I can't wait to hear your review of the next episode in particular…
New to One Piece (Well Sort Of)

Decided to spruce up my reviews a bit to share my thoughts better.
Episode 130
General Thoughts and Feelings: So the 7th member is Nico Robin! Couldn’t have asked for a better choice, now that is inspired. Totally loved this episode, it was so tranquil, funny and definitely an episode that (with no previous viewing experience) would make me want to watch. It was nice to have closure on Alabasta, just seeing everyone getting along and being happy made me smile. Loved the eyelashes part:
Guy 1: He apparently wants to join the Supersonic Duck Squadron.
Guy 2: But he’s a camel.Didn’t care much for the marines in this episode but glad to see they were taken down easily and quickly.
The Soundtrack: There didn’t seem to be a lot of music in this episode but the usage of Memories whilst it slightly perplexed me was a welcome addition. The only other music piece that stood out was the one where Nami says she will personally kick Nico off the ship if she tries anything would not have been the music I would have picked.
Surprise of the Episode: The flashback to the tomb where you find out Nico lied about what the polyglith said. Others may have seen it coming, but not me. Also Luffy saving Robin even thought it had been mentioned very briefly in an earlier episode, it was good to have some clarification on the matter.
Favourite Quote: When Zoro is complaining about them lamenting Vivi and they begin to insult him:
Luffy: 3 Sword Style.
Usopp: That’s not an insult.
Luffy: 4 Sword Style.Favourite Moment: The crew’s reaction to Nico joining the crew. Nami at first angry but then likens to her when she gets Crocodile’s treasure, Usopp seeming to like her until she mentions that her speciality is killing and he’s terrified and the absolute highlight of Sanji sliding down the banister and then entering womanizer mode.
Least Favourite Moment: As I said I didn’t care much for the Marines, so every scene involving them (bar Smoker’s) I didn’t particularly enjoy.
Final Opinion: A brilliant episode and a fantastic way to end a thoroughly enjoyable arc.
So the Score: 10/10
Episode 131
General Thoughts and Feelings: This episode was a little disappointing, I hoped for a more in depth flashback, it had some potential but it was like the writer got bored of the idea and quickly decided to end it. The rest of the scenes with Luffy and the group were enjoyable but they weren’t strong enough to warrant this as a contender for a good episode.
The Soundtrack: Oh you poor people who saw the opening before Robin’s debut. I’d like to say thanks for not spoiling it cause you could have easily have told me. Speaking of the song itself I loved it, absolutely, definitely loved it. Best opening so far. It’s so fun and uplifting that it can’t help but put me in a good mood. So definitely a 10/10 song and with some nice animation to boot. It was refreshing to hear some familiar tracks that hadn’t played in a while, I don’t know their actual names but I call them “Zoro’s, Chopper’s and Usopp’s theme, I think you could figure out which ones they are as they tend to play when said character appears.
Surprise of the Episode: I always knew Robin was a great character but oh she’s brilliant. I love her relaxed persona and her voice is excellent, one that I could listen to for hours.
Favourite Quote: When Doctrine is telling Chopper that he must save her:
Doctrine: If you fail I die, no pressure then.
Favourite Moment: Sanji and Zoro almost kissing had me laughing my head off. But there were other worthy contenders as well such as Luffy and the monkeys and the scene with the group around the campfire.
Least Favourite Moment: Chopper freaking out at the appearance of Robin in the kitchen and transforming and all sorts, it was a bit too silly for my liking.
Final Opinion: I expected a better flashback and when comic relief scenes are the standout of the episode y’know something’s wrong.
So the Score: 7/10.
Episode 132
General Thoughts and Feelings: I managed to like this episode more than I was expecting to (the title put me off) which is always a good thing. I liked the idea of the salesman but it got a little annoying after a while. The rest of the episode seemed uneventful, I guess the map stuff might be important in the future but the overall plot seemed a bit closer to a cartoon than an anime, such as a problem happening whilst almost everyone’s asleep and then a iffy resolution.
The Soundtrack: I thought the soundtrack was used well in this episode, though it would have been nice to introduce some tracks instead of relying on old ones which is odd as it’s sort of opposite what I was saying in the previous review.
Surprise of the Episode: Seeing Bellemere again was a pleasant surprise, she was a good character and I always welcome them back with open arms.
Favourite Quote: When Sanji and Zoro are fighting:
Sanji: You think you can handle the love machine?
Don’t know if that’s exactly right but oh well if it’s not.
Favourite Moment: The fishing scene. It was a little predictable that Usopp was going to end up catching the small fish but my god that fish was tiny.
Least Favourite Moment: They sure managed to make a character who I liked at first into a real annoying bastard (I’m talking about the salesman, not Robin). I was glad when he left, but then again I know of salesmen like that so I guess you could say it’s an accurate representation when they try to flog everything.
Final Opinion: An enjoyable episode but not without its flaws.
So the Score: 8/10
I know I said I'd review the Alabasta arc but seeing as there was a huge gap in between when I watched certain episodes, such as the gap between 102 - 103 I'll have to rewatch it again to give a proper score.
-
The next dozen or so episodes are filler so you're welcome to skip them if you like. 130 was the end of the canon episodes and the next canon one is episode 144.
And yeah, the opening spoiled Robin joining but only for anime only watchers. The manga was already much past that. Actually, the majority of the openings show stuff further down the line than where they actually are.
-
@Kairouseki:
And yeah, the opening spoiled Robin joining but only for anime only watchers. The manga was already much past that. Actually, the majority of the openings show stuff further down the line than where they actually are.
This is hands-down the worst opening in terms of spoilers, though. Most of the time, the openings just show some characters who haven't been introduced, or include brief clips of future events that are typically vague enough to not really give anything away. I mean, spoiling the fact that they get a new crewmate is bad enough, but spoiling that said new crewmate is one of the current antagonists? Really, what were they thinking?
-
Kairouseki is right. It was a cover story. I don't know if you know but in japan One Piece comes out once a week. Most manga in Japan have so called cover pages where the chapter number and title is written. On this coverpages there is usually a character in some kind of pose or situation and it usually has nothing to do with the chapter or the manga. But Oda uses this cover pages to tell a story for some character, The only cover storys who were made into a Episiode are the Coby and Helmeppo and the Buggy story. There are other cover storys who were never made into an epsiode. The Jango and Fullbody is one of them. Hacci from Arlongpark got one and also the special agents of the Baroque Works like Mr5,4,3,2,1,0 and partner.
This is one of the curses of the anime only watchers.I'll have to pick up with the manga then, still on the Baratie stuff if my memory serves me. I want to catch up with the anime first but I'll try and get the first few volumes for my birthday and christmas. And when you say about Baroque Works was that the Spiders cafe one? Or is that still to come?

The completist in me will always have to watch them, whether it be in marathons or first time watching. I can't help it.
Really, what were they thinking?
I'll take a guess at
"Lets reveal that a current antagonist is going to join the crew in one of the openings. Also lets go out for some ramen and sushi"
-
I'd say that Brand New World takes the surprise out of quite a bit from the arc it's used in as well.
-
And when you say about Baroque Works was that the Spiders cafe one? Or is that still to come?
Like I said it wasn't animated.
The Baroque Works Cover story arc starts at chapter 359 and you are in the middle of chapter 218 (story wise)And you never mentioned your opinion on the survival of a certain someone in episode 130
-
And you never mentioned your opinion on the survival of a certain someone in episode 130
Ah I forgot to post that, I guess I was a little pissed because the death was cool and sad and it seemed a bit of a cheap cop out if everyone that supposedly dies then happens to survive.
-
Skipping the filler, he should be coming onto Jaya, right?
-
Yep. But he's going to watch the filler.
-

Get used to it. There are a number of similar cop outs as the series goes on.

Episode 133
General Thoughts and Feelings: I disliked this episode a lot, and not just because it’s filler or anything like that, it’s because it seemed to follow a basic cartoon plot of a small problem, guy learns stuff, problem solved. It also lacked anything really interesting, it was just flat out boring but still managed to entertain me slightly. I was hoping it’d be more like the Logue Town episode with Sanji in the cook off which actually managed to make the cooking interesting.
The Soundtrack: I was disappointed there wasn’t more music in this episode as it would have helped spice up the weak plot. The new ending is pretty good, in ways I prefer it more than the past openings but in ways I don’t. It’s quite a peaceful song which I don’t think we’ve had in a while. So I’ll give it an 8/10 as it was nice to listen to.
Surprise of the Episode: References to things we haven’t heard off in a while including Kaya and the All Blue. I figured we’d see Zeff again as we’ve been seeing relatives and friends of the Straw Hats in these episodes so it was not a shock when he turned up.
Favourite Quote: After Sanji has crashed into the Going Merry:
Sanji: Dam you, you did this on purpose didn’t you?
Luffy: I’m sorry.
Sanji: Well you don’t look very sorry.
Luffy: That’s why I’m sorry.
Favourite Moment: Sanji dropping slight hints towards the boy about cooking, including lighting his cigarette on the fire and then eating that apple.
Least Favourite Moment: The plot itself bored me and the kid was stereotypical in the respect that he wanted to achieve something and by the end he had.
Final Opinion: It was always going to be hard to make a cooking episode but surely they could have put a different spin on the age old formula of problem solving.
So the Score: 6/10
**Episode 134
General Thoughts and Feelings:** Whilst this episode did tend to follow the trends of simple plots I managed to enjoy it, just as long as I didn’t think too much into it. The supporting characters continued to be weak but they could have been much worse. Back to the simple plots and I suppose this was a different style of episode, the fireworks theme, to others but it still emitted that cartoon vibe.
The Soundtrack: I liked the soundtrack in this episode but seeing as there wasn’t a lot of musical tracks to pick from I was left a bit nonplussed with which I preferred, silence or music. Obviously music but then again if there’s no need for the music then why use it but still it wouldn’t hurt to use more.
Surprise of the Episode: Not a massive shocker but the reveal that the girl’s mum and dad were killed by the firework.
Favourite Quote: When Luffy is bored and asks what Robin’s reading (nice bit of consistency with earlier episodes by the way with the book):
Almost Everyone: Luffy’s interested in a book?!
Favourite Moment: The fireworks festival was nice, and the reveal that Usopp’s firework was tiny. Loved the massive firework, wish I could see one of those.
Least Favourite Moment: This is not really a flaw as such with the episode but rather the episodes in general, bar Episode 131 we’ve yet to see Robin do something. Whilst it’s nice that each of the Straw Hats are being focused on why not feature their new crewmate more prominently? I get she’s a loner but still.
Final Opinion: A good episode that was hindered by cliché moments, such as the plot and characters (I’ve seen the wise old master too many times).
So the Score: 8/10
**Episode 135
General Thoughts and Feelings:** I liked the idea of having a flashback to how Johnny and Yosaku met Zoro, and whilst it wasn’t as well executed as it could have been it was still good enough to deserve some recognition as an enjoyable episode.
The Soundtrack: Nice to hear some familiar tracks and it fitted well with the episode so the soundtrack was considered pretty dam good for this episode.
Surprise of the Episode: The appearance of Johnny and Yosaku; it got a big cheer from me as they’re my 2nd favourite supporting characters behind the chefs at the Baratie.
Favourite Quote: When Zoro meets the first bandit in the bar:
Zoro: So how much is your bounty?
Bandit: 5 million beri’s.
Zoro: (might not be accurate) That should be enough to buy me lunch.
Favourite Moment: Zoro taking down Dick the Bandit was cool.
Least Favourite Moment: Johnny and Yosaku joining up with Zoro happened too fast. It was literally like "Hey can we join, we respect you" and then Zoro agreeing which seems out of character as when Luffy wanted him to join his crew he didn't say yes straight away.
Final Opinion: A good idea for a flashback episode but not as good as it could have been, felt too rushed in places.
So the Score: 8/10
Apparently that's an arc over already! So you can expect my full reivew momentarily.
-
Believe it or not a lot of the filler tends to follow extremely simplistic stories.
-
Post-Arabasta/Alabasta Arc
General Thoughts and Feelings: This arc is a mixed one for me, it never really manages to be good and never really manages to be bad. It’s sort of stuck in the middle, good and bad. It had potential, (Zoro’s flashback, Chopper’s first patient) but it never really stretched its wings instead reverting to beat em up scenarios and quick endings with the latter definitely being a problem. The episodes I was expecting to hate I liked (Nami’s and Usopp’s episodes) and the episodes I was expecting to like I wasn’t too keen on (Chopper’s and Sanji’s).
The Soundtrack and the Voice Acting: The former for me was another case of a mixed scenario, there only seemed to be little music and the tracks that didn’t feature weren’t new so not a lot to comment on. But I did like the voice acting, in these particular batch of episodes I did enjoy Sanji’s, Zoro’s and Robin’s voices the most as they sound the nicest. There wasn’t a chance to really show off any acting in this arc but what we saw I enjoyed.
Favourite Character: Well Luffy, he’s not my favourite character but he’s good at providing comic relief which to me was essential in earning the individual episodes higher marks as without his stupid comments or actions I would have ranked the episodes lower. Luffy didn’t have a lot to do in this arc but what we did get I enjoyed. And just for that he’s my favourite character in this arc. I want to say Robin because she arguably did as much as Luffy in this arc but well I have to admit I prefer comedy over the cool and confident type.
Favourite Episode: Easy one for me, Episode 132 because ok it’s simple and has a bit of a crap resolution but it’s the one I enjoyed the most. Sometimes simple plot lines are fun and this episode had a bit of comedy, bit of action, a little bit of everything. It’s nowhere near the best episode of the series but when it’s put together with a bunch of slightly weak episodes it stands out.
Least Favourite Episode: Another easy one, Episode 133 because it’s too simple. Arguably cooking’s not the easiest topic to make an episode about but why not focus on something other than “I want to be a good chef”. Why not an ingredients hunt, ok that’s a little childish but it could have the potential for some fun. I also blame stereo-typical characters for why this episode failed in my books.
Final Opinion: After coming out of a long and mostly action packed arc there was going to need to be a cooling off point, a time to relax. Foe the most part these episodes were relaxing but they drive you crazy with plots that wouldn’t seem out of place on a children’s show.
So the Score: 7/10
Note: In longer arcs I will add a favourite villain, battle and stuff that wasn’t needed categories.
-
I have been enjoying your posts immensely, and wanted to say Hi. I also want to point out that Luffy is somewhat different (IMHO) in the manga.
-
Be prepared for Goat Sex. It's simply amazing.

Thanks, and will I able to see that in the sub as I'm guessing that'll be closer to the manga?

Really?! Well I'll be dammed. The episode's loading up now, was going to watch it earlier but Part 2 of Z Kai came early so I've been watching that.
-

Well, not as much as I'd like to see, but it is a little better. He's just not as much of an idiot, despite what other characters call him, in the Manga. (Nami's not nearly as bitchy either–but you're right--the dub does take it further than the subs do.)
-
My internet's been playing up all afternoon so only managed to watch the one episode which I'll review after I've had my dinner. But tonight I'm going to watch Movie 8 instead hopefully.
Episode 136:
General Thoughts and Feelings: I hated this episode, it bored me out of my mind. Whilst some parts were enjoyable to watch and the occasional scene redeemed the episode I just didn’t enjoy it. The old guy bored me as did the marine characters. So I guess the right words to describe it would be thoroughly disappointing.
The Soundtrack: Arguably the best part of the episode was the music, it fitted well and was a joy to listen to.
Surprise of the Episode: The small reference to that guy Luffy and Buggy met.
Favourite Quote: When the crew inspect that ship and see the fireflies (at least that’s what I think they were):
Usopp: What do you think they are? Vicious killers off the night?!
Favourite Moment: The “battle” against the goats and Luffy’s face being set on fire.
Least Favourite Moment: The old guy gave a new meaning to the word crap as did the marines.
Final Opinion: God help this arc if the rest of it is as bad as this.
So the Score: 6/10 (and that’s being very generous).
-
The goat sex should make up for it .
-
Get used to it. There are a number of similar cop outs as the series goes on.
Though Pell's case was easily the worst in the series.

…Yeah, giving the score 6/10 to an episode that bored you out of your mind is indeed very generous. But then again, I've never given anything a score lower than 4/10 myself, so I suppose I'm not really one to talk…
-
@HiroVoid:

You're right I mean how the hell do you survive a fucking big ass bomb that just exploded ON YOUR ASS and just come out all fine and good. Hell that would make pell a pretty damn powerful being.
-
@HiroVoid:

! The fiasco with Oars Jr. was pretty bad too, especially in the anime, where they milk his ''death'' scene for all it's worth.

Yes indeed they milked the shit out of his "death" scene but it wasn't as big a cop out as pell.
-
@Kairouseki:
The goat sex should make up for it .
So what there's actually goat on goat action? Or perhaps Chopper or Robin get a little lonely and-
Actually on second thoughts, better if I don't go there…

I guess I couldn't bring myself to rate it so low, there were good moments in fairness but I think after waiting hours for the episode to load I was dissapointed that after all that time waiting it wasn't really worth it.
Now off to watch Movie 8.

Now off to watch Movie 8.
(For some reason,) There's a brief scene near the end of the movie, with Robin, that talks about
! Robin's past., which hasn't been revealed up to the point where you're watching. It's only several seconds, but I still wanted to mention it.
EDIT: It takes place after the scene with Nami explaining to Vivi the plan to possibly pick Vivi up if she wanted to join the crew. It's after Vivi's line, "Well, Carue, what do you wanna do? Because I…" A minute later it's safe to watch. Part of it has the scene where Luffy saves Robin from the collapsing place in Alabasta, but it's related to the ecene in the spoiler tag.
(I dunno if putting that in a spoiler tag is necessary. What do the rest of you guys think?)
Although, since you've posted that you're off to watch Movie 8, it's probably too late to mention this anyway. Personally, I don't think it's the biggest deal if you were to see it.
-

Well looks like I'm not going to watch if after all, my internet is going haywire again, only just managed to get on here, I'll try it again tommorow.
Now a while back I was going to start on an abridged series and seeing as I'm bored I may just try wrting a script for that.
-
I see…
Well, whenever you do watch it, if it's soon, I'll say that...

… I edited this in my last post while you were replying to it, so I don't know if you saw this.
And it's up to everyone else if the scene I mentioned requires skipping over or not. It's important but doesn't explain the entire context, and in your situation it'd build up hype, which I don't think is a bad thing.
-
Just wait till Jaya, it's awesome.

That's a funny way of writing out Movie 6.
Which you seriously should watch by the way, now that you know about Robin being a crew member.

Very well. Just don't watch Movie 9 or 10 yet, as they both include characters who won't be joining the crew for a LONG time. (M9 is safe to watch after episode 325, M10 is safe after 381.)

Episode 137
General Thoughts and Feelings: I actually managed to enjoy this episode, it felt really pointless but still I liked it. Zenny interested me a lot more in this episode, he’s nowhere near as interesting as say Robin but there was a little mystery to him. I’m also failing to see what goat sex has anything to do with this arc, is that subbed only? I did like the little chat between Robin and Zenny, they’re kindred spirits in a way. The scenes in the first half of the episode were great and fun to watch, it went a little downhill from there literally with Zenny at the end: did that scene remind anyone else of the scene in the Warship island arc where they get that dragon down that hill?
The Soundtrack: I don’t want to keep on repeating myself by saying the soundtrack was great but it was, I think I heard the same track repeated once or twice but no complaints from me. Having listened to the ending a few times now it has really grown on me and is now my 2nd favourite. Could someone be kind enough to tell me who sings it?
Surprise of the Episode: That Zenny was building a coffin, or the fact that goat sex wasn’t featured.
Favourite Quote: When the marines claim to come in peace:
Sanji: Call me paranoid but isn’t it the marines job to chase pirates?
Favourite Moment: When you find out Nami has lost the ship and everyone’s mad and then Robin just easily checkmates him in the game of chess.
Least Favourite Moment: As much as I liked this episode it on a whole did feel a little pointless, so I guess you could say the least favourite moment was the plot.
Final Opinion: This episode was like a good relationship that wasn’t going anywhere, just stuck in some boring yet enjoyable place.
So the Score: 8/10
Episode 138
General Thoughts and Feelings: Yay, I enjoyed this episode, a great turnaround for this arc. The episode wasn’t the best but it was certainly good by filler standards. Now can I just ask what the hell did goat sex have to do with anything? I noticed a moment where the goat looked like it was sucking his thing, I’ll post a screen cap later maybe, was that it? I didn’t like how the marines were defeated so quickly which is odd in comparison to when I was glad they were back in 130, I think it was because the rest of the episode didn’t interest me as much. So yeah an enjoyable affair but still not brilliant.
The Soundtrack: Yay my favourite soundtrack returned in this episode, but the rest of the music was great as well.
Surprise of the Episode: That the goats swallowed the money, also that this episode was good.
Favourite Quote: When Zoro tells Nami to move the ship:
Sanji: Don’t you dare give my sweet Nami orders.
Favourite Moment: The battle at the start of the episode was great fun, it had some good music as well so something I’d be willing to watch again. Zoro getting hit by the ship was a hoot.
Least Favourite Moment: The marines were defeated too early and the rest of the episode failed to interest me as much without them.
Final Opinion: Could have been better, could have been worse so pretty much the same as all filler.
So the Score: 8/10
Goat Island Arc
General Thoughts and Feelings: After a bad start in which I was expecting this arc to flop I found myself enjoying it as it progressed. This arc reminded me a lot of Warship island, a betrayal in the marines so said marine can find something though Warship island for me was far more enjoyable. The characters were rather weak in this, I found myself warming to Zenny as time went by but the rest were just stereotypical bad guys. The whole plot felt really weak as it was just a series of pointless and enjoyable events mashed together which wasn’t to my acquired taste; the ending was slightly disappointing though I did like the idea of the goats literally being the treasure.
The Soundtrack and the Voice Acting: The soundtrack was a welcome presence, not that it never was but I can’t tell you how many times I’ve wanted the loud and blaring music to recede. Instead when there is only silence I want the music to come back instead of bathing in the quietness. The voice acting was top notch as always, as I said for the previous arc there wasn’t much chance to use their acting abilities, at least they’ve already proven they can act so I’m not left with a case of dread as to whether they can.
Favourite Character: For this arc it’s going to be the goats, yes I know mad but here’s why: no-body else really did much to keep me interested. Yes it was a short arc but in the confines of the 3 episodes the goats were awesome, taking down marines, going in a boat, swallowing money: the goats I’m slightly embarrassed to say are the best of the bunch.
Favourite Episode: There’s only 3 episodes to choose from so I choose you Episode 137. I loved the first half of the episode, it was good old fashioned One Piece fun, simple and great. Arguably in this arc calling it the best episode isn’t really an achievement but this will most probably be the only award it will ever win. Here Episode 137, take your invisible trophy.
Least Favourite Episode: Episode 136, come on down! Whilst the arc didn’t really have much of a plot this episode did nothing to help that, it was just so boring. I think it’s the worst episode of One Piece yet, there was very little redeeming things about it.
Final Opinion: A disappointing arc, where was the goat sex people?! It reminded me of an earlier arc when it should be producing something new that can’t be compared to.
So the Score: 7/10
-
Sorry for double posting but the last post would have been too long.
Episode 139
General Thoughts and Feelings: An excellent episode, my 2nd favourite filler episode so far. The taxing town reminded me of that planet in Dragon Ball GT, except I found this perhaps more interesting that than because it had comedy, action and mystery: great combination. The characters actually were enjoyable this time around and just about everything was perfect, a great way to start the Rainbow Mist arc.
Funniest Moment: When the crew dock on the island, Sanji and the taxer exchange heated looks and then Luffy just comes in screaming “FOOD, FOOD, FOOD!”
Surprise of the Episode: That the man in the suit was powered by people charging him up, twas also a funny moment.
Favourite Quote: Luffy saying awesome when he found out they were in a place from which they never could escape.
Favourite Moment: The battle between Sanji and the guy in the suit, sure the resolution to the battle was a bit meh but that doesn’t take away from the fact it was great fun to watch. Also Nami worrying about her bags when he was fighting. And Luffy wanting the little boat, saying he would give it a good home. There was also the marine taking down his own ship, there was me thinking he’d be the main villain.
Least Favourite Moment: I didn’t really like the marine for some reason but it was great to see his supposed threatening powers do more harm than good.
Final Opinion: Loved the episode, just hope the rest of the arc is as good as this.
So the Score: 10/10
Episode 140
General Thoughts and Feelings: Another great episode, not as good as the previous one but still a truly amazing watch. The Rainbow Mist continues to intrigue, the idea of never aging in there (well sort of) was an interesting one; the flashback was great as well, is the mayor that pirate who tried to attack? The battle between Sanji and the mayor’s son had a bit off a disappointing end, I was hoping that marine wouldn’t show up again.
Funniest Moment: Usopp constantly freaking out when he sees the "ghosts" and wondering about the ghost captain.
Surprise of the Episode: That you can’t really age inside the rainbow mist.
Favourite Quote: Luffy only just realizing things when others had known for a while.
Favourite Moment: The flashback was the best part for me, I always tend to enjoy them and this one was no exception.
Least Favourite Moment: The battle between Sanji and the mayor’s son didn’t end in the best possible way.
Final Opinion: Another enjoyable episode, not bad for filler.
So the Score: 9/10

I honestly have no clue why it's called the Goat Sex arc. Maybe because the old man is constantly around goats with no women.
-
Yeah, the Rainbow Mist is one of the better filler arcs.
-
Rainbow Mist is a fairly decent arc for filler, yes.
Could you do me a favor? It's been some time since I watched the eps and I'm not always sure where you are. Could you post the title of the ep alongside the number? That should help a lot, if it's not too much trouble. And if you do, thanks in advance.
-
Right now he's in the Goat Sex arc, following which is Rainbow Mist and then Jaya will start in episode 144.

LOL Thanks Maron. I got that much figured out, although I've not heard it referred to as the "goat sex arc" prior to this thread, lol. Thanks for the heads up on what's coming. Jaya, for a nice change from goats, kicks donkeys

He's currently in the Rainbow Mist Arc, seeing as he referred to it in his past 2 reviews.

Episode 141: Thoughts of Home! The Pirate Graveyard of No Escape.
General Thoughts and Feelings: Another excellent episode, truly filler at its best. I feel sympathy for Henzo, having your friends disown you after all that time of trying to rescue them must have been hard. The small flashback we got I enjoyed though I wonder how kids managed to lock up a pirate. It was a little disappointing that there was a method to get them out of the rainbow mist after all and it took 50 years to make! I doubt it’d take that long to just make some sort of rope. I have a hunch the rainbow mist might start to disappear because I watched The Simpsons episode where Homer becomes 3D last night and the whole world starts to collapse so maybe something similar will happen?
Funniest and Favourite Moments: My funniest moment would have to be the little fall out between the mayor’s family, I don’t think we really have much comic relief villains in One Piece bar Buggy and Mr 2 so it was fun to see the villains squabble. My favourite moment would have to be the flashback, a personal highlight would have to be the pirate throwing the kid into the path of the sea monster and telling him to stop it.
Least Favourite Moment: I can’t really find flaw with this episode as I enjoyed it so much but there is one little nitpick that is to do with all the episodes: bring in some new eye catchers. The idea in itself is nice, with different music for every character but I get a little sick of hearing the same music over and over.
Surprise of the Episode: The confirmation that the pirate who attacked the town all those years ago was in fact Wetton.
Moment That Wasn’t Needed: The cliff-hanger. Already Sanji and Chopper have proven themselves to be capable fighters so the sea monster should be small fry for them.
So the Score: 9/10
Episode 142: An Inevitable Melee! Wetton’s Schemes and the Rainbow Tower!
General Thoughts and Feelings: I’ve got to admit I’m really impressed with the Rainbow Mist arc, it has a compelling plot, likeable characters and suitable doses of action and comedy. It seemed a little pointless that after 50 years the Rainbow Tower just sort of didn’t have a purpose except to invade the mist. I sometimes tend to hate it whenever the villain escapes but at least this time it’s set up something more than said villain escaping with the treasure. Wetton is a great villain and the kids are characters who I feel immense sympathy for. Glad to see the cliff-hanger was put to good use as well.
Funniest and Favourite Moments: My funniest moment would be the pirate upon seeing Wetton again not believing that his son has grown up when it seemed like only yesterday he was a bed wetter. And the favourite moment would be just the realization of the fact that Wetton is going to invade, should make for an exciting episode.
Least Favourite Moment: That stupid Marine constantly saving everyone with his coin. I think he might be that boy’s father because they both have powerful flicks.
Surprise of the Episode: I wasn’t expecting that Marine jail cell’s trivia to come up again and it was put to good use again, preventing Robin from using her powers.
Moment that wasn’t Needed: That small flashback where the kids decide they can have their own bedtime and play time etc. And then the leader decided he wants to go home. Nothing wrong with it but seemed a little pointless.
So the Score: 9/10
Episode 143: And so, the Legend Begins! To the Other Side of the Rainbow!
General Thoughts and Feelings: Amazing episode, the best filler yet! The revelation that the kids were the marines who then wrote that book made perfect sense and was a brilliant twist. Speaking of twists there were plenty of turns in this episode that had me wondering what the hell was going to happen next. The cliff-hanger was awesome as well. From the battles to the sadness of the kids apparent sacrifice this episode was truly brilliant.
Funniest and Favourite Moments: The funniest moment would have to be Luffy saying he’d like to visit Ape’s Concert again sometime, it wasn’t exactly funny but it brought a smile to my face. My favourite moment would be the reveal that the kids were the marines and they wrote that book, truly brilliant. And my god an Iagram cameo!
Least Favourite Moment: I don’t really have one, but just to be extremely picky um, I don’t know, the line about how the Rainbow Tower and it taking 50 or so years to complete and it still wasn’t finished was a bit stupid.
Surprise of the Episode: The kids were the marines and the Iagram cameo. Also I thought the kids were going to sacrifice themselves.
Moment that wasn’t Needed: I didn’t like how they decided to have the kids arrest the straw hats, after everything they went through it was a bit annoying. But at least they let them go.
So the Score: 10/10
Rainbow Mist Arc
General Thoughts and Feelings: Fantastic arc to say the least, it was perhaps one of the best arcs that One Piece has had! For the first time in a long while we got an interesting filler premise (not counting individual episodes), it reminded me a lot of the Bermuda Triangle; the same goes for filler characters, they managed to interest me throughout and when the time came for their apparent sacrifice I was actually a little upset. The old geezer was another I felt sympathy for and the battles were cool; throw in some great comedy moments and lots of twists and turns you have One Piece producing some of its best material.
The Soundtrack and the Voice Acting: I liked the soundtrack a lot throughout this arc, it had a song for every moment, cool themes for battles, suspenseful themes for mysteries. I’ve said this a lot but there wasn’t much of a chance to show acting ability. The kids voices slightly annoyed me notably the leader but the old timer and the Wetton family’s were good. The main characters were great as always.
Favourite Character: The little gang of kids were my favourite characters, I don’t think I’ve ever cared so much for filler characters. I pitied them when they refused to believe who Henzo really was and when they found their town attacked, meaning they were furious with Henzo who had allied himself with Wetton. And when their apparent sacrifice came about I was sad yet I admired all of them for going together.
Favourite Episode: Tricky one but Episode 143. It had excitement, action and a great conclusion to a gripping plot. I couldn’t have asked for much more from it. Definitely the best filler episode yet.
Least Favourite Episode: Tricky one again because they were all good but I guess Episode 140 because after the fantastic start to the arc it was always going to be hard to top it and I don’t think Episode 140 quite did that. Nothing against the episode but I felt it was the weakest in this arc.
Final Opinion: The best filler arc One Piece has had.
So the Score: 9/10

@Kairouseki:
Just wait until G8.
When abouts is that?
Sorry for constantly changing my review categories, this version will be the definite one.
Episode 144: Caught Log! The King of Salvagers, Masira!
Plot: A nice and simple plot to kick-start the Jaya arc; the idea of a group of salvagers was an interesting one yet I didn’t really share much passion for. I did like the character of Masira yet the general flow of the episode seemed a little slow and tedious at times, I think it’s a good example of padded out canon. I understand this is a show about pirates but really do we need sea monsters all the frickin time? The sky island stuff looks to be a total drag, a side-quest but Robin doing a Sherlock and figuring the skull out was a cool moment especially Sanji’s line about any woman that has an interest in dead bodies was his sort of woman.
Animation, Soundtrack and Voice Acting: I enjoyed the animation in this episode, in actual fact I’ve yet to see an episode of One Piece that was badly animated or maybe I just can’t remember. The silence was really effective in this episode, especially when Robin was investigating the skull and the tracks that were played suited the presence of Masira. I’m only going to comment on the voices of new major characters; Masira’s voice suited his personality and appearance in my humble opinion however the voice itself slightly annoyed me.
The Good, The Bad and The Moment that Wasn’t Needed: My favourite moment in this episode would have to be the Straw Hats investigating the ship, it was a good moment because I had no idea what they’d find. My least favourite moment would be the annoying chants of Masira’s crew and the moment that wasn’t needed was the god dam sea monster showing up.
Heroes and Villains: The Straw Hats were a little annoying in this episode, Nami was acting like a total bitch, so was Zoro a little, and well Chopper was a little annoying. But the rest were fun to watch, especially Luffy and Sanji. There weren’t really any villains in this episode but Masira made for a good character in certain respects but also a bad one in others.
Something I saw coming and something I didn’t: I didn’t see anything coming in this episode but one thing that took me by surprise was the friendship Luffy and Masira form, really unexpected and random, reminded me a little bit off the rapport they form with Mr 2.
Final Opinion: Fun episode to start off Jaya though it was a bit too boring in places and there wasn’t really much going on. That said it feels great to be back in canon, lets here it for canon, whoop!
So the Score: 4/5 or 8/10.
Episode 145: Monsters Appear! Don't Mess with the Whitebeard Pirates!
Plot: This episode was a little meh plot wise, the sea monsters thing lasted way too long, about half the episode when it could have been quickly resolved sooner. I’d say the only key decisions were to go to Jaya and that’s about it; all the rest of the episode seemed really pointless in comparison. However I did enjoy the return of Ace and his interaction with Buggy even though I was spoiled about that part it was still entertaining to watch. The part about Whitebeard interested me, when do we meet him?
Animation, Soundtrack and Voice Acting: The animation was mostly great though there were a few shots that were a little iffy. I liked the soundtrack in this episode, some familiar pieces that helped add to the fun and the tension. I like Ace’s voice a lot, it’s so calm and concentrated, I don’t think we’ve heard pissed Ace yet so I’m looking forward to that. Buggy’s voice slightly annoys me with all his screaming and his regular voice is still a little hard on the ears, but the acting behind it is good so not all bad.
The Good, The Bad and the Moment that wasn’t Needed: My favourite moment would be a toss up between Luffy, Sanji and Zoro almost instinctively kicking Masira off their ship when they realize he’s still on board or the Ace/Buggy scenes. My least favourite moment would be the time wasted on the sea monsters and the moment that wasn’t needed were the Nami and Zoro scenes towards the end, especially Nami’s which was kind of stating the obvious.
Heroes and Villains: The Straw Hats didn’t really feel like a dominant presence in this episode even though they heavily featured, maybe it’s the fact that they didn’t really do anything. I like Buggy as a villain, he’s not my favourite bless him but he’s a fun character. I didn’t particularly enjoy his introductory arc, well towards the end but I did like his appearance in Logue Town so I guess he’s a 50/50 character for me. I love Ace though, one of my favourite characters just wish he was given more screen time which he deserves. But then again that would ruin the free-ness of his character, the wild child attitude if he stuck around with the Straw Hats for too long.
Something I saw coming and something I didn’t: For both of them it’s the return of Ace and Buggy. I knew they were going to meet but it was still a pleasant surprise when they actually did.
Final Opinion: Another fun episode though certain scenes drag it down.
So the Score: 8/10 or 4/5.
Episode 146: Quit Dreaming! Mock Town, the Town of Ridicule! Plot: This episode reminded me a lot of Whiskey Peak except this was so much better and I thought Whiskey Peak was excellent! Even though I’ve known him for all of ten minutes Bellamy is a brilliant character, so mad and dark superbly voiced by Justin Cook I believe. The squabble between Luffy and the bar customer had me laughing, I hope we see that guy again, maybe he could be like the chicken out of Family Guy and randomly show up? The scene that followed where Bellamy comes in to the bar was great though I wonder why Luffy told Zoro not to fight back; and where the hell has Robin gotten to? This episode also had some good comedy moments with Sanji and Luffy taking the apple, so yep terrific episode.
Animation, Soundtrack and Voice Acting: I love Bellamy’s character design, it’s so mad and wild yet sane if that makes any sense. Wish there was some new themes debuting this episode, we could have used a really mad piece of music for Bellamy that heightens his madness. Speaking of madness I love Justin Cook’s take on the character, I was expecting a normal run of the mill voice but it surprised me a lot in a good way.
The Good, the Bad and the Moment that wasn’t Needed: I don’t honestly think there was a bad moment in this episode, even though I’ve not read the manga for this arc it was well paced, not too fast, not too slow so no complains in that department. The apple scene seemed a little random though, I guess it was used to heighten the danger of Mock Town but surely the could have used an alternative method?
Heroes and Villains: The Straw Hats were great in this episode, fun to watch, especially Luffy. But the real highlights were Bellamy and his gang of pirates, can’t wait to see how the story treats them and I’m hoping the battle between Luffy and Bellamy which I hope not only will happen but will be good, as much as I did like the Croc and Luffy fights they lacked for the most part that oomph which One Piece (in battles) is usually good at.
Something I saw coming and something I didn’t: Once again I didn’t have a clue what was going to happen so just about everything was a surprise. But I guess the fact that Jaya is so good.
Final Opinion: Brilliant episode, really digging Bellamy so far.
So the Score: 10/10 or 5/5

I THINK Whitebeard is first shown in episode 151 though I'm not positive. And don't worry, you'll definitely see more of the man in the bar.
