Anybody else think Robin's still a little bitchy?
Do you mean that "so your not gutless" line to Nami?
I happen to find that line funny, and honestly I don't see what's so bad about that line. So I'll disagree and say NO, NO & NO

Wow, that was pretty weak singing for Sabat. Oh well, I still like the song.
My throat gets sore and hurts just from hearing Colleen trying to sing in her Luffy voice. God, I feel really sorry for her. She did lessen the whole gruffness thing by the second time she was singing though. And everybody else is pretty great. Especially Nami.
Got my set today and finished the first disc.
Concasse's was not restored in the uncut version. He still says "Delicious!"
But I may be the only person who actually liked that line. o_O
I for one loved that line, so much that I had to use it in an AMV.

That duet really just makes Clinkenbeard look worse in comparison to Tanaka.
nah
dub version definitely pwned the original, sorry, had to say it
anyways on another topic, whats the next song that involves the crew gonna be?
also does anyone have a schedule for the other dvd's ?

I basically took parts out to make it sound like each side was taking turns to sing. To keep the effect of both sets of actors "being in the same room," I had to take away the Left/Right effect, but yeah, it turned out fine.
Awesome song. Thanks for posting.
However, what's jarring is that it's not Zoro singing in English at one point, but Yamcha! My image of a happy group of people is replaced by exploding Saibamen.

The Strawhat version of We Are for Enies Lobby is next. Unless, like Mikey said, we happen to get the Romance Dawn OVA dubbed before then, in which case we'd get A Thousand Dreamers (forgot how much I liked that song).

Eh, not really. If you're referring to when they all swung over to Upper Yard, it seemed more like a compliment to me, like she was actually a bit impressed that Nami managed to swing over at all.

I thought Colleen sounded pretty good…That said, I'll admit this song serves as a good example of how much they've improved since the beginning.
I mean Robin in general. Maybe it's just the fact that Stephanie got off to a bad start with Robin and sounds stiff as a board sometimes.
Hey guys, I just got my set. Now for those of you who remember I'm the one who compared the CN versions to the DVD versions with extensive notes. I still have yet to cover the last episode on the previous set so I'll restart my comparisons from there. Since I have a 3 day weekend you'll probably start seeing the comparisons sometime late late tonight but for now I'm just going to enjoy watching my DVD set for pure entertainment.
O-chan
God, I forgot how long the Satori fight dragged.
I guess it helps that a lot of stuff was happening.

Can't wait to read your detailed comparisons. Since I never got to see the original TV broadcast dub, it helps to learn how it was originally presented and the improvements the uncut dub has over the cut one.
From what I can tell:
The "zero… I mean Zoro... I mean Zolo" line was kept.
Robin's "serious greed issue" line was changed to something less bitchy though I can't remember off hand

Since the point of that scene was Usopp getting his name wrong, he did it in Japanese too, I find the fact that they left "Zolo" in there an hysterical In-joke! I love it!
In other news, I've once again had order issues with payment.
I get paid TODAY, so this issue will be an Issue no more! HAHA! I should get the thing next week.
Okay. I got the dvd. A couple of things I noticed:
-The back cover for this set and the last set are near identical, right down to the episode pictures.
-In the commentary, Stephanie Young started talking about Robin's past and started talking about Robin's relationship with her mother, to which Mike McFarland somewhat told her "we haven't gotten there yet, shut up!!!!". Not in those words, of course, but it seemed to imply that. This either means that Stephanie researched her character in depth to know at least a little about what happened at Ohara, or Season 4 has been in production and Robin's past had been/was being recorded at the time the commentary for this set was.
-Set includes Opening 3 (Towards the Light), Opening 4 (Bon Voyage!), Ending 10 (Faith), Ending 11 (A to Z), and the "Family" insert song.
Yeah, they at least toned down SOME of Robin's bitchier lines. For instance.
Robin: Fighting over who's most pathetic. Nice. –tv version
Robin: They're fighting over who's most pathetic? How odd...-- DVD version
Also, I'm noticing that the tv version was omitting some instances of saying the words "kill" and "death". Which is weird because most of the time they left words like that alone, so why edit down "some"? Two parts that come off my mind...
Conis: If we don't... The penalty will be severe.--tv version

...also...
Shura: Just one? Surely you're not the only sacrifice I get to make.--tv version

Hmmm... It's weird.
Watched all 13 eps on my lovely new FAVORITE One Piece dvd boxset, only thing I'm saddened by is the fact Tatum didn't do Eneru's laugh right, I was soo soo hoping for it DX GHNNNNN other than that, spot on BEAUTIFUL, there was NOT enough episodes for me ;_; I wanted MORE MORE MORE!!! I loved watching it uncut and in it's original format, god, was it a relief, a 3 year relief!!! Gotta say, Sonny Strait is my FAV person in this boxset, that, and Todd Habbercorn playing one of the Divine Warriors. I died laughing xD

Wasn't it metioned by Tatum or Mike that they only did the laugh a couple times towards the end of this arc to give homage to the seiyuu/eneru's character? I don't remember were i read it though :ninja:

The first set there were very little instances of "bitch" Robin, not so much here. I feel asleep before I could finish the first disc but when they're all leaving the ship after being sent to Upper Yard Robin's "You're not completely gutless" line is kept and there are a few places where she seems to have a more direct and assertive tone of voice then the more consistently calm and matter-of-fact voice in the Japanese version. It does seem to give Robin more of an edge in the English version but I'm still not sure if that's a good thing or not.

Just got my set, first thing I did was watch Luffy's island song. While I did not like Colleen's "Family" she did good on the island song!
I can't wait till they make it to Water 7 and Enies Lobby, so many good songs. I've been wanting to hear the english Straw Hat We Are for ages. =p I also wanna hear Sonny's rendition of the Sogeking song.
Soge, soge-soge! :p
i asked this question a few pages back & no one seems to give a shit about answering it, do i guess i'll ask again ! is there a preview/trailer for s3v3 on this set ?
Have you guys tried uploading clips to sites that aren't YouTube?

Its been answered and no there is not.

It was answered once it was asked again, but it seems you don't give a shit about reading the thread. Because if you did, you would see that someone said there was no preview for Season 3 Third Voyage on this set.
Great to hear it, man. I love reading your comparisons.
Me too. One dialogue change that stuck out to me was in the campfire episode where Luffy described the City of Gold as…"a City of Gold". In the TV version Usopp said something like "Do you ever think before opening your fat mouth?!" However in the DVD, he says "You're such a dumbass! Do you ever think before you talk?!"
I found the DVD line a lot funnier for some reason, probably because it was so obviously something not kept in the CN episode. Sonny is so right for Usopp.

Wow, you're like an adbot or something.
I have to thank the adbot though. Apparently, I accidentally ordered that DVD set twice. Now I can cancel the second one.

Adbot eh? …....
I'm glad I'm not the only one who's having trouble getting through this set. Usually I blow through the whole voyage in one sitdown but I'm just having trouble doing it with this one… Then again the Satori fight and the events during it aren't the most interesting part One Piece has to offer :P lol
That and, you know, we've already seen Skypeia dubbed.
I can't believe I'm still not done with this set.
Still got last two episodes left.
Skypiea had a terrible, terrible start.

Some of you, this is my first time, I missed the broadcast run.

I wouldn't say terrible but you don't get that super excitement once the anitial shock of a city in the clouds wears off. Not to mention the Satori fight drags on for like 3 episodes. But once Nami figures out Skypiea was once part of Jaya thats where it really gets exciting for me.
So 2 more sets to finish off skypiea?
Blast, not gonna get it until at least Monday, maybe even Tuesday… Oh well, at least it's a week less of having to wait for V3. ;b

Well the way I've guessed it is: 2 more for Skypiea, 1 for G8, 1 for Davy Back, and then finally Ocean Dream/Water 7

eh its one of those YMMV type of things if you know what i mean
Got my set yesterday and watched all of it today. It was easy for me since I hadn't seen any of English Skypeia since Cartoon Network canceled it. Though really Satori was about two episodes too long.
I wouldn't say the pacing for Water 7 or Enies Lobby is too bad. It didn't start to get bad until Thriller Bark, and by Amazon Lily it started to get really annoying (also were the animation is at it's sloppiest)
Im just really excited about Kokoro No Chizu. My Fav opening!
Just saw the entire set…the only thing left is the commentary. I thought Satori was going to annoy me to hell with his damned "HOHO-HOHO" laugh, but compared to the Japanese dub it sounded more tolerable for me in the English dub. Satori's fight might have been a bit long, but hey...there was a lot of stuff happening to the crew at the moment, so there was a lot of variety in each episode. Part Satori fight, part Chopper survival, and part Nami/Robin/Zoro adventure, which I found great since I didn't remember that much how it went in the anime since the last thing I saw of Skypiea was in the manga. Was disappointed at moments with Luffy's, Conis', and Gan Fall's voice in certain scenes where the voice acting sounded emotionless for some reason. But overall, really enjoyed it.

I would probably have to say the show started to go down hill after it switched art styles and switched to HD. The original art style might've been simple, but it stayed Consistent! The newer one is too much of a mess with a melting pot of quality. Also the pacing during Enies Lobby was the worst the series has ever had, and I don't think its going to recover.
I wished Toei would've pulled an Alabasta on us during Thriller Bark. And had a few light hearted episodes where we get to know Brook and Franky and how they interact with the crew. Similar to how they did this with Robin in Alabasta.
Then I was hoping for a mid size filler arc, and a large one. I don't really care what they did because, I just wanted some padding. I personally would've loved to see Unlimited Adventure as a fillar arc. We would get to see some fan favorites again like Smoker, or Crocodile; and it wasn't a bad plot. It fit the show.
I almost bought Season 2 Voyage 6 and 7, because Fry's had a sale on Anime; buy one one free. And with both at the price of 30 bucks, it would've made them 15. Got excited, but One Piece S2V6 was ANIMATION and One Piece S2V7 was ANIME. So it didn't count on the sale.

I also can't wait for a official dub opening of that.

They did do that for Brook, episode 384 I believe.

I meant for a few more episode like how Robin pretty much got an episode per member.
The Thriller Bark-Sabaody gap should've been much, much larger. Three episodes was NOT enough, considering the path from Sabaody to the current manga chapter leaves very little room for filler.
I think they should've gave us a 20-30 episode gap there. That would;ve put the manga far enough ahead that Impel Down and Marineford could have 2-chapter episodes, or even chapter-and-a-half episodes.
The advantages would've been great too. More Brook time. More Franky time. Could have given us some neat villains, etc.

Toei really don't like filler arcs. It was the same with Dragon Ball Z, which only had two.
