So, a war where Canada attacked the US doesn't matter when considering if Canada has ever gotten into a war?

Canada wasn't independent before or after that war, we were fighting Great Britain at the time, not Canada. So as far as Redspear's logic is concerned, Canada hasn't fought a war defending its own soil. However, it has taken part in numerous foreign expeditions such as the second war in Iraq.
However, One Piece Episode 472 is out, and it kind of rocks. Or rather, it really rocks.
I was honestly a little worried in the first couple of minutes of 472 with how much it was dragging out, but it turned out to be an excellent episode. And now I think the beginning worked well to build up tension. Whitebeard definitely owned this episode, I must say. Not that he didn't in the corresponding chapter, but I really appreciated it more animated for some reason.

Actually Your both right. I wasn't being serious i'm just trying to have fun.
Episode wasn't half bad.
-Sweet cap for the episode title.
-Heh, I always liked the black specs floating around the screen whenever something huge and dramatic happened. (no joke)
-Holy heck everyone's reaction face is epic (Moria's had to be the best)
-Marco pounding Squardo was kinda cool.
-Wario pirate appears again!
-Squardo flashback filler….wasn't TOO bad....I guess.....
-Man, Akainu's voice pwns.
-"Big buggy"......that really confused me for a bit.
-What's with the "old buddy" on Funi's subs? Shouldn't it be Pops? Far be from me to correct a professional dub and sub company, but......
-Holy crap, lazy Aokiji speeds into action! o_0
-Croc steals the spotlight once more, with yelling at WB. :D
-Wow.....WB yelling at Squardo then hugging him with tears.....was done really well.
-Ending was epic and touching.

Time for someone to go poke Funi with a stick again and remind them that they need a proofreader.
Fucking awesome episode!
The tempo was built up so much towards the end and then Whitebeard jumps into the fray, MEGA!
The next ep is going to have to do a lot compete with the last half of 472.
big buggy is everyone's complaint
Yeah, I have to wonder if 'Big buggy' was the typesetter's mistake or Mato's.
I'd have preffered if they'd use 'pops/old man' instead of 'old buddy'. Heck, even 'old pal' would've worked.
Just watched. Reaction:
O_O EPIC HUG!!!!!!!! They should have done the EPIC sound effect and come at the hug from different angles!
All in all, good ep. It was a little stretched out but I guess it needed to be, the betrayal thing needed explanation/time to sink in.
I feel so bad for Squard :( Oh man, what a thing to live with for the rest of your life. I know what that feeling's like, it sucks so bad that that terrible scream of agony he had is acceptable, lol. Honestly though, deceived by the enemy to stab fricken Whitebeard? I wonder if they
! cut out the part where Whitebeard says "this wound is nothing" to increase the emotions of shock of Whitebeard being stabbed, or if it'll happen in the next ep.
Adrenaline rush when Whitebeard jumps into the fray! Makes me want to start punching and kicking people all wildly.
The only part i wish they'd had kept was when whitebeard said "you couldn't kill me if you wanted to"
The only part i wish they'd had kept was when whitebeard said "you couldn't kill me if you wanted to"
Yeah that's what i'm talking about. terrible memory for exact dialogue I agree. Perhaps it'll happen in the next ep.
-Holy heck everyone's reaction face is epic (Moria's had to be the best)
I actually laughed so hard when I saw that.
It was a little dragged out though. Usually when something shocking happens it's like:
DUN!faceflashDUN!faceflashDUN!faceflash
This time it was like 10 seconds per face, lol.
Very good episode tonight. Although these were the slower parts of this arc for me. At least the end payoff will be well worth it.
I only have three words to say about tonight's episode:
FULL OF WIN. FULL OF WIN. FULL OF WIN. FULL OF WIN. FULL OF WIN. FULL OF WIN. FULL OF WIN. FULL OF WIN. FULL OF WIN. FULL OF WIN. FULL OF WIN. FULL OF WIN. FULL OF WIN. FULL OF WIN. FULL OF WIN. FULL OF WIN. FULL OF WIN. FULL OF WIN. FULL OF WIN. FULL OF WIN. FULL OF WIN. FULL OF WIN. FULL OF WIN. FULL OF WIN. FULL OF WIN. FULL OF WIN. FULL OF WIN. FULL OF WIN. FULL OF WIN. FULL OF WIN. FULL OF WIN.
EDIT: Okay, I have a few more words to say. After I come home on friday nights after work, I take my wireless mouse, sit on my bed, and watch the new episode while having something to eat. While watching the episode the following exclamations are usually made:
-WOAAAAAAAAAAAAAH-HO-HOOOOOAH O_O
-YEEEESS!!! RUNNN!!! =D!!!
-KILL HIMMMM YESSSSSSS >=D
-BOOOOOOOOOOOM!
-WHAT A JERK xO!
-PUNCH HIM IN THE FAAAAACE!!!
-DIEEEE DIEEEEEEEE!!! >=D
-and various goosebumpy minutes with a huge smile on my face.
Tonight's episode had copious amounts of these. And a few new ones!
I wish they'd shown the first few pages of 565. Personally, I think
! Whitebeard saying "Sorry" to the Moby Dick after it gets destroyed or the Supernovas heading to Marinefordwould have made for a better ending. That's just me being a picky bastard, though. Anyway, the episode itself was really good. Though, (in the anime) you have to wonder where in Marineford John Giant's been hiding all this time…
Finally, the moment I was waiting for. I love that last scene.
Yet another beautifully animated episode. I really hope this keeps up until the end of the war.
The only bad shot was Moria…. he looked weirder than normal.
Pretty good episode.
-Hey, Apoo's seiyuu voices Kon from Bleach.
-Woot, the Supernovas!
-Akainu shooting lava at everything was really well done. 0_0
-Whitebeard's quake attack was awesome.
-Amazing animation.
-Whitebeard's freaking pissed that the Moby Dick was attacked.
-Nothing like Luffy showing off his anger.
-Jimbei was drawn…..badly. XD
-Poor Oars Jr.
-You don't mess with Kizaru, that crazy bastard....
-Loling at the Admirals faces, they're like "oh shit, water!" XD
-Hm, everyone's faces just looked....weird, when Luffy landed. Especially Garp.
-Great ending scene.
I'm beginning to think that there's only a handful of faithfuls who are still watching funimation's subs. Probably to do with the overall lower quality of translation.
What do you mean by lower quality translations?
I watch Fansubs but that is because they upload sooner and my computer gets choppy with the higher quality streams. I will be purchasing OP DVDs soon though.
What do you mean by lower quality translations?
The translations being of lower quality and precision. Example? Whitebeard was called "Old Buddy" (or was it "Big Buddy") by the New World captains and his crew, in one episode.
I'm beginning to think that there's only a handful of faithfuls who are still watching funimation's subs. Probably to do with the overall lower quality of translation.
Yeah, I've noticed that complaint too.
shrugs It's still a legal, fast, and free sub of the OP anime. I personally think that outweighs the somewhat lower translation quality, but I do agree it should be better. However, I doubt it'll be the same when the DVDs come out.
legal = good enough for me.

I'm actually under the impression that a great number of people still do use it.
I do, and I've never ,even for one second, thought of going back to fansubs. FUNimation makes a few obvious errors here and there, but they're not a big deal.
I don't know Japanese, though, so the less obvious errors I'm going to miss. Still fansubs were just as bad.
I still watch the Funi subs.
I've stopped watching the Funi Subs because I've stopped watching the anime. The pacing just became too annoying. So I've been just reading the manga.
Remember guys, next week we get the episodes 1 hour earlier because Japan does not do daylight savings time.

sweet. thanks for the reminder
At this rate, I'm going to be relieved once you-know-who kicks the bucket, so I won't have to hear his name get mangled five hundred kajillion times per episode. Just say it, "EEEEEEEIIII-Su" instead of "EEEEEIII-SUUUUUUU." Is it that hard? I suspect FUNi might have some trouble with lip-flaps once they get this far.
This one thing has been kinda annoying (maybe it's just me), but the Marineford War arc has been pretty good on the whole so far. Really looking forward to all the craziness still set to occur in its second half.

Seeing how they translated "Usopp-AHHHHHHHhhh!!", they might just translate the AccceeeSUUUUUU to ACCCCCEEE- rrrRRAAAAAGGGHH! As in screaming after yelling "Ace!!!"
…Though that would get weird after awhile.
Also, I hope they change the "GGGKKKGHHGHGHKKH" to simple moans and groans. I just can't picture the gkkkgkgkgkggkgkkkghhd's in the English version.
What do you mean by lower quality translations?
Being as FUNimation is releasing this Simulcast only one hour after the release in Japan, there are some proofreading errors.
There are pretty much never any actual outright wrong translations (barring some very few oddities like "Old Buddy")
It's usually just a grammatical mistake that your mind can easily correct like. "Everybody, run for the door of the Prison!" will appear as "Everybody, Run for the door of Prison!"
It doesn't actually appear to be some kind of translation error so much as they just don't have the time to proofread it. But it's nowhere near jarring enough to stop enjoyment of watching the series.
Basically: Some people just make a big deal out of it, but it's not anything major. If the DVD subtitles looked like this, and thus we were paying $30-$50 (depending on where you go) and were getting these kinds of subs, there'd be reason to be unhappy, but for a completely free and Legal version of the show that you can watch LITERALLY only ONE HOUR after the Japanese broadcast. It's really goddamn good.
Plus, while this has a few odd little grammar mistakes, it's nowhere NEAR as annoying as "FlAsHy AnNoYiNg AtTaCk EfFeCtS". Seriously, why the fuck do Fansubbers even do that shit?! What does it accomplish to draw attention away from the action even more than subtitles already do?! Or "Lol, we're lazy in a DIFFERENT way because we can't come up with good translations for 10% of the Japanese words in this show"
Demon, thank you very much. Do these errors still exist in the DVDs?
I won't really mind the issues while watching online.
I proofread enough things that I read it like it should be,
not how it is. But are these issues also in the DVDs?

"GOMU GOMU NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO~"
Me: I can't see what's happening dammit! >:U
What about Usopp Spell? Or when the song is playing they have the letters sway back and forth?

I've watched a lot of the DVDs dubbed, and haven't watched too much of the Subs (when I do watch them in Japanese, I prefer to watch them Raw when available, and on the DVDs they are)
But I've yet to read about anyone mentioning any errors on the Season DVDs. though I do remember someone saying there was something wrong with at least One Line from Movie 8.
Also, I just watched the "Old Buddy" episode, and I think I know what happened with that.
Moronic as it was to chose that particular phrase, I think I see what they were doing. Rewatch it. (or take my word for it) Every one of the allies calls him "Old Buddy!" but Marco calls him "Pops" clearly in that episode. I think that particular proofreader was trying to make it so the Whiteberds called him "Pops" and the Allies were the ones to use "Old buddy".
Moronic as it was, at least it makes sense to me now…
I always watch with the subs on the dvds, haven't seen a problem so far.
The quality is still pretty good. Although I wish the war would move just a little bit faster.

Honestly, Toei has like a year of manga to cover, they could pick up the pace a bit.
Thanks to all that answered. Old Buddy sound like an odd phrase, but it would make sense that the allies called him that. I think I will be purchasing Season 1 Voyage 1, Voyage 2, and Voyage 3 at the same time.
Well in terms of outright incorrect translations, they did put "admirals" in the subs when the character was saying "vice-admirals". But that falls under lack of proof reading I guess. Also I forget which episode it was but I think it was at some point before the Whitebeards started advancing towards the plaza.
if they rushed the anime and we were caught close to the manga then we would have a random filler arc like bleach. and no one wants that
If the quality keeps up like this until the end of the war, I will be one happy One Piece fan. Seriously.
I know some of the stuff in this episode didn't happen in the manga. But I honestly forget exactly what is cannon and what is not. My memory is a little fuzzy up until the first of the really big scenes in the end of the arc.
@RPG:

They could easily pick up the pace to just TWO Chapters per episode instead of one. There's still a YEARS split there, and Oda would still be releasing chapters in that time, so while the anime would be slowly catching up, the manga wouldn't exactly be at a stand-still.
What's more…
! The split where the entire half of the manga ends happens in this timeframe. They could easily throw plenty of training filler right there, showing some of what the Straw Hats did. Maybe even throw a Boss Luffy filler arc into there for good measure…
…and it wouldn't be "Random" at all, it'd be well placed right there.
Some anime fans need to realize that Well-placed filler, is really REALLY good for anime based on Manga. The Ice-hunters arc was perfect. The story wasn't brain-fuckingly bad, and at the same time, it was good and long.
That's what we need more of. So this shoddy pacing can stop.
I don't see why people hate filler arcs so much. If you don't like them, don't watch them.
I'm hoping they do Boss Luffy filler and/or other filler for at least half a year before jumping into the #598+ material, that way they could keep some momentum for the early six hundreds.
People's hatred of filler is a little ridiculous. I can see for Naruto, because of experience, but people always hear "filler' and automatically label it bad without a second thought or even trying it.
One Piece, with the exception of some of the earlier stuff (which was still okay in my book) has had some pretty good filler stories. G8, Ocean's Dream/Memory Loss/whatever arc, Ice Hunters arc… they were all very good IMO. The only filler I don't approve of is stuff that messes up the canon material really bad (like Davy Back Filler.)
I would honestly be perfectly fine with Boss Luffy filler for half a year, or something that took place around Strong World time (in between Thriller Bark and Sabaody.) And maybe even some cover stories animated.
And there is even cases, like in Bleach, when some of the filler arcs are actually better than the shit Kubo dishes out on a week to week basis.

I Love the Boss Luffy eps, so I'd love a longer Boss Luffy arc, but animated cover stories would be AWESOME!
They could easily do a "Where are they now?" Kinda set of filler episodes and do a whole arc where they just adapt the cover stories one at a time. They could even start with Ace's, considering they'll be coming down off of an Arc where he's such an important character.

I don't see why they can't. They've feared doing them in the past due to low ratings, but perhaps they will come to see that an episode of One Piece can be damn good without Luffy or the Straw Hats after the Marineford episodes end.
Sure, Luffy is in most of it, but there were some good episodes with Whitebeard and his crew stealing the show. Maybe they will realize that other characters can be just as good for ratings.
While I would like to see them all, the ones I want to see the most are Jango's, Hatchan's, Eneru's and CP9's. Oh and maybe Gedatsu or Wapol's.

This rumor is as persistent and false as the old "Dragon Ball was supposed to end at the Freeza Arc" and "Nakama is a magical word that means 'a Bond deeper than family' and is thus untranslatable".
The Buggy and Coby-meppo cover stories were rated just as highly as any other episode during those eras. There's no reason to believe low-ratings, or fear of low-ratings, are stopping those episodes.

You just named like… most of them...
I'm most interesting in Meet Baroque Works and Enel's.
