General Sonic the Hedgehog Thread (Now With Movie 3 & Knuckles)
-
Sounds a bit high.
-
Let's stop making Sonic Riders games, SEGA. Mmkay?
You didn't get it right the first, second, or third time.
-
The only hope for salvation is Sonic Trainwreck.
-
Under Sega's new policy of taking low rated games off the shelves, the new Sonic Riders should be recalled a day before its release, apparently.
-

KUkukuku.
I'd rather buy it for 10 cents and use the disc as a drink coaster.
-
I find that hilarious because the local K-Mart (where i will start work at next week) will not carry it :D
-
The original Sonic Riders was one of the worst games I've ever played so I can't even imagine what it's like on the Kinect. Constantly crashing into walls must feel even worse when you're waving your arms spastically.
-
But I liked the first Sonic Riders.
Yes, I am a masochist.
-
I…how?
I can understand getting past the terrible story but didn't the gameplay make you want to kill a kitten? What with the bad controls, the stupid mechanics and the fact all of the AI are much faster than you.
-
It was fun… I liked the air mechanic.
Then again, it was a tedious mess when played alone...
-
But I liked the first Sonic Riders.

Same. Amazingly. I don't know why.
Guess cause I had family.
But Zero gravity…not enough words to express unhappiness.
-
Me playing Riders:
Okay, this is fun, this is fun, this is-WAIT WHAT THE HELL THAT FUCKING DUCK JUST RAMMED ME OFF THE DAMN COURSEFFGHGHGHGHGHGHHGKKHKGHKG
Repeat ten times.

slowly placed back onto the stage
Alright, I'm back! I'm so going to win this ga~
knocked off the stage by the person who was in last place
Repeat ten times.
Fixed.
Seriously….my God...
-
Zero Gravity's gear change mechanism was fun.
-
Ibought Sonic Riders… and on the same day, a used copy of Tony Hawk 3 for... 3 dollars?
Played Sonic Riders for two, maybe three hours. Switched over to Tony Hawk. Ended up spending five hours just enjoying the training room, and then for weeks after. And a couple more games after that.
Sonic Riders has been sitting on the shelf, completely untouched since the day it was bought.
-
Tony Hawk 3 is the best legitimately good game that makes you feel like a douchebag for saying you played it.
-
I remember playing Tony Hawk 64. Good times. Especially with cheats :sideways: . Too bad the ROM (at least the last time I checked) doesn't work right  .
And Sonic Riders is an on rail skateboard racing game? Sounds lame.
-
I just thought of the most evil thing. A first person perspective option for 3D sonic games.
Do it if you hate humanity Sega.
-
They've been doing that since Sonic heroes though.
-
The fangame Sonic Roboblast 2 is played in the first person perspective. Outside of the controls being a bit too sensitive it's kind of fun.
-
Sonic Roboblast 2 is 3D Sonic at its worst.
-
They've been doing that since Sonic heroes though.
No they havent?
I've never seen a first person camera option in any version of Heroes
-
It is there.
,,,,,,,,,,,

Dear God the vertigo.

If you zoom in the camera to a certain point, it'll allow you to play in first-person for a bit.
-
Not that this will change anyone's opinions on this, but this is from a person whose played the game on a forum I frequent:
But I think this accurately sums up the gameplay. I find that the Drill is my favorite wisp; I'm in love with the loud, banging hardcore techno music that plays when you use it! It sounds kinda like something
I really enjoy using it and discovering new places, collect rings, avoiding the drill emenies (or failing and hitting them!), and finding wisps. If you ever thought that this game was remotely lacking in platforming and exploration, then you are totally WRONG. Nor is this game merely "boost to win". It's not a Sonic Unleashed Day Stage, it's MUCH more. You probably won't even have the urge to boost, I didn't. Granted I had to ask the person there how to use the boost but when he told me, it didn't come off as something that I REALLY needed to do. This IS NOT "Sonic the race car", I assure you.
This is actually my second time playing Colors. The first time I was at Comic Con and I just kinda went through it. I didn't grasp the controls so all I could say was that it was fun. However now that I'm able to play the game decently (at best… XD), I can see how well made it is.
If you've been on the fence, hop off of it. It's great. Seriously. Buy this game!! I will!!
Also, IGN's given it an 8.5: http://wii.ign.com/articles/113/1132902p1.html
6i2z761q9PANot that anyone really cares about them but still, they normally give the sonic games bad scores…
Awaits stuff about people liking mediocrity and automatic levels, ect.
Eh, I tried. shrugs It may not be 100% like the classics, but it seems to be holding it's own anyway.
Edit: they gave the DS version the same score: http://ds.ign.com/articles/113/1132901p1.html

Some of the lines that Eggman says over the P.A. over the course of the game. Apparently, the script was written by the same people who wrote MadWorld, so that's a good thing.
-
Why Is There A Script

@JERK:

It's there, just get over it.
-
I'll get the DS version very soon. Too bad I don't own a Wii.

@Ferno:

Not caring what the IGN guy says (why is high difficulty bad…), but the footage shown looks pretty dam good. Gonna get it sometime next year, after some price drops.
-
The same guys as MADWORLD?! Seriously?!
Damn, I am both confused and interested at the same time…

Well it doesn't seem to be Platinum games itself, but if it's true about the writers from Madworld I don't know what to think.

Haha, yes, "get over it" why this whole thread could use your wonderful advice butthurt sonic fan who sees no issue in scripts for mascot games.
-
There are no issues. If it's good, then I don't see a problem. And if it's bad, it's not hard to skip cutscenes.
-

It seems to be true, from what I've read.

http://www.kotaku.com.au/2010/06/sonic-colors-sends-a-hedgehog-into-marios-space/While I didn't get to see any story aspects of Sonic Colors, Izuka and US producer Patrick Reilly mentioned that American writers (whose previous credits include Madworld – yes, that Madworld) have been hired to create a story for the game that both adults and kids can get into.
-
One thing to say about Colors, the music is just awesome. Best in Sonic history in my opinion.

Sonic Colors is basically a remake of this, right?

yawn.
are you getting bored of saying this over and over because I'm certainly getting bored of reading it.
This game looks awesome, I'm gonna try and pick it up next week. Cool about the Madworld writer doing bits for this. That'll be cool to hear.
-
I must say the game looks really cool. I will probably buy the DS version though the wii version seems to be better.
-
yawn.

So you're excited by mediocrity then?
Unless you'll be the first one to confirm that any of the problems with the old games have actually been fixed that I've addressed dozens of times and gotten no response to?

Holy shit Little Nemo. Massive nostalgia attack.
-
Little nemo is better then any sonic game in the last 15 years.
-
Is it that time again where we don't talk about Sonic
This is my favorite part of the thread
What was everybody's favorite Little Nemo level

I only watched the movie .

It's a good movie too

While I haven't listened to that yet, it kind of goes without saying that most music in the Sonic series is usually good.
It's like saying that I bought this shitty salsa, but at least it's spicy.

The one with toys. Because it had toys.

Well, let's nip this problem in the bud!
puts on headset
press play! …......
attacked by random blaring horns
semi-decent beach guitar attacked by more blaring horns
! Please don't take offense to this but...
! .....The blaring horns have no rhythm. It sounds like something a crappy high school corus band would come up with.
! And the guitar doesn't save the song. It's like they took a random guitar riff from Lilo and Stitch (when Stitch plays the guitar), dumbed it down, and then added the horns from The Gullwings March from Final Fantasy X-2, only MUCH WORSE.
! >! XszEp9paNqA
! I'll admit that it's nice to hear songs that you can actually remember, but the horns….my God the horns....
! At least, Act 2's guitar riff sounds better. And Act 3's guitar and bass are pretty sexy.
! >! c9yhF-hQl0Y
! The horns are still pretty annoying though.
