@robbybedfart:
Its all good as long as neither the United States nor the Japanese government ever learns of Greg's involvement in it all.
That's funny 'cause I am too.
TAG YOU'RE IT!
I've got the perfect place. You'll never find me there.
Shame on you 2. Playing your game in here. This is a delicate matter, of someone's life, struggle and hardships.
Would you equally allow yourselves to run into an old people's home dressed as The Grim Reaper?
No, you would not. So playing games while discussing someone's life of pain and sufferings … Have some heart guys. :cwy:
Flux, Robby just said what needed to be said.
Greg, on the other hand, has long co-operated with Shueisha to cover Oda's crime by spreading false information about him, while secretly helping us in the investigation. His joking attitude is the badassery of a challenging warrior who has been fooling Shueisha for half a decade (hyperbole). He is too used to it to mourn over Oda's misery like us.
Of course, playing tag game here crossed the line a bit.
That really seems to come out of a spy movie Mr Sea… :ninja:
How was he able to fool Shueisha like that...? I wonder what they'll do if they ever find out...
I still can't believe what I just read! So is Nobuhiro Watsuki really dead? At what point in the Rurouni Kenshin manga did Oda take over?
I still can't believe what I just read!
That's natural. You will accept it soon.
So is Nobuhiro Watsuki really dead?
Yes, he is dead. But newspaper and TV won't tell you so.
@aces3333:
At what point in the Rurouni Kenshin manga did Oda take over?
Since the Enishi arc, if I remember correctly.
That really seems to come out of a spy movie Mr Sea… :ninja:

Yeah, I admit that I was using hyperbole a bit, and, my bad, I was half-joking in that post. Maybe calling him warrior is a bit laughable and flattering, but, you should understand that: In order to help Oda cover his crime, he made this website: http://www.thegrandline.com/frames.html to spread the "false" information about Oda that Shueisha wants us to know. Thanks to working with Shueisha, he also gains knowledge about Oda that most of us doesn't, and he tricks them by hinting some truth about Oda, cleverly hidides them among the false information :"This is all here for your enjoyment and since this introduction has been based on a pirate story, I suggest you begin enjoying it by discovering what it has to offer. Look around and uncover things, from time to time I have even hidden little "extras" within the site for anyone clever enough to find them." Only those who love and pay attention enough to One Piece can find them (and smart enough), and those people won't do anything harmful to One Piece, including me and JERK DISEASE.
He is risking his future, of course. Admirable, at least.
Everyone, by revealing this truth about Oda, I hope to send you some messages.
1. Never blame your situation, never blame fate for not giving you talent. Remember what Oda has gone through when you face hardship. Follow your dream, no matter what. Dream, but don't just dream. Work hard for it. Never look at successful people and think they are so lucky. Don't whine, just try. Don't let the ferocious wave of life wash you away. Ride on it. Don't let the brutal storm of misery blow you away. Let it rise your wings.
2. Always remember that you are not alone, and learn to accept your loved ones for what they are. Oda has Chiaki to stand by his side in his darkest night, to share his suffering. Oda has Chiaki to stand next to him, in his brightest day, to share his happiness. She isn't a very good woman by normal standard, but she is very good to him. Together we are stronger. Accept your companion's strength and weakness, for no human is perfect. By learning that we can understand each other more and co-exist peacefully in this Earth, and gain an incredible strength.
3. Learn to forgive and to give people a second chance, and don't judge people by what they look like, or some mistake they did in the past. Like Luffy once said: "I don't care about the past". Perhaps Oda was thinking about himself when he had Luffy say so. This girl has got it right:
@chlj:
I think (if it's really Oda's fault) Oda has redeemed himself and just wants a peaceful and humble life from now on. And I believe that, after everything he went trough, that is something we should be able to give him.
If you want to hate him or love him from now on, that's up to you. But please remember that as we were born with the ability to blame, we were also born with the ability to forgive and that everyone deserves a second chance.
Positive energy. That is what you should get from learning this story. This story is really horrific, and cruel. And that is what life is. But by revealing it, I don't hope to give you trauma, make you cry, fear, feel uncomfortable and even get depressed, but in the opposite, I hope it can give you strength to overcome your difficulties, reach the goals you deserve; I hope it can give you an inspiration, to not give up and lose direction in life, no matter how harsh your situation is. Remember, there is always someone out there that has to suffer much more than you, but can overcome it to accomplish his dream and obtain happiness.
Let me know Oda's life gives you this positive energy, this wing of desire to reach the high sky of which you dream. For that is the reason I am doing it. Otherwise, the struggle we went through to discover and reveal this truth is, indeed, meaningless.

Those 3 points .. 3 points– Man I can't believe I'm crying now :cwy:
That's alright isn't it? I hope you all don't think bad of me for crying..
It's just such a sad story. Seriously, Thank you so much Sea. That can give anyone strength.
The next time I fail a test, or stumble and fall, I won't whine. I'll just think of Oda, look at the sky and smile.

that's very sweet of you, thank you so much !
when i had read oda's lifestory i also thought of what luffy said: 'i don't care about the past'. that's one of the reasons why i love luffy.
his story defenitely gives me postive energy, just like his manga.

Cry as much as you want! It's always good to let it all out, no one needs to be brave all the time, you know?
:cwy:
That is the sweetest thing ever. I want to be like you when I grow up, Mr Sea!!
I posted this thread in the naruto forum one piece section and probably gonna get flamed for it lol… Is it okay? or do you want me to delete the thread?
Oh man, reading through all of this thread has made me shed manly tears. I don't think I'll ever look at One Piece the same way again.
But still, this story is a testament to what One Piece has been trying to teach us all: never give up on your dreams, even if you're in hell itself! The sheer determination and ambition of Oda should be inspiring to all of us, but thinking about how tragic his life has been… it's just so terrible.
Thank you jerk disease for bringing this information to the public. Its too bad they had to cover up his past for nationalism. I'm amazed in those years he overcame his disability and became what he is today.

Are you trying to troll? Laughing at Oda's sad life… What a heartless ass...:getlost:
You misunderstood my intentions. Oda show us through One Piece how important laughing is. In spite of his horrible life, Oda is still able to make us laugh. All the SH had sad past, but look how cheerful they can be. Oda wants to show us that even if bad things happen, we should never forget the good parts of life. I think he is now finally able to enjoy himself and to laugh.
That's why I posted this video, to make us remember than enjoying ourselves, laughing… is what life is all about despites our sufferings. I think we should all laugh to clearly show that we really understood Oda's message.

Oh, I see. Haha, that makes sense. Oda's such a great man to want to bring smiles to so many faces even after going through so much.
I have another question. (Please don't kill me. :cwy:)
At Jump Fiesta event the One Piece VA asked the audience to say "Oddachi itsumo arigatou". Oda was then seen on the verge of tears (I think).
Why?
I mean, Oddachi was a nickname his friends at school gave him right?
So maybe he cried because he was thinking about his real past, or maybe because everyone said it?
By the way, does everyone connected to One Piece (voice actors, animators, etc) know about his past, or only the Jump staff?

Actually Oda's past is not that much of a secret. It was quite well-known in Japan. Kinda like a taboo everyone avoids mentioning, especially with foreigners.
He cried because he felt he was treasured and appreciated so much. Many people there knew his past, yet they forgave him and gave him so much warm appreciation and cheers. That really moved him to tear. If I were Odacchi, I would cry too.
Sign, it is such a shame that loledinmypants got a ban because he supported Tsukishima's laughing video and also multiple-posted many other laughing videos which were all deleted, while Tsukishima edited it out of his post and expressed his regret. I spoke to the mods so they only gave Tsukishima an infraction and banned him from posting in this thread for 3 days. You can see his apology in his sig though. And because Loled supported spreading the information about before so I asked the mod to give him only a temporary ban. He will come back soon.
Seriously, guys, there is plenty other threads for a laughing video and other funny stuff in this forum. This isn't a place for us to laugh. This is an serious INFORMATION thread.

I just received a news from Japan. It confirmed not only the rumors that Chiaki poisoned Togashi, but how she did it. She secretly dated with him and invited him to some parties. It was said that they only dated in a romantic way, like talking and chatting, no further...uhm...interaction. His wife, the author of Sailor Moon, figured this and divorced with him last year, unknowing to the fact that he also was tricked. Before, she helped him to draw HunterXHunter, but now, he had to do it himself, plus his illness due to the poisoning, hence the constant hiatuses. Chiaki also stopped interacting with him since that point. She told a friend that she was tired of dealing with businesses like this and only want a happy life with her family from now on. I don't know if this is true.

I see… But lately I've been thinking about it and I kind of understand why they covered it up.
Of course older fans would understand everything and forgive him, but a 9-10 year old kid knowing about it would be quite a shock if they loved Oda. And I can't see a mother letting his son read a manga made by a killer.
That would be sad because Oda is really good and awesome and such a great person.

Hmmm…. So maybe it really was Chiaki that killed Watsuki.
Didn't Oda get sick some time ago? I'm sorry to think this way, but could it have been Chiaki? Although it's kind of improbable, right? Since they love each other...
when i first readed this , i thought jerk desease was trollin because i have seen him being rude to pther people, then sea came and because he is a pretty serious user and he was mad at the people who kept making fun, i thought that this might be real and than robby said it was true , and then i realized how sad oda's live was but for now , especcialy 2 things got my attention:
2)his wife: as far as i can hear here , she doesn't seem very innocent and it wouldn't suprise me if she killed somebody(still i dont know to much about here so its hard to tell)
and sea the three points gave me tears in my eyes , i should really let my brother read them , seeing he is in a depression and has done three suicide attemps he could really learn something about those :cwy:
ps:sorry for the sometimes bad senteces , but my english isnt great
This thread makes me sad. Very, very sad.
@metteminne:

Now come on.
I flame people constantly. But have you ever actually seen me troll? Be deliberately untrue to lie to people?
I don't do that.

sorry man , that was just the image i got from you
but that has changed
Jerk's a flamer, not a troll. Get your facts straight.
i can't find any video of oda
somebody has some interview with him ? could be in japanese
This is certainly something….well, quite frankly I can't find the words for it. I've never thought that Oda would have this sort of past. But, knowing this, I think One Piece becomes even more enjoyable to me.
I've always joked with my friends that, if I were to die right now, my biggest regret would be that I wouldn't get to finish reading One Piece. But there's some truth to that. Out of all the manga I've ever read, One Piece has always managed to grasp my attention and enjoyment much more firmly. But to know that this manga, which has always been filled with warmth and hope despite the absolutely tearjerking parts, had this sort of background... half of me is the way I always am. I don't believe anyone has an excuse to kill another but if they do, if they try to change, people shouldn't try to stop that. Yet, to look at One Piece now and know all this...it makes all the sorrow and hope seem that much more poignant. I can't help but see piece of Oda's past, and I wonder if I see pieces of Oda's hopes as well. "I don't care about the past!" huh...?
However, it's also true that some of the most beautiful works in the world have come from people's first hand experience of suffering. It's said that by being hurt, you being to understand other people's pain as well and that allows you to be kind.
I don't know. I'm just ranting now. This whole thing is rather disorienting XD I had the honor of attending Jump Fiesta. I was in the very back, so I didn't get a good look, but I was there when Oda and voice actors all came out to perform, and everyone shouted out "Odacchi, itsumo arigatou!". I didn't see any tears, but he was clearly shaken up. It takes on a whole different meaning now.
....Alright! I'm going to write Oda a letter! XD I definitely won't mention anything like this, but I suddenly just want to right a letter to him telling him how wonderful One Piece is. Doesn't that sound childish? XP Hey, does anyone have any comments I can put in for them? Somehow, it feels more complete if it contains the feelings of a lot of different people, from different places that are all connected through One Piece. Hm, but I don't know his address >_<. I'm sure it's somewhere though.
EDIT: I've been thinking, and while it's certainly a good idea if more people on AP knew about this thread, I don't think posting it outside of here is a good idea. Japanese IP addresses might be blocked here, but that's not the case in other places. It's a good way to get in trouble and traced back.
@JERK:
Guide to Oda's Office:
-Movies: I use these for reference !!! Reference !!!
-pictures of wife and kids: gotta keep my spirits up! family is always with me!!!
-Luffy Doll: given to me by Mr. Asashi, really too kind!!
-Suharto's preserved head in a jar: sic semper tyrannis, hell is too good you reeking swine
-Cup of Joe: just one cup a day for me!
You know, I still can't believe about him being a Timorese. I'm Indonesian, and from what I know. Timorese people has dark skin, curly hair and a couple of African physical characteristics. But point 4…...That point no. 4 sold me. Maybe his family were immigrants, maybe he got facial operations, but if he really hates Soeharto (thats the way the name is written, btw) like that then he definitely is Timorese
Umm.. is this thread serious?
Just read everything from the first page to get the idea.
Quite frankly, I thought at first this was all one big, really bad joke at first. You can call me heartless, but can you blame me? This sort of thing just isn't something that most people can imagine happening. It wouldn't matter if Oda was a famous mangaka or just a peasant somewhere. It's not so much BECAUSE it's Oda that it's so unbelievable, but the fact that this sort of story happening anywhere is hard to believe.
I'm still doing some searching on my own though. Covering up a court case isn't that hard, but covering up someone's death for years has to leave trails somewhere.
Wait, this thread isn't a joke?
Oooooh I feel uncomfortable now.
Ofc it´s a joke….right?
It doesn´t matter anyways. One piece is One piece even if the mangaka is a murderer.
What metteminne said. I cannot fathom someone being horrible enough to lie about something this tragic.
Thank you JERK DISEASE and Sea.
First time i've read JERK's first post, i thought he was joking and it gave me a good laugh.
Now i feel bad.
I won't look at Oda the same way anymore, and i kind of understand his reactions in his interview with Takashi Yanase in the recent color walk.
At one piece too.
Thank you guys.
I don't think it's a joke. I charge any of you to try and find Oda's portfolio on any of the western information sites. Either everything links back to Shueisha or there's simply no information about his childhood before he turns 17, when he first wrote his Wanted! one-shot for Jump. I'm going to ask JERK DISEASE for the links to any Japanese blogs or new sites that might still have any info to see if I can't find something physical that I can read myself.
"If you can't believe it, find evidence yourself" is what I think.
All I know is that he was born in kumamoto or something…
I still think that everything is just made up
Hush, be civil.
There's articles scattered with information about his past that's in English, that part's safe to say. They are, however, rather rare. The problem I'M personally running into, though, is that NONE of the sources I check ever trace back to any OTHER source besides Shueisha, which is what I'm looking for. A second or third party source that isn't being debated here.
Do you remember where you read about his birthplace?
The blogs I knew were shot down by Shueisha.
Fair enough. I have some friends in Japan I can ask, although I don't know if they'd be willing to talk about it. It's never anything I've thought to ask….because, well, it's not something you just think up on your own.
Such a tragic tale. Hey wait?– WAIT.
Is that why Oda give each of the Straw Hats, ie The HEROES - A Tragic Backstory?
Is he trying to teach his readers that it's not the circumstances you face, but how you overcome them?
