI. If anything I hope it just plays a part in the FI arc. Which we all want Oda. All of us.
· "So mysterious see currents exist, huu?" Too damn funny.
· Last two pages were epic! Kraken in One Piece! Kraken in One Piece! Finally! I have a feeling that-that huge ass Kraken will play a part in the FI arc similar to past arc's that have huge creatures to help the epic feel of it all. (i.e. Giant Snake on Skypiea, Oz at Triller Bark, The Giant Sea Horse twins at Enies Lobby and to a lesser extent Mo-Moo at Arlong Park.)
· Another break. NOoOoOo! I am fine with it actually. I just pray to god that Oda is not turning into Togashi.Overall this chapter was not quite as energetic and fun as it's immediate predecessors from the last couple of weeks but there is still a lot of material to be enjoyed here. I look at it this way. As a chapter that I had waited very impatiently for all week I could have enjoyed it a bit more but in the grand scheme of things it will only be one (very informative)chapter out of ten or eleven in a volume on my shelf. It was a necessary addition to the flow of the current story line to explain some things and retrospectively it is a very good chapter. Also, a freaking kraken!
-
What I don't get… If Caribou is that scared of the Kraken... How did he want to sail to FI in the first place?
He never expected to meet a Kraken on the way.
-
So, is Luffy going to use the Kraken for "advanced navigation"?
Kraken for Crewmate!
-
@Del:
So, is Luffy going to use the Kraken for "advanced navigation"?
Kraken for Crewmate!
Kraken will be recruited to fight San Juan Wolf when they eventually have their fated confrontation. True story.
-
@Xai:
What does Luffy mean by "used to play salinity as kids" ? Is it a pun like Zoro mistaking it for "fire sword"? Or is there some game called "Salinity"?
Why does Luffy mistake the whale for Moby Dick?
luffy doesnt know what hes saying, hes just pretending to know what nami is saying
-
kraken be a good guard for the ship as well then they don't need to leave people at the ship to guard it

Is there a reason for altering your text colour and font?

Is there a reason for altering your text colour and font?
initially yes. I usually type things up in word and copy/paste them on here. For whatever reason my posts look odd when I do this but by adding a color it makes them look normal. Now, I am just used to doing it and it makes my posts stand out and it makes it easy to see if someone quoted me.
This is what something looks like pasted from Word. It is probably easy to fix but I am a computer tard. I don't even know if it looks weird on other computers but on mine it does.
-
I havent read a single post in this thread. I just read the chaper and I thought id point a few things out that I like and what not. :)
1. HAHAHA @ Luffy refering to Whitebeard as a whale cause he saw his ship the Moby Dick.
2. I read somewhere where someone pointed out that a shadow object in the background of the sea resembled mohmoo, or however his name is spelled.
At first I thought it was a very long shot since it was just a black blur in the background, but whoever made that find. Real nice job! :D
I am however a little disapointed that he hadnt changed apearance at all. Not shown any sign of growth or anything. But I dont really care about him, so ill let it slide ;D.3. Has anyone else noticed how every single member of Caribou's crew is fat? Like… Blobb like fat... Is it just the way he recruits? Fat blobb people? OR!
I know this might not belong in this thread, but im going to discuss my thought on this.
Maybe Caribou has a fat-fat fruit, haha! Its ridiculous I know, but I thought it might be fitting to his stupid crew and the look of his power. If it is a FAT logia, it would be hilarious, even tho im not sure it would work. Maybe someone could lecture me on this? ;p Fat.. grease.. something like that.4. The Caribou crew has a moose infront of their ship? Maybe its just the design of the ship, or its something relevant to the crew.
5. Haha, hillarious scene when Caribou realizes he's the only crew member that managed to get over to the SH's ship!
6. I havent thought about till now. But on the first panel on page 10 you can clearly see that Caribou has a C shaped beard. Cool detail ^^.. And arrrgh, he's so sleezy! Just get rid of him already :(((..
7. Chopper is cute, doesnt understand a thing. So easily manipulated. :x
"Eeeh, its all lies?"8. Sanji is just 2 great. Getting pissed at Caribou for the way he looks at Nami, kicking him in the face, then turning over and see's Nami. Poor Sanji, it sure is becoming a problem for him losing alot of blood whenever he sees a attractive woman.
9. Haha, Chopper ruined Brooks joke :)..
10. I couldnt help but laugh when Luffy asked about "the other prerequisit".
Then when Nami asks him if he wants to know about it she mentions another word and Luffy just drifts off thinking he played "that game" as a child.11. FINALLY! Mysterious!! :D
12. Haha @ Zoro already forgetting that Caribou is on the ship :D..
13. Great ending. Hoping Luffy will do something cool. Not sure how he's going to do anything under the Sea though.
Now for last. When will the next chapter be released? It says at the last page, but I dont know what "jump 52" means. :(..
-
Chapter was pretty good. My favorite part was the return of the Mysterious line. That was too funny along with there content faces while saying it. Also chopper stealing Brooks joke and Brooks reaction to it was too funny. Wonder where Oda is going with Caribou thing? Too bad there is a break but looking forward to next chapter as always.

^^Eterenal Flame^^
Any special meaning to your avatar. I just finished HxH vol 16 today and your avatar is the next one I need to pick up (or rather order online and wait impatiently for like a week and half for the freaking book to arrive.)
Is it a particularly good volume are anything? -
I have the avatar more for the fact I like the series and Killua is my favorite character rather than for the actual content of the volume.
Edit: Just so I'm somewhat on topic. Like some mentioned in the spoiler thread. (I haven't really read all this thread yet.) Maybe the kraken is related to what was in thriller bark in the fog. Could of changed location in the two years. That would be pretty interesting.
-
Is there a ahogie trans if not can we get one
-
Don, I didn't mean to imply that the sponges created the hole, so much as took advantage of it. The only other confirmed mention of a sea passage through the Red Line is that North Blue fish that sanji caught at Loguetown.
Okay, when they didn
t create it your prediction, it sounds much better now for me. But wasn
t the elefanttuna, Sanji got in Loguetown, more a confirmation of the existence of the AllBlue, where every kind of fish gathers and so can come to every Blue ,even when those Blues are seperated.
Indicates for me that AllBlue lies somewhere near the end of the NW.
But as you say, maybe the AllBlue is a second hole in the redline…could also imagine some connection with the underwater currents we discovered right now.Fishmen do have a fairly awesome sense of style after all (Tom, Crimin, the stylized tattoos)
That only happened because Pappaq thought he`s a human:happy:
But that they could work a lot with their surrounding nature sure is plausible.I mean more that kind of quiet, desolate creepiness. Like if you've ever been in the desert after dark, where there's nothing for miles around and this sort of luminous haze from distant city lights and stars. It makes you feel really small and insignificant.
Kind of shitty to have now such an awesome location in our minds, getting now anything else but that makes it look like…kind of bad.
But my “OP gets now a bit darker”-prediction would absolutely prefer the gloomy city so Oda..JUST MAKE IT TRUE.Yep. A fun way to learn interesting things about the ocean. (but shhhhh! don't tell that to the folks who are still arguing about bounties …) ;)
Hey, lets discuss who may join even without any hints :whistling:
-
Thanks for clearing up the confusion on salinity.
One person said they thought the Sanji nosebleed was getting old, I don't think so.
I love that if you look at the picture close enough you see Sanji laying down in the background. He has bags of blood hooked up to an IV. -
I think Law's Bear crew memeber has some of the coolest clothing.
I really want to see this animated. FUNimation Blurays shall make this scene amazing (Sugei!) -

:wassat:gross!!So far the best bets on his fruit are for me
1)Mud-mud-Fruit (logia) -also the sound effects pointing towards this
2) plastic-fruit (paramecia) - -
Is there a reason for altering your text colour and font?
he can do whatever he likes and i can read his post just fine nothing wrong with it.
if you hated his post so much you why did you quote him?
back on topic: i hope caribou pisses his pants when luffy tames the kraken
-
This chapter had a Skypiea feeling to me. I'm starting to think the Fishman Island arc will be quite long.
And Arlong is coming back O oh, man! I know it will sound REALLY weird, but I always found Arlong (along with pre-time skip Franky) to be the sexiest man in OP. Oh well…
And Cariboo... people already going "Cariboo for nakama"? Just asking.
-

Or that they have that funny little quirk to burry alive their victims.
