I loved how whitebeards fleet came out of nowhere.

I thought the pacing was pretty good, even considering they didn't use the whole chapter.
I enjoyed how they fleshed out the Rouge flashback. Really gave you a sense of her struggle, unlike the manga which kind of skimmed over it. -

Pacing was totally fine. People get obsessed about the amount of pages covered and forget to judge the episode by what it is.
-
The ending was utter crap IMO. Moby Dick looked like a frog jumping out of water. The scene was way better in the manga.
The whole filler with Rouge was well done. -
yeah there were some very jerky scenes with the Moby Dick and Flamingo looked a bit odd but I thought they did Moria well.
-
At the end of next weeks preview, Newgate looks like he's trying to take a dump.
-
The pacing was fine but they could have done more with the episode content
-
Wow, Moby Dick appearance was L.A.M.E.
-
They really should've showed Whitebeard…wouldn't have been hard to remove some of the Ace shots to squeeze him in.
-
Whoa, great directing this week, once again.
I never thought about how many innocent women/unborn children lost their lives due to Ace. ACE.
I agree wholeheartedly. It's a very staggering and disturbing thought to think that the Marines pulled literally dozens of pregnant mothers/unborn children and little children out of their homes and heartlessly killed them, all for the possibility that Ace may or may not exist. deep stuff. Reminds me of how the German Nazis pulled Jewish citizens out of their homes and sent them to their deaths. I applaud the Rouge filler, I thought it was VERY well done and overall a good episode. Not the best, granted, because the ending animation was a little poor, but hopefully next week's episode will be better. (but that preview doesn't look promising)
-
Did they use Strong World music or was I hearing things?
-
Facepalm of Love

Nice Episode, good pacing. Only problem was the art at some points, and the cliffhanger was a bit disappointing.
-
Nice episode. Good pacing throughout, although the animation was a bit spotty in some places. Loved Buggy's messianic scene (Beethoven's "Ode to Joy" was a great fit there, in my opinion). Wasn't crazy about the prismatic sheen to the Moby Dick (or that entire segment, really), but no big deal. The flashback was well-done and pretty emotional, although the fact that Rouge hardly seem to show at all during her pregnancy was rather curious. Must have kept Ace stuffed down one of her legs or something.
The preview looks promising, hope it does WB justice.
-
Thoughts on this episode:
-Good pacing
-Buggy the Messiah scene lived up to my expectations; had me laughing all throughout that scene
-Art made me cringe in some parts
-The filler added with Rouge's flashback was well done IMO, made the flashback more emotional than the manga
-Ending was very disappointing with Whitebeard not coming out
-Preview looks abit lameDecent episode overall.
-
Nice episode, was fun to watch. Pacing was good even though the cliffhanger was a horrible decision. Buggy ruled once again and the flashback was good. The opening scenes fit but it was weird since…. well, they were opening scenes to begin with.
Preview looks nice, looking forward to the next episode.
-
loool the preview is awseome!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Hell yeah baby. Now that was an awesome episode. The NW pirates looked a bit weird bein animated…
Loved Rouge's flashback...man that was really sad. Ace looks just like her....and she was a total hotty.
The endin looked a bit weird..with the Moby Dick just flyin outta the water like that....but sitll..all good. Just a pity it didn'#t end like the manga. Can't wait to see..Whitebeard next episode. The Marines are pissin themselves in fear....
-
Damn i didnt read the lyrics of the opening last week they are actually pretty awesome in my opnion, seriously really great and the tone of the music is the most fitting for this arc.
Episode was cool also.

You make it sound as though it is Ace's fault all those people died. It just shows how evil the WG, is, that they are even willing to kill expectant mothers if it means ending the bloodline of Roger. God forbid, they just take the baby after its born…and raise him to be a Marine rolleyes
-
The beginning was really good, transitions really artistic and the Rouge expansion (I refuse to call it "filler") was well done.
The ending was a bit bizarrely abrupt though.
-
I don't know about you guys but i didn't see anything wrong with the episode.
-

Yeah that worked out really well for Garp didn't it? The direction definitely stood out in this episode. Let's hope they can keep that up for the rest of the arc.

wat do u expect when u tell a kid his father was the pirate king..and then leave him to be raised by mountain bandits?
Anyway…at least we got to see what a coated ship looks like. It makes alot more sense now.

The Preview of the next episode just annoyed me even more. Now I know the war won't start next episode either (it'll be a cliffhanger just as Whitebeard causes those tidalwaves), all of thise after a 2 week break. Godamnit I they're reaaally going to stretch every bit of this out aren't they -_-
-
I'm not liking how they are using Kaze wo blablabla animation in the anime…
And the animation didn't really made me like this episode cough Moby Dick, but Rouge filler was nice. -
I was horrified by how bad Hancock was drawn, which ironically, she's the most beautiful person in the series :p
-
Whoa, great directing this week, once again.
I never thought about how many innocent women/unborn children lost their lives due to Ace. ACE.
Not due to Ace–due to the backwards absolute justice ideas propogated by the WG. Ace had nothing to do with their twisted logic concerning his exsistance.
Yeah, that part was really well done. Interesting to me that they interpreted Garp as waiting until after the search was basically over to find Rouge and help her--unless he prevented them finding her--they never made that clear, if so, though.
I was disappointed with the lack of WB appearing--the ending could have had so much more oomph with him there. Once again they think they know more than the master story-teller who made the who shebang possible in the first place. (facepalm indeed)
Other than that I thought the use of previously animated scenes was kinda... idk-- hope they use the money they saved on battle sequences.
-
Cool, they used two more pieces of Movie 10 music this week.
Hm, the flashback was handled pretty well, I think. Of course, the fact that Rouge apparently barely showed at all as kind of uh, a stretch I suppose. But the overall directing was pretty good, and I liked the effect of the billowing sleeve of the giant marine obscuring Garp and Tsuru in the background.
Stuff at the end was okay until the Moby Dick actually breached the surface. That…just looked silly, as well as the high-speed zoom in on Ace. I don't see what was stopping them from actually showign Whitebeard. Ah well.
Like Yokoyama, Deguchi seems to be better at drawing the more complex designs that the simpler, more anime-esque ones.

It reflects her inner nature.

this episode rly looked a bit weird..
moby dick, out of question…just bad!
hope when the time will arrive and TS will be coated we will have another art director at those episodes^^ -
I hated how one page int he manga took 10 minutes in the anime.
This episode was such a cock tease. :/

Which pieces of Movie 10 music were used? (I saw it already, so it's ok for me to know, lol)
Well, as a person who has been in the family way, I can say it seemed pretty hard to tell she was supposed to be that far along–however, to be fair, a number of factors come in to play (sorry for the technical TMI, LOL):
- petite women are often smaller when carrying–and she looked relatively petite
- you are smaller with your first (things are already stretched and bone structure already pushed out a bit by the time you have the second, so you look bigger much sooner)
- I have had friends who were incredibly athletic, and who worked out every day for hours througout their entire preganancy, and their baby bumps were incredibly small. Since she held out for 20 months (Ugh–do not want to give that too much thought) one would assume Rouge was very much in shape and in charge of her body, so it's not a stretch to think her baby bump was smaller than the average.
Yes to Moby Dick's appearance being a bit of a disappointment. Hoping for a better design with Sunny, but I can't imagine what that would look like.
-
She appears to be showing a bit more in the manga chapter, as well as having a more concealing dress, so I'm going to chalk this up to a simple oversight.
-
Pretty stupid Rouge didn't have freckles. Would it have been that bad to obscure her face so there wouldn't be any possible inconsistency if her face is show in the manga one day?

But she did–in both the anime and the manga. We checked last night as we were watching. In the manga they show her holding a newborn Ace and her freckles are clearly visible--which we checked because of her freckles in the anime being so visible.

Hell, I expected a little more from this episode. The flashback was really good though, honestly, I enjoyed that part the most. But other than that, seriously, nothing happened. Yeah, the captains showed up with Moby Dick, but other than that… they teasing us in a wrong way like: "You want to see some action? Want to see the war? Well, maybe next week... perhaps... might be a chance for that... just kidding, the war will start on Saturday... next month" You get the idea.
! (I don't know why, but when I read the manga, this arc felt a little more dark. Like it wasn't this bright out there, maybe I just imagined that thing, but I always felt like there's no sunshine.)
And I was very surprised when I saw those clips from the 12th opening. It looked awful. Just because it was so noticeable. It's like they didn't have enough time, or just forgot about it and in the last minute, they had no choice but to reuse a part of the opening.
(Also, have anybody seen the goat? Isn't it supposed to be there?)

Same here.
Although everyone before me has said all I wanted to say I must say the ending was preeeetty bad. They really couldn't do another 30 seconds to a minute to fit in Whitebeard? And the random opening 12 animation. It's not like it was bad or anything but it was soooooo out of place. Other than that the episode was good.

She did. they were hard to see, but she did.

By the way, baby Ace's head is bigger than Rouge's.
-
I loved Dadans voice :D
-
-
Kaze wo sagashite scenes again and again
Moby Dick flew >_>
Ace's reaction was way overdone
No WB
And WB in preview looks horribleWhy ? ;_;

I just looked at whitebeard in the preview near the end and I laughed because of how horribly drawn he was. Oh god please make him look better
-
Hearing Dadan's voice was a nice suprise
-
I lol'd at the end
It looked like Ace was being sucked
"WoahwoahWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO"
