First 15 chapters are bad. No doubt about it. But around chapter 16 it starts picking up giving a glimpse of its true potential. Then it gets a bit fuzzy againa round chapter 25. However when the Kyoto arc comes around like chapter 40ish, it detonates, I repeat, DETONATES in quality to the point where your mind is crushed into a bunch of mushy goo. Now it's one of the best shonen around on par with HunterxHunter and One Piece

Negima gets awesome, I am right, you are wrong.

He's made a bunch of them. I would have pasted one of them but I've done that way too many times now.
Negima gets awesome, I am right, you are wrong.
! I remember the day I finished the Kyoto arc. It was the day my jaw's gravity exceeded that of the Earth's and kept plummeting all the way into the Earth's core. Such a masterfully created despair situation. There was absolutely no hope whatsoever. I was thinking of what raging deus ex machina was going to get Negi out of this or even ready to accept that he was going to lose. Then we got an equally incredible reversal that just blew my expectations at its awesomeness out of the water and into the stratosphere. I thought to myself, there's no way Akamatsu can ever outdo THIS arc!. But he did. And he keeps doing it over and over and over again.
-
Yeah, TL-S Spoiler tags please, Once I finish with claymore (who's about to get FMA's spot for "Must keep reading" manga) I'll go to negima, and besides the warnings to wait after Kyoto is over, anything else should be kept hiden.
-
Well it's not really spoiling since you know the main character is gonna win but whatever, I complied.

Mahou Sensei Negima is probably good for kids around the age of 14, so sorry for those that i offended,

One Piece is that too, its shounen.
What is your point?

i cant take MSN serieus, they try to have a good story but fail, the characters are almost al the same.
other series i like have a good story or don't even try to have a story but make that up with awsome characters or good action
-
BLEACH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WHY??? :cwy: WHY did you have to state that?!?
-
i
that up with awsome characters or good actionNegima has those things.
How many volumes did you read?

ok negima= one piece? Ok give me your name and adress. Cause im about to read it and if it's not fo real you will be getting a vist.

I never said that but yes of the shounen mangas being released right now Negima is the best next to One Piece.
It just has a really shitty start, try to read everything before paying me a visit.

Honestly, I don't care that much about originality as long as something is enjoyable and not super stupid, so I've actually enjoyed a few of the manga said here. Originality is in my opinion a tool that can make something better if done right, but far worse if done wrong. That said, Manga I've read long enough to be an accurate judge and hate include: Naruto (mostly after Hidan and Kazuku arc, but the sasuke and sai arc before it also sucked pretty badly), Bleach (Which only became absolutely horrible recently IMO. ALthough it was mediocre for a long time before that), air gear ended up getting really, really stupid, also on the anime side Neon Genesis Evangelion (I hate this so much. It just isn't interesting, has horrible, horrible characters, and just generally sucks IMO),
Things that I just couldn't keep my interest in long enough to know the best or worst parts of a series: Inuyasha, Death Note among others
Things that, based on what I've heard of are horrible: Prince of tennis, new prince of tennis -
My only opinion with Mahou Sensei Negima is that Akamatsu tries to juggle way too many characters, and they get muddled. This is what sets One Piece apart from other shonen mangas, in my opinion.
I also didn't like Air Gear, because after around chapter 100, everything became a mess, and I can't follow the story anymore. Another manga I find wack is the Pokemon ones and that Lost+Brain, which is too outlandish, even for shonen tastes.
-
Battle Royale was a pretty fucked up manga. I liked it just bringing it up cuz it was mentioned on the 1st page.
Rave, Disciple Kenichi, Dance In The Vampire Bund, Inyuyasha, Freezing, Naruto, Bleach, Shikabane Hime, Aflame Inferno. Don't remember reading the end of Shaman King to be honest lost interest when it came to the end. Reborn! fell off during the future arc. D. Gray Man; not sure how it jumped the shark the way it did (probably will still read to the end).
Any other bad manga I've read have probably been erased from memory.
I don't understand fanservice mangas, the amount of them or the length of most.
Definitely don't understand Gantz being mentioned, granted it fell off a bit after Izumi died. The armageddon/alien invasion, incessant focus on Tae and Kei, hurt it a lot but this manga had great, top notch character development.
And if you read HxH from chap 1 to w/e is the recent chap there's no way you'll say it isn't good. Of course if you've been waiting months and years for it to be weekly again and were tortured through that batch of chicken scratch drawn chaps I can understand out right hating it.
It's impossible for Negima = One Piece if the first 15(at the least) chaps of it sucked.

BLEACH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dude, you should get locked for saying such hurtful things about Bleach. This whole thread should be locked. Bleach is fantastic because

I'm glad I finally quit cold turkey. -
Y'know what manga should of ended early?
Death Note. After L's death it should of been written off.
-
Negima has those things.
How many volumes did you read?
i read till chapter 290 but i just cant get motivated to read any further
-
Let me be the first to say: Haruhi Suzamiya.
Man I hated the show, then thought maybe the manga would be better, but it only made me hate it more. -
i cant take MSN serieus,
That's your own failing as a reader.
they try to have a good story but fail,
No actually it succeeds on every level.
the characters are almost al the same.
Bullshit. The diversity of the characterization is amazing and even the similar characters like Ako and Makie have enough subtle differences to bring out their own characters.
other series i like have a good story or don't even try to have a story but make that up with awsome characters or good action
If you can't see all of the above in Negima, something is wrong with you.
ok negima= one piece? Ok give me your name and adress. Cause im about to read it and if it's not fo real you will be getting a vist.
Negima is definitely on par with One Piece.
My only opinion with Mahou Sensei Negima is that Akamatsu tries to juggle way too many characters, and they get muddled.
No they don't. All the characters get plenty of spotlight and gradual development. Even the minor ones kick ass.

I love Kenichi:(
@Zik:

You can't say that if you haven't read it. Every great series have speed bumps, Negima's just happens to be at the start.

Death Note. After L's death it should of been written off.
It ended there for me, didn´t continue to read.
-

I don't understand it either. Even after the quality drop, I can't say it is a bad manga because the scenario is still under control.
@Thousand:
That's your own failing as a reader.
You have to admit the first volume was terrible.
-

Death Note. After L's death it should of been written off.
disagree , ok with L everything was better ,but its not that it was bad after it , it was still great
-

I have, he's saying the whole series as a whole sucks because he can't take it seriously. That's his failing as a reader.
-
a 10 year old trying to be an adult is to lame for me. the only series about a child i like is HxH
-
0___0…
Bad Manga?
I never find any manga bad, seriously can't think of any even I go through manga listed here I can't agree.
But there is bad anime I am sure, I can think of many.
-
Don't know if its been mentioned before, but to me its Samurai Deeper Kyo, the manga of course. It started out interesting but as it progresses, it annoys the hell out of me. Its like every main character is a battle fetish. "I like fighting, its my ecstasy, cant get enough of it, etc etc". At first only the main char does it, but as more people are introduced and they have the same quirk. It gets annoying, and after a while I just lost interest and stop
-

Oh yeah, never mind the execution. Let's fault series solely for using a premise that doesn't agree with your biased, inflexible preconceptions.
Says the guy with an avatar of an otter who's the main character.
-
-Says a prayer for this to turn into a shitstorm :ninja:-
Anyways I can see one aspect of what he's saying . I never read MHN , but I do dislike the concept of a pre teen protagonist fighting teen and adult antagonists as a main character . Dunno why , must be cause I'm getting old

Have you read the whole thing? I ask because I couple of months ago I won the first ten volumes on ebay (I bought them because they were so cheap - $15 in total) and once I was done reading them I didn't know If I should continue buying more. They have just been lying around for a while now because I don't know what to do. I thought about continuing the series online for a little and seeing if it interested me but it just wasn't the same (I can't read some manga series online for some reason).
I did enjoy reading SDK but I don't know if my interest is strong enough for me to purchase the remaining 28 volumes (the series is 38 volumes long I believe).
Can you tell me if the series gets better from the 10th volume or does it degrade as it continues? I enjoyed the story up to where I am in it (granted I don't find it particularly strong-creative-fresh-imaginative in any once aspect of manga but I still wound up enjoying myself). The story feels like it is getting messy (too many characters and an uneven pace etc…) I want to know if these are problems as the story continues?
I know you don't like SDK because you brought it up in this thread but can you tell me if you think somebody who enjoyed the first 10 volumes would enjoy the rest of the series or if you think I should just give up on it?

i didn't say someting wierd is bad in a manga, but i liked the story better when it was just about gags. i don't think the serieusness of the story connects well with the characters.
a group containing one ten year old and a class full of 14 year old girls( the most of them ar weak) taking on a force which even the local army can't fight. thats to unbelieveble -
Most of them are weak? Considering how utterly godhax the artifacts they have are? Besides which, it's no more ridiculous then stuff that happens in most anime and manga. Local armies are almost always useless fodder >.>. Not to mention the main chars had the distinct advantage of not being susceptible to the erasure power of the enemies.
-
Love hina. I could only go through 2 volumes of it. Poor keitaro can't catch a break.

Never mind the execution of the established concept is damn near flawless in Negima.
-
i'm gonna quit this discussion because my english is not good enough to back up my opinion, and i don't think eather of us is going to give in, so have fun reading MSN

That's a huge hurdle for any reader seeing as most great manga have "speed bumps" (which aren't necessarily terrible) in the middle somewhere of the story during an arc or in how the story is ended.
-

For what it's worth, the bad beginning is likely not to be due to a problem with the creative process but because Akamatsu was in a fight with his editor on what he wanted Negima to be. Where he wanted it to be a fantasy battle shonen, his editor wanted to cash in on the Love Hina craze so there was an initial mess until the series settled itself.
-
Bleach sucks. And since AiZoom became canon, it's only gotten worse.
-
Sorta cheating since its a Mahwa but really hated PHD: Phantasy Degree. Plot was slow and unintersting with too many unanswered questions and twists. So were the characters and the fights didn't seem to lead anywhere. I couldn't even tell who the heroes were after awhile. One minute its the humans hunting demons who didn't do anything other then being the target of prejudice. Then it turns out the humans were trying to stop a gateway from opening and letting out a bad demon and…@_@.
I somehow made it through the first arc (which takes place at a monster school) but the further I read from that the more I was getting frustrated with the story and I just quit altogether. Just as well too, they say the author put the series on indefinite hiatus so...yeah.

Naruto, Bleach, Air Gear

I think I stopped at….about volume 20, or at least close. And the story doesn't get any better unfortunately, I also quite enjoyed the first 10 volumes. But the more the story progresses, it gets....well like you said, messy. So I just stop bothering to continue reading it. I think my suggestion is rent it (if you have any manga rental over there), or read online, or if you have spare money (which you just can't find a better use for it) then go ahead and buy the rest of it
-
Battle Vixens is garbage.
-
Basara- The premise isn't bad, and I'm sure it was well written, but all I remember is the art that was so bad that it still haunts my dreams to this very day.
G Gundam- I used to like this as a kid, but it has some REALLY bizarre plot holes and janky art. I've got to catch the anime sometime, as I her it's much, much better.

Never read Gundam mangas, they're worthless tie-ins to the animes.
