4 week break?!
Wake me up when September ends
You're asking what's important in that time span?
not just whats important but what to look forward to.
This chapter could be prescribed in place of viagra. So god damn good.
What will Zoro haki be? Obviously something to increase his sword right, but what?
@Tamaki:
not just whats important but what to look forward to.
But didn't you read it already? I'm confused.
Ya know, I remember when people theorized that each Strawhat would get a roushiki skill. It's the same here. Haki is cool, but just cause Luffy's learning it doesn't mean the other SHs have to imitate him to keep up.
Guess Jerk Disease was spot on with his predictions a couple of weeks ago.
The 4 week wait will kill me. :(
@Thousand:
Absolutely fantastic chapter. I'm so excited for the time-skip now:)
The best part about the Haki explanation is that Haki isn't like reiatsu or Ki or Chakra or shit like that. It isn't some super energy, people who are super powerful don't have large amounts of it..
I actually had been thinking that Haki was a manifestation of willpower rather than something like ki or chi for a long time before I was confirmed right by this chapter. It seemed pretty obvious if you paid attention to details on how people described it
Anyone notice that the "Safe Place" where Luffy put his strawhat and the vivre card has a Daft Green tree?
You know, the tree that repelled the beasts in Strong World.
Awesome, awesome chapter. I had come around to the idea of a time skip but I thought it wouldn't be more then a year. It'll be interesting to see how changed the world is after this time.
Just like the strawhats, I shall overcome the challenge of 1 month without One Piece

Also would be a bit wierd when all of them would be able to use such strong techniques..
Like i said i guess Luffy Zoro for sure and maybe also Sanji will in the end be able to use it..not the rest of the crew in my opinon.
@Tamaki:
not just whats important but what to look forward to.
uhhh…Brooke?
16
thus , the great month of expectations and great depression begins…
And thus the APocalypse starts
Great chapter. But this is the first time that I've been slightly dissappointed in the direction that the story is going. I just hope none of the charaters go thtough major design changes. but it looks like all the speculation around Luffy's "tattoo" was pretty much right.

I expect Franky to come up with something specifically unique to him and probably won't even gain a haki technique but something that'll be able to rival the color of armor.
Chopper probably won't get it either but just use his medical knowledge in a harmful way.
Blackbeard is going to lose weight in two years…XD
Badass chapter.
I sorta guessed Zoro would train with Mihawk. And I like the way Zoro went about asking him, too.
Haki is finally explained. I can see Luffy using haki in Gear 2nd to own everybody!
Rest well, Oda. I can't wait for what you have in store for us in four weeks.
But didn't you read it already? I'm confused.
sorry if im not being clear. what i mean is iv seen the couple important stuff like robins past, luffys fight with luci, (witch was epic by the way), and akoji owning the strawhats. and i know but havent seen the strawhats get seperated, the crew gets franky,brook and the thousand sunny and finnaly the rest of the warlords. but i havent seen or heard of anything else that happened in those arcs. so aside from the the things i mentioned what else is there to look forward to seeing includeing the small stuff.

They will probably change clothes and have scars. Zoro is already a phyco for training. Imagine now.
Finally haki is explained! I bet Luffy is best at the color of arms.
I think Zoro manning up and asking Mihawk for training shows how loyal he is to Luffy, but it also makes their rivalry much deeper. I can imagine an epic showdown between sensei and student for the title of greatest swordsman in the future… :D
Best of all Jimbei isn't completely gone. This was a freaking awesome chapter though I might die without One Piece for a month. D:
I found Haki to be quite similar to Nen from Hunter X Hunter and i love the way it works in that. I am also looking forward to seeing what's going to happen after the time skip but if Kidd, Law and the rst of the supernovas don't do some training first as well shouldn't they just get owned like Hawkins. Thats why i eont think they'll be established nw pirates by the strawhats make a com back.
Has Oda ever going on a break this long before, took a holiday maybe?

Uh….Ace vs Blackbeard? The intro of Rayleigh? Flying Fish Riders and Duval?
The other important stuff you seem to have already read/know.
Great chapter, but a few things that stuck out to me through-out the reading.
One is how exactly will the Strawhats know exactly what day or week to re-group on? There isn't a special way of them knowing is there? Do they just show up the month the newspaper was released 2 years from now?
Two, wouldn't or shouldn't power houses like Lucci and the rest of CP9 have Haki as a form of fighting? It would seem that this would be a weak point with the WG defenses. Same goes for Magellan and Impel Down. If these groups are supposedly dealing with capturing and detaining powerhouses shouldn't they some form of Haki since it seems to be a norm in the New World?
One last observation, Oda really is a damn good story teller. He had Haki formulated all the way from the Skypeia Saga. This is at least 7-8 years ago that it was suggested into the story. Some story tellers need to take note from this guy.
Four weeks…
My body is not ready

i havent seen that stuff yet. are they important? and who or what is duval and whats a flying fish rider?
Actually, he had it since chapter 1. Shanks uses king's haki on a sea king
@$abZ:
I always wondered why Blackbeard was having an orgasm about his DF ability cancelling out other DF abilities when haki pretty much does the same.
Earlier posters pointed out that Blackbeard's DF completely cancels out the fruit, but I'm wondering why Blackbeard thought it must've been awhile for Ace to feel a solid hit if he knew about haki. Hopefully this means haki is rare, even in the New World.

The best part about the Haki explanation is that Haki isn't like reiatsu or Ki or Chakra or shit like that. It isn't some super energy, people who are super powerful don't have large amounts of it. It's just a power that lets you use different techniques no more, no less and I find that awesome. The power of the techniques you develop depends on you:) Oh and I'm calling it now, Rokushiki is a form of Haki.
Personally haki is similar to nen from HunterxHunter. That might not be a bad thing but there's some similarities that are arguable.
One last observation, Oda really is a damn good story teller. He had Haki formulated all the way from the Skypeia Saga. This is at least 7-8 years ago that it was suggested into the story. Some story tellers need to take note from this guy.
Before that. Shanks and Sea King.
@Tamaki:
i havent seen that stuff yet. are they important?
Yes, they are. Especially the first one.
who or what is duval and whats a flying fish rider?
It's kinda fruitless to explain these terms. Finding what they are through reading the chapters is simpler. And wait, if you read Impel Down, how the heck did you miss this stuff? Which happened before it?
Anyone notice that the "Safe Place" where Luffy put his strawhat and the vivre card has a Daft Green tree?
You know, the tree that repelled the beasts in Strong World.
OH yeah… holy smokes it really does look like it. Here compare the two, it looks similar.
@Tamaki:

This chapter helped improved that almost everything in One Piece is basically important. You should take these 4 weeks to go and back track on what you missed out on.
Before that. Shanks and Sea King.
Still not certain that I would use this as an example, I still get the idea from it that it was just showing how fearsome Shanks was.
Edit: I kinda see how the Shanks things work out with Haki now.
Great chapter, but a few things that stuck out to me through-out the reading.

I figure 2 years from the day they were all sent by Kuma. Even if it's not them all being around the same place a couple days should be enough. I doubt it'll be exactly 2 years spent where they are for each of them due to distance and how long it'll take to get back.
Two, wouldn't or shouldn't power houses like Lucci and the rest of CP9 have Haki as a form of fighting? It would seem that this would be a weak point with the WG defenses. Ray said some ppl spent a life time trying to learn it and fail. I figure they all know the of it but just don't know how. Some ppl think all rokushiki techniques are some form of haki whihc I disagree with, at most I'd Lucci's special technique rokugan could've been.
Magellan I don't know about it, maybe he just not good at it or doesn't really need to do it. I mean he really didn't fight anyone one on one in ID.
One last observation, Oda really is a damn good story teller. He had Haki formulated all the way from the Skypeia Saga. This is at least 7-8 years ago that it was suggested into the story. Some story tellers need to take note from this guy.
Probably had a really good idea of it in chap 1 since Shanks used it on the Lord of the Coast.
It's freaky, what is 2 years for the Mugiwara is one month for us.
@Zik:
I expect Franky to come up with something specifically unique to him and probably won't even gain a haki technique but something that'll be able to rival the color of armor.
I think with some upgrades developed by the master himself Vegapunk he gets enough new strong upgrades..
Chopper probably won't get it either but just use his medical knowledge in a harmful way.
Chopper could maybe gain some medical expierence how to treat his nakama after a HAki-battle.
Also to master his Monster-point maybe Haki could be useful..but thats just to farfetched to argue about it now.
Yes, they are. Especially the first one.
It's kinda fruitless to explain these terms. Finding what they are through reading the chapters is simpler. And wait, if you read Impel Down, how the heck did you miss this stuff? Which happened before it?
iv only read the stuff in the magazine. so basicly iv seen all through skypiea but basicly unwillingly skipped to impel down with pretty much no knowolage on what happened in between.
It's freaky, what is 2 years for the Mugiwara is one month for us.
Normally a day for the Mugiwaras could be several months here (just think about the one day in alabasta where they arrive at arabana^^)
@Tamaki:

Go back, read One Piece, it'll do you good.
Here are my predictions for who learns new Haki:
Luffy
All of them - More towards Conqueror
Zoro
Armaments & Observation - More towards Observation, just because a swordsman would find knowing where an attack was coming from more useful than brute strength
Sanji
Armaments - Only one, keep in mind hes not really training to fight, hes more so looking to cook, he may not even learn any Haki (although thats pretty unlikely)
Usopp
Armaments and Observation - More towards Armaments
Haki can be put into bows and arrows, why not Usopp's weapons? Also keep in mind that only Luffy, Zoro and Usopp are actually training to becoming stronger, the rest of the crew are more or less going into there own niche of knowledge in order to help out.
I'm thinking we may see a shift in balance where Luffy, Zoro, Usopp and Sanji and the strongest, hell we might even see Sanji knocked out of the top 3.
OH yeah… holy smokes it really does look like it. Here compare the two, it looks similar.
Small movie spoilers
! If it has Daft Green, maybe it also has IQ? Which would explain why the island was filled with such powerful beasts. And why all of the civilization died.
! Gah, would be cool if it could be connected to Strong World and Shiki, but unlikely Oda will confirm it. Nice to theorize on though.

What he said. It's good you want to read One Piece in the legal ways (American SJ and the volumes) but you should really read scans to catch up.
Fantastic chapter. At first I was very wary of the timeskip and definitely not excited for it. But now seeing everyone's motivation and the way they are geared towards training esp Luffy and Zoro. I'm actually excited for the timeskip.
As far as haki goes. I know there is speculation going that some of the others may gain haki in some form but I just don't see it happening at all, or even if it does for a very very long time. As Rayleigh said its very hard for someone to learn/control. I see it possibly being something special to Luffy.
But again as Rayleigh said "haki is a power that lies dormant in all the world's creatures" so there is always the possibility of them gaining it. I just don't think it will be anytime soon. And definitely not as soon as they come back from the timeskip.

That's actually a good idea and makes a lot of sense for those who've seen the movie but then that'd make everyone want Shiki to be canon that much more if Oda's gonna use a plot point from the movie.

Oda confirmed that Usopp is destined to stay the weakest of all the Strawhats.
Now Usopp learning something that none of the other Strawhats can do, that's a different story entirely.
He'll be the weakest, but never unneeded.
Alright people
raises fist in the air
ONE MONTH!!
Usopp
Armaments and Observation - More towards ArmamentsHaki can be put into bows and arrows, why not Usopp's weapons? I guess its more likely that Usopp will get some of Luffy
s haki for his weapons like in AL the warriors get it from Hancock.
That he personally will master one kind of HAki..well one day he`s the weakest the other day after a bit training he can master one of the ultimate techniques in the OP universe^^
