The Baboons were afraid of Mihawk. He fought them before. They might know some of Mihawk's technique. If Zoro can overcome them, then he can counter some of Mihawk's technique.
Chapter 596: "Spectrum" Discussion
-
-
Zoro is still far from Mihawk
-
The Baboon can get stronger too. They can fight Mihawk again, lose, learn some new techniques, fight Zoro, get stronger, fight Mihawkā¦
Just a crappy idea. -
Hey, btw, what happened to side-effects of Iwan hormones on Luffy?
2 weeks sleeping to regain his forces are not enough?
-
Yeah, but I think it's too early, there's no point for Zoro to be even on par with Mihawk before New World. But I agree that he'll get much stronger fighting Baboons
-
2 weeks sleeping to regain his forces are not enough?
Oh, yeah, but I kinda thought it would have some weird effects (sex change or something, but I guess thet WOULD be too much), not that it'd be fun to read, though.
-
How do you guys feel about the possibility of Zoro having Haoushoku haki as well?
This is just a random idea and I was wondering how you feel about it. -
I don't get Brook's side Story. someone help me with it!
-
There is no side story.
-
Chapter was okay, nothing shocking but we can't expect that with every chapter. This chapter moves the story along nicely though.
Franky and Sabo owned this chapter. Franky was just the best, and seeing Sabo makes his return more anticipated. Robin on her way to Dragon is also quite interesting.
Good to see the Straw Hats being themselves and causing trouble.
-
@Gol:
How do you guys feel about the possibility of Zoro having Haoushoku haki as well?
This is just a random idea and I was wondering how you feel about it.I would say it would be better when Zoro has another type of haki..
He always reached his goals out of hard training and not cause it was his destiny (so having the highest haki wouldn`t rly fit him). -
@Gol:
How do you guys feel about the possibility of Zoro having Haoushoku haki as well?
This is just a random idea and I was wondering how you feel about it.Naaaah, that be lame, there should be only one leader on board
-
I really wish Oda would quit messing with the fans and just say if people are dead or not like he does with kuina, and now apparently with sabo because he isn't showing the face
Oda is not messing with anyone. If you still dont get it, it's your problem and you messing with yourself
Did anyone else find this chapter a bit 'meh'? I mean, we didn't get all that much extra information.
If it weren't for the cover page, I'd actually be a bit disappointed.
It wasnt really an awsome chapter or anything like that from where I stand, but it was a neccessary one, since he decided to show us how every SH will see Luffys message and what will he do about it
-
Naaaah, that be lame, there should be only one leader on board
Rayleigh has the Haoushoku haki, and he was only Roger's first mate. That's not an impossible thing, though a bit unlikely, I think Zoro will be like Marco and Vista, he won't have the Haoushoku but will still be able to harm logia.
-
Zoro needs to become the King of Swordsmen. He totally should have Haoushoku Haki.
-
So what makes Haoushoku haki so much better than the haki we've seen from Marco and Vista? They both have the ability to harm logia, only the Haoushoku haki is emitted to make weaklings faint.
Don't think Oda has explained/ showed what the Haoushoku can really do, unless I've missed it.

Normal Haki wouldn't save Ace from getting his head truncated.
Very convenient. Save your energy from fighting fodders. -

True, but I think Zoro's different type of character, pure phisical, hard work and more hard work! Plus, I was talking about Haoushoku haki only, i think it's leaders skill. Maybe I'm wrong
-
@Sea:

Very convenient. Save your energy from fighting fodders.Yeah it's useful in that way, but surely it can do something which has an effect on a larger scale (like when fighting strong opponants). Everyone has been so shocked to see it revealed so far, so I'm sure it does more than help save energy from fodders. Guess we'll wait and see.
-
I wouldn't be surprised if Zoro ended up having King Haki. I mean, Bonney was surprised that Zoro wasn't a captain when she first encountered him, and I think Zoro had a couple more of similar encounters like that also, but I can't remember.
-

Totally thisā¦ And by the way... Who thinks Kuina is alive? o_O
-

Remember when Zoro defeated 100 people in Whiskey Peakā¦ =)
I think Zoro is ideal first mate as it is, and I'd be suprised if he ended up having H. Haki. But that's just my thoughts -
The burning tiger is really cool. :)
-
Iam a bit confused about the Haki discussion. I remember Boa or the Amazon women talking about the rare amount of King hakiā¦but since then all the new relevation about haki users popped out to be more than 70% to have king haki...so where is here the speciality? I would like to learn more diferrent hakis and less new king haki users.
Chapter was fine. If it wasnt now we would argue about oda laking to give background information ;-)

Whitbeard, Shanks, Boa and Luffy are only confirmed users.
Possible king haki are Ace and Rayleigh
Confirmed Haki users are all of Amazon Lily, all admirals, all vice admirals, Sengoku, Kong, coby, jozu, vista and marco.
Possible haki users are Enel and his preists, and that little girl.
-
Whitbeard, Shanks, Boa and Luffy are only confirmed users.

what?ace and rayleight are pretty much confirmed:blink:

ouch, you backstabbed me here yeah youre right, but in my calculation it is still not the scale of 1 : 1000000. If you imagine that whitebeard, ace, luffy, zoro, roger, rayleigh, boa, shanks have king haki you need 8 million other "normal" haki users and i think the list of king haki users is still not finishedā¦
-
enel's haki is even more rare: The God's haki
ouch, you backstabbed me here yeah youre right, but in my calculation it is still not the scale of 1 : 1000000. If you imagine that whitebeard, ace, luffy, zoro, roger, rayleigh, boa, shanks have king haki you need 8 million other "normal" haki users and i think the list of king haki users is still not finishedā¦
strong people have a way of meeting each other. Also, Ace being the son of the pirate king and Luffy of Dragon who's Garp's son are no surprise to show that type of Haki. The pirate king speaks for itself, Whitebeard was the strongest in the world so yeah, it's logical, zoro will have a dark form of Haki and will most likely become the new dark king. It has been said so many times he has an evil, dark vibe to him, not at all like Luffy. Shanks is one of the Yonkou. . .
so, it doesn't mean there are many that have the kings haki if we just happen to know probably most of the ones that have it.
I do think it is hereditary because Ace probably had it and Roger had it. So perhaps Garp and Dragon both have it aswell. Anyway, the list of people that have it are considered or the strongest in the world or potential dangers for the future. -
what?ace and rayleight are pretty much confirmed:blink:
i said possible, i'm not goign to say confirmed if they are not and with little knowledge of haki. if we learn that knocking others out is 100% king haki ONLY then yes they are confirmed, but as of now they are just very probable.
@Spooly:ouch, you backstabbed me here yeah youre right, but in my calculation it is still not the scale of 1 : 1000000. well from what i understand, ANYONE and i mean ANYONE in the world can unlock their haki, or learn to use it. So doesn't matter if only 1,000 learn about and use haki, there are 100,000,000 or whatever people in the world that have haki just haven't unlocked it.
but regardless, we are talking about the top of the top and of course we will find a few king haki users, because we are fighting the most insane people ever. Its just like if you can dunk at your high school you will be possibly the only one who can or only a few others can. but look as you keep getting better at basketball and go from high school to college to pro. now it seems everyone and their mother can dunk. But still that is just super rare. barely anyone in the world can actually dunk a basketball.
-

the Kujas said so..rufy knocks out many of them with his haki and they recognize it as "haoshoku haki".
so yes, knockin' out people is 100% haoshoku haki

@Sea:
This chapter is handled in a way it should be. The repeated structure is a rhyme, a chorus, a beat. That gave an impression of a strong unison, a strong bond. Events are necessary. So I said it's well-done, that's all. Impossible to make every chapter is out-standing and stunning. So I see no reason to complain.
Really people who are bitching about this chapter should stop to read mangasā¦ From time to time we need some character developement and story telling. It can't be all action all the timeā¦ And really this chapter was about the MAIN characters (who are left out for a whole year) and their progression but people prefer chapter with no MAIN characters and just showing of some SN and cool location with no connetction to the crew?
What the hell you guys talking about?
I don't need to see that crap!
This chapter sucked who the hell are those people anyways?!
I want to see things go BOOM!
-
@firefistluffy: than read one-shotsā¦
-
Based on what we know haki seems to be a manifestation of willpower rather than a source of life energy like chi. Thus it probably doesn't run in the family (although the Ds may be an exception, or at least more likely to have the right disposition.) King's Haki seems to be related to the disposition of wanting to stand above others and have more than others. Based on what was said in AL, most people with King's Haki have lots of pride and are unlikely to be humble.
I'm going to guess all the Yonkou have King's Haki, as does Black Beard. I could also see someone like Crocodile having it. Doflamingo is another candidate for King's haki which makes sense for me. A few of the supernova may have it. most notably the ones over 200 million, and Zoro having King's Haki is also a strong possibility, especially given how many people have thought he should be a captain, and his disposition to be better than any other swordsman. Of course, just having it is useless if you can't use it.
-
the monkeys will teach him Haki, they learned it from Mihawk. It's quite obvious really
-
Nakama Honestly, I think any TRUE One Piece fan would appreciate this chapter to the fullest.
If you have followed each character from the beginning then I cannot see why you wouldn't be touched by each of their revelations. Oda did this beautifully. Everyone had a flashback at a time where Luffy lifted them up and helped them despite any contextual conditionsā¦he gave them hope and showed them love.
Now that reality hit everyone, they are realizing that they cannot continue the way they were or else they will lose everything in an instant. They see the need for growth in order to not only achieve their own dreams but also help Luffy achieve his. I can imagine their feelings in each panel of their revelations...that goosebump feeling...the feeling of an epiphany sprouting...the zeal and motivation mixing in with pure emotion to create and build ones Will....it ties into everything that is One Piece.
I feel so connected to the story and its morals that I can not label this chapter "meh, blah, weak, okay" in any way, shape, or form.
Certainly there isn't any fighting or any faces getting bashed, like we all love to see, but seeing emotions being portrayed this way, especially after following each character for such a long time in this long series (its not like each character was rushed and introduced quickly to fit into a 150 chapter series....we are talking 596 friggin chapters full of character development and story that can do nothing else but pull you in)....
Then again...I guess it is also up to the personality of the reader. There are some who appreciate a story for all its worth; characters, emotions, plot, story, etc. and there are those who enjoy just the action and suspense...to each his own I guess.....
-
I don't get what the complaints are about. Aren't the people complaining the same people who were complaining about wanting to see the crew a short while back? The people who thought Luffy's flashback was unnecessary and delaying their appearances? Well, now we have a chapter dedicated to most of the rest of the crew and suddenly it's boring. There's no pleasing some peopleā¦

I expected this chapter, that's why I dislike it.
"Luffy becomes Pirate King!" Dam it.
-
Even though this chapter has a lot of depth, that doesn't automatically make it better for me. Sure, the Strawhats' determination and their bond with Luffy is one of the things that make this series so good, but I feel that we know that already. Don't get me wrong, I think these kinds of chapters are important, but I don't think they're all that satisfying when I read them the first time, that's all.
We already knew the Strawhats' had a special bond with Luffy. We already knew that they were gonna train, and in most cases how. This chapter just did what we expected it to do, nothing more, nothing less, and that can feel a bit blend at first, even though it's a necessary one for the progression of the plot and the feeling of emotion that will culminate in the reunion.
-
Next week zoro will transform into a dark angel and surprise us all by attacking the grorousei who all are beyond the ambition levels we already saw. And we will thank kubo for writing one piece giving us unexpected plot twists week after week not caring for consistency only to make us sooo excited kyaaaa.
-

It was expected that Whitebeard would come to Marineford, but wasn't his appearance fantastic? The quality of a chapter should not be determined by predictability, but delivery. If you think the delivery fell flat, then that's one thing, but to call a chapter bad simply because you knew what was going to happen is folly.

THISā¦ so much this. I have to agree with you completely Sage!! One Piece is the one manga/anime that I have continued to watch/read since i was introduced to it. It keeps me wanting more and not just to see who can beat who. You get to see an actual emotional bond that makes the crew want to become better people. In this chapter you got to see how the crew had affected each others life.
Maybe I'm just an emotional ninny but I find the character development one of the main reasons I keep reading One Piece.
-
Brook's training will clearly entail introducing rock n' roll to the One Piece world.

"The Kids Got Heart"
Maybe I'm just an emotional ninny but I find the character development one of the main reasons I keep reading One Piece.
It's not even about being an emotional ninny, it just shows you have a heart that can feel and sympathize.
To alot of readers, it's just an action series, but to those who are true fansā¦it is way more than that. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely LOVE the fighting scenes and the battlesā¦.there is nothing like seeing Luffy punch someone in a panel or in slow-motion (anime) and us seeing the foes face getting smushed in while their eyes are on the verge of popping out...and then having that done over and over against a character that you have grown to hate....how fulfilling. On that same note, everything in essence is connected...emotions and fights included.
I would have felt something completely different when Luffy ended Lucci in the battle at EL if there was little or poor context to the battle. The fact that Lucci and crew were spies, kidnapped Robin and made her not want to live, beat up Luffy previously, and beat up Luffy right before losing....along with threatening the crews lives..etc...without this, it wouldn't have been such a great victory in my eyes....but it was!...because of the story and emotions involved....that's the kinda shit I thrive on and that's the kinda shit Oda brings to the table staunchly...which is why OP is one of the, if not THE, greatest series of our time.....imo.
