But, dinty, up and north aren't the same thing!
Besides, my computer is facing about the same way where my compass is pointing, and since I can't make my avatar face in, it points that way.

I understand the importance of Haki to Luffy's development, but if all that he learned was how to use the three types of Haki, I would really be disappointed. There has got to be more.
I doubt he has perfected them, or is even close. At the most he can do each one to an extent and is particularly adept in one area(as Rayleigh mentioned is likely). There is much room for development :)

That would make sense because there is still one half of the one piece story left and there has to be a room for development for the main character. How else will we cherish their amazing victories through hard work and personal growth? :P
I just realized that the fake chopper fox is from the coverstory of Ch. 232.
What happened to the initial coating the Sunny had 2 years ago? Does it just fade off?
The Sunny never got it.

I doubt Rayleigh had any time to coat it at that time but if he did yeah probably.

Dinty's monitor is clearly rotated pi/2 clockwise, and the screen itself faces east.

Someone didn't learn their Radians? Pi/2 is another way of representing 90 degrees.

Oh, I knew that, but generally I don't use radians to describe direction.
Technically, there still is no degree sign in this sentence. Which one "this" refers to is unknown.

It's a good thing we're talking about the chapter again, right guys?

If he did I hope that the other SH are powered up enough to deal with him :p
If he mastered it the others SHs wouldnt have to deal with him because he cant control it…or did you meant if he didnt?

I really don't feel like getting into a debate regarding mathematics. This is a OP forum.
More on topic What do you guys think of usopps new display of power? And what are some of your predictions of Sanji's reaction when he sees Nami. Hey, maybe he will even get the face-boob treatment that Usopp got

what about if he sees Robin also, those are gonna be big reaction

yea thats what I meant, brain fart
I'm really interested to see whether/how the relationships within the straw hats have changed in 2 years. Will Nami still hit Luffy whenever he's…well Luffy? Will Sanji and Zorro still beat up on each other at all times? Will Usopp return as Sogeking with a brand new theme song? Soooooo many questions to be answered.
On a side note, does it seem like Luffy's matured a little? It seems as if he now fully understands that Hancock wants to marry him, and he even made friends with some of the animals on the island instead of eating them. Could we potentially be looking at a Luffy that is (dare I say it) a little more intelligent? Also if he's learned how to control haki (at least the observation side of it) why didn't he know that fake-luffy was there and simply avoid bumping into him? My mind is now exploding due to the plethora of questions spewing out of my thoughts -_-

A debate? Well, whatever.

I had posted something akin to this a while ago. And his response? "FWOOOOOSH~! THANK YOU, KAMI-SAMA!!" <- nosebleed, like how Oda does it

Umm I doubt his haki is on 24/7 lol. May be like logia fruit users, that they can be hit physically if you catch them off guard(save crocodile, who is just that amazing). I doubt he would feel the need to have his haki (turned on?) when walking through a sparse crowd(seeing as everyone had backed away due to fake luffy's civilian executions)

Why would he be able to sense Fake-luffy? He's never met him and doesn't even know of his existence.
I mean if he has gotten good enough at O-haki than he would be able to sense all the people there and circa how strong they are but not their appearance and personality, at least that is how I understand what little we know about that power.
EDIT!: Misread your post, thought you meant bump into him figuratively don't know why…
I guess the bag isn't a part of his own presence so that he wouldn't take it into account, or as the above poster said, maybe he doesn't have the haki ON

I didn't mean sense as in know who he was I meant being aware through observation haki that there was a presence in his way, as you just stated.
So is there a HQ picture of the color spread without the mangatream/binktopia watermark?

I agree we will see Luffy kick some ass in base before he is forced to mess someone up for real. I really doubt he will go a few arcs without using them though. He definitely isn't getting through Fishman Isle without using them. If the SH are shown off of SA by Pacifista, Kuma, Smoker, etc. then even sooner.
Yeah, using the gears as a final/ultimate move like in EL would make things fresh again.
Seeing the fist of a giant once in a while it's very cool but every week it looses it's charm.

Every uber strong character in OP is decades older than the strawhats, hence why they have mastered their abilities.
Roger was 40+ when he got to Raftel, that's why he took no break before entering the New World. When stepped on the Grand Line for the last time he was already a beast. They said he had been to every island in the Grand Line because he was there more than those 2 years, he took several different trips.
The strawhats have nothing but growing to do, more than half are below 20 or just entered their twenties. They shouldn't be as strong as admirals just yet.

. . .
Did my post cause this? I just came back to this thread and see talk about radians. I'm going to backtrack, and edit this post if I need to apologize or call someone stupid or something.
Edit: Okay, rubia_ryu isn't all that familiar mathematical terminology, and I don't need to apologize to anyone.
You do NOT need a degree sign, or the word "degrees", or even the word "radians" to represent an angle in terms of radians.
And I was obviously lying about Dinty's monitor (though apparently it does face east… I'm secretly a spy with flawed data?!)
Thank you. =]
I'm really excited to see how the Straw Hats developed, and to see what'll happen next. >w<
Dinty's monitor is clearly rotated pi/2 clockwise, and the screen itself faces east.
My screen does face East, but not rotated 90 degrees.
so, erm, …
oops.
EDIT: I blame my avatar!
His bad sense of direction is corrupting mine!

They're the protaganists in a shonen manga
Of course they'll be strong at a young age

Strangely, the video on Youtube about that scene in Alabasta is gone. It must've been removed.

This sentence should have concluded that argument. Now, let's move on.
Any thoughts on how the Sunny's going to be traveling underwater? It really depends on the how the coating creates a bubble around the Sunny.
I just love how the Fake Luffy tries to hold Luffy's grin through thick and thin. Also love how Nami doesn't look the least concerned with a gun pointed in her face.

Strong yes, but not the strongest yet.
Pretty sure Roger and Rayleigh were strong when they were twenty but I doubt they were as strong as when they conquered the Grand Line. Luffy just learnt what haki was, the other characters had decades of use.

Yes, but they don't practice constantly. You saw what Whitebeard did all day, right? The most practice he got in his last 2 years of life was staving off daily assassination attempts from Ace, lol.
So worth the wait!! I'm already dying for the next chapter! ^^
In the colorspread Zoro had four swords, or he at least had a new one. I love Sanji's new stache and Nami's just so freaking hot… @.@ Brooke was downright hilarious. I'm also glad that Luffy's look didn't change too much and he still has a bit of that silly personality. Best chapter ever. X3

As someone else said, these guys trained constantly and faced challenge after challenge in their adventure through the grand line
And unless another TS happens, expect Luff to be the PK when he's 20

No he still has 3
3 sheaths 2 without swords, one with
After the straw hat pirate reunite I hope they will do the ceremony before crossing the new world. Four member haven't done this ceremony yet I think now is the good time.
Like Kidd said "anyone without the nerve to said something is good as dead"

Sorry, three swords and three scabbards, one sword (wado?) sheathed.
In the colorspread Zoro had four swords, or he at least had a new one.
He still has the same 3 swords he had before the time-skip… There isn't a new sword.
So much love for this chapter! I cannot wait for the rest of the crew to reunite :3 Sanji is definitely going to be in need of a blood transfusion when he sees Nami!
But I keep having this feeling that Sanji is going to meet fake!Nami first and all his wildest dreams of her "improvements" will be crushed! Oda lives to torment that poor man's soul! And no doubt fake!Nami will fall in love with him. Sanji/fake!Nami…calling it now!
btw, does anyone think the SH crew might run into Law and his crew? It didn't seem like they were planning to cross Red Line any time soon and they were settling around SA. With all these major changes with the SHs I'm curious about how the SuperNovas look.
I died when this chapter came out. I was late to class because I had to read it five times first lol
I've been totally baffled as to how Oda has been intending to fix "slavery" thanks in part to the crew's efforts. The political angle with a popular musician (Brook) would be a great way to fight against the problem. It's an angle we haven't seen from OP, yet, and it could add an interesting dynamic to the story.
You don't think the Straw Hats will reenact Fisher Tiger the Adventurer burning Mariejoa down?
If the Straw Hats manage to leave Shabondy Archipelago without being noticed by the Marines (an entirely reasonable scenario), that's a perfect opportunity for worldwide recognition after being gone for so long.

I could totally see Sanji yelling at the photographer to check if his lens cover is on and then requesting some time to strike a pose for his, hahah.

Somehow, I can't see him standing there posing for long, mostly because marines would be after them. This time, even if the photographer has his lens cap off, the picture comes out blurry or something. Cue the laughter when the bounty posters are updated.

Or we could see him with his hair up and both retarded eyebrows revealed for the world to see.
I really, really hope to God that Fake Luffy attempts to shoot real Luffy with his pistol. That's probably a given by now though.

It's also a given that he'll be shitting himself when (a) Luffy gets annoyed, (b) Luffy becomes confused, Luffy ignores him... (d) some other option that I didn't list.
guys remember SH dnt go chasing after trouble trouble follows dem… so y wud luffy go to marejoa etc to announce his return... dat act in marinford wr he did dat stunt was becoz of rayleigh. Luffy on his own wud never do things like dat he justs want to get to one piece...
It took me 3 days to fully read this thread as I was reading it in chunks and new posts were popping out naturally.
But finally I did so I ll give my take on the 598th chapter of OP
I found the chapter interesting and overall great. I like the designs of "improved SH's" especially that of Nami and Usopp (I really like his)
Perhaps Zoro's eye scar is not so appealing but we'll see.
Story wise I liked the pace and was perhaps a bit distracted by the fake SH crew since I found it unnecessary I guess. (perhaps the timing when they appear is a bit unbelievable to me and even though it is a gag I find it disturbing that Chopper really is that dumb, not to mention the entire Sabaody Archipelago. The entire crew looks way different and in the end to think even the Super Novas are dumb enough to fall for it, in my eyes all of that is a bit over the line of sanity in a bad way. (I ll give Oda a benefit of the doubt however I wanted to point it out nevertheless)
It was interesting to see some glimpses of character development as well. Definitely Usopp takes the crown here. And I don't know where exactly people saw his fear after he said he has improved a lot and freaked out right after when he saw Sogeking (it wasn't ment to be the sign of fear, more the WTF reaction, which is clearly shown in the panel where he and Nami would calmly walk away from the burning Bar - I am sure 2 years ago they would both run like hell)
Anyways, it was mentioned in this thread already, however there are some interesting points and, debates to be had regarding the chapter and the OP world/decisions made by the SH's.
Starting with Shakey and her knowing which of the SH's are already on SA together with exact dates of their arrival (color of observation? probably) Than we could ask ourselves, what happened with Kuma. Was he
a) beaten by Shakey
b) still has his original personality
c) something else
I too have wondered, was/is the decision SH's made the right one. I mean yes sure they will be more prepared to sail to NW, however Kid and Law didn't exactly wait 2 years and are now making their way out there. Has any of SNs fallen? Were some assimilated by the likes of Kaidou (Drake?)
And last but not least. Where exactly do SHs stand in terms of strength.
I heard people here sharing different views regarding the question. So I ll share mine as well:
Well we dont know exactly how much time has passed since SHs left on their journey but we narrowed it down and "know" they have sailed the grand line for less than half a year (time-line thread) So knowing they were seperated for two years, and taking into account the data we have on their strength increase (which is mostly our own opinion based on words spoken by others, like
Rayleight etc…) I would imagine they improved a lot.
Luffy from pre-GL and pre time skip has improved a lot, mostly because of the Gear 2 and 3rd technique. Now if he managed to do that less than 6 months time we should deduce since this is manga and not real life, he has got a lot stronger in these 2 years, especially when Ray said he thought him all he knows. and Luffy still had 6 months to add to that.
So my guess is that Luffy as he is, can easily take down a VA and is nearing Admiral level if not already there.
That is my guess. Which is just that, a guess.
For the finale I would like to comment on the G1 and Marine HQ replacement.
1. I think that is a hint Akainu is in charge. Knowing him and his personality it defers from Sengoku. Akainu is a man who follows absolute justice and wouldnt mind the casulties along the way of practicing it.
So IMO in his eyes Marines were doing it all wrong when they were stationed in the old GL instead of New one, where the strongest pirates and thus the symbols of piracy reside.
Taking them down, is the beginning of the end, even if by doing so the Old GL will suffer, because as it was said in latest chapter, lawless zones and criminal/pirate activity will increase.
Kill the big guys than deal with the smaller fishes, that is the new way of doing things.
Any way should be interesting and I only have 2 simple wishes for chapter 599.
1. Zoro is shown with both eyes open (it isn't in his nature to wink or anything like that, hence the worry)
2. The Fake SHs don't take too many panels of the next chapters. (they aren't exactly fodder, but they served their "purpose" by luring in the Marines (although I guess Oda could do without that too) SH's simply don't catch a break, always in the center of attention.
