Yeah, this was my reaction exactly when I read that–definitely made me nervous. Not that familiar with his work, but... He'd better not mess with Freddy. Only thing that makes me feel a bit better is that I read once that comdey is much harder to perform convincingly than drama, and the man can definitely do comedy, so... Here's hoping!

There's not a single villain in One Piece who isn't a redeemable villain. Except maybe Spandam, who I now know is not an asshole, he's a douchebag. So I don't think he truly counts.

Nah, I'm referring to all anime. All my favorite characters so far have been redemable ones. xD Gazille, Vegita, Viral, Crocodile, Zim, House, Greedling… those are the main ones I can think of. There are so minor ones too. But I can't think of 'em right now.

Redeemable villains are easy to like since we can related or understand them.

The general population of 'cold blooded villains' that everyone likes are those who thrive on pure chaos toward the point of mental insanity. At least, those are the ones I like.

I love both those types of characters. But redemable villains win against psychopaths for me. However, I don't like the nice characters. I hate goody goody characters, but I hate assholes as well. Such a fine line of mine.

I don't know. I could easily say that Luffy is a 'goody goody', but I adore Luffy.

I think the prime example of a 'goody goody' in which I despise is Cyclops. Not James Marsden Cyclops (movie Cyclops). Other Cyclops in general.

That scene in the X-Men movie where Cyclops looks towards the little boy staring at him, the little boy smiles, and Cyclops gives a smile back…THAT'S how Cyclops should be. Not asshole Cyclops who considers Wolverine a wild animal long after he more than proved himself useful for the team.

Sorry for the rant. I just don't like Cyclops.

Eneru is my favorite psycho in One Piece, but he's kind of on a whole different level of crazy. I can't think of any other major insane characters atm, but I do kind of agree that people tend to like characters that we can relate to at some level.
