Whitebeard was underwhelming, and luffys face when ace died was retarded. His mouth looked like a hamburger, it took away alot of the seriousness from the scene. also first comment YAY!!! :D http://www.mangafox.com/manga/one_piece/v58/c574/18.html
Most Disappointing Thing in One Piece
-
-
The fact that Chapter 598 hasn't come out yet.
You must get disappointed quite alot…
...once a week? Is that not too far off a guess?
-
I want to like Nami. I really do. However I don't like how she is portrayed as a bitchy Ms. Fanservice. I mean, she does have her redeeming moments and her good scenes but it'd be nice if it could just be toned it down. It doesn't help that I just don't like Ms. Fanservice characters to begin with
-
@Muda:

Well, usually the chapter is out by this late in the day, and we just had a one month break. I also don't read spoilers.
-
that only happened in the anime right?
It's all blurring together now.
I felt Impel Down had the shittiest ending ever. I kept saying to myself, "Man! How the hell is he gonna beat Megellan? This is going to be the craziest battle ever!" And I waited. And waited… And suddenly, they escaped. No closure, no final battle or anything. So un-OP I just couldn't believe it. To make things worse Magellan had an off-screen defeat by someone he had just annihilated 4 chapters back.

Luffy hadn't the time to fight Magellan. A fight like that before the war would have been a stupid decision, so it would go against the plot. You got to see a bit of Magellan vs Luffy with his candle armor. I liked the ending, especially the Bon Boy sacrifice and emotional conversation with Luffy. Impel Down was a warm up for the war.
Most disapointing things… obviously the fact that Pell, Conis' dad, Igaram, or anyone else who looked like they were going to get wasted, survived.
Also I don't like how Zoro is being trained by Mihawk. Maybe Oda will make me feel differently. Come on 598 !!
-
I'm kinda disapointed in how Sanji has become less badass since the end of Enies Lobby and more of a comic relief charcter. His comedic scenes are funny but i still want to see more of the Mr Prince type Sanji that i know and love.
-
I know he was in a time crunch but that would a great incentive to kick Magellans ass. Even if Megellan had followed them to the war, that would have been better than him getting his ass beaten off-screen in a mysterious fashion. He wouldn't even have to fight Luffy, just the idea of him actually doing something other than getting ace'd (lol) so easily right after proving hes better than everyone is just kind of a cop out.
And Bon-chan's sacrifice was my favorite part about the whole arc in general. Made the ending almost satisfying.
-
I'm surprised, noone has mentioned the thing about Garp and Dragon being luffys father and grandfather. I know that its a trademark for shonen, that the protagonist gets really powerfull parents, but I had loved, if luffy remained just a normal boy.
And Im really afraid, that Luffys Mom will turn out to be some uber imporant person too. -
One thing that annoys me is when they use words from other languages for attacks. I speak french, so when I see things like "Coup de BURST!" (Gust of BURST!) it's kinda lame (Coup de vent = gust of wind), and when Sanji's kicking someone and shouts out random french words for body parts, or sometimes names of french dishes, or Robin's "Treinta fleurs" for example, which is a mix of spanish and french. Treinta = 30 in spanish, fleurs = flowers in french. I dunno. It just sounds lame to someone who's familiar with the languages, although I wonder if it sounds cool to people who aren't.
I also could not comprehend how Croc went from saying "I'll only cooperate with you guys to get out of Impel Down, after that i'm going for Whitebeard's head", gets stopped by Luffy, then after that basically protects Luffy and fights on his side.
EDIT: One last thing, I hate how whenever anyone cries, their nose does too. It makes everyone look dumb. It's okay for the comical characters once in a while in a funny moment, but in a serious moment I hate that >_<

1. It sounds quite cool to people who don't know the languages actually, but the complaint is definitely understandable.
2. Character development
3. Tears are accompanied by sniveling noses, especially in the mangaversePell and Pagaya not dying. I noticed some were complaining about Igaram too, but if I remember right Robin spared him. Also, the war did not live up to expectations (of course it was kinda like the Seinfeld finale in that regard; it was not POSSIBLE to live up to something that hyped), though what I expected (Marines win a very very pyrrhic victory, Schichibukai ends up disbanding, throwing the balance of power out of wack and making the New World even crazier obviously didn't happen because the timeskip would have made this stuff moot since the Marines would have rebuilt) Other than that, Foxy hasn't lost his DBF to Buggy yet! I don't want it to happen offscreen during the timeskip! Oh, and PX-1 needs his coverstory. On a more serious note, I did not like how Thriller Bark had a copout ending, and the Zombie Generals would have been better enemies than Absalom (Perona was fine as an enemy. ONLY an enemy, not a SH).
-
I know he was in a time crunch but that would a great incentive to kick Magellans ass.
No it wouldn't. It was literally the opposite. And you have to be an idiot to not notice this was the case.
You're whining about "closure" and some cliche shonen finisher, don't pretend for one second you can argue logic to support your complaint.Even if Megellan had followed them to the war,
Which would make no fucking sense.
that would have been better than him getting his ass beaten off-screen in a mysterious fashion.
He's not dead is he?
He'll come back in some fashion at some point.
There's nothing wrong with Blackbeard fighting him off screen. He wouldn't even have to fight Luffy, just the idea of him actually doing something other than getting ace'd (lol) so easily right after proving hes better than everyone is just kind of a cop out.
Yeah, it's a total cop out to be beaten by an incredibly powerful dude who is clearly his superior given that he's Yonkou material. And it's a bigger cop out to have it happened after he proves he's better then everyone, even though he never proved he was better then everyone.
Basically shut your trap if you're this bad at following the story, because you only have yourself to blame for this let down.
-
To all the pants-for-franky people there, I believe that if he wore anything less revealing than his ghastly speedo, he would have a hard time for the coup do boo.
I personally hate the fact that pell didn't die, that's a given i guess. It would have been more dramatic. Luffy being hurt by lucci's "ultimate move" is something that I still don't get. I hate myself for that.
-
My major gripe is the inconsistency in Devil Fruits–primarily paramecias. From what we've seen in general, paramecias either give the users a theme or the ability to produce (i.e. Luffy being a rubberman is a theme, whereas Magellan forming poison is a production).
- Mr. 3 is given the production aspect of his wax fruit, yet we strangely see him melting in blazing/starvation hell at Impel Down like a heated candle, suggesting that he was also given the theme aspect.
- Law's fruit is neither production nor a theme, it is just a (weird) power. The same goes for Brook? Really, the Yomi Yomi no Mi was just a pathetic excuse for Brook to exist. The same goes for Laffitte and his wings (unless later there will be some sort of explanation for manipulating certain parts of zoan powers).
- Speaking of Zoans, just what the hell are "awakened zoans?" Please explain this already, because those four demon guards just look stupid.
:3 /inconsistency rant
Now, of all the arcs in One Piece so far, the only two that I've skipped due to complete and total boredom were Skypeia and Thriller Bark. I loved the concept of Skypeia in itself, but the plot line that followed was just such a chore to read through, and it dragged on forever and ever… As for Thriller Bark, I hated everything about that arc. Especially Moria. Gawd, he looks so freaking stupid... And don't even get me started on Perona.anticipates fandom flaming

Ok, I have recently reread the manga again. Are you sure Pell Survived? There is no direct indication that he lived as far as I know.
Oh and for the topic, I did not like the Foxy Arc. It was useless filler in my opinion. Most dissappointing Arc.
-
Ok, I have recently reread the manga again. Are you sure Pell Survived? There is no direct indication that he lived as far as I know.
Yes the direct indication is everywhere. At the end of the arc, Pell leaves some medic guy's house and the guy is says "Sir you forgot your hat." While holding Pell's hat. (Vol. 24)
If that not enough, We see Pell alive when the whole crew gets their bounties. He is shocked to see that Nico Robin is part of Luffy's crew, but Vivi already knew that. (Vol. 45) -

@JERK:
No it wouldn't. It was literally the opposite. And you have to be an idiot to not notice this was the case.
You're whining about "closure" and some cliche shonen finisher, don't pretend for one second you can argue logic to support your complaint.Right, because having to fight for his freedom to save his brother is such a weak motivation he definitely wouldn't have given it his all. I don't expect Luffy to beat someone who's really that strong, in fact I kind of enjoyed mixing up of the typical strength ladder most shows follow. My beef is there was really no final confrontation, fight, conversation or otherwise.
@JERK:
Which would make no fucking sense.
I don't see how it would make no sense, but in retrospect I agree that would probably have been a bad move.
@JERK:
He's not dead is he?
He'll come back in some fashion at some point.
There's nothing wrong with Blackbeard fighting him off screen. There's nothing 'wrong' with most of the gripes in this thread, it's just kind of lame. Blackbeard doesn't have some fucking mysterious power that we're not supposed to know about yet, why can't get a feel for his strength by watching him beat the dude who just almost killed Luffy and the others? And of course I think he might come back but apparently in your mind leaving the prison 'makes no fucking sense' so what major part could he possibly play unless he resigns and chases them like Smoker did.
@JERK:
Yeah, it's a total cop out to be beaten by an incredibly powerful dude who is clearly his superior given that he's Yonkou material. And it's a bigger cop out to have it happened after he proves he's better then everyone, even though he never proved he was better then everyone.
Forgive me for being mistaken that he was better than everyone by beating them 1 on 1 in succession. Obviously he's stronger than all of Luffy's mates, which makes it all the more desirable to at least have some foreshadowing as to where his character is going after this. The way it ended just made it look like he was written out.
@JERK:
Basically shut your trap if you're this bad at following the story, because you only have yourself to blame for this let down.
Honestly I don't see why you're being such a douche about this. I'm not even that disappointed with the ending I just thought I'd make a post to see if anyone had any other insights on it. No reason to get all butthurt on me.
-
I really really dislike Nami. In my eyes, she's just gotten progressively more irritating as her character development has in turn grown.
That's really the only thing that really irks me. I mean, things like Pell not dying and other shit like that are sort of weird, but it doesn't really leave any lasting effects considering it doesn't really matter in the long run.
-
anyone who thinks Franky should have pants shouldn't be reading One Piece
-
I didn't like the way Law helped Luffy escape the war. Friendly rivalries are boring unless they're as deep as Luffy and Shanks. I still don't get Law's motives… why go so far just to save someone to continue future rivarly? The war was a big task for Oda, and at times it seemed like he was adding ideas from the top of his head. Another example of that would be Crocodile stopping Ace from being executed. Oda having Crocodile "not wanting the WG to win" was kinda out of nowhere. I always imagined Crocodile not giving a shit about anyone winning unless he gets his way.
-
I wish the crew interacted more with eachother. Not that there hasn't been some great interaction, especially during the CP9 arc, but some more would be appreciated. I particularly want to see Franky interact with Zoro and/or Sanji, and Robin with Nami; those would help out the family structure a bit more in my opinion.
-
For the most part, I was pretty disappointed by Enies Lobby. The events that happened in Water 7, Franky and Robin's flashbacks, and the fights on the Puffing Tom were all great, though. As soon as the crew started their fights against the CP9, I began to lose interest, and I felt that having Zoro and Usopp handcuffed together dragged on longer than it needed to be.

I have never thought about that but now that you mention it some of the newer crew mates have had almost no interaction with the golden oldies, such as Franky and pretty much most of them now you mention it, how odd.. ODA, MORE OF THIS PLZ

Enies Lobby did drag a bit. In hindsight I think the fights on the Puffing Tom were unneeded and if that was shorter it would have made Enies Lobby more bearable.

Dont get me wrong, I love a bit of back story i'm not just watching OP for the epic fights, but when they finally get to Enies Lobby and you're REALLY pumped to see some EPIC fights, it pissed me off SO much that you have to sit through like 10 episodes of the characters childhood/past. I WANTED TO KNOW, HONESTLY, but why put it right there!?
Inappropriate!!!Phew. Kinda went off on one there. Apologies!
-
Right, because having to fight for his freedom to save his brother is such a weak motivation he definitely wouldn't have given it his all.
As opposed to running away toward his brother from a completely unnecessary fight.
I don't expect Luffy to beat someone who's really that strong, in fact I kind of enjoyed mixing up of the typical strength ladder most shows follow. My beef is there was really no final confrontation, fight, conversation or otherwise.
It's called Marineford, because that was the only purpose of Impel Down, a pregame for Marineford.
I can't even imagine an idiot complaining about no final fight in Impel Down when it results directly in Marie fucking Ford's war.
There is completely zero structural need for you and your goofy rematch.
Zero logical need, zero everything. You just want your pointless shonen fight.
I don't see how it would make no sense, but in retrospect I agree that would probably have been a bad move.
Yeah probably it would be a bad move to fight a guy capable of instant KOs who has nothing to do with your objective anymore.
There's nothing 'wrong' with most of the gripes in this thread, it's just kind of lame.
There sure as hell is with your gripe.
Blackbeard doesn't have some fucking mysterious power that we're not supposed to know about yet, why can't get a feel for his strength by watching him beat the dude who just almost killed Luffy and the others?
What the hell suspense would there be about Blackbeard's status during the Marineford fight would there be if we saw he was completely on top of the Impel Down situation. None at all.
And where the hell would their fight show up anyway. What a pointless distraction it would have been.
And of course I think he might come back but apparently in your mind leaving the prison 'makes no fucking sense' so what major part could he possibly play unless he resigns and chases them like Smoker did.
A lot can happened in 2 goddamn years, don't try and compare my comment about the immediate aftermath of Luffy's escape to any given time in the future.
Forgive me for being mistaken that he was better than everyone by beating them 1 on 1 in succession.
lol at you praising non-linear shonen power before and then not getting this.
Obviously he's stronger than all of Luffy's mates, which makes it all the more desirable to at least have some foreshadowing as to where his character is going after this. The way it ended just made it look like he was written out.
I'm glad the lesson you learned from Impel Down was "Oda writes off villains after arcs", you're a sharp guy.
Honestly I don't see why you're being such a douche about this. I'm not even that disappointed with the ending I just thought I'd make a post to see if anyone had any other insights on it. No reason to get all butthurt on me.

Knowing we are halfway of the series and we only got 10 more years full of one piece ahead of us

the most disappointing thing in one piece is this 4 week break.

Magellan wasn't beaten by Blackbeard alone. He faced a fucking tromb of the strongest prisoners the world has ever seen, Blackbeard among them, yes.
I think it was conveniently off-panel, since that probably wouldn't have even been a fight.
Plus, Shiryu was with them, and he had the antidote to Magellan's poison.

See, I had never considered that. What a respectful and constructive post!
Really looking forward to seeing Blackbeards completely stacked team in action. Maybe he's added new guys in the past two years.
-
You know what is disappointing? This new chapter being delayed. -.- It hard to stay away from spoilers.
-
A few disappoinment here is the most disappointing thing in the series
-
It used to be the no-death rule
-
I think waiting for the new chapter is the most dissappointing thing. XD
-
My personal most disappointing thing in OP:
Good-hearted Shichibukai like Jimbei and Hancock (Jimbei even more than Hancock, she treats at least pets and her people like trash!)
Another disappointment:
All the top tier fighter in OP-world (WB and Sengoku) having DFs especially Sengoku's DF is kinda "WTF!?". -
Moria coming back in the war trying to talk shit when he got K.Oed by jimbei
-
Nami's new hair.
-
Franky's new hair. (or lack of)
-
The most disappointing thing to me is when characters make sacrifices and come back. While I have been led to believe it is inevitable for Mr. 2 to reappear, I will/would still be very unhappy about it. Logic dictates where all of the characters were at the time of the confrontation and exactly how angry Magellan was about the whole incident, so really Mr. 2 shouldn't make it out of there.
Curse you One Piece. Such a great story aside from that. But of course nothing can really top Pell's survival.
-
You can chalk up another mark for how disappointing Sanji's been as of late. To me, he just hasn't been interesting as of late. I think for me, it was around Enies Lobby, or Thriller Bark. He had a lot of badass moments before, especially his fight against the Unluckies in Little Garden, Mr. Prince in Alabasta, or wrecking the Maxim back in Skypiea, though. Hopefully, my opinion on him will change after we see what the last two years have done to him.
While I'm on the subject of Sanji, Baratie didn't catch my interest, either. Sanji and Zeff were the only two things I liked about that arc, and Luffy's fight with Don Krieg was at least entertaining.
-

What about Zoro vs Mihawk?
-
What about Zoro vs Mihawk?
Oh, right! I forgot about that!
I'm a bit bummed out that we'll probably never see Mr. 9 again. It's safe to assume that he's one of the few characters that Oda really decided to kill in the main timeline. It's a shame, because I really liked him and Vivi's Team Rocket-esque antics.
-
The fact that the whole "secret" of Crocodile was never revealed is a huge disappointment to me. In hindsight it seems like a cheap plot device.
-

One Piece isn't over yet, now is it?
-
What was the secret of Crocodile about again?
-
It must be Pell surviving his sacrifice. It ruined everything.
I was also disappointed with the strongest CP9 in the history being defeated even by the likes of Nami.
